My preggo friend who had a vaginal birth previously is super keen to avoid a CS too due to having a similar sounding blood disorder (if not the same) as you Goats as she was told the healing time for the scar would be quite long, so I imagine that will factor in for you too, she's doing natal hypno as well, hope it does the job for her Smile
Yellow My mum had one of those ECV things done when she was preggo with my older sister. I had a wee read up on them and it does seem to be a mixed bag of experiences, but my mum remembers hers with some hilarity as the midwife shook the bottle of talc they use for lubrication land the lid came flying off, and most of the talc came poofing out, coating her and my mum's 70s hippy hair, probably pan-sticked face and denim pinafore in a thick film of white!! MW somehow turned the baby through both of them giggling and then the pair of them walked out of the room still guffawing away like a pair of overenthusiastic coke addicts!

whoop whoop Mrsb, gawd I'm jealous, but only a fortnight to go for me, have a good one Grin

mrsb87 · 22/08/2014 06:53

Even better is that I'm finishing early today as I have an appointment with the midwife later too!

I like the phrase "this too shall pass" - whether it be the period of healing from whichever birth experience we may have, or being pregnant (which, contrary to current feelings, does not last forever, honest Wink ) or a non-sleeping baby (seriously, DS, ten months old and still not sleeping for more than three hours at a time?!?) and when you do reflect back from the other side of it all, you realise how awesome and strong you really are.

Mamami · 22/08/2014 07:45

This is probably the only place I can whinge at 7.44am (10 minutes after alarm going off). Finding it harder and harder to get out of bed. Just lying here wondering why I constantly have to move my 32 week bulk around.

SweetPeaPods · 22/08/2014 08:05

Shire that phrase is very useful in babies first year isn't it!! Actually not even first year, ds is 14m and I'm still saying it! Teething, growth spurts, jabs, sleep regressions, can't believe I'm doing it all again so soon must be mad but I love it Smile

ExcitedCJ · 22/08/2014 08:13

My 3 YO stayed in her own bed until 7:30am!!!!!! :) :) :)
I can't believe I woke before her. Hopefully her 5am wake up calls have passed!

YellowWellies · 22/08/2014 08:18

Trying to do a finger prick blood test with a toddler (you'd previously distracted with his favourite breakfast) clinging to your knees clamouring for a cuddle is a little stressful. Easy to teach how to do it in a clinic with no blimmin kids around! Third high reading - guess I need to start taking the insulin tablets Sad

This too shall pass - got me through labour and reflux and blimmin sleep regressions! Smile

Me23 · 22/08/2014 08:21

gunwalloe · 22/08/2014 10:20

yellow how high are your readings going?
I had a stupidly high one this morning that didn't make sense washed my hands and it went down to normal I must have had sugar on my finger it scared me I'm desperate to stay diet controlled.

I will be having my third cs I'm not worried about other peoples story's what will be will be I'm actually most nervous about not being able to feel my legs my last two where emergencys one with edipural and one under general I've not experienced a spinal before.

hefner · 22/08/2014 10:53

Glad you got a lie in CJ. I'm very jealous of MrsB being on your last day! Can't wait to finish work, I've had enough. Only 3 weeks to go.

I had my 34 week midwife appt today and everything is fine, although I found out that my 28 week blood tests showed low iron but the midwife forgot to follow it up, so today's midwife gave me a prescription for iron tablets. That explains why I've been feeling so tired. I've heard iron tablets can have nasty side effects, is anyone else taking them?

We now have carpets upstairs and bedrooms decorated, yay! Had a load of IKEA furniture delivered this morning so this weekend's job is building it. I'm hoping we can get dd into her own room next weekend to free up the nursery so I can finally get some baby clothes out of the attic!

SweetPeaPods · 22/08/2014 11:13

Hefner exactly the same for me. I saw mw yesterday and apparently there has been an iron prescription at drs waiting for me to collect after my 28w blood tests showed low iron. Funnily enough if they don't tell you, you don't pick it up!!
I bought some liquid iron in boots yesterday as it's a bit gentler on tummy than the tablets dr prescribes.

sazzlehopes · 22/08/2014 11:31

I think (within reason) we should be able to post what we want on here. And after all it's like reading a text or email and you can't hear the tone of voice etc. what goats said wasn't any worse than say yellow writing off reusable nappies/wipes because poo is so bad after you introduce food. Uhhh actually no, not true for all...we managed fine up til he potty trained at just after 2.5 years. I just dealt with it with flushable liners..not that bad at all. I intend to cloth nappy with this one too.

That is an example obviously...I'm not having a go at yellow for her opinion or her story, it's just that it is so easy to say, oh I'd hate that, or oh I really don't want to do that. Well it's just your option not for everyone!!

Come on it's not like we haven't heard bad birth stories and good ones.
Ok so after a planned home birth I ended up with EMCS but healed up ok. Was slow and painful, but no nasty stitching stories to share! This time I'd like VBAC but we shall see. I never hear a birth story and think, oh no, that will be me. Everyone is so different it's not worth the panic!

Happy (achy) Friday everyone!!!!

robindeer · 22/08/2014 11:37

I think it's important that we can talk about things that are worrying us and our birth preferences; regardless of how things may go on the day, we all have them. I recognise that I may not have an option and of course it goes without saying that my ultimate and overriding concern is that the baby and I are fit and well, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I'm afraid of having a c section, and of any major intervention.

I think it's easier to express that on this forum than with family or friends who simply reassure. The good thing about this ongoing thread is that we're all in the same situation with similar concerns and it's good to chat about them. There's no sugar coating here and that's helped me know what not to worry about. In terms of tmi sharing I've realised a lot of the gross aspects of pregnancy are completely normal! My latest is the boob leakage, which dp finds hilarious. I'm thinking it's no coincidence that our sex life has died a death...

BadgerInBury · 22/08/2014 11:38

I've been on the iron tablets for the last five weeks and they've made a world of difference. The best advice I had was start out taking one a day and take it at bedtime with a snack and orange juice (which helps your body absorb more of it) then build it up over the first few days to your prescribed dose so your body can get used to it. It will take a couple of weeks before you feel the effects but it will be worth it - I didn't realise that low mood, feeling fluey and heart palpitations were all part of anaemia along with the tiredness. I've not had any horrible side effects really except that it's made my poo go black and tarry! (Sorry if TMI...) Make sure they test you again at about 33 weeks, mine had fallen again so I needed to increase my dose then.

mrsb Congrats on your last day. I can't wait til it's me - only one more week to go!

robindeer · 22/08/2014 11:40

Cross post sazzle!

MrsBadCrumble74 · 22/08/2014 11:52

missus2ndwife thanks for the tip on the M&S sale with the beauty box Smile. I needed to get some maternity nightwear and free beauty goodies are always loads of fun.

mrsb Happy maternity leave Flowers. I started my maternity leave on Wednesday. It's so lovely to have some time to relax/run around and get those last minute things sorted. Time seems to be accelerating in an alarming way Shock

I agree that we shouldn't sugar coat every birth story. Everyones will be different with positives and negatives. My first was a real combination of the two so I am prepared for all outcomes - as much as you can! However the way things are written can sometimes come across rather alarmingly even if the writer didn't quite intend it that way. Given we are all coming to the end of our pregnancy journeys and probably nervous, scared, excited, hormonal maybe we need to think about how we say something.

yellowwellies I find it impossible to do my blood glucose readings with my dd around. It's a combination of "Why?"….."ewww mummy's bleeding" lol. I'm struggling with my breakfast readings - bread seems to be very tricky although lots of protein, especially eggs help. I am going to turn into an egg by the end of this……. [hmmm]

gunwalloe · 22/08/2014 12:02

mrsbad I hadn't had toast for breakfast for weeks as it was producing highs but I read yesterday that if you have peanut butter on toast it lowers the effect I was very sceptical but desperate for something rather than eggs and bacon for breakfast so tried it and it only produced a 5.4 I'm so pleased I now have another option. Of course it may not work for others or you may not even like peanut butter but I thought I would mention it.
