Just Shagging 12th Thread for graduated viroids

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the 11th grads thread...celebrating the success of Just Shagging in getting us viroids upduffed grin

For those that don't know, a 'viroid' is from the original JSing thread 1, where someone was trying to type ladies (in reference to all the JSing ladies), but their phone decided to call us all viroids instead!

The name stuck and we've been the JSing viroids ever since.

The thread we have graduated from is here in its 27th outing.

There is also a Just Mumming thread in postnatal here once your babies come along, or to keep up with the graduated graduates!

There is also a secret facebook group, if you want to join, ask in-thread.

So, roll call below please, viroids! smile

Thinking of you la!

I have a work dilemma! I'm self employed childminder and I have a parent coming to have a look around on Thursday for Childcare. Do I or don't I tell her I'm pregnant. If I tell her she almost certainly will choose someone else to avoid having to find him another place when I go on maternity leave...but if I don't tell her I almost feel like I'm lying?! Confused

wilmabedrock · 22/09/2014 09:16

How many weeks are you lauren and how long do you plan to take off? People get all funny about childcarers having the same rights as other female workers I find.

Really your work situation shouldn't have to suffer because you're pregnant but I may be inclined to say if I was past the three month mark, especially if you're telling other people then.

laurenamium · 22/09/2014 09:17

I'm only 9 weeks wil and none of the other parents know yet. I think I'm safe then? Ill be past 12 weeks when he starts though as its a November start date!

wilmabedrock · 22/09/2014 09:19

Sorry La, also thinking of you. Hope everything is ok.

I have an emergency dental appointment this morning. Think I need root canal but not sure what will happen due to being upduffed. V scared, I hate going to the dentist.

wilmabedrock · 22/09/2014 09:28

I think you're quite within your rights not to say. Although the start date is a pain as she's probably going to either know or notice before he starts. I think I wouldn't say today, especially if you're trying to keep it under wraps and I assume she isn't a friend or anything? But whenever you decide to tell people, it may be an idea to contact her to let her know to avoid her finding out on the grapevine. Hopefully she loves you so much she won't change her mind!

KatoPotato · 22/09/2014 09:57

Thinking of you La, but I'm sure everything will be fine. Thinking back I had bleeds with DS, so much so that I counted them as periods! (remember I had no idea I was pg!)

That's a dilemma Lauren, but I'd echo other posters and tell her at 12 weeks?

Pisghetti · 22/09/2014 10:34

Hope it goes ok Wil I guess it depends on the dentist but when I was expecting DS two of my back teeth pretty much collapsed and I had awful toothache. I terrified of having a tooth extraction (don't know why - never had one) so he put temporary fillings in and waited until after I'd given birth to do the root canals on both sides (which in itself was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting).

I seem to have developed a small abscess on one of those same bloody teeth over the weekend! Not too sore at the moment so using Corsodyl until I can get an exemption form and an appointment.

Lauren I agree wait until the 12 weeks scan. Let the parents know in good time once you're ready. My old childminder used to take her summer holidays in term time but she would make alternative arrangements with other childminders in the area. It may be helpful if you have contacts the parents could use to make alternative arrangements while you're off?

Hope you're ok La x

Monday again? Boooo! ML seems very far away.

RPopz · 22/09/2014 11:01

Hugs La - hope work's ok!

Eek, hope it goes ok at dentist Wil. DH had root canal without anaesthetic once.... Shock Shock

I'd probably not tell her Lauren - especially if its not common knowledge yet. You could phone her after 12 week scan so that still gives her an opportunity to find someone else if she really wants!

ZylaB · 22/09/2014 11:03

Fx la and hope dentist goes ok wil

This is my 6th week off work and I'm losing track of days!

laurenamium · 22/09/2014 12:10

Thanks everyone! There's another 2 childminders I would recommend when I tell parents, and hopefully some if not all will come back to me afterwards! I do have a very long waiting list for full time spaces so hopefully won't struggle when I go back to work! Ill wait til 12 weeks and give her a ring! It's not bread and butter money so not the end of the world if she doesn't want me when I tell her but would be nice for a bit extra! Grin

wilmabedrock · 22/09/2014 12:56

Have antibiotics and need a root canal. She says I can get it whilst pg if I want. So if it's safe I'm going to do that because in my experience you feel worse with a newborn than you do pg! Bloody tooth hurts though.

How are you coping being off work zyla? Going crazy or bit of a relief?

Popz I am nowhere near as hard as Mr Popz. I barely let them touch me without an anaesthetic.

splodge77 · 22/09/2014 13:01

hi all, sorry to hear about the worry la, fingers crossed all is ok.

Anyone else in the early weeks feeling lunaticly emotional? My little boy cried when I dropped him at nursery today and I had to dash out of there to avoid bawling myself. Oh dear. I still haven't had my booking appointment. GP said they'd send a letter but nothing yet. Hmm.

ZylaB · 22/09/2014 13:47

I'm going a bit loony tbh wil I think if it was after my 20 scan I'd be organising more. But I still feel a bit like I shouldn't yet.

Got consultant at the hospital on wed, DH is coming and he wants to talk to them about signing me off until I give birth cow of the added stress of the sugar levels and constant checking and adjusting, I'm more concerned about my blood pressure which needs checking too.

I've booked a private reassurance scan for wed pm as a bit of a pick me up and to make me happier until the 20 week hospital one which is at 21 weeks. I've found I get slowly more and more stressed and worried between scans!

ZylaB · 22/09/2014 13:54

Hope your tooth gets sorted soon wil !

laurenamium · 22/09/2014 14:02

Just checking in from work...by work I mean MN from the sofa with a 7 month old baby asleep on me Grin he's all twitchy and dreaming...

I've got my 12 week scan letter too, and it's at a time I only have one other child so only one parent to cancel on with a vague "medical appointment" excuse Confused

wilmabedrock · 22/09/2014 14:16

Thanks zyla, me too. Can they make you start your mat leave early if you don't go back?

Aw a wee 7month old, how cute! How many children can you have at once?

ZylaB · 22/09/2014 14:25

They can only start it a month before your due date if you're off sick so it's not too bad.

Glad your scan fits in as well as it can lauren :)

ZylaB · 22/09/2014 14:26

And the fact my due date won't actually be the date she arrives helps me out some too! We'll see what they say on wed. It's weird, the hospital tell me to stay home but my gp had to sign me off, so she only does 2 weeks at a time, it'd be nice to know what's happening :)

RPopz · 22/09/2014 17:26

I think he only had it without anaesthetic because it was an emergency Wil ... He's not that hard Wink

Nessalina · 22/09/2014 18:21

Argh. My bloody stretch marks are absolutely flipping killing me!! Confused
I refuse to get any bigger!

Ugh poor you at the dentist Wil. I can't stand going. I practically skipped out last time when she said I didn't need anything doing!

I hope they can just sign you off Zyla - it seems mental to just do it two weeks at a time! Hmm

La - it was a lot more graphic than OBEM, showed the baby actually making it's exit sl-o-o-o-w-ly out of the lasses fanjo which made my eyes water Shock
It was more reassuring than OBEM in a way though - she was on a birthing stool, no screaming or crying, and it looked fairly straightforward in a way.

I'm definitely up for this active birth lark - I'm so uncomfortable laid down at the minute, I really like the idea of sitting up and bouncing about for labour. The birthing pools at the hospital look lovely, so I've got all my fingers and toes crossed for a water birth once we make it in to hospital.

wilmabedrock · 22/09/2014 18:39

My mum has all her dental work without anaesthetic as she is scared of injections. Mentallist.

The two week thing is annoying zyla, at least they haven't sent you for one of those tests which tells you you're fit to work when your leg is hanging off though.

What have you tried for stretch marks Ness? Massaging with cocoa butter or using aloe vera gel may help? Apparently drinking water is supposed to help too.

Leela5 · 22/09/2014 19:12

Hi viroids! Bleeding's stopped and I'm taking day off tomorrow to chill out a bit. Think my body was trying to tell me to give it a break!

I'm really annoyed though that I kind of had no choice but to tell those colleagues - I really wanted to keep it secret until after 12 weeks at least. Oh well...had to tell my office manager today as well because I had to say why I'll be late in on Wed (scan).

lauren legally you've every right to keep it to yourself until around 22 weeks I think, so I would tell or not tell as you wish. It's a long time away and you've every right to protect your income.
Is that not your main job then Lauren? Do you do something else as well? (you don't need to say what). Your job must be handy for looking after your dd :)

wil does that mean root canal without anaesthetic?

splodge I've had no emotional stuff just yet - still just a lot of wind! I'm definitely floating off sometime soon - watch for me flying over your houses

zyla are you happy to be off until you give birth? It does sound sensible. My mate had hyperemesis same as Kate and was off for the whole of her pregnancy.

ness I'd like a water birth too - I'd hate it if I couldn't have one. Do that happen often do you think? I think at least being vertical means gravity would help!

RPopz · 22/09/2014 19:15

That is mental! Shock

Haha, video sounds delightful Ness! Hope you can have a nice bath or something this eve to make you more comfy.

Got achey bump again today... stoopid work Sad Just got threatened and called all names under the sun by a gang of silly boys... such a delightful area we live in! Sigh.

Would you want all that time off Zyla? I think I'd go crazy with boredom!! But obviously you don't want to the extra stress I know.

When's the scan Lauren?? Grin Wish I had more to look forward to!

RPopz · 22/09/2014 19:16

Cross post La! Really pleased the spotting has stopped! Nice day off and scan to look forward to Smile x

laurenamium · 22/09/2014 20:05

Popz Shock at being called names by random boys in the street! I hope you gave them your best glare at least!

My scan is 13th October so a few weeks away, but it's 2 days before my birthday too so if all is well will be a nice present Grin

Childminding is my only job Smile I sometimes get paid to teach people to ride and to ride other people's horses but that's just on the side! I love being around for DD! I hope to open a nursery when I've finished having kids and they're in full time school, but that's another 4 years away at least! I'm allowed up to 6 kids at a time, 4 under 5 and as many as I like over 8...it can get a bit manic but I like to make sure I never have more than I can fit in the car in case of emergency!

Excellent news about the spotting stopping la! A very good sign!
