Sparkle me too. 5"2 petite frame bump all out front doesn't sound good for me.... If I lean back far and put elbows backwards to really pull shoulders back can just notice a point Sad no what happens??

Happy birthday fedup- I've only had two alcohol free birthdays as well, few weeks ago and 30th with a kidney infection. Hope your dh and ds? Spoil you.

Mrsb how are you? Hope Braxton hicks have eased

SweetPeaPods · 20/08/2014 06:41

Happy birthday fed up!

ohthegoats · 20/08/2014 07:29

I found out I was pregnant 3 days before my big 40th birthday weekend in London with lots of friends and family. Somehow no one noticed I wasn't drinking.

Happy birthday fedup.

queenasanti3 · 20/08/2014 07:47

Hi,
Had a busy few days dd just turned one, she is so active at the moment iam beginning to imagine how life is going to be in less than 7 weeks when our new arrival makes an appearance, that feeling of excitement and nervousness is coming back,.
Basically finish work on Thursday, have over a week off then go in for two very short weeks, hope everyone is still feeling well in the run up to due dates.

Kirstipops · 20/08/2014 08:10

Hope your Braxton Hicks are away now Mrsb!
Ahh, I didn't realise PGP and SPD were the same mum2b, for some reason I thought PGP was pain more round the back of the hips. My groin and inner thigh area are very grumpy this morning, hope they can hold out for my driving lesson. I salute you all who have had this for ages :(

Many happy returns fed up... I managed to have a boozy birthday ... Birthday was the friday, went out & drank a bottle of champagne on the saturday... Found out i was pregnant on the sunday .., poor baby had its first taste of champagne at about 4 weeks pregnant... I do feel guilty about that :(

mrsb87 · 20/08/2014 08:30

They seemed to have slowed down a bit over night so I'm seeing how I get on today. Bump and froo is very sore today though. I think I will hide in the office at work. No shop floor for me today!

Thanks for all the well wishes x

Happy Birthday Fedup!

MrsB I hope things calmed down xx

So I have a first time mum daft question. I have written on my baby shopping list 'nappies, cream, wipes'. Yet I have no idea what I mean by cream?! Just vaguely remember it from baby sitting days.

Do you always use a cream or just if baby has a rash? I have a couple of freebies one is 'barrier ointment' the other is 'Johnsons nappy cream' but the later makes my headspin it's so pwonky and I am feeling very precious about putting something like that on delicate newborn skin.

Do I need wipes for nappy change or is cotton wool and water better?

Other than the little pack for the hospital bag DP has requested taking on nappy shopping responsibilites so I need to be able to tell him exactly what to get or lord knows what he'll buy!

london, I don't use nappy cream every change unless DS has nappy rash. Metanium (yellow tube) is brilliant for bad teething nappy rash, Bepanthan I have found the best for if its just a little red as its breathable & moisturising. With both of these less is more & really make sure the skin is DRY before putting it on or it will hold in the moisture under the cream making the rash worse.
I am not a fan of sudocreme as I find it too thick & drying. I have heard brilliant things about burts bees baby creams as they are all natural & apparently work wonders although never tried them myself. There is my personal bum cream run down Grin

I never did the cotton wool thing as it just seemed so much faff Blush. We used Johnsons baby extra sensitive from the start with no problems, although if you want something really gentle you can get water wipes which are 99% water & 1% fruit extract and are supposed to be as good as cotton wool & water. The first few nappies are really gross black tar meconium, cotton wool just doesn't cut it IMO!

Morning ladies...struggling to keep up here!

Took kids to crystal palace park yesterday & I'm in serious agony in my lower back...could barely turn over in bed last night & struggled to get down the stairs! So I'm working from home today, sitting on my ball with the laptop hoping to roll out the pressure on my lower back! Don't fancy walking through lots of hospital wards & up several flights of stairs to get to my office, whilst humphing a heavy laptop bag! Did pregnancy yoga last night & that didn't cut it either...

Off back home to Glasgow for a few days tomorrow...my youngest keeps asking "is it Glasgow time yet mummy?" Grin. On the plus side, working from home today might let me get the kids clothes packed at least!

fedupofrainydays · 20/08/2014 09:51

Ah thanks ladies! Got a happy birthday wake up in the form of a head butt from ds!! Probably going to go to the beach today. My presents are a bit sad... But what I wanted - a handheld dyson and a steam mop/ Hoover thing. Anything to make life easier, particularly with our new extension. What have I turned into??? Might ask DH to get me something nice from duty free when he goes to Canada in two weeks. Got my eye on another long champ bag to replace mine that I've wrecked using as a nappy bag!

stigz don't worry about the drinking that early. Nothing crossed the placenta that early. With ds I went to a wedding at not quite 4 weeks (I have a short cycle) and drank so much - was voted most drunk Blush and did a preg test on the Monday as I was going to doctors about bad pains at random points in cycle and thought if I said we were trying she would want me to do a preg test so I did one to prove I wasn't... Then it was a bfp. Felt absolutely terrible. But doctor wasn't concerned when I told her about my antics that weekend. She did say, "as long as you didn't have about 5 bottles of champagne to yourself".... Well I probably did as we started drinking at 11 am at the hotel bar and I finished at 5 am drinking champagne cocktails, smoking and moaning with other girls how hard it was to get pregnant Blush not one of my proudest moments...

mrsb87 · 20/08/2014 09:53

Sorry guys, winge alert!

So after my manager knew I was getting these braxton hicks all day yesterday this is what I've come in to. The shop floor literally looks like a bomb has exploded. She had to do some moving around last night but clearly decided not to finish and go home at half 6 to leave It like this for me to finish this morning. I've got no extra staff who can come and help out and a tonne of delivery to get processed. All this and I'm still getting the braxton hicks which are making my tummy hurt now too.
Sat here just crying. I offered to help them out next Tuesday even though I'm meant to be finishing for mat leave on Friday. I'm now wondering whether I might just tell her to shove it.

London I only use cream if they have nappy rash. I used an organic one (think it was Neal's yard) at first, then switched to sudocrem or metanium when she was older - I thought they seemed a bit harsh for newborn skin. I was told to use cotton wool and water (midwife said wipes are bad for newborn skin) but I actually used Huggies pure wipes for poos straight away and dd's skin seemed fine. As Jelly said, cleaning meconium off with cotton wool is no fun!

Sparkle re the pointy bump, mine looks round normally, but if I try to use my stomach muscles (as if doing a sit up) the middle of the bump sticks out more than the sides so it looks pointy. It's because my stomach muscles have separated so they are pulling the bump in at the sides but not across the front. They never recovered after dd, maybe I should have had physio but my GP was rubbish and just suggested sit ups, which would just make it worse!

hefner · 20/08/2014 10:01

Happy birthday fedup!

Sorry to hear you're having such a rubbish day mrsb, it's awful that they have left you so much physical stuff to do. You've done well to even get in to work when you're still sore from braxton hicks. Try to take it easy and do the minimum possible.

magichandles · 20/08/2014 10:12

My bump is the same as hefner's - looks perfectly normal and round, but the middle starts to protrude if I try and sit up from a lying down on my back position - I only really notice it in the bath to be honest. I don't think my stomach muscles are ever going to be the same after 2, soon to be 3 children!

I've been really lucky - I've never had Braxton Hicks - sorry you are feeling so rubbish mrsb87

Happy Birthday FedUp

I'm doing ok - had a rubbish week with my GD all over the place, had a couple of hypos so I didn't really want to head out if I could avoid it and get stuck driving or being out and about with the DCs and then the rest of my levels were all over the shop as well. Doing better this week though, and I feel much better for it. Growth scan next week.

tak1ngchances · 20/08/2014 10:18

MrsB don't tell her shove it, but tell her you have had some pains in the last few days, aren't feeling great, and with that in mind will finish on Friday as previously planned & agreed. I believe it is illegal for her to ask you to stay.
Do NOT put other people's needs above your own now, sometimes we are all too nice and helpful for our own good. But it's not like she is helping you back, is it?

Happy birthday fedup!

STIGZ · 20/08/2014 10:27

Ah fedup ... Maybe your body secretly knew you where pregnant & wanted to get as much alcohol as possible before a 9 month ban (",)

mrsb thats awful what you have been left with... Especially after yesterday, you need to take it easy now & not stress, so just do what you can manage today and finish up when you planned to start maternity.., your manager obviously isnt thinking of your well being so i wouldnt do any extra hours ., you wont get any thanks .., just finish for maternity, get your feet up and relax before baby is here .,, forgot about about work and let your manager deal with what she's paid to do xxx

Missus2ndwife · 20/08/2014 10:50

Happy Birthday Fedup! Hope it's a good one.

I had a really emotional night last night and cried myself to sleep! Hubbie was worried and I just said I was feeling hormonal. Ho hum. x

BingoBango85 · 20/08/2014 11:05

Marvellous; I have boob leakage at 30 weeks Shock Is this not a bit soon? Lol

MundayCakes85 · 20/08/2014 11:11

Bingo I've been leaking at night and when I squeeze since about 24 weeks. Worst is when I roll
Over to DH and leak all over him Blush

BadgerInBury · 20/08/2014 11:13

ta1kingchances talks sense, mrsb. You need to think about yourself and the baby, and if you're sore and stressed then that's not good for you. Those extra days won't make a massive difference in terms of the business but could potentially have an impact on your health. You get to come first now!

BingoBango85 · 20/08/2014 11:24

I'm so naive! Perhaps the leaky boobs is connected to not being able to stop crying yesterday. O what will tomorrow have in store for me!?! Wink

mum2kiss · 20/08/2014 11:49

mrsb definitely don't push yourself to work next week if you're not up to it. If the load at work is too heavy for you to manage today, don't do it! Just do what you can and if you feel unwell call management and tell them you need to go home. I can guarantee that no one at fatface cares more about your health and your baby than you do so it's up to you to make sure you're both ok.

Hydrotherapy was relaxing although I couldnt walk faster than a snail when I came out! Will see how I feel later on. Dd is at a cookery class all morning so I should really be doing a bit of housework...
