Durham - so sorry to hear you are still suffering so badly :(

I ADORE the name Elodie - I know one wee toot with the name and she is a delight. We have a girls name chosen - but it's staying a secret for now!

Anyone who wants in to the fb group, just give me a shout x

Junk I don't think I could manage full time with my own children in teaching so wanting to go part time is definitely reasonable. Are you able to afford it? I'm not coping without any kids of my own to worry about as the workload has exploded this term. I don't think my head will let me return part time but we've decided I'm leaving anyway and doing something else. You need to take some time off and sort yourself out without the ridiculous work stress.

Durham glad you're back out!

Rainbow thanks for the advice. Will take everything!

And toast it's about time I joined! Do I need to pm you my email add?

lotsoftoast · 05/10/2014 08:58

Yes please Pickled - the one you use for fb

Durham and Junk - sorry you're both going through such crap times. I love the name Greta - I know a little Greta and she's lovely. Can I ask what you all think if the names Alice and Nancy? I like these for a girl but would be interested to know opinions. I also like Skye but I feel that having no connection to the island it might be a bit odd to name our child that? I have been once, that's all, and I have a thing about place names for children if there is no real connection - am I being weird? We did like Sebastian for a boy, as has been discussed on here by others already! It's becoming really popular though, but I don't know if that really matters. We need to start writing down our ideas as I keep forgetting, especially the boys ones!

PickledPorcupine · 05/10/2014 09:48

Toast I literally have no idea! It all just logs in automatically. I will do some research on that later and get back to you Grin

Twittwooo · 05/10/2014 12:10

Well, I had almost a week of respite from sickness and now I'm back to feeling rubbish again! Not so much sickness, which I'm grateful for, but headaches again tinged with slight nausea. I hope it goes away soon, I was enjoying feeling normal again! I have my 16 week MW app next week, so looking forward to that as I can't remember what happens at it!

Rainbow555 · 05/10/2014 14:51

Well my brothers wedding was amazing but it was in a marquee and in true English weather style it turned to Autumn yesterday and was freezing! So I turned into an ice block and it has done my cold no favours! Feeling pretty bunged up today! Fly back to NZ on Tuesday so hoping it eases a bit by then!

On another note, anyone got weak bladder issues, been doing a lot of sneezing with this cold and twice I have been squatting or in a strange position and some pee has come out! Oh the glamour! Was expecting that further along not at 16 weeks! Tee hee!

Pinksun12 · 06/10/2014 05:09

twittwooo I love Alice! Would be my favourite, but it's impossible with our surname. Nancy I can't comment on as I have bad associations with that name, so too biased. Sorry you're feeling worse again.
Weekend was busy with the kids and nearly didn't feel pregnant, I seem to have arrived in the enery boosting 2nd trimester! Then I started worrying again but thank god I had a quiet few taps again so he/she is still there.
And my sure tell tale sign (I hope): I still can't stand coffee and I'm usually the queen of coffee, the stronger the better! I normally went back on it after 12 weeks or so but this time the smell still makes me heave!
And rainbow my bladder is getting weaker as well. But I thought this is normal after 2 pregnancies. Can't remember when it started during my first. Marquee in October doesn't sound great, hope the cold won't ruin your uk stay now.

lotsoftoast · 06/10/2014 08:15

I love Alice, it's a beautiful name. I have the odd leak if I sneeze while squatted or similar, the fact that I can sneeze 4/5 times in a row in a 'normal' position and not wee is impressive enough for me considering my third degree tear last time....I will concede that a squatted sneeze is just a sneeze too far!

Love the name ideas. Elodoie is really pretty also love Alice and Nancy, oh and Greta, at very first it sounds a bit hard maybe but when you go back to it its really, really pretty. I think we maybe having a boy, no idea why, just do. I have no boys names that I like, I think girls are so much easier.

Off for 20 week scan later today!! I can not believe I am half way there already its mad.

Sorry your still suffering Durham and that a few of you are feeling down. Hope it all starts to look up for you all soon.

M27J5M · 06/10/2014 10:44

Hi all, hope your all well! Loving all the name talk, loving elodie and alice :) tbh I'm loving all suggested names! We've been speaking about names but my partners surname is a night mate, really loved olli for a boy but partners surname is Daly and he burst out laughing and said "let's all go on out olli-daly's" yeah that's names been scrapped hee hee

HollyBen · 06/10/2014 11:10

Hope the scan goes well butter I love mine with DD. If it hadn't been for the uncomfortably full bladder I could have stayed all day.

I am with you on the pelvic floor issues rainbow. I have had an awful cough and thought I was going to have to buy some tena lady!!! Don't remember this with DD, but way well have blanked it.

DH and I haven't really discussed names yet. We really struggled with boys names when pg with DD. We have 5 girls names and a single boys name (which was a compromise and I don't think we would actually have used it)

coastergirl · 06/10/2014 11:54

I used the opportunity of a long car journey yesterday to finally discuss names properly with my husband. Several he just started singing silly songs or taking the mick lol, so those were vetoed. There are quite a few girls names we both like, boys are much more difficult.

Gudgyx · 06/10/2014 12:52

I've been struggling a bit with girls names. I absolutely love Summer, OH isnt keen but I think I might have to try and persuade him to go for it, I just really love it with her surname. I quite like Iona too, Summer is my first choice though. OH is struggling as he doesnt think anything goes with her surname as it would new! It would be Summer Scott btw, which I just think is beautiful.

We had our boys names all picked out too! Depending on how this pregnancy/birth goes and how I am after it, we're hopefully going to be TTC pretty much straight away again, so OH might get his boy then!

I didnt get to hear the hb at my 16w app either, although I bought a doppler a few weeks ago so I'm not so bothered about that.

persepolis123 · 06/10/2014 13:36

gudgy that's brave of you to be thinking about ttc the next one so soon! I think it makes sense to get the baby stage out of the way all at once though and I'm glad we will have a fairly small gap (2.4 years). I'm undecided on whether DC2 will be our last or not.

I love the name Alice. I think it's so pretty and timeless. Sebastian is great too but if you want to avoid popular names then I would probably go for something else as it seems to be having something of a resurgence.

Butterpuff · 06/10/2014 13:56

Gudgy I know someone with the surname Breeze who is hoping for a Summer! Its a little bit cheesy, but actually quite lovely. I think Summer is a great name.

I'm going to go shopping for a babyname book later, thought we could leaf through it on our long haul flight next Saturday and start thinking about names.

We had a very successful scan, baby was very wriggly but everything looked like it was where it should be and formed correctly. So that was wonderful. Last time I see baby before he/she arrives. Eek.

Twittwooo · 06/10/2014 14:20

All the suggested names are lovely - we have great taste! Thanks for all the positive feedback on the name Alice too - it's my favourite at the moment but I have a feeling this baby is a boy and still really struggling with boys names!

Gudgyx · 06/10/2014 14:29

Aw Summer Breeze, I love that!

I'd love to have a houseful persepolis! But we've read somewhere that you can only have 3 sections, so looks like that is it, unless my fistulas heal up completely in future, which I doubt.

I keep seeing wee baby twin videos online where they talk to each other in their own wee language and giggle away, I really want my children to be close together so they can be best friends.

HollyBen · 06/10/2014 14:29

That great news butter. My scan is on friday and I am looking forward to it. Though I am lucky to already have 28 and 34 week growth scans booked (due to my age).

I really like the name Summer. Alice is lovely too. We had Alyssa on our shortlist for DD which I still like. my fave girls name at the moment is Flora.

Butterpuff · 06/10/2014 14:40

Does anyone have any baby name books they recommend? I think we will be looking at traditional British names. It would be nice to have something to flick though but just went on amazon and the selection is huge and overwhelming...a bit like names themselves. Thanks.

persepolis123 · 06/10/2014 15:13

I’m not sure about books because we mainly look online. www.nameberry.com is quite a good one. I like that if you search for a name it gives you suggestions of other similar names you might also like.

Looks like DP has his heart set on Anisa for a girl. He let me have my way with DS and really wants a Persian name this time so I might go with it. I do think it’s pretty and quite different which is what we were looking for. Not sure how to spell it though because it’s pronounced ah-nees-a in his language so we can either spell it Aanisa or leave it as Anisa and accept that people in England will pronounce it differently.

Gudgyx · 06/10/2014 16:14

Oh I like Anisa! When I first read it there, I would have pronounced it the way you said it should be pronounced. And I'm scottish, we're good at making our own words up Grin

lotsoftoast · 06/10/2014 16:53

Gudgy, Posh Spice had 4!

Alice is lovely. My husband likes it too but my ex friend who I fell out with really badly, her sister has just had a little girl called Alice. I know I shouldn't really care but it'd just bother me. We have other girl's names we like anyway plus I think we are having a boy!

pinkandstripey · 06/10/2014 17:22

I downloaded a couple of name books onto my kindle and combined with internet sites. And I LOVE the ONS lists, you can go back by decade to 1880's, fascinating to see how trends change over time :)

My taste in names is not that exotic though, DS has a name which hovers around the mid 30's on the ONS lists for the last few years. My problem is that DP has about the most common surname going, so I really don't want to go with anything too popular. Shame, cos I love Oliver if it's DS2:( Think we are sorted for a girls name, but who knows lol! Not discussing it until 20 week scan :)
