A few babies have already arrived, with more due to make their entrance soon, and it's not even September yet!

polka It is upsetting to be told you can't have the sort of birth you want. I had been battling to be able to go to the birth centre rather than labour ward before but due to consultant requesting another growth scan and still concerned about the risk of GD feel that that's also not an option for me now and I did get very upset about that and worried, like you, about being stuck on my back and hooked up to machines.

Midwife was reassuring about this though and stated how although it may not be ideal there are things that can be done to make it more birth centre like in terms of monitoring and equipment and if it's safe, so you can get as much of the type of birth you want as far as possible. She did warn DP he would be have to be a vocal advocate about these things at the time though!

The lack of consistency and continuity in care coupled with the very anti-social attitude I find a lot of consultants have is very frustrating, so can certainly understand your concerns! I never see the same consultant or midwife twice.

Polka sorry to hear that the consultant wasn't very good today. Its a shame that they aren't all good communicators! But at the hospital I am giving birth in, they do have a pool in the labour ward too. It may be worth asking to see if that is an option? But as Lilone says, make sure you speak out if you do end up in the labour ward, to try and get as much your way as you can.

Finished work today to start mat leave. Feel so relieved, and plan a very lazy day tomorrow Grin (apart from the midwife visit!)

ilove don't worry your post didn't upset me!

I have been expressing but today we have a new plan, no more expressing just breastfeeding so he can't be reliant on having the bottle. So far he has managed two feeds 4hrs apart, one was 30 minutes long the other was 45 minutes. Just waiting now for him to wake up for his next feed!

lilone1234 · 21/08/2014 18:44

cookie that sounds like good progress to me!

Thank you everyone. He is on 97th centile at the moment - according to my notes because I wasnt told. When I pressed him he did start to talk of the risks of shoulder dystocia if weight went above 10lb and the possibility of elective section. I doubt he would have told me anything if I didnt ask but he hadnt actually read my notes. Thank you.

Am 36 weeks 1 day tea x aww bless her glad she's doing well x

Think I've got the bug that's going round, my belly is killing & I've just thrown up :( my eldest son is the same but he's miles away atm at my mums house, OHs sister has been really poorly too & a few of my fb friends :( just what I need right now :(

xxmissbrightsidexx · 21/08/2014 19:47

White I've tried my best to be positive from the start :) easier said than done sometimes though x

Anyone else got a competitive sister? Bloody hell mine is doing my head in. She's pregnant & 4 weeks behind me, really biting my tongue with her atm! Xx

Teabiscuits · 21/08/2014 19:54

5lb 2 sounds ok then missbright I would advise that you get some tiny baby sized clothes though, just from past experience of having small measurements. The newborn sized stuff is enormous on babies under about 7 lb!
Ugh, a tummy bug is definitely not what you need right now. Hope you feel better soon X

Yeah tea OH was saying we'll need to get some tiny baby stuff, our 2yr old was 8lb when he was born none of the clothes we bought fit him, only thing that did was Next first size, he's still quite small now & fits into smaller sizes whereas things his age drown him x first size will no doubt drown this little one though so any suggestions on where sells nice tiny baby sleepsuits etc?x
Ella I had tears streaming down my face, only just made it to the loo to throw up, now I'm laid on the sofa with my hot water bottle all alone feeling sorry for myself x ugh it couldn't have come at a worse time x

topmammy · 21/08/2014 21:13

Wow a new thread! How many days have I not posted?! Lol my days are starting to become a sleep deprived mush now Confused

Hope everyone is ok xx

TwosaCrowd · 21/08/2014 22:01

Missbrightside- boots do nice early/tiny baby sized stuff

Marjal12 · 21/08/2014 23:23

Asda had some lovely tiny baby and first size stuff in too. Agree with TwosaCrowd about Boots - nicest stuff I got first time round was from there. And top tip if you have a long baby, which we did, Sainsbury's sleep suits are the longest!

xxmissbrightsidexx · 22/08/2014 02:35

Thanks ladies I'll have a look when I feel up to facing town xx

misog2000 · 22/08/2014 04:38

Eugh I'm awake again, so sick of not being able to sleep. How am I supposed to function at work tomorrow when I've been up all night! Can't even work from home as got 4 new members of staff who will have nothing to do all day if I don't go in.

DearDinah · 22/08/2014 04:53

misog I can't sleep either, how long have you got left at work?
I feel like every twinge is the start of something & it's keeping me awake!

TeamEponine · 22/08/2014 04:55

I'm awake too! Have been since 3.30, and no signs of sleep returning. Think I might just get up and go watch GBBO whilst eating left over chocolate brownies and doing my nails Grin I hate insomnia so much, and it is not just a pregnancy thing for me Sad

DearDinah · 22/08/2014 05:01

Oh team It is horrid, I had bouts of it in my 20's my stupid brain doesn't switch off!
I have a breastfeeding workshop tomorrow at the hospital...I want to BF but not holding up much hope I'll be able too. I'm just terrified they don't let you leave hospital after a section till you can show them you're doing it? Not sure how accurate that is?

DearDinah · 22/08/2014 05:06

By tomorrow I mean today :-/

dontevenblink · 22/08/2014 07:04

Sorry that some of you have insomnia, I had it really badly with my first pregnancy, so you have my sympathies Flowers My problem often is (even when not pregnant) that I start worrying about stuff then can't turn off again...

Just noticed your photos at the end of the last thread bugoven, little Dexter is adorable!! I especially love the photo of him 'sunbathing' - he looks so laid back Grin

misog2000 · 22/08/2014 07:38

I've got another 10 days dinah, my job is quite stressful but I normally love it, can't wait to finish now though. Going to go in and set some work for the new guys then come home and try and sleep as don't think I'll make it through the day otherwise, I am fortunate to have the flexibility to do that I suppose. Sorry that you and team are also suffering, it's horrible

DearDinah · 22/08/2014 07:47

misog get as much nappage in as you can, that's my plan, it might help to start getting used to mish mashed sleep times anyway!
