Congrats winterlover! I'm delighted for you!

Total dramarama here - just after my disconcerting news that I am two weeks bigger than I should be, my Dad was rushed to A&E in an ambulance with pain. So I literally spent all day in a corridor with him. He's still there, poor thing - no beds. Am going to have a quick shower and go back again now.

Hopefully its nothing sinister but he'll have to have a lot of scans as something is obstructed and you always wonder with obstructions and elderly people. But am hoping it's resolvable.

But he'll be in for at least a week and as I live hext to the hospital it'll be my responsibility. All against a backdrop of maybe going early now! Hope baby doesn't do anything at all till he's home!

Sizing scan next Wed, fingers crossed its no big deal. Between this and Dad and the FUCKING FORRINERS coming over (oh, did I mention there's now FOUR of them coming over for their jolly jaunt??? We are LIVID) we are all a bit flustered.

By the way, the midwife said the reason I'd grown so much since my 32 wk appt was because I went on early mat leave! She said as soon as you finish work and stress reduces the baby grows like mad! I wonder if thats true?

WorkFreeWannabe · 09/10/2014 09:46

Morning everyone,

Crap nights sleep here, Jellybean decided to attend an all night underground rave without my consent. Searing pains in my bum and tightness above my bikini line. Woke up this morning to discover my bump has shrunk considerably and he's no longer back to back. Dr Google says he's probably dropped which has now convinced me he's going to come early. I've got a consultant appointment tomorrow where I'll be 35+1 so fingers crossed he puts my mind at rest.

Also adding my Congrats Winter. Brilliant news!

Sorry to hear about your Dad Annarose Flowers. Hopefully it's nothing too serious and he recovers quickly.

During my first class on Tuesday Amy the midwives stressed that consent would be asked for everything, unless it has been implied. As in MW: 'I just need to check your BP' and you automatically held your arm out. If you didn't they would change the question to 'can I take your BP?' I really hope this is the case everywhere.

I hope you're okay Maths Flowers

No such niceties oop north! She was talking about going for induction as if it's a foregone conclusion. The only thing she mentioned options on was the injection for helping deliver the placenta. She also said they pull on the cord to help deliver it the placenta quickly. I really don't want that!!!! DH has told me to prep him with a list of non-negotiables which I think is a good idea as I tend to lose my words quite easily!

WinterLover · 09/10/2014 10:42

amy DP has a list too. One being press them to let me be mobile for at least some of the time. Before 37 weeks they like you on the bed on constant monitor.

More plug gone, and lots of period pains so im on my ball Grin Good job DS is at nursery, he likes to play push mummy off the ball Hmm

WinterLover · 09/10/2014 10:43

anna hope everything with your dad goes ok x

weeonion · 09/10/2014 11:56

Oooh winter! That's fab news and keeping fingers crossed for you!

Annarose - hope all is well with yr dad....

Anyone here on 1st facebookgroup? Wonder if any babies amongst original group. I thought random was having elective section around this time?

Seems such a shame that so many have left this thread and spend time on facebook instead. It happened in my last antenatal MN thread but not to this extent :-(
Wonder if they will come back when babies start arriving???

ToniWol · 09/10/2014 12:06

Good news Winter.

Hope your Dad's okay Anna.

Amy - obviously a different area of oop north to me (east yorks) as the antenatal classes on interventions were all about what you'd be offered.

36 wks appointment today. Blueberry growing to size and head down, although not engaged as yet. Just having a sit down then upstairs to prep the nursery woodwork for glossing.

blamber · 09/10/2014 12:33

Anna hope your dad is ok.

It's true for me that the baby has grown loads since being on mat leave. He went from being 50th percentile to 80th in a months time!

Winter I'm so glad baby is staying in for now.

I'm on the Facebook group. One member had her baby a couple of weeks ago but I don't know her mn name. Baby is doing fine. One member is having a c section today. Again I don't know her name! I was hoping they would come on here to announce the births so hopefully they will!

It's all getting so close now. I'm panicking! The nursery still needs doing completely! Luckily I have most of the stuff I need now.

blamber · 09/10/2014 12:35

Toni what gloss are you using? Normal gloss emits loads of fumes, when you paint but also for quite a while afterwards. Best to get Eco gloss. We use it and it works really well plus no smell!

weeonion · 09/10/2014 13:01

Wow blamber - thanks for that! That was a v early November baby. Hope they are ok. X

Thehedgehogsong · 09/10/2014 13:21

Winter I'm glad someone else is struggling to get on their own birth ball! My daughter thinks it's the most fun ever, but it is very big so it keeps flipping her off or rolling over her!

moggle · 09/10/2014 13:33

I'm not sure we have to worry about fumes from paint at this point, it's more of a possible issue in the first trimester. Obviously anything that makes you feel funny is a no no though as you don't want to go keeling over!! But from the point of view of worrying about an effect on the baby, I don't think much can hurt the baby at this late point short of abdominal trauma. (I'll be glossing the skirting board and radiators in the nursery this weekend!) I think all paints have to adhere to quite strict standards these days.

Agree it's a shame that we don't hear from so many of the previous frequent posters like random and alita anymore.

WinterLover · 09/10/2014 14:02

I've found sitting on birth ball and being on your phone is dangerous. I've lost count of how many times I've nearly fallen off!Blush

blamber · 09/10/2014 14:12

Moggle I think my boyfriend and I are just being overly cautious! Gloss emits chemicals for years after putting it on even though the levels are low. Still we wanted to prevent this for not just the nursery but the whole house. I hate the smell too, I even wore a filtered mask to paint the walls with water based paint because the smell makes me feel sick.

blamber · 09/10/2014 14:14

Weeonion the first baby born was in hospital for a couple of weeks but they're home now and doing well.

hotfuzzra · 09/10/2014 14:52

Well done to winter!
Anna hope your dad is better soon.

Hope everyone is ok. I am also struggling to sleep, then get mega tired during day. I am supposed to be packing (provisional move date in two weeks, end of week 35) but can't be arsed.
Bump starting to feel very tight and uncomfortable now.

In other news it looks as though my plan to start perineal massage is scuppered, tesco delivery had a blip and my bottle of almond oil is now nicely massaging my tins of soup, chopped tomatoes and mixed nuts! and a big bag of toffee popcorn

ToniWol · 09/10/2014 14:55

Blamber - it's a satinwood rather than a gloss tbh (glossing just sounds better than satinwooding does) and it's low VOC so will just keep the window open.

It's stalled now anyway as have run out of masking tape so will have to do the actual painting tomorrow.

amy83firsttimer · 09/10/2014 15:07

blamber could you mention on fb that we'd like a MN update?!

weeonion · 09/10/2014 16:19

Just got an email update from women in my first lazydaisy class. 2/6 have had babies. 2 inductions which both ended in sections but mums and babies doing well!!!

These babies are starting to pop out everywhere!!!
I wonder who the 2 women are from, this thread who have given birth on the face book group. A call out for a quick hello and update would be good blamber. I wonder how posy is getting on!

amy83firsttimer · 09/10/2014 17:02

Posy is karmaviolet - posted not too long ago.

WinterLover · 09/10/2014 18:15

I wish these pains would either get stronger or bugger off!

Health Visitor appointment went well, they do a safe sleeping check now once baby is born where they check where baby is sleeping etc. Got the red book all ready in my hospital bag now ready for d-day Grin

haventgotaclue1 · 10/10/2014 05:27

Well done winter Grin. Excuse my ignorance, but what is the red book all about, when and from whom do you get it?

WinterLover · 10/10/2014 05:30

Its the baby book. Every baby gets one, it logs immunisations, development checks, weight etc it sees them right up to 5 years old. we used to get it on the first HV appointment when baby was 10 days old but they've changed policy and they give you it prior to birth to take with you.

WinterLover · 10/10/2014 06:57

haventgotaclue Child's Health Boook

Petal26 · 10/10/2014 07:38

Well done winter!

I had physio yesterday, now got the worlds biggest tubey grip to wear if I'm going out and walking, from belly button to upper thigh! Helpful session and got given exercises to do, apparently my muscles are very tight Hmm

Got to go into school for assembly this morning to 'say goodbye properly' get my flowers as I disappeared quickly last week!
