Lol Twiglet Resistance is Futile.....!

I got the orange one cos it reminded me of the star shaped snowsuit Maggie Simpson wears. Its the cutest thing I've bought yet!

.........Although a sleepsuit from Next with "I've got a Nap for that" on it comes close. :p

Difficult day today.
After tossing and turning been awake since 4:45, DD must have known as she came through at 5:30 (which she never does) and then down for breakfast at 6, I really struggle without my sleep, one of those pregnant days when you wish you didn't have a toddler for a few hours so you could go back to bed....
Builders outside making our conservatory, noisy concrete machine.
Hopefully I can talk her into a nap this afternoon, she is always reluctant.
Got a physio appointment for Thursday, bump very low and heavy, lower back ache and muscles aching all over at the front, hoping for a baby bump carrier of some description Hmm
I'm less moany and more excited this week (honest!) Nearly there!

Oh and also craving tuna, aware that tuna needs to be limited so just had a toasted tomato mackerel sandwich and cheese and onion crisps. My breathe is divine Grin

Last weekend stayed with DH in London for weekend (walking, Albert Hall, walking, some paperwork etc) and it was the first time during pregnancy when I actually felt pregnant. Needed to sit down after every few hours walking around etc. Somehow commuting on weekdays to London is not the same at all as being in the street all day...

Which list are you using as a guide to pack a hospital bag? I had a look on NHS web, in their list the mention 24 (!) maternity pads! I have never given birth, so have no clue, but have bought only 2 packs of them (20 pieces) thinking it would be sufficient. Isnt it a case that if one needs 24 pads in 1-2 days, she should be in intensive care strapped to the system with wires and not in a birth centre or something??

Petal26 · 07/10/2014 13:02

strawberry I had what was like a very heavy period for the first few days, then bled for just over 4 weeks in the end. You might need some more packs but you might not, it's one of these things where everyone is different!
I'm going to put one pack in my bag but have a few in a cupboard if DH needs to grab another one.

WorkFreeWannabe · 07/10/2014 14:58

First NHS antenatal class today and I absolutely loved it AND DH too surprisingly. Just what I needed to put my mind at rest and soothe the concerns I have about the birth and epidural. I had a nice long chat with the midwife at the end about my medical issues que long list of questions as I didn't want to bore the rest of the group with stuff irrelevant to them.

I think the penny has finally dropped for DH that this baby won't wait and he needs to sort himself out. He was stunned when the midwife said babies come between 37 and 42 weeks. He was like, but you're nearly 35 so it could be as little as 2 weeks away. Well duh! Why do you think I've been nagging you for the past month?

Thanks for the reminder annarose. I'm so used to being on the go I haven't given myself a break

Annarose2014 · 07/10/2014 15:04

No problem, it does take a while to wind down.

I chirped to my DH this morning "I'm 36 weeks, that means I'm in the 9th month you know!"

Poor lad went PALE. Grin

moggle · 07/10/2014 15:13

Just been for my 34 week appointment and midwife said she was 99% sure the baby was head down quite deep in my pelvis, but that it had quite a bony bum... So at 36 weeks she may send me for a scan just to be 100% sure it's the right way round! but she said "I can feel its head, neck and shoulders down here so I'm very sure it IS the right way round". Think I trust her!!

God those star wraps are cute!! Unfortunately with the 6 snowsuits in various sizes newborn to 6 months and the two blankets I've made I don't think I can justify it. But the maggie simpson look is uber cute!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 07/10/2014 16:26

Amy I used them with first for a matress for a second hand crib I brought as was bigger than standard size n I was impressed

Thehedgehogsong · 07/10/2014 18:25

Must not buy star wrap must not buy star wrap....!
Hope all ok with you ladies! I'm reading updates but I find it hard to reply to everyone as I forget the names and can't scroll well on iPhone!
Something very painful is happening in my uterus today, baby is trying to dive bomb out I think!

weeonion · 07/10/2014 20:54

Another star wrap fan. I justified my indulgence through an eBay purchase!
Do blew up birthing pool today to time it. Tomorrow is water filling test run.
Dd and I lounged in it tonight and had a pretend "birth" complete with me mooing - pretty much like I instinctively did last time. DD thought it was hilarious, hopefully she'll think the same during the real thing!!!

amy83firsttimer · 07/10/2014 21:49

That sounds like a fun evening WeeOnion - there's been tears here as I've been worrying about a sore tummy - it all came out in a big blubfest. Oops. Going to get checked tomorrow if it still hurts. I think it's probably just stretching, baby seems huge and very strong.

weeonion · 07/10/2014 22:01

Ach amy. Hope it all settles tonight. X

ToniWol · 07/10/2014 23:48

Ditto Amy - hope it settles. And hope you don't flood yourself out weeonion.

Had a slightly worried moment tonight. I felt something warm whilst in the pool at Aquanatal and was worried it might have been my waters. Called the ADU and the MW said to put a thick pad on and lie down for half an hour. Nothing more on the pad after that time and Blueberry's as active as usual so I suspect I just need to do the pelvic floor exercises a bit more Blush

excitedforbaba · 08/10/2014 06:50

I finally gave in and googled star wraps...
Where are you all getting them as iv seen a few different types! And how much are they as the price seems to vary from about £12 on precious little one site, to £25ish

They are all soooooo cute! Think baba would love to be snuggled in one of them & possibly me too if they done them large enough Wink

amy83firsttimer · 08/10/2014 07:08

Tummy feels fine this morning, just think I need to take it easy. I cleared out my wardrobe yesterday and think I did too much bending in the middle. Got first antenatal class tonight so that should be fun. Might need to schedule nap time to avoid tears before bedtime!

utopian99 · 08/10/2014 08:34

Made it 34 weeks! The Small can be born now and have a 99% chance of survival. Wooo. Smile
Have packed my hospital bag under duress from dh who was worrying. Also mats on bed for waters going. Loft space over the kitchen all boarded out for storage so ready to rejig the nursery, Just need an extra chest of drawers in there and a major stint on ds' old stuff this weekend and we'll be essentially prepped... eek.

Annarose2014 · 08/10/2014 10:55

MW clinic this morning.

Good news = baby head down.

Bad news = Bump is measuring 38 weeks! Shock

Being referred for a sizing scan.

Its all getting a bit real now.....

Mathssssteacher123 · 08/10/2014 11:35

Haven't been on here in ages! Been stuck in hospital for the last 2 weeks! But being induced next week so the wait is nearly over! Hope the scan is ok Anna an you're baby isn't too big!

amy83firsttimer · 08/10/2014 11:47

Oh no, why 2 weeks in hospital?!

haventgotaclue1 · 08/10/2014 16:16

Had 2nd antenatal class last night. ..all about more "complicated births"... omg. One word: forceps.

Becoming very real now - eekkk!

haventgotaclue1 · 08/10/2014 16:18

PS maths hope all's ok.....

Thehedgehogsong · 08/10/2014 17:36

Anna hope baby is just a bit tall!
Maths poor you! Is it awful stuck in there?! Not long now at least!

My shower curtain and birth ball for my homebirth arrived today. I have two actual labour/baby things. Horray! Hoping to add a lot more this weekend after a shopping trip.

amy83firsttimer · 08/10/2014 22:04

First antenatal class done. I'd say it was more useful for DH than me (mainly thanks to MN!). The language used was a little presumptuous. Things like the midwife taking the class saying "if this doesn't work we'll move onto the drip ". Let's see what the third session on complications looks like before I kick off publicly raise the issue of consent!

WinterLover · 09/10/2014 07:13

I did it I did it I did it! I have kept this baby in longer than DS Grin despite what MW's and consultants thought Grin

Not going to be too smug, bump really painful, hardly any sleep and cant stop going for #2s and feel sicky today but thats probably lack of sleep Sad Typical on DS's half day at nursery and I have the Health Visitor attempting to come for the second time this morning so no chance of a nap.

Hope everyone else is keeping ok. I've not bothered with any classes this time round. They were rubbish last time with DS and no NCT near buy.
