Going through these fast at the minute!

Definitely agree with the good days and bad days on tiredness. Yesterday I was hopeless, just sat down all day. Today I played with my nephews (jumped on trampoline and everything), had hair done, went to see another mate and her one year old - driving 2 hours in the process. All fine. Although lying down now! Tomorrow I've planned a sofa day.

Absolutely nothing happening here regards baby movement. Bump still high, moany period pain still there, but no duscharge, no BH to speak of. I'm starting to prepare myself for the anti induction argument next Tuesday already. :(

Tatty0 · 30/09/2014 18:14

That's okay robin. I felt really similar. What most worried me about the idea of the c section was that I would wake up in the morning, go into surgery, and then they'd hand me a baby at the end and it would be like it had come out of nowhere- but then a friend of mine who had an EMCS under general anesthetic said when she came round and her husband tried to hand her the baby she just went "No I don't want it" and that cheered me up enormously because her daughter is now 21 and excellently turned out. Really, whatever happens, it will probably all come out okay in the end.

I think a lot of the birth-plan-worry, for me, is that it's an easy thing to worry about, whereas in fact what I am actually worried about is the terrifying fact that in the next month I am going to have a child and I have no idea what that's going to be like or how I'm going to cope with it. That's just too big a thing to focus the worry on though so it's coming out everywhere else, for example in an obsessional need to meal plan and a tendency to go and sit in my boyfriend's office and read out to-do lists to him.

This all seemed like such an excellent idea in January.

Kirstipops · 30/09/2014 18:16

Sazzle maybe it will pick up again later when you've had time to relax at home alone with your DH, so it might still be happening :-)
Welcome to newbies and de-lurkers, everyone who has asked about FB should have had a PM from me by now, message me if I've missed you!

ohthegoats · 30/09/2014 18:18

Robin - I've had emails and texts everyday from work since I left. My boss is now leaving at Christmas (primary school head), and suddenly I need to be involved in stuff for recruitment (I'm deputy). It's a bit hard to say no when his move will essentially screw up the school. Also no idea what I'd be going back to in June. Baby needs to arrive to distract me.

madamweasel · 30/09/2014 18:30

tatty I had a similar reaction when DS was born following normal spontaneous labour ending in forceps. They went to hand me the baby and I looked at DH and said 'you take him'. I think it's the shock, not emotional shock but physical shock of the birth and I felt so spaced out from the effort and the drugs that taking charge of a baby just seemed too much. I don't know how long I waited before I held him but it was definitely after having been stitched up because that was a weird position with heels up and legs wide with a big, manly obs down there with a spotlight, sewing away. I needed a bit of dignity and normality before I was ready to cope with the new little person in our lives. After that we were fine!

magichandles · 30/09/2014 19:00

I'm having good and bad days tiredness wise as well - I've been dreading today as I had loads to do and I was on my knees yesterday with exhaustion - and it's been totally fine!

Didn't manage to see the MW at clinic this morning - I waited 1 hr 45 mins and did get bloods and urine tested and see the diabetic consultant, but not the MW as I had to leave to get DS from preschool (and I wasn't even top of the pile to be seen) - now I'm a bit worried that I should have stayed. Problem is I think the same thing will happen next week again as clinic is just so busy.

mum2kiss · 30/09/2014 19:10

I'm more tired now than I've ever been in my life! If I sit down...I fall asleep...

I can barely walk now with the pgp. My.mum said she thinks she has some crutches in her cupboard so she's going to dig them out for me. I think someone here said they've had acupuncture for pgp...did it work?! I feel like even 2 or 3 days relief would be money well spent!

Missus2ndwife · 30/09/2014 19:15

Mum2 I've been having acupuncture & hydrotherapy for my pgp and I do think it's worked.
I am also so tired I think I could sleep standing up at the moment.

So I have a question for everyone about BH - should I be getting these regularly now that I'm 36weeks as a build up to labour? Or do BH have no baring on labour at all?

cabster · 30/09/2014 19:18

Anyone else roasting today? Blush

Just watching an episode of Countdown at my mum's and "perineum" came up. How apt.

Nothing doing here, so much so I've let DH go to the footy 70 miles away. I'm such a good wife. Spent the day with my parents shopping for my batch cook-off, making DD's CBeebies birthday card for November and wrapping shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child (I'm an atheist with a Xmas fixation, go figure Grin). Uncharacteristic organisation skills... This is what I do instead of nesting!

mum2kiss · 30/09/2014 19:27

Thanks missus I knew someone had tried acupuncture! I was having hydrotherapy sessions but I've missed the last 2 weeks because I can't face getting to the hospital for the class! I have to park down the road (after driving around for hours looking for a space!) Then I have to walk down to the hospital...my pelvis hurts too much for me to Pick hydrotherapy over lying on the sofa!

Missus2ndwife · 30/09/2014 19:34

Mum2 if I had to do your walk to get to hydrotherapy I'd also miss it!! Another option is a sports massage to work to muscles.

mrsb87 · 30/09/2014 19:49

sazzle mine tailed off a bit over night, do try dtd! Any excuse! Dh and I will be having another go tonight. not sure he knows that yet mind. If I can get a bloody show after last night, I'm hoping for some stronger contractions tonight. I will keep my fingers crossed for you!
Just been for a stroll with the doggies and dh, I felt weirdly mobile and actually walked at a normal pace. wtf is that about?! first time I've enjoyed walking in months!

madamweasel · 30/09/2014 19:51

missus it really depends on what I'm doing as to BH, lots of walking = lots of BH but loafing on sofa = nothing. I'm 38weeks now and hardly had any compared to last time. Dunno what that means if anything.

magichandles · 30/09/2014 20:13

missus - I've not had BH in 3 pregnancies so I'm assuming some people just don't get them!

robindeer · 30/09/2014 20:18

goats maybe it's a teaching thing- the expectation that nothing else in our lives is as important as the job. Of course we don't help ourselves there- I'm currently marking yr11 coursework...

ohthegoats · 30/09/2014 20:59

robin - and I've spent the evening chatting up some possible options to apply for our available head's job. Face palm.

I've finally had some very obvious nudging/bashing feelings of head in my pelvis - perhaps this child is actually engaging itself. Yaaaay.

Kirstipops · 30/09/2014 21:52

Hehe goats maybe it's baby saying "Mum! Stop working!"

mrsb87 · 30/09/2014 22:16

Sounds like your baby is protesting goats. Surely you shouldn't be expected . to still be working whilst on leave?

Tonight I feel completely restless, uncomfortable and wide awake. This is a very odd feeling as I'm normally a sleeper. Even when getting up for regular wee trips I've been asleep again within 10 minutes. I suppose I ought to try and get some shut eye.....

Missus2ndwife · 30/09/2014 22:20

Thanks ladies for coming back to me about your BH experiences.
Good to know I'm not missing something here
Xx

mum2kiss · 30/09/2014 23:10

missus you are welcome to mine if you want them a bit more regular! They don't hurt at all...just crush my lungs and make my head throb as I gasp for air lol!

Lily31 · 30/09/2014 23:45

Mum2 I've had osteopathy and acupuncture. My pgp is 90% better than it was - i can now walk for 20 mins or so and can move in bed comfortably. I looked for someone who specialised in antenatal osteo.

pebble82 · 01/10/2014 01:33

Hi all, been away from MN for a long time (still on FB though) but thought I'd check back in. 38+1 now and no sign. My pgp is also debilitating at times. Monday was ridiculous, I couldn't walk from room to room without stopping. But then yesterday I managed to drive out to the shops and walk round for a whole 15-20 mins.

Starting to get pretty anxious now. But excited too. I'm a bit of a worrier at times so just keep thinking of terrible scenarios and how I'd cope. Need to relax. Hope the natal hypnotherapy isn't wasted on me!

tak1ngchances · 01/10/2014 01:51

Hi everyone
I've updated Facebook but just to let you all know that baby Darcey was born last Friday morning at 8.55 weighing 7lb 1oz and 56cm long.

I had her by planned c section for placenta previa. The consultant said it was v severe PP and it was kind of a miracle that I hadnt had a big bleed in my third trimester. So we definitely needed to do the op.

It was quite calm as regards surgery. I found the spinal block extremely strange as you can feel sensations but not pain. So I knew someone was rummaging inside me, pressing down on me etc.
I had a bad but common reaction to some of the drugs which was uncontrollable shakes and spasms. They were very strong in my upper body, neck and face so overall not pleasant.

It was great when Darcey was born thoigh, she did a huge cry straight away and they passed her over the curtain for a kiss & cuddle quickly before taking her off for her apgar test.

Post-op Recovery took about 3 hours then I was back in my room for lunch.

Day 2 pain was pretty bad but once I took the strongest drugs on offer I was grand. Came home yesterday evening and I feel relatively normal surgery-wise.

Darcey was very good at sleeping and eating until tonight when it's all gone a bit haywire and we're all awake trying to get wind up and the like. Fun & games!

Good luck to everyone in labour, early labour, or playing the waiting game. It's all worth it!

STIGZ · 01/10/2014 05:00

So im up drinking tea... My mums dog has been staying with us as she is on holiday and the wee fucker has been up and down like a peep in the gas for the past hour an halfAngry

I cant get back to sleep as i have really bad period cramps & what i hope to be braxton hicks Hmm just took two paracetomol to see if cramps settle down a bit .,, if not im going to ask to go in and get checked i think ? Starting to think get paranoid that the dog might sense something going on, he's currently trying to come up and lie on my knees ? I hope not Confused

mrsb87 · 01/10/2014 05:05

Always worth getting checked out if you're concerned. I've had a grand total of 4hrs sleep so far and I'm still wide awake. Practically begging dh to wallop me over the head with something to send me to sleep SadSad
