Hear hear!

Can't see pictures on the app, so totally going to have to log in on my laptop aren't I?!

Threesoundslikealot · 26/09/2014 00:06

We've got one of these.

m.nctshop.co.uk/product/4367

We were lucky enough to get a second hand one barely used and both of mine have slept in it. In fact it's been in constant use for 3.5 years as it converts from a co-sleeper to a travel cot which we use as a permanent cot. So my 15 month is in it now.

Turquoisetamborine · 26/09/2014 00:50

Urgh wide awake from sleeping at 9pm as DS has an irritating cough and I've let him in our bed as things like that worry me and I'd rather have him near.

Had booking in appointment yesterday and I'm 7 weeks today. She didn't seem concerned about the tiny bit of brown spotting I'd had but I'll find out for sure on tues as my scan.
She said straight away I could have an elective section when she heard about my unicornate uterus and one kidney so I was grateful I don't need to fight for it. I'll be consultant led.
So sorry to hear about Cariad and Space. My heart goes out to you and all the early losses.

Happy Friday ladies!

Tori -hope you manage today's shift okay x
Hope you get to have a lie in Turquoise

Had a freak out last night but know I'm being silly. For the first time, I couldn't get to sleep, was very hot and had a bit of wind. All things I remember from the night before my early mc last time. Of course, I'm also on the cusp of 9 weeks now so also probably some changes are to be expected. Boobs still hurt like hell though, which is comforting Grin

Must. Learn. To. Relax! (Today, we are pregnant) Smile

Titsalinabumsquash · 26/09/2014 06:58

I'm having nightmares SadBlush

I had such a bad pregnancy with DS3 then a shock 16 minute "labour" (waters gushing to delivery!) I have silent labours and don't feel contractions or tightenings of any kind.
Last time I was treated so badly at the hospital by the consultant (not the midwives, they were great)

I want a csection this time, I want so control and reassurance but I know I'm going to have to fight to get it. I had such bad pre and post natal depression because of my treatment. I can't risk that happening again.
Plus I'm 20 minutes from the hospital with completely clear Robards and favourable traffic lights. I won't get to a hospital in time and I'm not a candidate for a home birth because of complications with my health.

Fluffeh · 26/09/2014 07:05

Tits try to get your midwife on side and ask her to write or speak to your consultant.
I'm sure I heard that every woman has a right to a section.
Still haven't heard from a midwife here. I saw my GP 2 weeks ago and he said he would contact the caseload team but I've heard nothing. I think I'll ring the surgery today and see if he's done it. I've no reason to think he wouldn't, he's usually pretty good with things.
Space and cariad, I am so sorry for your loss. Please be kind to yourselves x
I'm sitting out the bmi argument as I suffer from an ed and don't want to open a can of worms for my self. Does anyone know if we have to get weighed by the midwife? I am seriously panicking about her weighing me and making a record of it. I don't want a record of it anywhere and it's really affecting me thinking about it.

Turquoisetamborine · 26/09/2014 07:22

Fluffeh, yes I got weighed at booking in yesterday and then they worked out my bmi. Sorry.

jazzyjenbo · 26/09/2014 07:24

Morning
Fluffah.. I suppose u hav a right to opt out of being weighed but they would prob insist on it as its one of the ways that they can assess for 'risk' factors.. Gestational diabetes being one of them. They would also want to know your weight just incase there was any reason for an anaesthetic. It can also be used to decide if you are low or high risk.

Sorry some of u are finding getting to sleep a nightmare. I can get to sleep fine, staying asleep is another think with 2 little monsters not sleeping atm! Been up since 5.30

Sunshinesaz86 · 26/09/2014 07:34

Morning ladies! I'm so glad it's Friday weekend off after two 6 day weeks on the bounce!

Fluffah I also got weighed at booking appointment.

Kitty try not to panic (easier said than done I know) each week is getting closer to 12 weeks and scan date so relax and try to enjoy!

My symptoms have died down a bit not as much stomach pain thank god, boobs still sore.
I have a slight predicament tonight going out with best friend for a birthday meal tonight who just got engaged yesterday how on earth I going to get out of not celebrating with a glass of bubbly? Or do I tell her and ask to keep schtum but then I feel I may be pissing on her engagement chips with our news ever so slightly?! Argh!

speedbird17 · 26/09/2014 08:01

Accept a glass of bubbles, to toast with, but when you sip keep lips together? And order a soft drink too?

BeanCalledPickle · 26/09/2014 08:29

One glass is ok though? I had a glass at a wedding. Are you normally a massive drinker such that people will notice? I drank a lot of vodka lime and soda. Without the vodka! You need someone on your side, someone you can ask for a vodka who brings you soda:-)

jazzyjenbo · 26/09/2014 08:39

I would hav the 1 glass of fiz

jazzyjenbo · 26/09/2014 08:40

I would hav the 1 glass of fizz, i did that last weekend at a 30th wedding anniversary.. But then just coke. Maybe hav a word with waiter or get dh to order for u. Or drive????

speedbird17 · 26/09/2014 08:41

Bean I totally agree, and with DD had a glass here and there at weddings/birthdays/Christmas etc but I know not everyone does or will. There is a lot of info out there about drinking in pg and it really is your choice - I personally made an informed choice and perhaps had the equivalent of 6-7 large glasses through my entire pg (minus the first 7 weeks where I didn't know and was enjoying my DH's last ever freshers week as a post grad!! Oops!).

The vodka lime soda is a fab idea - I'm a rum and coke girl so a virgin libre is definitely on the cards when I go out with both my sil's this weekend!

BeanCalledPickle · 26/09/2014 08:47

I personally don't think there is a problem with the occasional glass. However we were in Singapore and I was dying for a Singapore sling at raffles. It was 97pc humidity, 30 degrees at 9pm and I was shattered and dehydrated. In those circumstances one glass was not a good idea. I would have ended up on the floor!!

kittiker · 26/09/2014 08:53

So sorry I posted a totally facile coment in the middle of others' sad news and condolences - I was typing as others were posting.

My thoughts are with everyone having a hard time.
K x

speedbird17 · 26/09/2014 08:55

Bean after 3 slings at Raffles, not pg in the slightest I actually did end up on the floor!! (Although I had been at Ku Dé Ta in Bay Sands first) definitely not the best drink if you're dehydrated!!

Deftones · 26/09/2014 09:20

I'm a drinker, and sadly gave this bean a heavy soaking of red wine on my honeymoon last week Sad however it is currently a blastocyst so feeding off the yolk not me!

I won't touch a drop now, not due to being a righteous scrote but because I'll miss it too much Grin I love booze.

Still not feeling pregnant, I feel different as in the odd wave of nausea, back ache, tired beyond the norm and bloated but no proper symptoms like last time but what shall be will be!

sorry to hear of more losses, be easy on yourselves please Thanks

CheerfulYank · 26/09/2014 09:52

Here in the US you have to have the diabetes test no matter what your BMI is. Eurgh, not looking forward to that!

I'm another who doesn't feel pregnant. I guess I can't really believe it. :) I don't have an appointment til Oct 20th, sp maybe when I hear the heartbeat it will seem like it's actually happening.

I'm going to find out what I'm.having I think...just so I can start rearranging the DCs rooms in my mind. :)

LinaDee · 26/09/2014 09:57

Well after the bleeding at 5 weeks, the hcg levels not doubling and all the ridiculous tummy pains, I've just seen my wee bub with a nice strong heart beat and starting to really look like a wee baby. Measuring 8 + 2

I'm so delighted and feel like I can finally relax! Roll on my 12 week scan on the 24th of October Grin

CheerfulYank · 26/09/2014 10:11

Aww, that's lovely Lina! :)

MsMittens · 26/09/2014 10:36

Deftones I was in a similar situation to you with DC1. We came back from our honeymoon PG. Honeymoon was in Brazil and Argentina and of lot of wine tasting tours and dinners. Pleased to report DC1 is not a lush

As for drinking in PG generally, last time after 12 weeks I had a glass of wine/bubbly if or when I fancied it (which was not as often as I expected!). IMO it is one of those things that is down to the individual.

Fluffeh I am in the same boat as you and panicking re being weighed by midwife as I fear it will send me into a negative spiral. Pretty sure they weighed me at booking in last time. I think it is to help them to assess whether you may face any additional risk factors or require further appointments due to elevated BMI. In my case I saw a consultant once, who laughed and exclaimed about the issues with the tick box system that the NHS sometimes adopts and sent me straight back to midwife led care. So although it is scary, it is just for the sake of your little bean so that I what I tried to focus on last time.

re C-sections, my understanding is that it is best to be prepared when you go and speak to your midwife and to be familiar with NICE guidelines re elective C-section. You can find more information here but I would be super pushy if you are sure it is what you want - your body, your baby and so surely it should be your choice! www.nhs.uk/conditions/caesarean-section/Pages/Introduction.aspx

I am excited about passing the 8 week mark, but no scan until 27 October. Very temped to arrange an early private scan but what can you tell at this stage? Is it worth it?

aberjen · 26/09/2014 10:39

Awww, Lina, that's brilliant!

Fluffeh maybe have a chat with your midwife, and see what she says. If they're insistent your weight must be measured is it possible for them to note it on your electronic record but not in your maternity notes? Do you think that would make it easier for you?

Quite excited, DD is at an all-day nursery settling in session and DP and I are off to the cinema! For the first time in about 2 years! Hurrah!!

Snooky17 · 26/09/2014 11:24

Great news Lina
I too am a bit worried about being weighed my BMI is 29 but have been prescribed higher dose folic acid because of my 2 consecutive miscarriages anyway, I have booked an early scan, however had early scans with both my losses both had heartbeats at 6 weeks so I do know it doesn't necessarily stop the worry.
