We weren't sure about having two either but I have to say having one child made me desperate to have another. I just didn't realise quite how much I would love him. I find myself sitting and thinking about him at work with a soppy smile on my face. It is like being newly in love. They drive you mad and can be hard work but DH and I always say how J is the best thing to ever happen to us. Smile (Our age gap is meant to be 2 years and 2 days). I'm another one blithely assuming / blindly hoping this one will be a contented bouncer / sling occupant Grin

STIGZ · 18/08/2014 22:55

Aww cj that is so cute :) ... Pity you cant fit in it, your dp could carry you around in it for the next few weeks :)

YellowWellies · 18/08/2014 23:00

I've just batch cooked a shepherds pie, and a pasta puttanesca to fill the freezer for J post birth; painted a rocking chair; de-toyed the lounge (grunting on my hands and knees collecting fecking Thomas trains), done two loads of washing, cooked tea and done bedtime after a full days work. Why can't I have gin?!!!! Wink Should sleep tonight!

SweetPeaPods · 18/08/2014 23:15

Granny he was born in June last year.
Yellow do you fancy sharing that pasta recipe? I'm looking for inspiration for meals I can freeze for ds. So far I've thought of cottage pie & fish pie.

Well the midnight (well, half 1) snacking is upon me! Seems to be the only way to combat the heartburn. Tonight is a shortbread biscuit, yummy!

My mil has announced she will buy our new buggy. Hurrah!

Lying awake wondering a) where DH is and b) why hasn't ds come running in yet. Hmmmm. It's not my birthday til tomorrow so can't be a lie in treat!

WinterLover · 19/08/2014 08:00

Hi Ladies, I've been lurking from the November board. Hope you dont mind me posting.

Im 29 weeks today and due 4th Nov but went into labour with DS at 35 weeks and he was born at 36 weeks. The consultant has told me to be prepared for this one to be early too so it could well be an October Baby.

I have a DS who has just turned 3 and a DSD who will turn 9 when baby arrives.

Really suffering with Braxton Hicks (which worry me greatly) I cant seem to walk up the stairs without them starting!

Hope to get to know you all over the next few weeks

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 19/08/2014 08:01

Your LO looks perfect cj Smile

Thanks for all the comments re DH. I know he's not doing it on purpose, i wish he wasn't such an open book sometimes!

If this baby dislikes the sling i actually don't know what I'll do, we live on the 3rd. Floor, i really can't be doing with lugging a double buggy up the stairs!I am hoping that if its in the sling from the start it won't know any different Grin

There will be almost exactly 2 years between my babies, feeling alright about that but will no doubt change my mind lol!

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 19/08/2014 08:06

Welcome Winter*. Try not to worry about braxtons, my midwife told me they are more common in second pregnancies. Obviously if they start to actually hurt though give someone a call Smile

WinterLover · 19/08/2014 08:09

Thanks Jelly oh yes im under strick instructions from MW and consultant to ring labour ward if they get too painful. Think 2nd time round isnt helped by having a toddler to chase either!

MundayCakes85 · 19/08/2014 08:45

Hi Winter nice to have newcomers on here.
I'm aching from the ribs downwards today Sad. Had to do the food shopping and sorting after work yesterday and think I did too much bending/ lifting. Roll
On 5th Sept and my last day at work!

BingoBango85 · 19/08/2014 09:02

Are any of you ladies thinking of using cloth rather than disposable nappies or used previously?

weeonion · 19/08/2014 09:31

Morning folks! we have some sun here in Glasgow but it feels so autumnal already?

Bingobango - i used cloth last time and will again this time. i intend to use disposables for the first month or so. I have them folded and some all set with liners and wraps ready to go.

30 +3 here - no braxton hicks at all as yet. i was having them by this stage with DD. This pg is so diff in many ways - it is hard t compare anything really!

ohthegoats · 19/08/2014 09:47

I'm going to do disposable until I get into the groove a bit

STIGZ · 19/08/2014 10:00

Hi winter im getting lots of braxton hicks aswell, i did my first pregnancy aswell, i ended up phoning midwife on sunday nite because i had a couple in an hour that whereva bit more painful than normal ... She wasnt concerned as i was only getting a couple every hour or so but said to keep an eye on the frequency of them.., it made me feel so much better just getting that reassurence .., so deffo give them a call even just to put your mind at ease xx

binkybunny · 19/08/2014 10:09

Hi Bingo, just talked about this on another thread, yes I am but waiting to trial them from the Nappy Lady once the baby arrives. I have disposables to start with, an all-in-one Bambino Mio and some Terry towel ones we got as a back up in case we run out. Don't think I can be bothered with the faff of terry towels ones though TBH.

BingoBango85 · 19/08/2014 10:13

I bought a birth to potty totsbots package, but I have disposables for the first month or so as the totsbots are from 8lb & from what I've read don't really fit until baby is a few months old. Wondered if I needed to buy more clothes 'cut for cloth' or whether the bits & bobs I've got plus presents will fit over them? Guess till little ones here & I can experiment it's hard to tell

MrsDinoRawr · 19/08/2014 10:23

I don't think I have had any BH yet. What do they feel like? Do they hurt?

I do have a pointy tummy when I sit up off the sofa - I read that this means my stomach muscles have separated... joy! Anyone else got this?

littlewilliam · 19/08/2014 10:26

Sorry to change the subject but just wondered if anyone else was an emotional wreck? I am 32.4weeks and am so tired, I think I have a cold and sinus rearing its head which isn't helping but just want to curl up and cry :( Everything feels like so much effort at the moment. fingers crossed its just heightened because I am feeling under the weather. Mat leave starts 19th Sept...feels like ages away!

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 19/08/2014 10:31

Bingo I used cloth last time during the daytime and disposables at night and intend to do the same again this time. I think it's all about getting into a laundry routine, then it doesn't seem like any more work. Someone linked to reusable wipes on the fb page and I'd like to get some of those too. Oh, and I found pure wool breast pads fantastic, so need to order a couple of pairs of those.

JellyBeans it seems unlikely that a baby would object to being in a sling if they're in it regularly from birth, doesn't it? I'm counting on mine being happy with it too.

MrsBadCrumble I had an elcs last time as DD was breech. I found it far more straightforward than I expected. DD aspirated some amniotic fluid on the way out so was rushed out of the theatre and I didn't get to hold her until an hour or so later, but despite that I had no difficulties breastfeeding (milk came in on the third day, dd clearly knew what to do). Recovery-wise, I didn't get out of bed until 36 hours later because I got very dizzy when I tried, but once I was up it was amazing how fast my strength came back. If you have any other specific questions, just ask Smile.

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 19/08/2014 10:39

Bingo only a few things I got didn't fit over cloth nappies - maybe three pairs of trousers. Don't think you'll have problems with babygros or other newborn stuff.

BadgerInBury · 19/08/2014 10:39

littlewilliam Most definitely - I once cried in the supermarket because I was eating a bread roll and it was nice. I also cried on Saturday because I realised that I wasn't just pregnant but was also going to have a baby that I would then need to KEEP ALIVE. Nothing for it when those days strike - run yourself a bath, go to sleep for a bid, and remind yourself you won't feel the same way tomorrow. Chin up, chuck - nearly there now!

littlewilliam · 19/08/2014 10:43

BadgerInBury I think you are right, I am going to go have a nice bath when I get home and get the duvet on sofa and just feel sorry for myself. Tomorrow will be a better day! Final stretch...we can do this!! :)

Shirehobbit · 19/08/2014 11:06

littlewilliam - I had a 24hr stretch last week where I just couldn't stop crying. So exhausting. It soon passed off, though. Hope you feel better soon, too.

ExcitedCJ · 19/08/2014 11:23

Oh girls.. I'm struggling today! Last day at work before holiday & I'm ready to sleep at my desk. I have spent the last hour putting off a really easy piece of work. No motivaton today at all.
I start Mat leave on 18th Sept & the 2 1/2 weeks after my holiday are going to need some endurance.
