Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
hotfuzzra · 30/09/2014 20:01

Hedgehog I've got one. I'm 6' and read I should have the largest, 75cm. My knees are below my hips when I sit on it, which I think is the important factor.
This size guide is from NCT birth ball shop.
Height 5'5"/165cms and under - 55cm Birth Ball
Height 5'6"/167.5cms - 5'9"/173 cm - 65cm Miracle Birth Ball
Height 5'9"/173cms and over - 75cm Birth Ball
Good luck bouncing!

Strawberryfield12 · 30/09/2014 20:29

twiglet I'm sure they will stock up soon ;)

Thehedgehogsong · 30/09/2014 20:31

Thanks hotfuzzra I had no idea there were proper guidelines! I'm 5ft9 so I guess I go with the big one.
Can't wait to sit comfortably, the sofa and chairs are clearly too soft and low for a woman of my current rotund-ness!

Annarose2014 · 30/09/2014 23:42

I'm 5'7" & have the 65. But if I was taller it'd be too low for me.

WinterLover · 01/10/2014 07:49

I was given a 55cm one, its only just big enough, if id bought one i'd have got a 65cm one.

Had my 35 week MW appointment yesterday, baby is 2/5ths engaged Grin I lost the last bit of my plug yesterday and the pains are getting more frequent.

Anyone know about iron levels? Mine was 13 at booking but at my 28 week bloods its 12.1. Im guessing thats ok? She didnt seem concerned about it

pinkgirlythoughts · 01/10/2014 08:03

Well, after not feeling any better since Sunday, I went to the doctor yesterday, and it seems that my blood pressure is dropping when I stand up, hence the lightheadedness. He also strongly suspects anaemia, but we'll know that for sure when I get my blood test results tomorrow. So I'm off work all week, with the possibility of being signed off next week too, unless these iron tablets turn me onto a new woman when they kick in! I'd like to go back if I can, I want to actually 'finish' work, rather than just stopping one Friday and not going back, but at the minute I'm spending most of the day laid down, so not really feasible at the minute!

WorkFreeWannabe · 01/10/2014 08:24

Get well soon Pink and also whoever else is feeling rough that I've missed Thanks

After a very horrid day at work yesterday I'm now feeling a bit calmer! Off to battle the masses in the tube shortly. Roll on Friday!!!

Just had the startling realisation we've all made it to October!!! GrinGrin

Its a mental thing I've always had as there was early talk of being induced super early due to pre existing health conditions! 33+6 today so I'm feeling pretty chuffed!

Annarose2014 · 01/10/2014 09:25

Winterlover is that your Hb level? If so its fine.

Looks like you'll be the first to go! So exciting! And here I am without even a bag packed!

Annarose2014 · 01/10/2014 09:27

pink TED stockings can help with postural hypotension. You can get them in the chemist.

utopian99 · 01/10/2014 09:33

I'm slowly getting a bag together. Or at least the contents of one.

Bought a new 'thing 2' babygro for the Small when it arrives then panicked I'd jinxed the whole thing. Having forgotten all about it for ages, I am suddenly really worried because we didn't 100% check for downs, just the basic risk which was 1.1200 which I just am not happy about.

I don't know why I'm so paranoid - it's too late now, and if it happens it happens but it'll affect ds' life too. Sorry for the thread downer but it's been on my mind since last night.

blamber · 01/10/2014 09:48

Winter, wow it sounds like you're getting close! Iron should be a minimum of 11 so yours sound fine.

Pink, hope you feel better soon.

bunnykitten · 01/10/2014 10:33

Winter my iron levels have dropped from 12.5 to 11.5 which they said was ok, so I'm sure you're fine too.

Annarose2014 · 01/10/2014 11:18

utopian we never checked for anomolies at all. So what will be will be at this stage. And they're still gonna need babygros!

I haven't thought about it for ages either - I've been kinda thinking that cos its so active and strong that it must be within normal parameters. And DH won't think about it at all. But I suppose a bit of a think is a good thing, so that if it does happen it won't be a bolt out of the blue.

Honestly at this stage I don't care. I just want to see his little face. And the support is great these days, from Day 1.

www.kellehampton.com/2010/01/nella-cordelia-birth-story.html

This is a blogpost recounting a birth where she had no warning her child would have DS. Absolutely beautiful. But be warned, I cried buckets so read in private!

utopian99 · 01/10/2014 12:38

Oh anna, that's made me a sobbing wreck. Ds is asleep and all i want to do is wake him up and hug him. It does make me feel less guilty about being scared of my own reaction though, and I know we'll deal with it somehow IF it happens..

hotfuzzra · 01/10/2014 13:42

Afternoon ladies. Hope everyone is feeling better.
That link brought a tear to my eye!
I've a quick question, for a 'normal' pregnancy is the last scan you get your week 20 one? I'm having a week 34 appt and to be honest I don't know what will happen after that, midwife said every two weeks then every week. Is that just midwife appts though?
I'm only 32 weeks and it's going SOOOO SLOWLY - why can't I have baby NOW! (Obviously want it to cook a little longer, until s/he's completely ready...I'm just feeling so impatient!)
Still not got a move date. Angry My mum made the mistake of saying 'oh you're cutting it fine now aren't you?!' (kindly) and had to endure my rant on actually, 'we're' not cutting it fine, having put our offer in at the start of June I thought it was reasonable to expect we'd be in by now! Stupid old biddy needs to get out of OUR house lol
Sorry. Needed a rant and I think DH has coped admirably with my rants and could do with a break... (I've started my AL/Mat leave too so can't even rant at my colleagues!)
Anyway, hope we're all well today :)

TwigletFiend · 01/10/2014 14:14

Afternoon, ladies!

Winter, sounds like things might be making their way towards happening. Crossing fingers for you that your LO cooks for a little longer, but you're on the home stretch now! Hope that knowledge helps you to relax and feel positive about imminent birth Smile

pink, sorry to hear you're feeling rubbish. I can sympathise completely given the BP problems I have had! Hopefully you'll stabilise and start to feel better. Do just watch yourself when standing up etc. though - I've found going from lying to standing can make me feel terribly sick. Also, make sure you're eating and drinking plenty. As soon as I get thirsty/hungry, I start to feel dizzy and hot.

WorkFree, I don't remember if you've mentioned the chance of early induction before or not, I'm afraid, but wahoo for you for getting this far! I keep telling myself that I am 33+3, but having re-read a few pages back on the thread I had the sudden realisation that this is actually the 34th week of my pregnancy Shock How exciting!

Another reasonable day for me today. Didn't sleep that well as I struggle a bit with hip/back pain when I turn over (which is about every hour!) but weirdly I feel quite energetic today. I think that might fade by this afternoon though Hmm. Ribs not too sore today either, a little bit of an ache but nothing unbearable. Getting some very odd squirmy feelings in my left lower abdomen as I'm typing this - feels like being prodded from the inside! Grin

Kantha · 01/10/2014 14:54

Hello October!! Officially I am meant to have a baby this month Shock. That feels alarmingly soon and depressingly far away all at the same time. I have been feeling decidedly crap for the last week or so. Lots of pressure low down and not sleeping so well. I suspect though it won't be until November as my original due date was 7 Nov.

I have just had the first of weekly acupuncture sessions to get me prepared for D Day. I did this last time too. No idea if it worked but I did have a very straightforward delivery just before my due date (unlike the first time), so I am putting my faith and ££ in acupuncture again. The acupuncturist was lovely, but she did say she thought I might 'go early' and so she treated me to avoid that. No downward pressure needles or something. I really understand nothing about acupuncture but I do think it can be quite powerful and is a fascinating subject. I also feel much brighter and more energetic than I did this morning. (Placebo effect?? )

Is the lady on this thread who swears by acupuncture in helping her get her BFP still posting?

Anna - I remember reading that Kelle Hampton post a couple of years ago. Definitely a bit of a tear jerker.

Winter. Hope you are ok. Sounds like you might not have much longer to wait.

Wee onion. How are doing?

Annarose2014 · 01/10/2014 15:52

hotfuzzra I have had no scan since 20 weeks and should have none either.

I feel like the baby has really gotten bigger in the last week. What I think is a bum is wedged right up under my ribs. So baby is now taking up all the space in my torso and I feel every bit of it! I'm finding it hard to move - have a proper cartoon waddle now.

I'm 35 + 3 and my God I'm getting tired. I keep reading about people who go on massive power walks in Week 39 to "get things moving" and I'm fabbergasted. How??! I'm really struggling just walking the dog! I must look a right sight swaying down the road!

moggle · 01/10/2014 17:14

I've been having acupuncture since before our BFP (had IVF) but am unsure what happens nearer due date - Kantha did you have to connect up your acupuncturist and midwife for the MW to give the OK? My acupuncturist has talked about the point at which she moves from general treatment (eg I moan I'm not sleeping so she places the needles to help that supposedly), to specifically trying to help the delivery along. I'm not exactly evangelical about acupuncture but I like the lady and so decided to carry on...

Had an annoying piece of news today, I went to visit the on-site nursery at work just yesterday, which was lovely, and I was dreaming about how convenient it was all going to be having baby just 5 mins walk away from my desk. Then today I found out they have just been given their 30 day notice to close. Really disappointing although obviously far far worse for the poor staff and the parents who have to find alternative childcare at 30 days notice!

Anna I've had a bum up in my ribs for a while :-) thought it was a head at first but MW said it was definitely a bum... it reminds me of that episode of OBEM when the baby was crowning and midwife was suddenly "OH MY GOD this baby's breech!" cue massive influx of staff and crash team, then the doctor has a look and goes "Um, no, that IS a head..." Can you imagine telling your child in future years, yes your head looked like a bum...

utopian99 · 01/10/2014 17:40

Grin at that moggle.

Re accupuncture, I've had two sessions (1 per month) in run up to birth, then one around due date booked to push the issue and one a week later just in case..

Kantha · 01/10/2014 17:51

Hi Moggle. Sorry I had forgotten your username. I just contacted the acupuncturist independently of the mw. She had been recommended by a few friends who have gone overdue and used her services for an acupuncture induction. At booking in I did mention acupuncture to the MW and she was quite positive about it.

The acupuncturist plans to change tack at 38 weeks and start trying to 'ripen my cervix' then (I will be 36 weeks tomorrow). By the sounds of it today I was looking a little over ripe GrinBlush

Thehedgehogsong · 01/10/2014 19:00

hotfuzzra I'm in the same boat! Made an offer in June and still not in! I think I will have a baby before I will have space for it...! X

starfish99 · 01/10/2014 19:50

Moggle and Anna - my baby's favourite position seems to be bum under ribs - so uncomfy, especially when trying to eat!

After a few quiet days baby has been moving non-stop today, ferreting about right down low - must be its hands? such a weird feeling.

pink - I have quite low blood pressure too and read that drinking loads of water is supposed to help. not sure if it works but I've been drinking more and feel a lot better for it.

gave my dh the fright of his life last night. woke up in the middle of the night with such painful cramp in my leg. Was screaming as couldn't reach my foot to pull back my toes. dh leapt out of bed, think he thought I was going into labour and was like 'what shall I do, what shall I do!?' poor thing nearly had a heart attack!

WorkFreeWannabe · 01/10/2014 21:49

LOL Starfish sounds exactly like how my DH would react. My little man seems to be in the same position and also constantly trying to push his little bum out my side. I'm hoping he drops soon so I can breathe normally again.

Twiglet I would have mentioned it many moons threads ago when I first joined. There was talk of not letting me go past 36 weeks, but that changed around 20 weeks which I'm very happy about.

Fingers crossed Hotfuzzra and Thehedgehogsong that things work out soon and you finally get moving. I remember the stress when we bought our house, something I won't be looking to repeat again in a hurry.

2 days left at work!!! GrinGrin Roll on annual leave and mat leave
