Jelly surely there's a 28 day cooling off period where you can change your mind. Also use the pregnancy card with the company and perhaps cry a little?!

Oh Jelly that is so shit as you were so looking forward to it. I'm sure that you should phone the consumer council or some such entity and get some advice. There should be some form of refund policy around unsatisfactory goods, esp. if you hadn't tried them.

I should get out of hospital today, all readings look OK & the fantastic news is that the antibody screen has come back & looks like I've only developed GD in the last 6 weeks! Phew!! :) :) :)

gunwalloe · 13/09/2014 11:26

ohno jelly im sure you are covered by European law for a refund

CJ that's fab! I couldn't imagine having to live with Diabetes full time im already planning my chocolate fest for the days after the babys born.

mum2kiss · 13/09/2014 11:30

jelly that sucks! Same thing happened to my cousin with a Groupon mattress. Don't think she tried to return it though, just suffered on.

Excited I can be sympathetic about your poo situation. These piles are killing me! Waiting on a doc to call me back from 111 now to tell me what I can get for relief because anusol is not cutting it! My ass is permanently on fire to the point that I can't sit down and when I went to the loo the water turned red! I don't think I've ever felt so sorry for myself!

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 13/09/2014 11:32

It says in the refund policy that they don't accept returns on mattresses that have been opened. I did think about trying to appeal to their good nature but doubt it would work!

So glad they are letting you out CJ Smile

cabster · 13/09/2014 11:38

Great news CJ! And Flowers for mum, hope you get some relief soon.

jellybeans eBay? Gumtree? One man's lumpy is another man's perfect...

DH went to a conference yesterday and came home with a goody bag containing 2 posh skincare samples, some iPod earphones and a high-protein cookie for bodybuilder types. Into the hospital bag they go! Grin

mrsb87 · 13/09/2014 12:02

jelly because you bought online you are within your rights to change your mind. You will probably have to pay for it to be returned but you shouldn't have any problems getting the value of the mattress back.
failing that gumtree and pre loved are great. Also your local sales site in Facebook would be a good place to flog it. I've sold quite a bit that way.

Captainmcgraw · 13/09/2014 12:38

jelly empathetic thoughts coming your way. We also bought a mattress on group on about a year ago and it is really rubbish. At least I can blame DH though!

Never buy evil group on mattresses people!

Just had my eyebrows waxed/tinted and had hair done last week - want to feel like I look vaguely respectable for the post birth inevitable photos (although I'm tempted just to refuse this time)

Goats I do believe it's true that the end of pregnancy is perhaps designed to be so horrific so that you are actually prepared to go through childbirth to end the misery!

CellyD · 13/09/2014 12:40

Jelly here's a link to the rules on internet purchases and getting your money back. Otherwise as the others have said gumtree, eBay May be good options.

Shirehobbit · 13/09/2014 13:11

Zantac is amazing Grin
I would say I feel like a new woman, but it's done nothing for my back/hip pain and constant BH contractions, but I can't believe how much the nausea and osephegus pain/bile was getting me down. I feel vaguely human again!

ExcitedCJ · 13/09/2014 13:20

Rats!! Might be in a while longer of bub doesn't behave himself on next round of monitoring.
No news on Slide yet?

gunwalloe · 13/09/2014 13:58

ive been lurking waiting for any updates on slide cj none yet

fingers crossed for you that baby behaves and you get to escape!

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 13/09/2014 14:38

Hope you are all ok. (I've not had a chance to catch up yet).

I've been admitted this morning. I had some pains this morning and was asked to come in. The pains stopped by the time I was checked out (typical) but my cervix I soft and I tested positive for labour in the swab they took. Me and dh were slightly shocked to say the least!

I've had one lot of steroids and am having another lot at midnight so I'm definitely in over night and it's now just a waiting game. I'm 36+2 btw.

madamweasel · 13/09/2014 14:46

Good luck alfiebear, hope it all goes well Flowers

CellyD · 13/09/2014 14:55

Best of luck Alfiebear, keep us posted.

ExcitedCJ · 13/09/2014 15:09

Oh Alfie not another one of us in hospital! Hope all is OK, the baby will be in great shape at + 36 weeks.

STIGZ · 13/09/2014 15:09

Good luck alfie

Think im going to phone mw soon, had period type pains again this morning but stopped, but had braxton hicks all day, but been pottering around the house doing small jobs, so just going to sit down for a while and relax ... Doesnt help i just watched full series of in the club yesterday ... Maybe just being paranoid Confused that programme was a bit full on !!

FlipFantasia · 13/09/2014 15:12

Best of luck Alfiebear!

CJ, hope bubs steps up to the plate and plays ball (as we say over here in America land!) and you get home soon. Good news that it's GD and not underlying type 1. You must be relieved!

Slide, hoping all is going well!

Hope everyone else is well. I'm off to yoga soon and just sorting out my hospital bag bits and things like my washable nappies (all clean but in a heap in a corner of my closet...in fact I'm typing this message to procrastinate sorting them!). An Irish friend has made me v happy by passing on a load of muslins that a friend had sent her from ireland when she had her kids.

And in other news, I learned yesterday that OBs over here (who most women see) do not palpate tummies to check position etc. The two friends I had over yesterday (one of whom is due on wed with her second) have never had their tummy palpated during pregnancy and had no idea what I was on about. I was shocked! I even palpate myself as I love figuring out where baby is (all that bellymapping stuff)!

FlipFantasia · 13/09/2014 15:14

Good luck to you too stigz. Is your baby breech? Definitely important to get checked out early if so. Thinking of you.

Kirstipops · 13/09/2014 15:59

Ooh good luck Alfie :) Looking forward to hearing how Slide is getting on too.
Stigz did you ring the mw? Hope you are relaxing and feeling OK, I thought the last episode of In the Club was a bit "eek" as well (the preggo mw's experience I mean).

fedupofrainydays · 13/09/2014 16:05

Good luck alfie!

I am absolutely knackered. Been cleaning and scrubbing the house. I have blisters on my hands!

I weighed myself today - I'm 4 lbs lighter than I was about a month ago. Normal? Bit worried I am losing fluid or something. I certainly haven't been on a diet.

Me23 · 13/09/2014 16:33

Best of luck alfiebear

Hope you get out soon excited glad it is "only" gd. At least you can make some brownies for after the birth now!

flip the obs must be quite de skilled in palpatiion over there, I guess they rely on technology i.e scans a lot more than our obs do.

I finally have a hospital bag! It's empty but I have one!
It's my mission to start packing it today/tomorrow I need to buy some cheap pjs that I don't mind getting bloody. I also got baby bath support and lascal buggy board got miter care to price match with amazon so saved almost £20 too.

I have had some unexpected news maybe some parent/teachers on thread can give advice-when we moved 2 years ago I put my daughters name down for the best school in the borough (very oversubscribed usually only admits people 0.2 metres away! And people send their children there rather than go private- outstanding ofsted report very good rep etc..) well today we have a letter advising us dd finally has a place (she's now in year 5)

she has been at our current school for 2 years now- is doing averagely even though her undersubscribed school only has 18 kids in her class (lots of bad behaviour, dd often reports that they miss out a lot due to other kids disruptive behaviour) last year a new head was appointed who turned around her last school from poor to outstanding.

I also have a Ds who is due to start nursery at dd current school soon, but if dd went to this new school he would almost certainly get a place next year at reception as they prioritise siblings over distance.

Any advice is very welcome! We are going to arrange to visit the school next week so dd can get more of a feel for it. To give you an idea of the social aspect if the school her current school has tried to have a PTA to no interest the parents do not mix I.e since we joined I have never spoken to any other parent at the school let alone Dd's class! No one throws bday parties/play dates there's no sense of community.

The other school has an active PTA and I hear the kids mix well even though some are millionaires and others from local housing estate.

Sorry that is long and off topic I may start a seperate thread but I know there's experienced teachers and parents on here so wanted to ask here first.

ExcitedCJ · 13/09/2014 16:52

No brainer Me swap school! It takes longer than a year or two to turn a school around & if your DD's learning is being hampered by bad behaviour & there is little extra curricular interaction with school friends she is also missing out there too. They adapt quickly to new situations, I changed primary school 3 times & it helped me to be more sociable. Very exciting situation to be in.
I have been having baby monitored for over an hour now, they are worried about base line heart rate - it seems high at 160 - 170 BPM & has periods of sleepiness so Midwife needs to see Doc to check if I'm allowed out!

MundayCakes85 · 13/09/2014 16:58

Good luck Alfie keep us updated!
A little highlight of my day- DH tried to make me feel better about myself today by instigating a bit of DTD- however half way through I burst into very noisy tears and wailing Sad as feeling pretty rubbish about myself atm. Still a bit teary!
Going to try again tomorrow.

STIGZ · 13/09/2014 17:00

I just called them, she advised just to keep an eye on them and if they get more frequent she will bring me in. Got my wee contraction timer up and running!! I cant cope with this worry off & on for another 5 weeks, i hope to god they stop ... Im only 34 +2 and still breech Sad
