At least 3 people have independently said how well i'm looking (last few days). Can they not see the sleep deprived eyes, the slow shuffle-hobble walk? Perhaps it's the top I was wearing yesterday but all of a sudden the bump felt massive. Being a large lady anyway, it's not entirely obvious that it's a baby not cake though (as one chap at work made it clear yesterday when it emerged he didn't know I was pregnant)

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 23/09/2014 07:18

Peace, I had that done to monitor blood oxygen a few years ago. No one is EVER going to do that to me again!Angry So painful!

Maybe its the.moon or something but I had a bad day mentality yesterday too. lots of doubt, sadness and tears. Cat, dont beat yourself up. You will be a good mother, you are a lovely supportive person. You will have bad days and good days but you will learn how to do things in a way that suits you. You don't have to be perfect. Your head right now is telling you your fears, not the reality of how its going to be. All the doubt is magnified at the minute because you feel so shit. It'll be ok. x

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 23/09/2014 07:20

Taura, I am the same. It took ages for my bump to show but now it does I am bloody enormous!

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 23/09/2014 08:30

I think I've just about convinced DH to let me blow my money on the new pram, and I looked over at the old one, and thought, "hey, it's not so bad" Shock wtf is wrong with me?!

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 23/09/2014 09:14

Hormones! I alternate between being pleased at the amazing bargain we have had with our second hand buggy, and absolutely distraught that "my baby has nothing new, how much a mess have I made of my life that I cant afford new things for my child, I'm no different from my parents!" Ohhhhh the drama lol!!! Grin Grin Grin

Lucy90 · 23/09/2014 09:52

Is anyone in the mothercare baby club? I had an email this morning about an exclusive sale, just ordered 160 pounds worth of clothes for baby and it came to 48 pounds! And they have some maternity stuff in aswel
27+1

SassehMonsta · 23/09/2014 10:03

Yesterday was horrific, hoping today is better. Lucy, no, how do I sign up! :P

Super wriggly baby yesterday evening though, which partly made up for the bad day.

Not much else to say, but yay for granola being OK for brekkie!

Lucy90 · 23/09/2014 10:47

Sasseh type mothercare baby club into google and the link will come up

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 23/09/2014 10:47

Work is such a ballache.

Hugmonster82 · 23/09/2014 10:49

Does anyone else get spells of feeling really dizzy? The last few mornings I've been feeling very dizzy and can feel my heart beating really fast. I'm sat down at work so not as if I'm doing anything strenuous! Should I be worried?

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 23/09/2014 10:51

I do Hug. I think it's increased blood flow etc

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 23/09/2014 12:46

Not heard anything from the hospital yet. Am I allowed to be quietly hopeful?

ffallada · 23/09/2014 12:59

Just wondering - and apologies if this has been discussed before - is everyone going for the flu jab when it's out?

I'm booked in for the whooping cough (dip, tetnis etc) jab in two weeks which I researched and decided to go for. the receptionist mentioned that the nurse would have the flu jab by then if I wanted. I've been offered the flu jab before through my work, but I've never taken it as (generally) I'm very healthy. I catch the odd bad cold but I can't remember the last time I've actually had the flu. My midwife (who I do not like) told me that she has seen new mothers die from flu (can you see why I don't like her?!?)

I want to be safe an I do buy into the uk vaccination programme, but Also I don't want over vaccinate for no good reason.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 23/09/2014 13:40

I'm defo getting the flu jab. I have it every year as my immunity is dreadful anyway, and much worse now I'm pregnant. Colds affect me the same way flu does other people, so when I actually get flu, it's bad.

SassehMonsta · 23/09/2014 13:43

Sorry ffallada, I always get the flu jab already due to my lungs. :/ I have had no info about the whooping cough at all yet, so will need to remember to ask my mw tomorrow.

I rang about my free surestart parenting classes, they booked me in for Nov - I feel its rather close! But hey, its free :)

BigHairyLeggedSpider · 23/09/2014 13:54

Yes to flu jab. Severe Asthma here so am not risking it.

LotsaTuddles · 23/09/2014 14:21

Yes, my MW really thinks I should get it as every child I ever get goes straight to my chest so think she's hoping it'll help and I've had it the last few years through work anyway.

I always feel dizzy, even when I'm not pregnant, but I have low blood pressure.

Feeling really shitty, my friend and her DS had come over for the day, we're literally all just sitting in our pjs, the boys are paying nicely yet I'm absolutely exhausted, my hips and back are killing me and I feel like I haven't slept in over a week

Lucy90 · 23/09/2014 14:28

Just rang and booked parent craft classes, starting end of october!! Tried to make an appointment or whooping cough vaccine and receptionist wont give me an appointment! Im seeing the midwife on monday so hopefully she can book me in!

LisaC2611 · 23/09/2014 14:56

ffallada I'm sceptical about having the flu jab. We have a family history of it not agreeing, it gave my nan mini-strokes, doesn't agree with my mum and one of my uncles who is now in a wheelchair was told it could be because of the jab. When I spoke to my midwife on Friday I told her my concerns, after saying I was definitely booking in for the whooping cough but wasn't sure about the flu, agreed and said that as I hadn't had flu before and I did not work in a hugely populated industry (ie teaching or nursing) she agreed that I did not need to have it.

I discussed with my DH and he said that he thinks I should have it, because its probable that it won't affect me in the same way it did my nan or uncle, and that its obviously better for the baby, so I am going to discuss with the nurse when I have my whooping cough jab on Thursday and see what they say.

Am feeling absolutely shattered today. DH went out last night and didn't get home until 12.30 and then at 4.10 this morning his mobile and our house phone was ringing because one of the servers he works on in New York broke. It took me about an hour to get back to sleep and then he didn't come back to bed until 5.50 (having spent 2 hours fixing the problem) which disturbed me again. DH was also really grumpy when he got up which got my back up a bit so I told him so.

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 23/09/2014 17:37

Haha all this talk of flu jabs has made me ring up to book mine and they had space tomorrow! Excellent stuff!

Somersetgirl1990 · 23/09/2014 18:30

I've just had a midwife appointment and was chatting about the flu jab but I'm so undecided! I'm definately going to have the whooping cough jab as I couldn't bear for baby to get it but I think the flu jab is a bit unnecessary, I've never had flu, I'm not around lots of people all the time and think my immune system has actually improved since being pregnant (although midwife seemed to think this was impossible). Plus I hate needles Blush

Peaceloveandbiscuits · 23/09/2014 18:33

Does never having had flu make you less likely to catch it? A few people have said that and I wondered where the logic comes from?

I was saying to DH last night that hopefully by the time I'm old I'll have caught every cold mutation going and won't get sick Grin

Hopefully the nurse tomorrow will witness my cough and tell me whether it's something I ought to see the doctor about too! Confused

Hugmonster82 · 23/09/2014 20:04

Maybe never having had flu shows that you have a stronger immune system so would make you less likely to get it? The flu virus mutates and varies from year to year so it's unlikely that you'd be naturally resistant to all types even if you have antibodies for some. Unfortunately even the vaccine is a best guess of which strain will be prevalent that year but think it's still worth getting it as pregnant women are a lot more vulnerable both to catching it and developing complications. I've had flu once and the only comparable exhaustion is pregnancy exhaustion. Don't even want to imagine what they're like combined!

stationaryace · 23/09/2014 20:09

I'm not having the flu jab. If I'd had it previously and knew how I would react then maybe, but as it is I'm sticking with whooping cough only. I'll only have a few weeks left at work before going on mat leave anyway and my job is sitting on a quiet office. If any family get flu they'll just be banned from the house which suits me fine :)

Bubblybint · 23/09/2014 20:22

LisaC we are also having lots of work done in the house. It's getting in the way of my nesting!! Monkey baby, I'd love to join the Fb group. What a lovely welcoming thread! ??
