Winter hope you are ok and pains aren't too bad, sounds like it might not be too much longer :-)

pink hope you're feeling ok, I've had really low blood pressure for weeks, my iron levels are ok so just being told to rest, not possible!

Last day at school tomorrow!! Finally put my foot down and after saying for a couple of weeks that I am not coping I have been told that I can stop tomorrow. I have been waiting for them to appoint my cover but it still hasn't been done. It is hurting me to stand up and sit down now, muscles at the front, lower back ache, really not good for teaching 5/6 year olds at the moment, 34+3 today, thought I was going to make it further...

Excited to stop and take it slowly getting the house sorted :-)

Missus2ndwife · 01/10/2014 21:59

Hi, I'm a bit of a lurker but probably should be on this thread since I'm due end October.

This post is probably more geared to Moggle & Kantha re acupuncture:

I have been seeing an acupuncturist for most of my pregnancy to help with various things and have always told my acupuncturist I'd be looking at help inducing early on (my consultant was originally talking about an early induction for medical reasons).

I am now 36 weeks and my acupuncturist has just informed me that the British Acupuncture Council does not approve of early induction and she is unwilling to use acupuncture before 40 weeks unless she has a medical certificate.

Have you been told this by your acupuncturists?

moggle · 01/10/2014 22:27

Hi missus, we haven't got to that stage yet but my acupuncturist has indicated that she would want some guidance from my MW. I have read something similar to what yours said, when I was googling for info.

Not sure I would be looking for early induction myself before 40wks, as I've had an uneventful pregnancy so far. Good luck with it- is your midwife supportive? I have recently moved and won't meet my new mw til 34 weeks (next tues) so don't yet know if she'll go for it or not!

Missus2ndwife · 01/10/2014 22:40

Thanks Moggle! I will speak to my MW tomorrow when I see her.

Personally I feel disappointed by my acupuncturist who could have told me this weeks ago.

My pregnancy has been ok but I've been monitored very closely because of my blood pressure which is now stable.

Have you moved far that you are changing MW?

moggle · 01/10/2014 23:09

Not that far, I'm still at the same hospital but now under a different midwife team. They are all based at the same hosp. The hospital seems pretty open minded and quite into natural births (have a new midwife led unit I'm hoping to use) so hoping acupuncture may be up their street!!

Annarose2014 · 01/10/2014 23:31

Gosh there's a June 2015 thread!

Hope weeonion is ok....

happypotamus · 02/10/2014 06:31

Last day at work today Grin
I made it, and today is only 8hrs rather than 13hrs.
I will miss my colleagues, as I don't really have any friends outside of work, and some of my patients, but am very relieved to see an end to getting up before 6am and being on my feet for 13hrs. Got a long list of things to sort out now that I will have a bit of free time. Not going to work anymore makes the whole thing seem a bit more real.

Loaf99 · 02/10/2014 07:25

Hello everyone! I'm at 32 weeks now and got about 5 weeks of work left. Can't wait to end but scared at same time!

Thehedgehogsong · 02/10/2014 08:09

So jealous of everyone finishing work! Another 3 weeks for me!
My mat cover is already around and going to start taking some of my work load on, as of today. Thank goodness...!
Ofsted is looming for us. I can't work up the energy to care though...!

ToniWol · 02/10/2014 08:22

After finishing on Friday we had the nearly new sales at the weekend and then went to Birmingham to collect the car seat our friends had offered us. We also had a practice with a pram on public transport as Dad had taken the car into town so we had to get a bus, and then the pushchair their eldest uses was in the boot so we navigated the bus network home with their youngest on the bus. Think I got some funny looks as she's only 9.5 months...

Have registered with the new GP and managed to get my flu jab as well (although arm is now sore). But decided that after a very lazy day yesterday that I need to keep up a routine of sorts, so got up with DH, will get dressed in a bit and do some tidying, and then do some knitting after lunch.

Also this morning on FB, the first baby from my NCT class (less than a week after we'd finished Blush - although we did have a wide spread of EDDs so not too surprising). Makes it seem so much more real.

Hope everyone else is feeling okay.

utopian99 · 02/10/2014 08:35

Hello loaf!
Feeling okay here apart from pelvis feels like it's seperating. All to the good i suppose though.
Dh has started planned his hospital bag for me. Grin Last time this involved a selection of all the cured meats and beautiful cheeses i had been denied for 9 months. Best picnic of my life! (Even beat the buttered toast they give you after the birth.. )

Kantha · 02/10/2014 09:47

Missus - my acupuncturist hasn't talked about a pre due date induction with me, but her website does say that she will do inductions once you are post your due date. So that sounds like the same position as your acupuncturist. In the final few weeks they can do stuff that is meant to encourage the baby to get into a better position and to ripen your cervix.

Annarose2014 · 02/10/2014 10:14

congrats on finishing Happypotamus!

Guys I did a bad thing yesterday.....the baby was very quiet all day and at around 6pm I twigged it hadn't moved all afternoon.....so I poked it relentlessly till it moved! Blush Bad Mother!!

And when I got home I got the old Doppler out and had a listen for the heartbeat. Haven't used it since about 20 weeks but i was glad of it! All fine of course, and baby squirming this morning.

Can I ask about Braxton Hicks? I had thought that once they started that they continued. But I haven't had any in a week, even despite starting Raspberry Leaf capsules. Am getting awfully concerned that I don't have any anymore.

Or maybe I have too much time on my hands to worry about things!

TwigletFiend · 02/10/2014 10:44

Anna, I wouldn't worry about it. I haven't had any BH at all, as far as I'm aware! I don't think a lull in them means anything - they seem to be pretty fickle, from my research!

RE acupuncture, Kantha seems to have the same advice DM has given me. She said that from 36 weeks she would start treating to promote optimal positioning of your inside bits and encourage things to start preparing, but that she wouldn't actively try to induce labour. She stressed that that kind of treatment is very much helping nature to take its course, not trying to pre-empt it. Obviously I am biased, but she was a very successful full-time NHS and then private physio & acupuncturist for over 20 years before she semi-retired.

Hi loaf, welcome to the 'working til the bitter end' club! Grin 4 weeks tomorrow for me. Roll on Halloween! I wonder how many babies will have arrived by then?!

Happy last work day, happy! Hope you enjoy that end of day feeling today!

Bean had a party in there last night. DP was away for the evening at a piss up work do, so there was nobody there to witness me being sad and filming it Grin If I could post video on here, I'd share with you all - nobody in the real world gives a monkey's about my Bean's wriggles, but hoping you won't all think I'm crackers for finding it both amazing & slightly freaky at the same time!

OP posts:
Missus2ndwife · 02/10/2014 11:47

Thanks ladies for coming back to me re acupuncture.
Maybe I should ask her to encourage optimal positioning and my cervix to ripen!

Annarose I have just asked my MW the same question as my BH are very intermittent/ non existent. She said everyone is different, some people don't realise they are having them and some people don't have them at all.
This made me feel better.

hotfuzzra · 02/10/2014 11:51

Twiglet that's brilliant, I often want to film mine wiggling but didn't know what I would do with the end product, so I kept sacking it off. Also my phone is so slow and old that by the time it'd be ready Donkey would have gone back to sleep!
With my BH I get them at odd times, and always after, erm, DTD... Try that if you want to feel it! It lasts around 30/40 seconds but if I stand up or move around it goes away. No pain, in fact if I didn't touch my tummy I wouldn't know anything was different, it just feels really solid.
DH was out for drinks too last night, woke me up getting into bed at 3.15!!! Then started snoring too. At least he had the decency to sound sheepish on the phone just now! Apparently we're ready to exchange next week. I'm hoping completion/move 2-3 weeks after that, that makes it around 35/36 weeks. FGS!

Annarose2014 · 02/10/2014 12:30

That makes me feel better Missus

Wierd the way my energy cycle works - I seem to have one good day, one crap day. Today is a good day though - reunion with some work friends tonight! Though I said to my DH that we may go to the pub later and he was all "You're about to give birth! What would you be doing in a pub?!"

As you can imagine that went down like a fart in church. I may not even feel like going on to a pub later, but that'll be damn well my choice!

I think he thinks it both unseemly and potentially dangerous Grin God love him...

Greenstone · 02/10/2014 13:11

Hi everyone. Just catching up with you all again after a hiatus :)

weeonion really thinking of you, I hope you're OK.

Winter - delighted that you've made it this far, all should be really straightforward from now on.

utopian re. your post the other day about anomalies - I'm glad you said that because I'm feeling the same fear. We didn't have any tests as they're not offered here at all unless you pay privately and through the nose. So all I have to go on is a 'normal' looking nuchal fold measurement from the 12-week scan and a normal 20-week scan. It doesn't feel like much. But anyway.

I'm feeling overwhelmed by people's kindness! I was a bit worried that we'd have no newborn clothes for this one because we'd given them all away, but have got an absolute shedload of stuff now from friends, plus a care package arrived today from BIL&SIL with treats for me and gifts for the baby, including a little soft rattle and a wooden gripping toy. I felt touched on DC2's behalf because so it will be inheriting so much from DD, it's nice to have something all of its own, if that makes sense.

35 weeks today and working right up to 38 weeks, it's not such an issue because it's a desk job and I'm feeling fine. Sleeping so much better since I started my iron tablets a few weeks ago, so those with low iron TAKE YOUR TABLETS!

Currently trying to get the house organised and all the crap cleared and every piece of child's clothing in the house sorted into age ranges and packed. It's an ongoing mission...

Hope you are all doing well today, anybody starting to think about labour now? I must admit it's been on my mind for the last couple of weeks!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 02/10/2014 17:13

Had consultant appointment today so c section all booked in had a scan too am 32weeks baby measuring 34weeks so little chunky monkey.

I have 2 tickets for Bluewater baby show next weekend think it costs £10 per adult but we cannot go now so if anyone would like to make a cheeky offer for them please pm me :)

utopian99 · 02/10/2014 18:09

greenstone i know what you mean about dc2 - this one is so close to ds' birth i think the novelty for other people will be gone. Not that it worries us, but i might still buy it something of it's own.

weeoinion we're also hoping you're alright? Do let us know!

fuzzra - have you asked about completion on the same day/3 days after? We've pushed a lot of fast purchases through on houses and most people will agree to complete that fast if you say you can. The mortgage company should only need 2/3 working days to release their portion of the funds..

I remember being 'told off' essentially by a complete stranger in a bar in London when I was out with friends (not drinking obviously) at this pregnant last time anna. I was absolutely ShockAngry

moggle · 02/10/2014 19:42

Eek, mum has just called to say that my friend's dad has just dropped off several bin bags of newborn stuff for us! I know it's at least third hand because she didn't have to buy anything new for her baby (3 months) but I'm so excited to look through it all!!

Loaf99 · 02/10/2014 21:07

Hello everyone! Yes the wriggling is intensifying and always on my right side seems completely oblivious to the left side of my body!! Actually today it's quite uncomfortable as digging right into my side and have a stitch! Will try and jig about xx

weeonion · 02/10/2014 22:18

Hi folks. Just popping and sorry to be selfish and not respond to all yr posts and updates.
