Early days I stuck DD in huggies like I'd mentioned previously. As she got bigger I swapped to Asda/Tesco ones she didn't have a sensitivity issue with either of those and I got twice the amount of nappies for the same price. Usually on a 2 for £10 deal. Think I might try aldi ones this time too.

As much as I like the thought of being more environmentally friendly I don't think I could be bothered washing every day my washer has a big drum but even when I was washing baby grows with DD still didn't fill it all the time so not economical really. On a plus note for the environment we did go down to one car this year ( from 2 cars) so that's a big contribution to being green. Even if I have to do loads more driving!

I must of put the heating on continuous last night as DH told me it was still on this morning. Oops Blush let's blame baby brain.

cinnamongreyhound · 04/10/2014 08:31

Wouldn't have a problem with size daholster, mine were 8lb 12 and 9lb 2 so they'd fit fine :) maybe I'll get a dainty girl this time! Although my friend has 5 boys and 1 girl and her girl was her biggest at 10lb 4!! All her boys were around 7 1/2lb!

Oh dear - just playing catch-up after a busy week - forgive me if some of these responses are too late, as I have missed some of the thread in my hurry to reply to some stuff.

Am so very sorry to hear Lobster's news :0( Its probably too late for you to see this Lobster, but thinking of you and sending virtual hugs.

Essence! Firstly I wanted to say: don't panic. The rate of false positives is pretty high on nuchal/bloods, particularly as you get older (tho I don't know your age)

Secondly, and more importantly - I read a staggering fact in that 'Expecting Better' book (which I would urge everyone to get!)
The miscarriage risks for CVS/Amnio are WAY out of date. They are based upon 80s stats. The actual risks today are more like 1/800. Yes, for both! So any ladies facing the decision of further testing can feel a bit more reassured knowing this, and go ahead with CVS earlier with no increased risk.

It's shocking this info isn't more widely available really.
Like I say, I would urge everyone to get the book.

Lastly - I would recommend the Harmony to anyone (it's just the matter of cost really, tho the financial punch may well be worth taking if you're a Worry Sofa-Regular!)

Thankfully, nothing else odd to report from me after last Saturdays hiccup - I look like a right bloater tho, and still a bit barfy, despite now being nearly 14 weeks!! Different sort of barfy tho - less severe, but comes back quicker after I've eaten. Does it never end?? :0D
Definitely having more 'good' days tho.
Anyway, all the best to everyone!

AnniaFausta · 04/10/2014 09:11

12 weeks today! And the rescheduled nuchal scan on Wednesday. Have to say I've never been so glad to get to the weekend - absolutely killer week at work had me asleep on my feet for most of yesterday.

Also, apparently the baby's ears have nearly finished developing now... for the last few weeks I've been saying 'well, it doesn't matter what we say/listen to, the baby hasn't got ears yet', and very soon it will have! Which is really quite exciting. Although goodness knows what it will make of all the stuff I spout at work ;)

sazzle82G · 04/10/2014 09:14

£50 a piece! Think I will definitely have a go. I really don't like the idea of disposable ones. Though if you ask me in 8months time I might have changed my mind I guess. I have a tumbler though so should make things a bit easier.

My scan's on Wednesday next week. Can't wait but also nervous. Just want to feel like it's all real and start telling people. I've gone into hiding. I'm purposely waiting till after Wednesday to meet up with people just because I don't want questions asked and I want to tell them with a picture to prove it.

MissV84 · 04/10/2014 09:33

Congrats daholster and wine! So happy for you to see your scans.

Janey I'm 100% with you - the exhaustion is now way out doing the nausea and I've become a crying mess at work! Things I used to be able to cope with now seem unmanageable and tiring. Have you told people yet? I told everyone yesterday and whilst I'm sure il be just as tired next week, I feel better knowing everyone is now aware... And hopefully will be forgiving! We are quite a young staff body though and I'm the first person in the whole school to be pregnant - nobody else has kids or is expecting them, so it's all a bit odd. Wish there was someone else to sympathise with at work but at least I've got you guys in here which is always a huge comfort - sorry for taking comfort in the fact were all as sick and tired as each other!

BananaToast · 04/10/2014 09:56

sazzle I'm doing the same! I didn't go out for work drinks last night after an event because I didn't want anyone to suspect because I wasn't drinking (I'm not a big drinker but would usually have one if everyone else is). I've been scheduling dates to see close friends just after my scan so I can tell them first.

Not sure yet when I'm going to tell work - I'm going away for the first two weeks of November when I'll be 15-17 weeks so can't decide whether to tell before or after. What's everyone else doing? I just don't feel like I want everyone to know something that feels so private - I just want to tell selected friends!

Lauren82000 · 04/10/2014 10:23

I had to tell work because of the spotting and headaches I've had. It put me over the 3 absences in 12 months limit. A rule I absolutely hate as it's pretty unfair but I like my job so have to deal with it. But pregnancy being a protected thingy by law meant I had to fess up or be disciplined for attendance.

Has anyone else noticed their hair and nails are growing super fast? Just had to trim my nails for the second time in a fortnight. They don't usually grow that fast and my fringe is well past my eyes.

I think I'll go with disposables - they sound pretty high tech these days (my mum used terry towelling ones on me!) . I'm not worrying about all that for a while - I've applied for a money off voucher from Real Nappies London though.

I'm 14 weeks today! Bought some more mat clothes - a dress and 'lounge suit' from Envie de Fraises online. Really want something comfy to wear at home!

LadyNovember · 04/10/2014 13:33

My nails are Lauren! Theyre usually soo short because they're brittle and peely..so I end up biting them down. Past few weeks I've had to file them as they've been long enough to annoy me! I like it though Grin

Siarie · 04/10/2014 14:19

Well just posted my announcements to family, umm and ahh' about waiting until 12 weeks but decided what will be will be. I wanted my mum to know before we announce to the world and I'm 10+2 now so time is running out.

All very interesting!

lila35 · 04/10/2014 17:40

I am now exclusively in Maternity wear, nothing else fits over this belly of mine!!! 14+1 today!!!

What day in April did you get married Misty? We got married on the 11th.

daholster · 04/10/2014 19:53

Have got about 15 ulcers along the length of the left side of my tongue. It's soooooo painful. I'm hoping its part of my colitis flaring (which it is) that will hopefully respond to the meds I'm about to start tonight... I think I'll cry if they last more than a couple of days! Hubby says more vit C, I will but I am taking a pregnancy multivitamin too. Any other ideas? I also have a stretchy type pain I think going low across my left hip into my back. Feeling a little sorry for myself (though not really cos I'm sure its probably all part of being pregnant so I'll try to ride it with a smile!)

cinnamongreyhound · 04/10/2014 20:12

I always get ulcers when I'm run down Daholster. I love the bonjela that makes a coating over the ulcer but I'm not sure if it's ok with pregnancy as it has salicylic acid :( dh swears by clove oil for everything painful in your mouth, might be worth a try?

daholster · 04/10/2014 20:14

Just put some dentinox newborn teething gel on my tongue... Was guessing that would be ok! Also feeling sick. I'm a bundle of joy!!!

daholster · 04/10/2014 20:16

Thanks for the clove oil idea, will have to try and buy some, don't have any Sad

Ugh clove oil is disgusting! Try anbesol!

daholster · 04/10/2014 21:53

Have anbesol somewhere...

Btw the sonographer checked my ovaries and said that from the blood flow you could tell the egg that made the baby came from the left!!!

littleluna89 · 04/10/2014 22:21

urgh, went in to work today and totally feel like I'm falling apart. avoided anything resembling solid food so I was less likely to throw up. threw up anyway. spent most of the day on my feel labelling stuff individually with prices whilst avoiding anyone who looked like they were interested in big heavy mirrors. ended up walking a mile and a half to a different bus stop because someone convinced me a bus stopped there earlier (yes it does unfortunately way too early and I missed it) and the idea that I've got to do it all again tomorrow makes me want to cry counting down the days I have to work till I can escape on mat leave

With regards to work pretty much everyone's known at my place for ages, gossip spreads like wildfire at that place, I only had to tell three people for the whole building to know. And yet some people pretend like they have no idea (even after I've overheard them talking about it or they've just dropped an obvious hint :/)

Speaking of nappies going for silly money, there was a set of nappies going round on faacebook, the lady had make five one off gruffly nappies and i think five one off hungry catterpillar nappies and those bad boys were trading hands for £80 each!

cinnamongreyhound · 05/10/2014 03:00

Hope you have a better day tomorrow littleluna89!!

Dh said its getting around his work now as he had to tell his boss why he wanted Wednesday off as it was difficult. Very professional Hmm

Lauren82000 · 05/10/2014 08:06

Had to get up twice to wee last night have only been getting up once a night so far. Is it the beginning of many stumbling trips to the bathroom in the middle of the night?

Not complaining too much as it means blob is getting bigger Smile just wish you could teleport to the bathroom instead of stumbling with one eye half open.
