Ok back from the hospital. So I now have a plan which has made me feel so much better....
Had a sweep with the doctor, she was quite happy for me to wait the weekend out to see if the sweep started it off. I am 2 cm dilated so she managed a full sweep this time. If not I have a csection booked for Tuesday. I'm so much happier with this plan. I didn't want an induction and she's happy to let me go longer to try for vbac naturally or just have a relaxed csection that I feel in control of. Phew. So let's see if baby makes an appearance over the weekend!

mrsb did you have red/pink blood after your sweep? She was rougher with me than my midwife so I just wondered if that was normal.

Thanks Bingo. Will book it in.

Sweet that would upset me at this point in time. After multiple miscarriages when TTC, I am literally egging this baby on. Hiccups and short periods of inactivity make me anxious. You friend probably just pressed send all without thinking. The problem of fb and social media in general.

LondonJen I am getting this kind of scrabbling feeling downstairs. Like lo is trying to seek out the exit.

Lily31 · 03/10/2014 16:37

Fingers crossed things start moving for you Sazzle

LondonJen · 03/10/2014 16:49

I'm really pleased for you Sazzle both options sound just what you wanted.

Lily yeah if it makes my plug go or something then it will be worth it!

ohthegoats · 03/10/2014 16:52

Kirsti - keep focused on 7th. That'll be it. Until then plan loads of things to do. I've got my head on 8th now, I'm going to do my best not to get angry until then. A weekend of very little ahead - it's the last one EVER where you get to read a book all afternoon/watch a film in the daytime/go outside without loads of notice/carrying of lots of multi-coloured plastic.

The reflexology lady has relaxed my body and my head... I'm going to drink red wine tonight, even if it gives me heartburn. So NUR. Red wine and possibly some blue cheese.

mrsb87 · 03/10/2014 16:57

Ah great stuff sazzle, I'm glad you have a plan! Yes there was a bit of blood on her gloves after and she said there might have been a tiny bit after (there wasn't).
Managed to clean my sofas of dog hair today. That was enough to be honest, having a rest now and being booted so hard it actually hurts! If you're struggling for space baby why don't you GET OUT! lol.

SummerDreams13 · 03/10/2014 17:26

Haha Mrsb, that's what I've been telling my bump all week! One week to due date - it's free to make its entrance any time it wants; would prefer that to this insistent digging in my rib.

Sweet - I wouldn't handle that well either, though it sounds like not thinking it through enough rather than anything personal. I got grumpy at the ad for Panorama the other day for the same reason.

Kirsti me said I was 3/5 engaged but not that that would be it til labour - is that for definite then?

Not sure if I'm the only one feeling this, but the closer to D day I get, the lack of symptoms etc makes me feel further away than ever...like maybe it's going to start shrinking back to nothing?! Can't quite make myself believe it's really going to be here in the next few weeks. Considering dtd every morning and tiredness / backache / acid reflux changes my mind every evening!!

Pregnantagain7 · 03/10/2014 17:46

When I was pregnant with my first my midwife told me that I was 3/5ths engaged I was moaning that everyone was saying my bump was high and that the baby needed to drop. She told me the baby was as far in as it would go until labour. I've never heard anyone being 5/5ths enagaged but maybe I'm wrong about that.
I honestly wouldn't worry about how engaged you are as I've lots if friends who weren't engaged before labour started.

Missus2ndwife · 03/10/2014 18:00

Sweetpea it's a tough one as your friend probably didn't think and understandably you will be sensitive. I would be the same as you.

Goats you make me laugh with your red wine and blue cheese! Do it girl and enjoy

I'm aware my tummy has has suddenly grown but FFS I've had enough of the 'still a month to go and you're so big' comments.

Missus2ndwife · 03/10/2014 18:03

Oh and re flu jab: my MW mentioned it to me yesterday.
Said it was better to get it done whilst pregnant because I wouldn't have to pay for it then, but after pregnancy I would.

I always thought it was free

Kirstipops · 03/10/2014 18:18

Oh no don't get me wrong lol, I've no idea about the engaging thing, I just worried for a second that since Binky was told she wouldn't engage any more being only a week off her due date I wondered if that'd be the same for me - since in I'm zero fifths engaged and PAST my due date so I wondered if any attempts to engage at this point would be pointless, like there wasnt enough time by now or something!!

Thank you folks for sharing my tantrum Grin

Sazzle that's great you have a plan of action, must be a weight off your mind!

Sweet yep that's a bit much being invited to like that page, I agree it was prob an invite to everyone on her friends list tho and she prob hasn't even thought Confused.

Yep Goats fingers crossed we go next week! Tis a bummer DH is working this weekend, would have liked some nice quality time, heyho. Was talking to him after the hosp today and he isn't keen on the sweep on Friday, thinks its too "unnatural", I said "Well a shag would probably just do the same kinda thing" with a cheeky hopeful smile, but no, he thinks that'd be forcing baby out before it's ready as well. FuxakeAngry.

Kirstipops · 03/10/2014 18:19

Keen on MONDAY's sweep even.

madamweasel · 03/10/2014 18:19

missus it probably depends on your area as I'm sure it's a postcode lottery but I've always managed to wrangle jabs for free. Although the maternity exemption certificate might also cover it this year. I think our GPs have quite a liberal attitude to jabbing anyone who is interested...prevention and all that.

I'm totally going to hammer the free dental treatments in the next year, this pregnancy has been bothering my gums but I can't be bothered with an appointment this side of the birth.

ohthegoats · 03/10/2014 18:38

kirsti I get the feeling that boyfriend thinks the same as your bloke - doing anything is 'forcing it out' - if either of them were this pregnant, they'd be doing anything they could to get it out - fact! Running a bit scared me thinks.

I just said about going out for wine and cheese, to which I was told I 'could' have a small glass of red wine. This from the man who is still drinking cans of Stella pretty much EVERY NIGHT. Even though I asked him to pack it in at week 35, week 36, week 37, week 38, week 39 and week 40. He can kiss my arse, I'll do what I like... he is. Mmmmm wine...

Me23 · 03/10/2014 18:41

Re engagement 3/5th engaged is as engaged as you will get prelabour, picture where your pelvis is ad the size if t and that 5/5ths is the whole of baby's head in the pelvis it would be practically falling out! Which would make labour and pushing a lot easier for us!

Re vitamins they also made me feel ill but I have been taking them since my 28 week bloods revealed hb of 8.5 and had my vitamin d checked too and it was obsencely low it should be above 75 but it was 20! So I hae been taking 3000 iu vit d a day the government recommends only 400iu a day for pregnant women this is so low I bet many pregnant women are deficient without knowing. I worry about baby's bones now as I went through my pregnancy so low in vit d. Baby will need vit d supplements from birth to hopefully avoid complications.

Missus2ndwife · 03/10/2014 19:37

I really fancy wine now.

Happytimes31 · 03/10/2014 20:36

Ladies, do I need to take my witch hazel, tea tree oil etc to hospital? Thanks Smile

Kirstipops · 03/10/2014 20:41

Argh could whoever it was who asked to join FB group please message me, I think I've missed somebody!?

Kirstipops · 03/10/2014 20:48

Happytimes I'd read on here that a few drops of witch hazel on your maternity pad is nice and soothing, as well as some mixed in some water and poured over your bits while you wee, takes the sting out or something?

hefner · 03/10/2014 20:55

I've got a question for Me23 or anyone else who's knowledgeable! My baby is only 1/5 engaged at 40+4. I thought this was relatively common for a second baby, but today when I went for a sweep the midwife said she'd have to be really gentle as she couldn't risk breaking the membranes with the baby's head so high (although in the end she didn't do a sweep as my cervix was closed). Does this mean that it would be dangerous if my waters went naturally? If I go into labour soon, do I need to phone the hospital as soon as my waters break?

Re vitamins, I stopped the pregnancy vitamins after 12 weeks but I've continued taking vitamin D.

Me23 · 03/10/2014 21:01

hefner I wouldn't worry, if baby was completely free in the pelvis and an unstable lie I.e kept changing positions from head down to transverse then mw would be right to be wary if water goes in case of cord prolapse, however at 1/5th your baby head has already entered pelvis so very unlikely cord would get past. Cord prolapses are rare anyway.

BadgerInBury · 03/10/2014 21:06

Oh my word, I'm such a grumpy creature tonight. I've just had a whole imaginary row with my chap over nothing, for no reason, and all silently in my head - and then I realised I was giving him the stinkeye in real life too. Time to red card myself and off to bed...

Happytimes31 · 03/10/2014 21:07

Thanks kirsti so given that you go to the loo in hospital probably a good idea to take some! Thanks also everyone for the clarity about engaging, mine is currently still 1/5 engaged and I stupidly thought it had to get to 5/5 before sweeps and labour and things Blush

hefner · 03/10/2014 21:28

Thanks, that's reassuring. He's been head down for ages, and 1/5 engaged for a couple of weeks.

I'm in such a mood this evening. I bought mayonnaise from the shop today and ate some and gave some to dd at tea time before noticing it was use by May 2014 so now I feel really guilty for possibly poisoning dd and the baby. Then FIL messaged DH to ask if there's any news (as if we'd forget to mention it) and said they are "trying to be patient but it's hard" FFS! How do you think I feel?! And they've just booked flights to come over on Wednesday even though there's no sign that the baby will be here by then. Grr, I don't want DH to waste his annual leave before the baby arrives and I don't want to take dd out of preschool twice but she'll want some time off when the baby arrives but she'll obviously want to see her grandparents while they're here. They had said they'd wait till baby arrived then check with us before booking flights and now suddenly they've just booked a random date. Aargh!

hefner · 03/10/2014 21:29

Sorry, that thanks was to Me.

Badger, I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one being grumpy!
