Thought we'd better start a new thread, how many more will we get through before babies arrive??

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
cabster · 14/09/2014 00:51

Grump. Couldn't sleep as my wheezing was getting on my nerves, so head downstairs in search of my inhaler. Emptied out handbag... And changing bag... No inhaler. Gah.

Turn to stomp back to bed and oh, hello massive spider sitting between me and the door. Just then the cat comes in through the flap and breaks the deadlock, spider hides behind radiator and cat kindly escorts me back upstairs. Nice puss. I always knew you were alright.

So am now sitting in bathroom rummaging through the 184756 pockets of this bloody utilitarian organise-your-life twat of a handbag trying to find an inhaler that I've probably dropped in the park or something, while the spider roams unchecked downstairs.

I hate Septembers.

Hope you found it cabster, your cat sounds like a good un! Mine will hunt down and devour any flying beasties she can catch but spiders don't hold as much allure, too slow maybe! She'll paw at them then eat their legs and leave the body, the furry sadist!
I was supposed to be going out tonight but DH didn't get home from work til about 9 after working near to 14 hours. He proceeded to lie on the bed, where I joined him for a wee cheer up cuddle - and woke up 4 hrs later :-O Wouldn't normally feel bad about missing a night out but it was a charity do organised by friends, shit...

Kirstipops · 14/09/2014 02:26

(Hope you found the inhaler I mean, not the spider!)

porcito · 14/09/2014 03:04

Sure they'll understand kirsti! You did well for even thinking about it! I can barely get the energy to walk to the corner shop lazy beast

Hope you found your inhaler cabster! And the spider, eek. Hate them. We've got a monster one living in the beams somewhere. I was tempted to move out when I first saw it, give it the house

After last night's crazy gymnastics, cervix stabbing, baby didn't move at all today, so went to the hospital. As soon as they got the monitor out, she started kicking away. Again! I think she must wear herself out and then just sleep for the whole day after those sessions.

SummerDreams13 · 14/09/2014 03:13

Gosh, I don't read this post for a day and you lot give me a whole 45 mins of reading material for my regular middle of the night insomnia slot!

Slide, just wanted to say don't beat yourself up (though easier said than done) - I don't think your body or you can let your baby down. It's nurtured and protected it right up to the point it needed to and now it's handing over to the right people to finish the job.

My (American) MIL threw me a baby shower yesterday to coincide with my birthday, which was a really fab surprise. Does make if all seem very real though!

Those of you who've done this before - at 36+4 I've got a wriggly baby who's moving a good half of the time that I'm awake. It is cephalic and I get the slightly uncomfortable experience of a foot pushing into my ribs at the same time a head is shoving down into something painful (cervix?!) is this a baby without much room that might not make it to 40 weeks, do you think? In my thread lurking, nobody else has mentioned this kind of movement...

SummerDreams13 · 14/09/2014 03:15

And Kirsti, I think that's fine - DH says pregnancy gives me 'carte blanche' to duck out of anything, which is a loophole I intend to exploit for as long as possible Wink

fedupofrainydays · 14/09/2014 05:11

Hmmmm. Lying here having a mild panic. In my dream I was wetting myself, then woke up and really was water coming out of me and not urine. Went to loo and some more came out. Now stopped. Doesn't smell, and can't see as dark. But freaked out. Am 36 + 2. Part or me thinks it's just bath water coming back out but normally that happens right away. I really hope it's not my waters. Whatever, am packing a hospital bag in the morning (if I go back to sleep Hmm )

clairemiss79 · 14/09/2014 06:04

How exciting fedup! That sounds like your waters to me. You need to get it checked out asap. They can just trickle. My waters went with DD and it was only a small amount. I thought it was a drop or 2 of wee and they did a swab thing at the hosp ans induced me 24 hours later. Good luck :)

madamweasel · 14/09/2014 08:56

summerdreams I get that kind of movement everyday! I guess I just think it's normal because it was the same with DS and same as other 3rd trimester friends. The only thing I bear in mind is trying to sit with good posture and not slump backwards too much to try to make sure baby has as much room as possible. As they get bigger, expect the movements to get more painful, especially up under the ribs, that can be quite uncomfortable if they try to stretch a lot. I have no idea whether it relates to when you go into labour or size of baby but I went to 38+5 with DS so am expecting about the same again.

fedupofrainydays · 14/09/2014 09:06

Definitely waters. Going in. Feeling very scared

Pregnantagain7 · 14/09/2014 09:08

Ooh fed up that sounds like waters, def call the midwife!

summer I get movements like that a lot

I'm getting really bad back pain first thing in the morning it's low down on the right sacroiliac I think, bloody hell it makes me feel sick.

I've got fil and two bil's coming over today for Ds's birthday only nearly a week late but never mind! I'm feeling like such a hermit I really don't want people around me at the moment and the idea of cooking two chillis and a load of other crap is not filling me with joy!! At the time I thought it would be easier than a roast but it's now turned into a Mexican feast not what I planned fil will probably moan about food we don't get on brilliantly and I resent them coming over as they all park their arses and expect me to wait on them I usually deal with it by having a few glasses of wine don't know bow I will cope today!!

Sorry whinge over for today Blush

Pregnantagain7 · 14/09/2014 09:17

Ooooh fedup how exciting, I'm sure you're nervous but you will soon be enjoying newborn cuddles good luck :)

Me23 · 14/09/2014 09:18

fedup best of luck!

Thanks to everyone for the school advice it is a no brainer really isn't it. I'm just hoping dd doesn't put up a fight I wouldn't have though she would but I've been talking Ut up to her.
Hope things are well with slide

Today's mission is to buy rest of hospital bag stuff mainly pjs and knickers!

sazzlehopes · 14/09/2014 09:18

Pregnant good luck today. I know what you mean about feeling like a hermit.

I've dropped of the list, by the way bump super amazing job on it - so I'll try and add myself when I'm next on the computer...

I was 38 weeks yesterday and so have finally made the effort to pack my hospital bag and wash some baby bits which has made me feel better about baby arriving! I'm going for a VBAC so any positive stories of those would be much appreciated. I'm feeling generally good about it, I've had a good pregnancy and feel I can do it, but happy outcomes are always nice to read!
We are still in the throws of DIY but hoping that being on my knees painting skirting boards means I don't need to bounce on a birth ball. Baby is 4/5th engaged and had a scan to confirm it Thursday was his head wedged in there and not bum, so I guess ready to go here!!!

madamweasel · 14/09/2014 09:24

Good luck fedup hope today is a good day

cabster · 14/09/2014 09:24

fedup fingers crossed everything goes okay!

summer happy birthday!

Cat is now the queen of my heart. She followed me back to bed and purred so loudly that I couldn't hear myself wheezing, and I slept! Pity that was followed by an anxiety dream about tomorrow's scan, but you can't win them all. At least in the dream there was a family of badgers living in the hospital car park.

binkybunny · 14/09/2014 09:25

Good luck fedup how exciting!

summer I'm 36+2 and get those pushing grinding feelings a lot. Don't know about baby size, but I do know she likes doing it especially at about 1am and 4am.

buggerlugs I would give (nearly) anything for just one good night's sleep! In my breast feeding class on Friday we were told that milk often comes in about 4/5am, so I'm wondering if my regular 4am wake up is just my body getting me ready?

passmethewineplease · 14/09/2014 09:30

Good luck Fedup that's how my waters went with my first. How exciting. Grin

Not posted on these threads for a while, I always seem to forget about them! Blush

Feel so uncomfortable and tired now. DS is going through a no nap stage he used to be so good? Two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon. It was bliss. DR just started reception too and the school run is tiring me out..she likes it though, that's the main thing.

Hope everyone is getting on alright, can't believe October is next month. Shock

hefner · 14/09/2014 09:33

Good luck fed up! Hope things are going OK for slide.

Summer I can feel the baby pushing into my ribs and low down at the same time, getting quite forceful and uncomfortable now I'm 38 weeks. I think I remember feeling the same with dd and she stayed in until 40 weeks.

MundayCakes85 · 14/09/2014 09:36

Good luck fedup let us know how you're doing!

OP posts:
clairemiss79 · 14/09/2014 09:36

sazzlehopes I'm going for my 2nd VBAC. My previous one was totally fine. It was induced with the syntocin drip cos my waters had gone. Labour lasted 2 hrs and baby came out in 3 pushes!! Hopefully my next one will be as easy. I did refuse epidural though cos i thought if something was to go wrong i wanted to feel the warning signs so it was just gas and air for me. :)

Kirstipops · 14/09/2014 09:41

Ooh all the best for today fedup! Easy for me to say but try not to be scared, your body is a pro for baking and housing the baby all this time, it knows exactly what to do :)
Lol'd at your family of badgers Cab!
Happy bday to summer , I get those movements you were talking about too BTW. I'm 38wks yesterday too, not sure whether baby is even partially engaged yet or not (Is there any way of telling for yourself?).

38 week appointment tomorrow - will this be any different from my other appointments? Just wondered if it might be a bit more in depth given it's possible that the 38 wk appointments can be the last antenatal appointment you go for!

Pregnant I hope you don't knacker yourself out hostessing too much and you get some help from family today!

bumpbangbump · 14/09/2014 10:03

More babies on their way!! So exciting. Good luck fedup and hope to hear from slide soon too.

Not on the laptop at the most so can't update the list for sazzel and, um, will have to look back for the other person off the list. Will try to update soon if no one else does.

I need to have this baby now. So uncomfortable and moody. Had not yesterday and was unreasonably pissed off with oh and his lack of social participation. He just can't be bothered rather than finding it difficult or anything. Cue big row when we got home and going to bed on a mood!!! 37+3 so any time now please...

Pregnant, hope your visitors behave and give you a hand with getting the dinner on the table. Guests should really help a heavily pregnant woman, not expect her to wait on them.

gunwalloe · 14/09/2014 10:12

Blimey its all go :)

I hope its all going well slide
Congrats on your escape CJ
Scary times Stigz I hope you've had a good night
Good luck fedup
