Big sympathies to all those with spotting worries/terrible sickness.

I had my booking in appointment today and it was lovely - really nice, reassuring midwife who answered all my neurotic questions and gave me loads of info. I had to say which hospital I wanted to give birth in, and whether I wanted initial Down's /HIV test when they take blood, which I wasn't really prepared for so it might be worth thinking about that if you haven't had yours yet. I am due to be a maid of honour abroad 4 weeks after EDD which I had pretty much ruled out, but midwife was very positive about my chances of being able to go, saying I would be knackered but it would be a great time for a holiday. Very upbeat about that! Anyone ever taken a tiny infant abroad?

I'm 7w 3 and feel pretty sick all day and waking up in night, but happily yet to actually vom. Like others, constantly eating whatever I can stomach the thought of is helping. Good idea about the dates for comparing

Squatting I feel a bit heavy too, sort of aware of my uterus which sounds odd but is the best I can describe it.

Haha squattingneville stinky feet made me chuckle. DH has just turned the Xbox off and put a really old Star Trek film on so think bed is also calling me. My poor back is killing me my chair at work is horrendous god knows how I'm going to manage when I'm huge.

cinnamongreyhound · 10/09/2014 20:58

Sorry you're feeling rubbish mamabear0315, I do think you forget it all. I was sick several times a day every for 8 weeks and lost 3 1/2st and I'm now doing it a third time!!

Hi Healthymama5, sorry you are so poorly and glad that you are on the mend with treatment.

I'm having all screenings Woodchiponthewall, I think it's important to be informed personally but I was expecting all the screenings as I'm on baby no 3.

Hi everyone Smile

Sorry not posted in a while, just feeling really sick and negative so didn't want to bring you all down.

This evening I've actually managed to do some cleaning and I'm still awake past 9. Hooray Grin.

Hope everything goes ok for you. Hearing the heartbeat must have been reassuring. Good luck for the scan tomorrow.

prevlurker123 · 10/09/2014 21:05

Woodchip, I am also due to be a maid of honour abroad about four weeks after edd! Ive also ruled it out but interesting to hear mw said that....did she think it was ok to take baby with you? Could you get a passport in time?! Im hoping to bf and the wedding would involve maybe 2 flights and a train....dont know if I could handle that!

Stuntman · 10/09/2014 21:16

HealthyMama I have three boys (one MC). Are you thinking lack of MS = girl this time? I don't mind either way but I think my dad would be delighted with a granddaughter.

LadyNovember · 10/09/2014 21:21

Hi everyone. Sorry for my lack of posts since I've been on holiday but I have been reading everything each night. So sorry for those of you feeling very ill, hoping it eases up soon. And thinking of you Misty. Fingers crossed for good news tomorrow.

I'm having a lovely time in a very sunny cornwall! It's been so relaxing spending lots of quality time with DP. Just wish I didn't feel so sick :( I totally thought id got away with no ms but it's just gotten progressively worse since about 7-8ws. I'm lucky that I've not actually been sick, but sometimes wish I could just to feel better?! It's also not all day long so I'm grateful for that. Basically only bad in the morning, at night, in the car, and when hungry. Grin bought sea bands - load of crap ha.

Prevlurker123 - I was a bit reluctant to even bring it up, thinking she'd peg me as a naive and irresponsible before the baby is even born! But there were two midwives (one student) and both were totally casual and positive about it, saying it would be a great time. I was more cautious than them, saying it would depend on how everything goes in terms of c-sections/how you are feeling/due date. They even said if I went to 42 weeks the baby would be 2 weeks and the airline would still take them so it'd be fine! I mentioned baby ears popping on plane as a worry, they said not a problem if you breastfeed on take off /landing. I have read to fill in all passport forms before baby is here, and take photo and send ASAP after birth. If it was tight, there is a priority service which would do it quickly. Would your partner be with you for support on a complicated journey? At least it gives us (and disappointed brides) some hope to not rule it out completely!

Hi. I posted ages ago but have just been keeping up reading along. I'm 32, DH is 37. 8+1 days. This is or first, EDD is 21st April.

Been feeling ok so far, bit of nausea, always thirsty but mainly just massively tired. Feel like I've been sleep walking the past two days. Not easy when trying to teach a class of 3-5 year olds!

I'm just wondering if everyone has given up tea and coffee. The NHS website says about 2 cups is ok but everyone I speak to says they gave up caffeine straight away. And make me feel really guilty. I'm doing my best but never thought I would miss it so much especially with the tiredness. My mam says I'm daft and shouldn't feel bad about drinking it. What do you think?

prevlurker123 · 10/09/2014 22:51

Thanks woodchip! Yeah lets see how it goes! I have my mw appt next week so I will ask. Dont want to make too many plans either way atm as I am a bit cautious til I have first scan but good to know there are some options!

prevlurker123 · 10/09/2014 22:52

Sazzle...I did give up coffee as I was a big drinker and couldnt trust myself to limit it to a few a day. So I have switched fully to decaf when I want one. But to be honest have switched mainly to water and juice! Sleeping much better for it (or maybe thats just pregnancy!) And insides definately benefitting too ;)

catsofa · 10/09/2014 23:19

I'm a massive tea drinker and I've cut down to just one first thing in the morning, without which I can't actually form coherent sentences, and one some time later like with the kind of snack that needs a cup of tea with it.

I'm on redbush tea the rest of the time, which is nice but takes ages to brew dark enough for me. Had a bottle of coke too the other day because I totally forgot it has caffeine in it. Advice is not that you have to completely give up all caffeine anyway, a little bit is fine.

Rustyzilla · 11/09/2014 00:27

sazzle I still had one coffee plus 2 teas a day until around 7 weeks then seemed to just go off it! Still drinking 2-3 teas a day though and every now and again I have a diet coke. That puts me pretty much at the NHS recommended guidelines. I think it's wise to be cautious but you can drive yourself nuts worrying about everything!

FizzyBubbly · 11/09/2014 06:55

Same as you Rustyzilla, was on two cups of tea a day until 6.5wks but now just the thought of a cuppa makes my stomach turn. Shame because I really need that boost as am so exhausted looking after DD. As soon as the nausea eases I'll be back on two regular teas

Lauren82000 · 11/09/2014 06:58

Well dtd last night which I have to say was very much needed but low and behold spotting again. Hmm We can't not do it at all for the next however many months left which is what's gonna happen if I tell DH that last night caused me to spot again. Confused So annoying!

AnniaFausta · 11/09/2014 07:38

Sazzle - give up caffeine completely?? Heavens, I'd never get going in the morning! I'm a tea drinker rather than a coffee drinker, though, and I tend to limit myself to three cups a day under normal circumstances because otherwise I have trouble sleeping. All I've had to do is change that to two cups (one in the morning, one in the afternoon), substitute in a bit more herbal tea, and watch how much chocolate I'm eating. As DH is diabetic, we tend to eat individual Nice Chocolates rather than bars anyway, so that's well under the 50g bar unit measurement that my paperwork gives me to measure caffeiene intake by. DH did say that it was a good thing it's this way round, as he wouldn't be able to cut his coffee intake that easily...

littleluna89 · 11/09/2014 07:56

Lol, I also wouldn't be able to give up the precious caffeine, I have to have a coffee first thing to be human, then I'll have a tea or coke (or two) during the day. I tried to give it up last time and was a complete stark raving bitch until someone stood over me with a can of red bull and told me I was allowed 100mg and should bloody we'll utilise it!

Lauren82000 · 11/09/2014 08:56

All this talk of caffeine makes me realise I've pretty much switched to decaf without even noticing. I'm normally a coffeeholic but I don't even have my one cup of real coffee in morning I switched to decaf cappuccino sachets at work which are awful for some reason if you want decaf they take the sweetners out too. So have to put extra sugar in it. I've even stopped eating my half big bar of galaxy a night. Think I'm barely eating at all at the moment just don't feel like it and when I am hungry I just want something now so not much fruit n veg coming my way either. Oops. I'm just so tired can't wait till I reach the slightly not so tired stage in the middle before we hit the knackered stage again at the end. Smile

BrixtonBunny · 11/09/2014 10:07

Hello ladies, sorry for being very absent - still feeling sick and exhausted beyond words. I've been sleeping so badly the last few nights too - waking up around 3am then tossing and turning for hours, which is leaving me even more shattered and sickly. Sorry, I'm not meaning to write a misery post! Is anyone else struggling to sleep well despite exhaustion?

Have my booking in appt tomorrow, eek! And then my scan is in two and a half weeks.

HippoPottyMouth · 11/09/2014 10:13

I have not purposefully given up coffee, but I really haven't wanted one for a while, prefer orange juice mostly, but this morning I had a mocha from Costa on way back from school drop off and lo and behold I have got some jobs done this morning that I've been meaning to do for ages Grin

Everything crossed for misty this morning, hope it is still light or even better stopped completely now.

Squidge14 · 11/09/2014 10:26

Hi all,

Hope everyone is doing ok today, I've developed lower back ache which is new, so obviously worried this is a bad sign Confused roll on birth...!!

BananaToast · 11/09/2014 11:05
