Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

After 2.5 hours waiting at the clinic this morning (it turned out that my notes had been put in the box after I saw the diabetic consultant, rather than on the MW pile) I finally saw a MW this morning - baby is 3/5 engaged and very low so she recommended that I make sure my bags are packed - I'm being induced on Friday in any case (38 weeks).

We chatted birth plan and she was very supportive in my being assertive with the duty midwife while I'm on the 4-bed induction ward as I had a bad experience last time.

Oh, and I appear to have developed back pain - I don't think it can be labour related though as it's in my upper back and started during the 2.5 hour wait on the world's most uncomfortable chairs - I'm a little loathe to take paracetamol for it as I don't want to mask any early labour symptoms as my last two deliveries were very quick.

Oh, and I'm mildly annoyed with DH as when I told him all this, especially the bit about me perhaps going early (he's supposed to be working on the day I go in to be induced on the presumption that nothing happens until the next day, but MW thinks it make kick off quicker than that) his response was that he needs to work as much as possible between now and then, just when I could really do with some bloody rest.

Hi all, how is everyone doing? I'm 39+5 today and had a couple of false alarms in the last week, ready for this baby to make an appearance now! Had a sweep on Sunday though and only 1cm and high and long so don't think my chances of going soon are high. I was really surprised as I thought all the full nights of Braxton hicks I've had would have been doing something! Anyone else due this week? Xx

queenasanti3 · 07/10/2014 15:14

Quick birth announcement will update in more detail later.
My yellow bump turned blue this morning at 12:55 after giving birth to my little boy weighing 7lb 8 oz just an 55 mins past his due date x

Lily31 · 07/10/2014 15:16

Congratulations queen. Enjoy your little boy!

YellowWellies · 07/10/2014 15:23

Queen lovely news!!! Smile

CellyD · 07/10/2014 15:23

Good luck goats I hope things get moving. Punky I'm sorry you've been in hospital so long, I was in for 5 days with DD for jaundice and that seemed like an eternity, so you have my sympathies.

Good luck to all those waiting for a sweep to get the party started. Fingers legs crossed for those not wanting little ones to arrive ahead of scheduled csections.

40 weeks yesterday. I had a lovely reflexology session yesterday, almost immediately followed by medium strength contractions every 15 mins for 6 hours, I really thought the party might be starting but to no avail. I came to bed and the baby revealed it had other plans... It seems I have an overly comfortable uterus.

I've booked in for another reflexology session next Monday when I'll be 41 weeks, maybe I'll have better luck then.

The false start wasn't all bad, it has spurred DP into action, he mentioned putting up the cot today, useful as that's where the baby is going to sleep! He also said he should probably sort out his own hospital bag as I've only put a toothbrush in for him.

CellyD · 07/10/2014 15:24

Cross post, congratulations on your son Queen.

MundayCakes85 · 07/10/2014 16:06

Congratulations Queen
Second sweep was much more vigorous and hopefully we'll get somewhere. Cervix soft and effaced although only 1cm but FX I won't need the induction I've been booked for on Saturday.
DH desperate to meet bump- he's getting a lot of stress from his parents, I really feel sorry for him. They're trying to guilt trip him and it's just not what we need at the moment. Anyway I'm thinking happy thoughts today Smile

robindeer · 07/10/2014 16:19

Well never thought I'd be relieved to say it but baby is still breech! Phew! Poor you punky, you must be climbing the walls. I'm booked in for caesarean in 2wks so if baby can stay put until then I'd be obliged! Thanks for all info and good wishes.

Congrats queen!

kittyvet · 07/10/2014 16:45

Congratulations queen!

FlipFantasia · 07/10/2014 16:52

Congratulations Queen! I bet he's gorgeous! I'm due today and would my bump to be as punctual...

Punky, wow 12 days (and counting) must be hard going. Glad the end is in sight.

Me23 · 07/10/2014 16:57

queen congratulations on your baby boy!

punky sorry to hear of your long hospital stay I hope you aren't going too crazy in there. The one bonus (if there are any) is that you will get to know all the mws I'm sure they will get quite attached to you after so long (or is that just me!)

robin glad to hear baby is breech rather than transverse.

goats glad your appt went as well as it could go.

Lily31 · 07/10/2014 17:22

Fingers crossed for you munday

So, bubba is still head down, but has decided to go back to back... So it's time to pump up the gym ball and get leaning forward.

Going to a talk about water births this evening.

Also, what does palpable mean? FTM Confused

cabster · 07/10/2014 17:29

Congratulations on your little prince queen!

MundayCakes85 · 07/10/2014 17:39

Tmi question- is it a good sign/ ok that there was quite a bit of brown blood after my sweep? Bump v hard and starting to get back ache I did just clean the bathroom though

mrsb87 · 07/10/2014 17:53

munday I was told brown blood is okay, if I had fresh blood then I had to call them.

Oh my goodness please tell me it's okay to be sat here in pj top and joggers with my dressing gown still on?! I have seriously lost the will! In a lot of froo pain and the only comfortable position is lying on my left had side. Sad

ohthegoats · 07/10/2014 18:28

Congrats Queen.

Everything has gone erratic here... same pain, no pattern. I'm beginning to get the hump :(

MrsBadCrumble74 · 07/10/2014 18:29

Congratulations queen enjoy your snuggles :)

MundayCakes85 · 07/10/2014 18:34

Mrsb it's best to rename your pj's as "lounging attire" I did and feel
Much better about life in general Smile
MW told me to stay active this afternoon then have a nice bath and think positive thoughts so I'm now sat on my ball looking forward to dinner Grin
FX you get more frequent pains Goats must be annoying

hefner · 07/10/2014 19:20

That sounds annoying goats.

I'm feeling much more positive now I've got an induction booked for Sunday. Don't think my sweep did much though. I've had period pains all day but no contractions. I've got gardeners coming tomorrow to tame our jungle of a garden (booked when I thought I would have been home with baby for a week by now Hmm) so it's sods law I'll go into labour and have to cancel!

hefner · 07/10/2014 19:22

Munday my midwife told me the same as MrsB said, brown blood is fine but fresh red bleeding needs to be checked out.

gunwalloe · 07/10/2014 19:28

Thanks me23 I did the school run today for the first time and it now hurts more not sure if that's a good or bad sign but will be going to the docs in the morning.

gunwalloe · 07/10/2014 19:29

Congrats queen

puppythedog · 07/10/2014 19:53
