Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mum2kiss · 24/09/2014 18:21

Oooh I want to try my buggy out now fedup! Would it look to weird if I put my 6 yr old in it?!

sazzlehopes · 24/09/2014 18:33

Thanks so much for all your advice. I didn't bother with a sweep with ds but I wasn't feeling like anything was happening anyway so happy to be a but overdue. This time with allthe ridiculous maybe I'm in labour moments over the last week I feel I want to know if this will start stuff....

me23 thanks for that info. Yes as a vbac person I would like to avoid the induction drip, otherwise I know I'll feel I should have opted for elcs. I know the doubt will creep in!
Can you tell doing a sweep if the woman is close to giving birth, as in she's sort of ready....

Me23 · 24/09/2014 19:17

sazzle thats the million dollar question! You would think that you should be able to tell but I've found it doesn't work like that unfortunately I've done many sweeps on women were everything was favourable and looks ready to labour but then I see them a week later still waiting! Vice versa have done sweeps were I was barely able to do it and women have laboured the next day! All this talk of sweeps today I examined myself cervix very posterior and closed! But soft!

I've got mine on 6th October when I'll be 9 days overdue Grin , wonder if I'll make it that far, though 6th October was my own estimate for baby's arrival so maybe the sweep will do the trick!

sazzlehopes · 24/09/2014 20:15

Sorry me23! Haha Grin Grin Grin

Oh well, off I try tomorrow!

Me23 · 24/09/2014 20:19

Omg was exclamation happy in that post, sorry everyone Grin

My mw friend has offered to give me a sweep next week if I want to, will see how fed up I am by then.

ohthegoats · 24/09/2014 20:43

The date the consultant gave me for next appointment and 'we'll do a sweep', is 7th October. I have my original due date as 4th. Kind of hoping I'm done by then. Friend who is due day after me is 4/5 engaged and loads lower than me.

Lunch today was actually great, some baby talk but also normal conversation. One of my nct women had a 55 hour labour after induction. Nice. Erk.

ohthegoats · 24/09/2014 20:44

7th will make me 41+2, which I'm more comfortable with than a sweep in week 40.

Grannyapple · 24/09/2014 21:34

Ooh kirsti I was booked in for a sweep at 40+10 with DS...waters went & he was born the day before so I think he knew!

I had 2 sweeps with DD about 5 days apart when I was 40 + 6 for the 1st one..bishops score was 7 for the 1st & then 9 for the 2nd...lots of walking in between both sweeps & after 2nd, plus sex after the 2nd & I went into labour the day after.

I'm hoping for a sweep around 39 wks with this one but was told policy is 41wks for our trust area Hmm

Shirehobbit · 24/09/2014 21:40

I didn't have to think about sweeps with DS, but my instinct is to refuse any offers until I'm approaching 42wks - though I take on board Me23 s point that they can help avoid needing a drip induction.

Looks like we're going to be due another influx of babies in the first week of October, reading today's predictions from you all.
I hope all is ok with Portico too.

Pregnantagain7 · 24/09/2014 21:50

Hey all thanks for all the nice comments earlier :)
I'm feeling much better this evening think I'm just hormonal and every little thing just seems massive at the moment. Just had a Chinese takeaway with dp and sat chilling. I'm very envious of the mummy's to be with no little ones much as I adore my gang and would never be without them it's bloomin hard work at the mo!!

My nipples have decided to swell up into big lumps attractive and are so sore it reminds me of the feeling you get when your milk is coming in they are boiling hot too. Another random symptom I've never had before!

I'm starting to get very excited at the idea of another little one joining our family can't wait to see them all together and my family complete (which it definitely will be!)

goats I wouldn't worry about how engaged you are with my first I was only 2/5 engaged and went into labour the next day.

Anyone lost their appetite? I'm really struggling to eat a few mouthfuls and I'm full not like me at all Grin

Pregnantagain7 · 24/09/2014 21:52

Oh my sweep is a week on Monday I will be 39 weeks I've lost count of how many I've had in the past and they've never worked but I'm willing to have a go don't think it will do any harm and you never know it may just work this time :)

MrsDinoRawr · 24/09/2014 22:06

I'm usually just a lurker as thread moves so fast takes me hours to catch up. Just thought I would let you know I had a sweep today at 37+4 just incase it got things moving before being induced on sat due to high blood pressure. It didn't hurt but was a bit uncomfortable. Midwife said cervix was still high but 1cm dilated so she was able to perform the sweep. Pretty convinced it will do nothing but as consultant said at least I know what to expect from internal exams during labour. Had a few tummy pains and braxton hicks but doesn't feel like anything is really going to happen.

ohthegoats · 24/09/2014 22:23

I'm glad that the running in the pool is working for someone mrsb!

I'm actually wondering if we need to get our 'ducks in a row' regards the house and some other bits before I relax enough for labour to happen. I want some financial paperwork to come through, the bathroom to be complete, the drains to be working properly, boyfriend to be in a position to leave work for a while (although he got offered a new job today, so that one might be moot now). We're 'ready' now, but not mentally. This might be tosh, but I know people who've found they just needed final things to slot into place before the happy hormones flowed.

ldt87 · 24/09/2014 22:44

Need some advice please ladies, dh is 3 hours away with work and I can't figure out if I'm in early early labour or having Bratton hicks! Obviously need him home if it's the real deal but can't quite judge it at the moment. Any tips on the difference between Braxtons and real contractions?

mrsb87 · 24/09/2014 22:51

I was told if it'd labour the contractions will be regular and painful. Braxton hicks can hurt a little bit but usually go if you change what your doing ie if you're walking, sit down and vice versa.

YellowWellies · 24/09/2014 22:58

Goats I think that can be very true. I'm hoping so in my case so it allows me to write up my last project!

ldt87 · 24/09/2014 23:02

See they're not painful but are uncomfortable and something about it is making me think it's not Braxton hicks, but I'm scared to call him all the way home on a false alarm!

fedupofrainydays · 24/09/2014 23:13

Are they regular ltd?

YellowWellies · 24/09/2014 23:14

My waters have just gone! Smile

fedupofrainydays · 24/09/2014 23:15

Ooooh good luck yellow!!!

mum2kiss · 24/09/2014 23:16

The regularity is a good indicator. My midwife said to give them a call for advice if I'm getting 4 or more per hour that don't go away after drinking water. Dehydration can cause contractions so make sure you've had enough to drink.

I don't know what star wrap to get...thinking maybe raspberry as we don't know if we're having boy or girl...

ldt87 · 24/09/2014 23:17

Well. I've been timing them using an app and they are between 4 and 6 mins apart lasting around 50 secs. But time between them does vary so I'm unsure really x

ldt87 · 24/09/2014 23:20

Ahhh exciting yellow look forward to hearing from you x
