Also agree with CJ- definitely go for the better school if you can.

Hello all

Have staggered out of delivery suite to somewhere the damn wifi works! Wasn't induced until 1930 yesterday, pessary has to stay in 24hrs, then VE to assess cervix. Strong regular period-type pains and what the MW calls 'tightenings' - not really sure if these are mildish contractions or not. All emotional; baby may need some special care and I have been in tears several times feeling guilty at my body letting him/her down when all the monitoring shows a happy wee'un. DM & DSis have bought tiny baby vests & babygros, washed & dried overnight, plus micro nappies. They are almost impossibly tiny!

Can hear other ladies making the most incredible noises Shock and the occasional baby cry too.
Have a room with an en suite - will be glad of the bath as my hoped-for water birth isn't happening - they can't monitor baby, who helpfully turned BTB earlier today... Altogether a loooong sore waiting game.

Ooh good luck Alfie; you might beat me at this rate!

That's really good news re: GD vs type 1 CJ, you must be so relieved. Smile

Will keep you posted when I can!

porcito · 13/09/2014 17:12

Good luck alfie!!

Cj hope your baby behaves so you can go home.

me, I'm secondary not primary but would agree, to turn a school around takes a while, so change now if you have the chance. I think the social aspect really helps in the classroom too, but that's just from my experience. If your daughter likes it when you look around, I'd go for it!

I'm pretty much walking around in curtains these days, bursting out of even my maternity clothes. What do people wear for labour? pjs? nothing? I'm sure i won't care, especially if I'm fighting with doctors about cutting me but need to pack something!

frau, I feel the same here. I get the Hmm face when I ask anything vaguely off course. I think they assume so many people to not have an idea and just blindly accept their expertise. I was worried about testing for Downs Syndrome etc and they made me feel like a fussing beast.

Up all night with stabbing pains right in the cervix every time she moved. Almost preferable to DP's dragon breathing...

porcito · 13/09/2014 17:15

cross post slide, sorry!
Hope everthing goes well, sorry you've h ad such a rough time. Not long now - you're in the best place, try not to feel bad! (ridiculous thing to say, I know). Good luck!

ExcitedCJ · 13/09/2014 17:40

Slide please try not to beat yourself up, it is far too easy to do & quite normal. I have been having the same feelings. Be nice to yourself, have a big cuddle with OH & you are doing well. Xx
I have been released, off to Wagamama for dinner right now & then bed for a big rest!
Have to go back tomorrow for another CTG just to check all still well with bub

Shirehobbit · 13/09/2014 17:46

Hugs SlideIn - you're bound to be emotional. Hope all goes smoothly and your LO arrives soon to put your mind at rest x

Good luck too, Alfie - hope everything progresses well x

Me23 - I agree with the others and making the change. I don't know if you have the 11+ in your area or not, but even without, Y5/6 are really good years to set foundations ready for senior school and you want her to be in a place where standards and expectations are high, for both work and behaviour, imo.

Shirehobbit · 13/09/2014 17:48

Enjoy Wagamamas CJ - I bet freedom tastes as good as the food!

ohthegoats · 13/09/2014 17:52

slide - hang in there, it'll be all over soon!

I bought my final bits for hospital bag today - long button down nightie thing and another jersey material flappy cardi instead of a dressing gown. I wasn't the only one in Primark buying for hospital reasons! Got a couple of 'lounge clothes' range long sleeve jersey tops with buttons down too - I realised that I might be planning on trying to breastfeed, but have nothing to wear to actually get my boobs out from easily. I figure a week or so at home in harem pants and floppy one layer jersey tops while on the sofa, will be a good thing.

Also got measured for a nursing bra - bit difficult to do at this point, but I want to try and avoid having to go into town in the first week or so. The lack of underwire is BAD BAD BAD. I hate it - slopey tits and much less support. I tried on about 10 different styles, but only bought one bra that has quite a lot of room for cup size expansion. The chance of me wearing bras that give me a silhouette like that for more than a week or so (or even out of the house), is nil. Will do some online shopping once I know my new bigger boob size.

Still haven't got a few bits (mattresses for example!), but that'll give me something to do when I finish work.

me - change schools.

binkybunny · 13/09/2014 18:10

Good luck Alfie and slide thinking about you both and hoping all goes well for you both.

Yay for you excited enjoy your meal, you definitely deserve it after your time in hospital.

me I'm not a teacher or parent, but my parents moved me two months before the end of my final middle school year to get me into the best high school, rather than the crudy one I had been allocated and I will always be grateful to them for doing it. I had a top class education and so many more opportunities (trips to America and an annual ski trip) compared to the other school. I'd say go for it as long as your LO is happy to make the move.

binkybunny · 13/09/2014 18:15

BTW been having period cramp type aches all afternoon while sat painting furniture in the garden, also had a little bit of sticky fluid lost but no Braxton hicks tightenings and have felt the baby move since coming inside and lying down. I'm presuming it's nothing to worry or call the midwife about is it? Also, sense of smell is through the roof, there's something in the kitchen making me gag, not had this for a while now!

Pregnantagain7 · 13/09/2014 18:27

Good luck slide try no to be too hard on yourself you will look back in a couple of weeks at this tough time and it will all be distant memory

Yay cj bet you can't wait for your own bed :)

me I would definitely move her my dd has just gone into y5 too we do have the 11+ in our area so a massive year for her having a newborn whilst trying to support her through entrance exam prep is going to be challenging!!

binky I would only call if you think it could be waters? Or is it more snotty (sorry couldn't think of a nicer way to put that!) if I could just be a bit of plug or discharge. My sense of smell has been crazy all the way through this morning I took dd to her jujitsu class and was loving the sweaty gym smell now that's just wrong! On every level!

Good luck alfie can't believe how many of us are getting very close to meeting our babies

I had one really big contraction today out of nowhere I had forgotten what they were like, bloody hell they hurt Grin

madamweasel · 13/09/2014 18:40

Weirdly I've been smelling smoke every day for the past couple of weeks but my DH assures me it's all phantom smell. I still can't stop myself from saying out loud 'can you smell smoke?'

The best maternity bras I've had are these Bravado ones,
www.johnlewis.com/bravado-silk-seamless-nursing-bra/p40298?colour=Ivory
they're a bit more expensive than the basic ones but fit a bit like sports bras in that they're not cup sizes but S, M, L so stretch to fit changing boobs. I've been wearing mine this whole pregnancy and on and off since I had DS 2yrs ago. They're still in excellent condition, supportive and comfortable, in fact, I'm just wondering if I should buy a purple one!

binkybunny · 13/09/2014 18:45

pregnant it's more 'snotty' so I was thinking either just discharge or a bit of plug. I'm not overly worried but DH seems a bit nervous about the cramps!

ohthegoats · 13/09/2014 19:42

I didn't tell my boyfriend about the cramping/BHs - not until 4 days later anyway. He's already having some sleeping issues (I think stress, he claims noisy traffic), don't think he needs anymore additions that are probably unnecessary!

STIGZ · 13/09/2014 20:57

Just back from hospital, still getting braxton hicks every 5 minutes... My cervix slightly opened but not dilated, sonogropher quite happy that baby's feet not engaged into pelvis, there was talk of staying in for steroid injections for her lungs ... Me & dp traumatised but whatever the scan showed they where quite happy to me let me go under instructions to get to hospital asap if waters break etc because of risk of cord prolapse with a breech.
Hope she hangs on another 3 weeks !!

mrsb87 · 13/09/2014 21:04

Oh good luck to the ladies who are being induced. I hope it all goes well for you!

Well I've had a lovely day with my mummy, she lives about 100 mikes away so I don't see her as often as I would like. We went shopping and she bought me a dressing gown for the hospital bag and a monitor for the baby. I got myself some rather large (but bloody comfy!) Pants and a couple of sleep bras. We went for dinner at Frankie and Bennie's, discovered their seating plan is not heavily pregnant lady friendly! Haha! Quite funny, It's a good job I can chuckle about these things! Am not currently sat in big pants and sleep bra watching X factor, bliss!

mrsb87 · 13/09/2014 21:16

**now currently. Stupid phone!

STIGZ · 13/09/2014 22:00

Fuck now just came home and wiped myself and seen bloody mucus, hopefully just from cervix examination ??

Really feel for all you girls getting induced early ... I am worried sick thinking about early labour .,, my dd was only 5"11 at 38 weeks so take it this wee one will be tiny at 34 weeks? Arrrghha ... So stressed... Never doing this again!!

YellowWellies · 13/09/2014 22:01

Evening ladies. Good luck to the ladies in hospital. Try to think happy loved up thoughts and stop beating yourself up (beats Slide around the chops with a fish), you are awesome. I only got to 35+6, there's no shame in going early. Labour is just a bit wah when you suddenly find yourself facing the practical rather than the theory. Go with your body and trust the process xxxxx

We're just in from a lovely family day out in Stirling. I think Stirling Castle in Jonas' new favourite place EVER. He was looking for dragons and thought the cannons on the ramparts were tractors Grin but bugger me that hill up to the castle is a job at 34 weeks preggers. If baby isn't cephalic now - god knows what will make them turn. Am sure they are. I was getting proper aches in the cervix from their wee head bouncing against it as I staggered back down the hill.

This baby has always had permission from me to come anytime after 34 weeks. And that's today. He or she is estimated at 5lb. Bring it on! I'm done with pregnancy I just want the newborn stage now, I can't wait to see J and his sibling together and have one big cuddle. I bet having set down such a gauntlet the wee feck hangs on until the last moment meaning I'll be induced on the 11th October. Grin Or they'll come on the blimmin referendum day and force me and DH to miss the nailbiting results coverage. I think I actually would put it on the telly in the delivery room!!!

ohthegoats · 13/09/2014 22:49

All this talk of early labour is making me twitchy especially on the first night DH is pissed in ages.

Yerp, my boyfriend has been drinking beer all day, is now half way down a bottle of wine, and has just skinned up. Brilliant. I have just told him that this is it until the kid is here. I don't care that he's pissed, or stoned, or unable to drive me to hospital (I'll get my doula to do it), but he's not coming in to the delivery suite if he smells of any of the above things. FFS. Got told that this is the last time he'll be able to do it for aaaaaages - since I plan on getting back on the wine and G&Ts pretty bloody soon, I have no idea what he's on about.

Although he hasn't understood all along that drinking beer = no sex for 24 hours because you smell of beer, and beer makes me feel sick. He keeps drinking beer, then trying it on and wondering why he gets pushed off. Duuuuh.

fedupofrainydays · 13/09/2014 23:37

weasel I love those bras too. Great nursing ones. Bravado are my favourite.

So has anyone else lost weight in third tri or just me? (Except for Those with GD as the no sugar thing must make you lose weight). Just feel worried bump is getting smaller and worried about fluid loss.

Gosh it's lots of people on cusp of labour / new baby now! Exciting times!

fedupofrainydays · 13/09/2014 23:37

goats I'm impressed you are still having sex full stop!!!

ohthegoats · 13/09/2014 23:56

I've lost weight/stayed the same in general. I finally put on a tiny bit around week 34 ish, but got on the scales at the gym the other day and it's gone back down to around my booking in weight. I think in general that things start to even out after 35 weeks, your hormones start reducing (according to a midwife I was talking to), so you get parts of your normal self back - things like appetite etc. So it might change enough to lose weight without you noticing. Also, you've been stressed - don't underestimate how that might affect appetite/metabolism.

I also feel that my bump has changed shape - dropped a tiny bit, but sort of feels smaller/flatter too. When I breathe in now I've got a clear 'uterus outline' that I haven't had before. I'm walking with some difficulty now though, so I guess things are all sitting on the pelvis/my bladder, so it's not too weird that it's changed.

We've not been massively different to normal regards sex to be honest - probably gone from 4/5 times a week to 3 times a week on average. He's had more blow jobs than he might have done normally, particularly when I'm feeling a bit tender, but other than being a bit bored by the position options, it's been alright.
