So Bump, maybe the fingering helped? GrinGood luck, cheer cheer.

fedupofrainydays · 05/10/2014 12:06

See? Fingering from a young man is the answer! Good luck bump

Pregnantagain7 · 05/10/2014 12:22

Oooh good luck bump! Fingering definitely worked then Grin

bumpbangbump · 05/10/2014 12:28

I may see if I can find him when I hit the hospital to thank him for the excellent job he did!

ohthegoats · 05/10/2014 13:05

A decent fingering from a young any age man is the answer to so many things I find. Hehe.

Good luck bump, I hope it doesn't keep you waiting for something 'real' for too long.

fatpony · 05/10/2014 13:47

You jizz catchers are making me laugh! We are def not DTD as due an CS in 5 days and don't want to go into labour before then (or at least before Tuesday when I get my blood stuff done.

If any of you like fruit cake I made a really good sticky date cake yesterday-it's amazing and so easy to make. Can post the recipe, makes two 1lb loaf tins.

robindeer · 05/10/2014 14:17

Date cake sounds lovely, and before I knew I was going to have to have a CS I was planning on eating dates for the next few weeks so it may be helpful to those of you playing the waiting game! Please post pony!

kittyvet · 05/10/2014 14:40

Hope you get cuddles soon sazzle. My niece was in SCBU for about a week due to seizures post stroke right after birth and she is now a bouncing 3 year old! Must be tough not being together- I know my sister found it really hard.
Good luck bump!
Yes please to date cake recipe too as scoffing those daily in eviction bid!

mum2kiss · 05/10/2014 14:44

Yay bump!

I didn't realise dates were supposed to bring on labour...

I've managed to lose my iron tablets....

...Wait! In typing that it occurred to me where they might be! I've found them. Today I could hardly stay awake and I figured it was because I hadn't been able to take any! Funny how quickly symptoms return when you stop taking medication! Well at least I don't have to sort out getting another prescription tomorrow!

kittyvet · 05/10/2014 15:09

I posted this link on the last thread but I think it got lost in all the excitement of babies arriving!

spinningirl10 · 05/10/2014 15:47

Hi, hope you don't all mind me popping in from the ttc bus to say huge Congratulations Sazzle on the arrival of baby NedGrin sorry to hear you can't have cuddles with him yet, that must be hard but good to hear that he's doing ok. Big hugs for you both Grin

Congratulations to the other October ladies and good luck to those of you waiting.

Whippet81 · 05/10/2014 15:58

I'm booked in for a c-section on 16th but I'm a bit worried today that something is happening :(

Last night I started to have terrible back pain (although I do have a lot of pain as have a joint problem) and I've got really bad stomach ache although I did have loads to eat yesterday and I haven't eaten much lately.

Worried now :(

BadgerInBury · 05/10/2014 16:04

Bleurgh! Today is not fun. I have gripy backache, I'm knackered, I've got the shivers and I can't seem to get a grip. I'm currently laid on the sofa under a blanket watching crap telly and having a cry on the dog. 40+1 days today and I've had ENOUGH of being pregnant now!

BadgerInBury · 05/10/2014 16:06

Whippet that sounds a bit worrying. A quick call to triage, perhaps, just to be sure? They'll probably advise paracetamol and a bath and see how you're doing in a bit but no harm in checking in...

STIGZ · 05/10/2014 16:11

Woo-hoo bump !! ... So excitingGrin
Thats an intresting article kitty... If i was in rush to get baby out, i would deffo be at the supermarket purchasing dates!!

whippet we have c/sec on the same date !! ... Last time i had c-sec booked for 39 weeks but went into labour at 38 weeks, so i am also paranoid about early labour again due to breech presentation ... Just phone the midwife & go up and checked if pains get any worse ?

Whippet81 · 05/10/2014 16:23

Will do. I'm 37+3 so would be early but not unlikely. He can't come yet I've got to go to the Horse of the Year Show Thurs!

Think I'm getting myself worked up about going into labour and not having time for c-section.

cabster · 05/10/2014 16:24

Post it pony! you know we're all suckers for a cakey recipe.

Actually, anyone got a recipe for jizz cake? So much tastier...

Come on baby bump! Time to say hello!

All this talk of contractions and waters going is giving me stomach cramps. Although I think it will be a few days yet before I get going, I think my body's definitely gearing up for labour IYSWIM. Fanny daggers aplenty today, took DD for a lovely autumnal walk round the lake and baby is head butting my cervix loads now.

DH putting up the bed nest as I type!

Lily31 · 05/10/2014 17:11

whippet hope you're ok? If you have continual stomach pains I'd definitely get it checked. Could just be a stomach upset but worth finding out.

Go bump go! Thinking of you.

Midwife came round to create birth plan but had to leave after 10 mins to cover on the labour ward due to under staffing. Who needs a birth plan anyhow...? Grin

Confused

Date cake eh? Sounds good. Do prunes have a similar effect? Eating them by the bucket at the moment. Yumbo!

MrsBadCrumble74 · 05/10/2014 17:29

Afternoon ladies - been off thread a bit doing a million things and so much has happened! Congratulations to all new mummies and good luck to all those labouring Thanks
I cannot believe I am 41 weeks today Confused. I think my little man is way too comfy in there. I have tried everything and just resorted to a major flounce upstairs in a humph and a flood of tears. The joys of pregnancy hormones and my DH long suffering understanding. My glutes, back and hips are so painful now - moan moan moan.
Still the talk of cake, fingering, and jizz has cheered me up no endGrin
For those still overdue I guess patience is the only thing.

fatpony · 05/10/2014 17:34

This is seriously one of the easiest cakes I've made, basically a very rich/treacilly/chewy fruit cake. And no bloody creaming butter and sugar for ages and then hoping the added eggs doesn't curdle the mixture.

Sticky date cake [added jizz optional]

110g raisins
225g pitted and chopped dates
175g sultanas
110g currants
275g margarine (I used butter!)
275ml water
400g tin condensed milk
150g plain flour
150g wholewheat flour
Pinch salt
¾ teaspoon bicarbonate of soda

NB I didn’t want to buy wholewheat flour specially so just did 300g plain flour

Preheat oven to Gas 3/170C
8 inch square cake tin, greased and lined. I used two 1lb loaf tins instead.
Place all the fruits in a saucepan, with the margarine/butter, water and condensed milk. Bring to the boil. Stir frequently to avoid sticking. Simmer the mixture for exactly three minutes, stirring occasionally. Transfer to a large mixing bowl and cool for 30 mins.
While it is cooling, sift the flour and add the bicarb of soda/salt into another bowl.
When the fruit mixture has cooled stir into it the flour mixture.
Spoon the mixture into the prepared tin(s) and bake on the centre shelf of the oven for two and a half hours. The cake gets quite brown on top if not protected – therefore cover from the beginning with a double square of greaseproof paper (with a hole the size of a 50p piece in the centre).
If using the two loaf tins you can halve the cooking time – I did exactly one hour and then left it to cool for 20 mins in the oven with the temperature turned off. I also did the old skewer test to check it came out clean. But keep an eye on it – I’ve burnt loads of fruit cake tops by letting them stay in too long!
Once cake is cooled a bit turn out. Will keep for several weeks in an airtight tin (although we’ve already been through one loaf in 24 hours!).

mrsb87 · 05/10/2014 17:44

Copy and pasted that thank you! I love most kinds of cake.

CellyD · 05/10/2014 17:48

Congratulations Sazzle, hope you get some snuggles soon. Exciting times bump sounds like little bump is on route.

kittyvet · 05/10/2014 19:43

Thanks pony! Going to make this tomorrow :)
