Going through these fast at the minute!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

It's the amount of baby's head that can still be felt (palpated) Lily Smile

Shirehobbit · 07/10/2014 19:58

(The engaged bit is in your pelvis, so can't be felt)

Lily31 · 07/10/2014 20:04

Thanks shire. Get confused with that and engaged.

Shirehobbit · 07/10/2014 20:06

It doesn't help that the way it's recorded isn't always clear - if your midwife writes 3/5 it's always worth asking whether that's 3/5 engaged or 3/5 palpable!

PunkyBubba · 07/10/2014 20:30

Grr, just wrote a long reply, then lost it, so will keep this one shorter!

Congrats Queen on the safe arrival of your baby boy, and congrats Robin on baby not being transverse!

Yeah, definitely wasn't expecting to spend the last 2 weeks of this pregnancy stuck in hospital! All baby stuff was ready thankfully (was in nesting mode for ages), but very jealous of treats like cinema, meals out and hair appointments :(

I took a photo of my NHS dinner (minus 2 soggy chips I had already eaten)... It's a tinned mushroom omelette. Luckily my DH turned up 2 mins after I took the photo with home cooked food in hot flasks (curry and rice) which was amazing.

Me the midwives here have almost all been lovely but to be honest apart from the once daily checks (monitoring etc) I haven't had a huge amount of contact with them as they have been so busy. I've had more conversations with the cleaners.

Just can't wait to meet my baby now. Weirdly being in here has made the whole pregnancy thing seem more surreal as my whole focus has been on missing my little boy and how disruptive my being here for 2 weeks has effected him.

goats I hope things ramp up for you soon. Must be so frustrating for all of you who are getting on and off contractions/BH.

PunkyBubba · 07/10/2014 20:31

Haha whoops that wasn't short... Also forgot photo

PunkyBubba · 07/10/2014 20:34

2nd attempt at photo!

Wow punky that looks amazing Hmm

Congratulations queen another baby, yay!

Absolutely no labour signs today, spent all day walking around Ikea and Babies R Us but all I got was a sore back and hips, so more curry tonight.

The calls and texts have started in earnest now, if anyone else, esp MIL asks when she's arriving I'm going to scream. if I could predict a baby's arrival I would be a very rich person!

ohthegoats · 07/10/2014 21:04

Haha punky, my friend was in for induction recently and took photos of dreadful food too. Omelette featured quite highly for her as well.

Captainmcgraw · 07/10/2014 21:18

Congrats queen!

Punky, I hope you're not going too stir-crazy - you definitely deserve a straightforward birth and speedy exit from hospital afterwards.

Good luck Goats and others waiting. First night in 2 weeks we haven't had parents or PIL staying. Thank God - I was going mental. My Dad arriving tomorrow though to continue the tag team...

Right baby asleep so must sleep myself - he was awake between 1am-6.30am last night Hmm

ohthegoats · 07/10/2014 21:36

Thanks. I've got the massive arse on about this whole stupid thing, whose idea was it to have a child hmmm? Stupid idea. A cat would have been less uncomfortable, cheaper and we could have dressed it up and put it on YouTube without too much judgement. Pah.

hefner · 07/10/2014 21:58

Well, I've been having some slightly painful tightenings this evening and I've just had a bloody show, so I'm starting to hope I might go into labour before my induction (booked for Sun). No pattern to the tightenings and they are only about 10 seconds long, so it's nothing serious yet. I'd love to have a good sleep then wake up in labour but I bet it'll tail off overnight.

That omelette looks awful Punky, thank goodness for your DH bringing you some proper food!

STIGZ · 07/10/2014 22:13

Congratz queen Flowers

punky sorry about your hospital staySad ... Hospital kitchens should feature on ramsays kitchen nightmares Shock

Dont know if this will make people feel better but just think that in a months time we will all have had our babies, and pregnancy will be a distant memory, some may even be conceiving another Wink ... God thats not even funny is it? Confused

Lily31 · 07/10/2014 22:20

This is a good thought stigz.. Well, the first bit. Getting pregnant again - gah.

punky that looks like airline food... Ugh. Glad you OH is feeding you properly.

Missus2ndwife · 07/10/2014 22:20

Congrats Queen!

You make me laugh Goats! We have 3 cats and almost a baby! Now who's the stupid one? Wink

I am wishing my baby's arrival now even though I still have 3 weeks. C'mon bubba, mamma wants you here now!

Lily31 · 07/10/2014 22:21

Ooh, and fx hefner.

ohthegoats · 07/10/2014 22:31

Hope it comes to something hefner!

Doula just told me to have a bath, some paracetamol and a glass of wine. I think she might have read my mood...

pebble82 · 07/10/2014 22:33

3 texts tonight asking if I think it'll be soon. Argh!!! I'm 39 weeks. This could carry on for 3 weeks!

Had madras for tea with pineapple juice. Ball bouncing and carpet cleaning on all fours all day. Come on baby.

fedupofrainydays · 07/10/2014 22:36

Congrats queen on your new arrival!

And good luck to those with all the signs it's coming soon! Relaxing is the way to get it going goats!

punky I did almost two weeks of hospital food too, ugh! It's terrible! Tiny portions too (not that you want much more of it!) good on DH to bring you the curry!

I've taken myself and baby downstairs out of paranoia re paint fumes. Stinks upstairs so don't want to expose the baby to it!

mum2kiss · 07/10/2014 22:46

No stigz that is not funny at all! Speaking of which when do.you all plan going on to contraception. Do we have to wait 6 weeks? I'm thinking about giving the injection a go, but not sure...the mini pill made me.pile on the pounds! I don't think you can take combined pill whilst breastfeeding and the coil did not agree with me at all and was sooooo painful to have put in!

The outlaws have been texting us both today to make sure we remember to call them immediately as I go into labour no.matter what time of day or night! You know because we'll have nothing else to do!

Georgebythesea · 07/10/2014 22:58

Congratulations Queen! I'm 40+3 today.Saw the midwife and I'm
Booked in for a sweep and acupuncture next Tuesday at 41+3 and an induction next Thurs at 41+5.I really don't want to be induced if possible. She has also offered me a sweep tomorrow..she said the only slight risk is it can break your waters and then lead to induction so I'm not sure whether to just wait and hope it happens naturally until Tuesday..hmm hate having to make these decisions..come on baba! I've had no show or mucus or contractions or anything yet!

fedupofrainydays · 07/10/2014 22:59

are you keen for shagging before six weeks mum2?! My god, my bits could not hack that right now!

BadgerInBury · 07/10/2014 23:06

Wow. Really struggling tonight. Feels like baby's head is trying to bust through my pubic bone - comes on and goes off in bursts but especially if I try to move or walk. Has me totally frozen while it's happening - it is really, really sore. Just managed to get into the bath after 3 minutes totally stuck trying to walk across the bathroom. I'm 40+3 and she's been 3/5 engaged since 36 weeks so I don't really understand what is happening. Anyone else had this? What did you do?

BadgerInBury · 07/10/2014 23:09

Also, bump is tight as anything and it hurts in my back and legs when it happens too so it feels different than fanjo daggers, if you get me...

mum2kiss · 07/10/2014 23:13

Lol clearly I hadn't thought that through fedup. Can't imagine I will actually NEED contraception for a while ;)
