rainbow i started worrying about stretch mark a while ago. mainly because my bump started off growing very fast. i have a couple of red lines . as of 2 weeks ago i have been covering myself in cocoa butter. im hoping that will help a bit

persepolis123 · 01/10/2014 14:23

Looks like we are team pink Smile Very pleased to have one of each but like gudgy we will wait until it’s confirmed at 20 weeks before going out buying clothes.

pinkandstripey · 01/10/2014 15:22

I love cocoa butter for stretch marks. Not sure it does any good, but it smells awesome :)

Congrats persepolis!

Misty - yes, I used Babybond for this pregnancy and with my ds and they have always been very good

Congrats perse.
I'm getting DH to run coco butter on my 'bump' most nights. I read somewhere it's a good way for daddies to bond (probably meant for when I have an actual bump!)

M27J5M · 01/10/2014 19:03

Hi all Smile eventually managed to catch up on here (now to catch up on fb page) moved house at the weekend and had a mega busy few days trying to unpack and get organised!

Aww it's nice to hear we have a few little girlies in the way :) 4 weeks tomor till We find out if we're team pink/blue

PickledPorcupine · 01/10/2014 19:12

Rainbow I have stretch marks all down both sides but I have grown at a ridiculous rate! They look like red scratches and bubble up.

Hope you're having fun in the UK. What was the temp like when you left? I don't know what to pack!

Lifeisabeach · 02/10/2014 03:39

I'm wide awake as DD has decided to come into our bed and as usual has pushed me over to the edge. Can't get back to sleep now.

If anyone fancies a giggle, have a look on the baby names board for the thread about naming a baby "Balonz". It's the funniest thing I've read in ages, have been shaking with silent laughter, trying not to wake DD and OH up. Grin

m33r · 02/10/2014 07:42

I loved 'balonz' thread but am now late for work!! In a very good mood now though! Grin

Rainbow555 · 02/10/2014 08:55

I know... I have old ones on my thighs but no idea how they started...unfortunately you have confirmed my fear they look like small red scratches yikes!! My skin had gone really dry in that area first so I think I need to get onto the coco butter too!!

pickled we have had a great spring so far and some days were really warm ( low twenties) but spring is known for a mixture so can still be cool. As an example I read that queenstown was 24 the other day and only 3 at night and then going to be down to 14 the next few days!! So my advice would be to pack for all weathers!! A few things you could layer up and a wind proof coat. It does depend where u are going, it varies so much around the islands!

Twittwooo · 02/10/2014 09:20

Hi everyone, as usual I'm way behind on this thread so haven't caught up properly but hope everyone is well. I'm so grateful to be feeling better at the moment - what a difference! Just read the Balonz thread and it's hilarious! I especially like that it sounds like the French for bollocks. We are still a bit stuck for names but won't be taking inspiration from that one!

lotsoftoast · 02/10/2014 09:50

whispers I think I might be feeling a little bit better! Trying to not get too excited but about bloody time!

OP posts:
M27J5M · 02/10/2014 09:51

You've made me giggle by sharing that name lifeis

I've had an eventful morning, been up all night with pains in my tummy, feels a bit like trapped wind but it's bloody painful, got me today so will mention to her! To top off my morning my DS was playing up trying to get him out to school, I kicked the couch (by mistake walking past) broke my toe (I think) and burst it all open! I feel like huber mating

smokeandglitter · 02/10/2014 10:58

M27J5M Huber mating sounds quite fun, though seeing as you're pregnant you may have already acheived the desired result? Loud huber mating calls tend to work well when looking to call a partner over. Grin

M27J5M · 02/10/2014 11:44

Ahahaha smoke I didn't even realise I'd wrote that, damn autocorrect!! Lol I'm guessing most people will pick up that's meant hibernating!! Hee hee I can't stop laughing Grin

smokeandglitter · 02/10/2014 18:48

Bless you, though M27J5M. Sounds awful. Your poor toe! 'Huber mating' made me chuckle though - I just thought of a nature documentary and some rare type of monkey or something!

I'm feeling suddenly huge and finding it really stressful. I have always hated my body and am really struggling with leaving the house because I'm so scared people will see me as fat. I know it sounds stupid and I am eating enough - I'd never risk hurting my baby - but I'm finding it really hard. Keep hearing about people not gaining weight in pregnancy and stuff and wishing I wasn't though I know I should be. It is just so noticable though, partly because I'm only 5ft and 1/2 an inch and usually am AA/A boobs but they're huge now and that was a trigger for my eating issues first starting age 11. Having extra scans to check baby's because of medication and my history of AN and know I should be loving seeing the baby/hearing the heartbeat but I find it so intrusive. No one but me has seen my tummy since I was a child, not even my DH. I don't know, maybe I'm not really making any sense, I think I just needed to tell someone.

Also having a lot of lower back and hip pain, but with hypermobile joints I expected it a bit (totally not enjoying the lack of painkillers, paracetamol just doesn't do it does it!).

M27J5M · 02/10/2014 20:14

Your making perfect sense, my sister suffer from body dismorphia so know(kinda) what it's like to want to hide your body etc! Go to your doc about hip pain, I was at my doc last week for spd and they offered me stronger painkillers that I couldn't take as often as paracetamol but to use when it was really unbearable xx

Pinksun12 · 03/10/2014 06:10

Oooh I'm saving the balonz thread for tonight in case I can't sleep. Mumsnet classics is also v entertaining for pregnancy insomnia sufferers

I felt the first (very gentle) kicks yesterday! Yay!!

lotsoftoast · 03/10/2014 06:41

Aww lovely pinksun Can't wait till we can all feel our babies wriggling about properly!!

What does everyone have on this weekend?

OP posts:
m33r · 03/10/2014 07:17

Morning ladies. I hope everyone is well. I think I've felt a couple of movements but not sure if it's wishful thinking!

Looking for some non-medicinal cold / cough remedies... Can anyone help?

Twittwooo · 03/10/2014 08:10

Morning all, I also have the sniffles but not sure it's an actual cold - think it's just what happens to me in pregnancy! So no remedies I'm afraid, apart from a honey / lemon / ginger drink which I always think helps with colds. I hope you feel better soon M33R. I'm hoping to feel movement soon - at 15 weeks I feel huge all of a sudden so there must be something going on in there! toast - my weekend plans include looking forward to going with husband and toddler to a baby / kids indie disco! And also preparing for parents evenings / end of term stuff (not looking forward to that bit so much ..)

NotAQueef · 03/10/2014 08:53

Also feeling and looking huge. 19w tomorrow but am as big as I was at about 25w last time. Can still hide it from the front but from side tis obvious. Ordered some maternity clothes from asos last week and were supposed to arrive before Monday. Got an email this morning saying the order had been cancelled due to a technical glitch i might have cried not happy, but they sent me 30% off and free next day delivery so that sweetened things a little, hopefully i shall stoop the bump squishing tomorrow.
It's dp's birthday on Sunday and we are going to London, really looking forward to it but dreading the inevitable pain on sunday night. SPD really kicking in now. Got my referral to physio through the other day so need to book an appointment. Apparently they offer acupuncture so might give that a go - anyone got any experience?

smoke sorry you're feeling so low x

smokeandglitter · 03/10/2014 15:16

Thanks for the support, it means a lot Smile

M27J5M Thank you, did not realise GP could do that! Will definitely go and see them! Yes, am diagnosed BDD too, think I underestimated how hard I would find physical changes and increasing calories at the same time as having people see your body constantly.

PinkSun Oh wow! That must be amazing - how exciting! I've felt tiny flutters at 15 weeks but not definitive movement yet!

NotaQueef So sorry you're struggling with SPD. Really hope you find something to help relieve the pain.

M33R I found rubbing this oil on my chest has helped with my cold symptoms. Tyger Balm dissolved in hot water as an vapouriser has helped too. I'm also thinking of looking into getting Eucalyptus oil for my bath, but haven't checked if it's safe in pregnancy yet. And totally agree with honey and lemon - or if you can't stand the acidity of lemon then honey and milk.

Lotsoftoast Mainly housework, I think, this weekend! And hopefully seeing a couple of friends!

fishfingerSarnies · 03/10/2014 15:37

Hello everyone, lost you all for a while.

Not much happening here, finally feeling better haven't been sick in over a week so life is good really.
Still not connecting at all though with the idea of this baby. Though my dd is so sweet and excited it's almost catching. One of my friends has a 12 week old and my dd is obsessed with him, wanting to know about feeding and watching everything his mum does looking after him. The other day we got home from being in the park with them and my dd cried because she hadn't said goodbye to the baby.

16 week appointment next week, so tempted to skip it feel like they are such a waste of time but guess it's not pointless if they spot anything is wrong. It's a shame they can't just give you the wee testing things and a doppler and get you to check yourself at home. Though I know a doppler can be tricky to use.

Sorry to hear about the spd sufferers, must be awful. Not had acupuncture for SPD but had it at the end of last pregnancy to bring on labour and really think that if a proper labour was at all going to happen the acupuncture would have done it. Would love to have acupuncture just for the sake of it but can't afford it.

Congrats to all the people who know what they are having.
Really hoping my dh can be talked into finding out, though he probably won't be at the scan so can't really stop me Grin
