Mine will probably faint before I'm even in the room. This is the guy that still laughs when I've had breast exams... mature. The fact he also thinks labour wilk be 'a bit like bad wind' also doesn't fill me with confidence...

Happy birthday fedup!

fatpony · 20/08/2014 21:44

All this talk of the business end is cracking me up - the indignities we have to go through!

I only just read this evening that you are not meant to wear underwired bras during pregnancy, something to do with the milk ducts? Oops. I'm still in normal bras and all are underwired I think so might have to go and get myself measured for those maternity/nursing bras...

Anyone else feel like totally against having to buy more maternity stuff now we're on the home straight? I need some more trousers but really don't want to have to buy them.

Mamami · 20/08/2014 22:51

Absolutely. They are so pricey. I'm just in my normal bras, some of my baggier pre-pregnant tops and maxi dresses. Gave in and bought one nursing bra for after she's here land two maternity t-shirts for work. Everything else will just have to do now. Just 8 weeks to go! Would rather buy this one some outfits than fork out £40 on a pair of elasticated jeans!

SweetPeaPods · 21/08/2014 06:53

Fat pony i wore mine for a little while after birth too.
eBay worth a look too. I needed a white shirt for an event at work so knew I'd only wear it once. Got one with labels on for under a fiver and it was 30quid in shop!
Jojo maman bebe leggings are great though as the over bump area has bump support to help take some weight of bump.

SweetPeaPods · 21/08/2014 06:56

Meant to add don't worry about the underwire. If the bras fit properly the wire does no harm. I would love to wear my normal bras but haven't been able to from around 6wk pg. I just hate wearing bras in pg so got what look like crop tops/sports bras that have no straps etc. not the sexiest but very comfy.
Mothercare do good sleep bras for post birth though, suitable for bf and I needed them for my breast pads but couldn't sleep in a normal bra so they were good.

Me23 · 21/08/2014 07:29

Omg had such trouble with this new layout trying to post since yesterday. I've been away visiting family in the country. Didn't want to come home. I haven't been taking my iron since I was away as I didn't want to spend my break in the toilet and feeling miserable :-( good news is although I'm still anaemic the iron has raised my hb levels a bit so some of it is being absorbed.

Re purple line it certainly isn't a doll proof method of assessing dilatation as I've had women who should e fully dilated according to purple line theory but when I've examined they have been less. Also some women don't get it at all.

Another vote here for the mothercare sleep bras they were so comfy I practically lived in mine! I need to go shopping for some bras and pads etc.

Anyway my moan of the day is I have a cold I feel rotten and all bunged up!

pinkfizzsparkles · 21/08/2014 07:39

jellybean that's interesting about the purple line theory. When I had my DD I remember being in transition and on my side and the midwife saying let's see how close you are. She parted my bum and had a look!! I always wondered what she was doing. I've googled it now and had a read. That's fascinating and something I didn't know.

I thought my DH would be squeamish about the delivery but far from it. He was down the business end helping the midwife with the stirrups and reckons he caught DD when she came flying out!! She was showing him my tear and he was having a good old look!! TBH I didn't care at the time.

goats I hated been touched too. I didn't even want a back rub early on. I kind of retracted into myself and needed to be left alone. I googled crowning images after reading your post yesterday and wish I hadn't!

m&s sale on and saw some nice unisex sleep suits online yesterday.

Kirstipops · 21/08/2014 07:41

My whinge is that it took 45 mins for me to feel the effects of paracetamol I popped this morning when I woke up too early with usual sore upper back and fanjo region. Started to drift off as they kicked in and then my 6am alarm went off, rage!

mrsb87 · 21/08/2014 07:47

Oh dear me, the winter colds have started! I know other people who have the start of a cold. You've had a rough few weeks, I hope you pick up a bit soon.

I've been wearing my normal bras a my books haven't grown yet! Only part of me that looks different is my massive belly! I might pop into mother care at the weekend and look at bras etc. Need to get one for my hospital bag anyway. The great bathroom project continues this weekend! I'm not sure how I feel about all the tools/equipment littering the room right now as my coordination is ruddy awful and I keep tripping over stuff!

I'm going to treat myself to some painkillers today. Have avoided them all along but need a useful non whingy day. No aching labia would be super even for half an hour. Spare room skirting board is the job.

My brother said he wasn't going to look at the business end, but got so fascinated that my sil said he was practically useless as a help for her. Haha.

Still in under wires and normal pants here too. Can't bring myself to buy any new clothes either, so leggings it is. I think I'll be in my jojo ones for some time - they are lovely and supportive feeling.

tak1ngchances · 21/08/2014 08:20

I might need some painkillers too...still have a verrrry tender coccyx and had to sit in a little hard plastic chair for 3 hours at antenatal class last night. Owwwwww

tak1ngchances · 21/08/2014 08:21

Oh and 33 weeks today!

fedupofrainydays · 21/08/2014 08:34

This layout is weird! Can't get used to it!
Thanks for the bday messages ladies. Had a lovely day. And the sun was out for our trip to the beach in the afternoon.
Also heard builder hasn't done the stairs yet so expecting the worst for going back home - ie we still can't move back in. FFS I'm DESPERATE to nest. Let me at it!!!!

DH was down the business end too with ds. Was telling me how much head / hair he could see. He's not at all squeamish though and ignored my requests to stay at my head! I was worried he may view me differently - I guess he does but in a positive way, more 'you are amazing' to grow and give birth to this wonderful baby... Rather than eugh, that was gross!

mum2kiss · 21/08/2014 09:14

My dp is very squeamish and keeps commenting about the days men were not allowed in the room! Sorry love...you were there when we got into this situation and you will sodding well be there when we get out of it!

I refuse to buy any more maternity clothes too...leggings and a tshirt looking mahoosive is the new look for me!

binkybunny · 21/08/2014 09:35

I've been in mat clothes since week 12 and they are now getting tight but really not wanting to buy more. I've found New Look to be amazing for value, bought lots of 3 for £12 tops, a pair of black trousers for £4 and jeans for £12. They wouldn't last a second pregnancy but wish I'd got the jeans in a size bigger as they are getting a bit small around my bump and thighs now but will hopefully do for the few weeks after (or maybe forever as I love the stretchy waistband Wink )

I'm off work today to ice my sister's wedding cakes. had an amazing 8 hours sleep last night, only stirred with back ache when rolling over a few times. Still struggling to get my arse out of bed at 9.30 though, I'm turning into a slob Blush

ohthegoats · 21/08/2014 09:36

FFS I'm DESPERATE to nest.

Haha, me too fedup - but I really don't have an option about nesting anywhere downstairs. So, I've 'nested' into one chest of drawers (currently sat on the landing underneath a mouldy sloped ceiling that is threatening to fall down), where all baby clothes, nappies, bath stuff, etc etc is clean and folded and ready to go. In the bottom drawer is a packed hospital bag. I've also sort of nested (in that doing the job made me feel so much better) by clearing away all of our clothes into new wardrobes and chests in the bedroom - and setting up of a nursing area with chair, table for drinks and books, and space for a cot just by that. All that is left in the 'nursery' now is our books - LOADS of books - they could potentially go downstairs once the bathroom stuff has been moved next week. At that point we could perhaps even consider plastering and putting a door onto that room. How exciting.

fatpony · 21/08/2014 10:00

Cool - I'm going to look at the JMB over the bump leggings and the Mothercare sleep bras. I know I'm going to have to buy a bit more because the stuff I have so far is quite summery - linen trousers, maxi dresses etc and if the weather turns in September and gets chilly and rainy they won't cut it.

fedupofrainydays · 21/08/2014 10:27

Jealous that you have managed that goats!! All our stuff is piled to the ceiling in the cabin at the bottom of the garden. I keep freaking out baby will come early and the car seat and clothes are somewhere at the bottom of the pile and no doubt filthy!!
Ds' room is where the stairs are going for the loft conversion and before we left for this week away I opened the door to a black cloud of dust - so quickly shut it again and tried to erase it from my memory! Can't tell you how painful this is with having to fight the nesting instinct!!
We basically have two useable rooms in our house - one dining room (now the living room with all our stuff in) and one bathroom (ok it's got a hole in the wall to outside but still useable!). I so wanted to be able to move in when we get back on Monday but no... Still homeless. It's either travellodge or beg neighbours to have us back! On plus side it's my last week at work! But I keep getting these really sick / dizzy spells about 10am. Had one since 9.30. Dreading getting these at work as can't really go lie down on the office floor!

tak1ngchances · 21/08/2014 10:33

If it makes you all feel better, one of the ladies in our antenatal class is due next Friday and has nothing ready. No baby clothes, no bag packed, nothing. She says she is in denial!

fedupofrainydays · 21/08/2014 10:39

Ps. Asos over the bump leggings mega comfy too and only £8 each.

fedupofrainydays · 21/08/2014 10:48

taking she's either lying or just bonkers!

ohthegoats · 21/08/2014 11:34

I've just realised that I've not washed my hair since Monday - how lovely. As in, normally I have to wash it every day because it looks a right state, at the moment it seems pretty happy to behave and look good even through 3 baths and 2 swims. It must have got splashed, but definitely no shampoo has touched it.

LondonJen · 21/08/2014 11:46

Totally Fatpony but then I think what will I wear after we come home if I don't buy something bigger now. Even my yoga pants are straining at the hips and thighs the over bump panel keeps sliding down!

Are your asos leggings very thick Fedup? I don't imagine the weather will pick up again now.

Am really feeling it today (whinge alert.) Piles, carpal tunnel, dreadful ache in hips/bum/leg socket, huffing and puffing at slightest exertion. Might have to get the pile of baby outfits out to remind myself why I'm doing this!

LondonJen · 21/08/2014 11:48

Thanks for reminding me of a benefit of pregnancy goats my usual greaseball hair used to need washing every day but this year I can do it twice a week, it's awesome!

Me23 · 21/08/2014 12:01

Just realised I meant to say happy birthday to fedup for yesterday!

I can't believe how close we are getting to having our babies I was in denial for a long time but now it is real, I must get a move on this pay day and buy all the bits I need still.

I need a nap soon am wiped out. (Haven't actually done anything, just feeling ill)
