Ah good, sounds like you have plenty of things available. Sling might make all the difference on fussy days, E used to fall right asleep in it at that age, M required a brisk walk. But gives you two hands free for an hour or so. Have a try with it when GP is there to help, its easier to get the knack of it when you have someone holding the baby. I practised with cuddly toys first! Peppa pig was just the right size.

Fussy day here too. She's been fussing since jabs yesterday :( the last two were fine. Probably its not related but hoping for an easier day tomorrow as I have stuff I want to do while M is in nursery. I've given up on baby massage group, every time I go there she either wants to feed or sleep instead. I made friends through baby massage last time round but the current lot don't seem like my sort.

Another (very) fussy day here too. You'd have thought she was being murdered when I put her down so I could go for a wee. My nips are sore for the first time in weeks! But she's in bed now and I can watch The Walking Dead and scare the shit out of myself :)

The pooing thing is totally normal, E didn't poo for 6 days when she was about 2 weeks old! Their little guts just get more efficient, and don't worry she'll make up for it when you're least expecting it! I think 9 dirty nappies in a 12 hour period was our record Wink

katandkits · 16/10/2014 08:23

Poo was the same here. They say they should poo daily in first six weeks but both mine had stopped by 2 weeks. It can be a sign of not getting enough milk but only if weight gain is slow. p is gaining plenty by the sounds of it! Breast milk has very little waste product.

katandkits · 16/10/2014 08:24

m pooed once a week from 2 weeks to six months. Big saving on nappies!

ALittleFaith · 16/10/2014 08:51

Faithlet pooed once a week from day 5. We did do tummy massage post bath but that was just her norm.

If she's out of sorts with no really obvious cause, it's probably a virus. I'd just keep offering the boob and try to sleep when you can.

Aah that must be better! There are some baby massage techniques designed to help "move things along" if your local centre does baby massage it is a nice thing to go to. Glad she is happier now, hope she enjoys the adoration session later.

Happier baby here too. She slept in her own crib till 5am. Went from 8.45 to 2.30 between feeds. Did not have to use robo-parent (mamaroo) all night. Bloody amazing!

Fankletastic · 16/10/2014 17:44

Interesting newborn behaviour, observations and crESHly advice. Hmmm, what am I letting myself in for?

Bugs sounds like you are coping marvelously with this massive life-changing challenge. I hope I do as well with Fanklet. All the CRESH wisdom is so so helpful (guess what I spent an hour doing last night...yep, trawling back through the previous fred to the comments about carseats) Blush. Frankel - did you say you have a 20% off code for Kiddicare or somewhere similar? Would be v grateful if you wouldn't mind sharing that Thanks

I have 7 weeks and 1 day left of work and my head/heart isn't really in it anymore. If I'm not bump stroking or being kicked frantically, I'm online researching stuff I need to get, worrying slightly about labour and daydreaming about being a mummy. That's normal right?? . My boss has now done all the interviews for my mat cover so he will decide soon who will be my replacement. Then I will have to do a professional handover and somehow organise myself to give off the illusion that I have done some actual work over the last 2 months.

I'm sure I've developed a double chin in the past week. I've gained 1.5 stone so I guess some of it has to go on the face. I was thinking myself lucky to have avoided looking fatter in the face but here it bloody well comes! Angry

Kat wtf is a mamaroo?

katandkits · 16/10/2014 18:24

A mamaroo is the grand daddy of baby swinging chairs. It makes them think they have gone for a ride in the car. Suits birth to six months. Most babies are satisfied with a bog standard vibrating bouncer but not mine!

FrankelandFilly · 16/10/2014 18:58

Fankle I will PM you the Kiddicare code in a bit.

TheOriginalWinkly · 16/10/2014 19:42

fankle that's totally normal. I had mentally checked out pretty early on. I thought I didn't get a fat face, but looking at some photos today, I really really did :(

Glad buglet is back to herself again bugs. MiniWink is also her sunny self today, with smiles for all the waitresses in a cafe. She is shattered now, baby sensory just wipes her out.

Today is exactly a year since I got my sticky bfp. I don't know if that's why I'm feeling so emotional. Pregnancy dragged (and by fuck I hated it) but the last three and a bit months have just flown by and it all seems to be going far too quickly.

Yeah its hormones. Massive estrogen drop post pregnancy. Gets better but bf stops it being entirely normal until your fertility cycles return. Don't remember it being sore though. Thrush?

Winks, you are right, it goes much too fast. Each new stage is exciting but with a little sadness for me that newborn days are over forever.

katandkits · 16/10/2014 22:34

You can try giving infacol before a feed. It supposedly helps get their wind up. Keeping her upright after a feed for a while helps too, another area in which slings help. Do you think wind is the problem? Colic doesn't really mean anything, it just means "we don't have a clue why the fuck your baybee is still crying" M was terrible for it, with him it was the fact that he got overtired as he wouldn't go to sleep easily.
I have a_book somewhere about fourth trimester, colic, fussy babies that has tips, can send it if you like. You can get the condensed version by googling harvey Karp 5 Ss

It could be "colic", but as kat says! that's a bit of a catch-all term that people like to chuck around. If it is wind Infacol might help, as will bicycling her legs, gentle tummy massage, etc.

Things you eat can have an effect on the taste of your breast milk, but they won't give your baby wind. Breast milk is breast milk, it doesn't contain the fibres/proteins (whatever it is) that gives you wind when you digest a piece of food.

MissHobart · 17/10/2014 09:58

Ahh hags! Let the next round of menkul begin, next scan on Thursday at 12+1 weeks with the EPU (official "normal" service resumes at dating scan the week after) , started feeling positive yesterday after an awful week and today I'm yet again convinced it's all gone wrong, symptoms gone, even the constipation! Hmm Why can I never stay happy and positive?!! Confused

katandkits · 17/10/2014 11:12

Sending the Cod of Calm. Remember the placenta is formed now, its common for early symptoms to reduce at 10 weeks. If you get to 12 weeks and have no bleeding, 98-99% says you are getting a baybee. Missed miscarriage that is only discovered at 12 weeks can happen but it is very rare if you have no miscarriage symptoms.
