If we were to have a second I'd want it close to the first one. I just don't want to have a baby after 35, no particular reason just personal preference so we would have to get to it by next October and have a 1 year old and be pregnant.

I'm just going to see how we feel when we have the first one. I have quite a few friends that just never got the urge to have a second child after the first one and are quite happy. They're kids are lovely and are kept busy with lots of groups, friends and relatives.

At the same time... I just wonder if I'd have been bored without my little sis to argue and fight play with?

Shirehobbit · 18/08/2014 15:45

I have masses of respect for those who have larger gaps; getting out of nappies, having children who can feed themselves, are in a routine and sleep etc and then doing it all again!

STIGZ · 18/08/2014 15:50

jelly my OH is more anxious/worried this time, he finds it hard to be excited as my dd was never happy & cried alot mostly due to reflux, he just cant handle the sound of a crying baby and found this stressful as she just never seemed happy, she is only just recently moved into her own bed ( she is 4) so sleepness nights for a long long have also scarred him for life !! ... I just reassure him that we can cope as we have done it before!!! .. I know once she is here he fall madly deeply in love with her and she will absolutly adore him like her sister does .., as he really is a wonderful dad.

mum2kiss · 18/08/2014 16:40

My dp is concerned about sleep deprivation too...he's also not really interested/excited by kicks anymore. If baby is having a party in there he barely looks up from his phone to see...my Dd also told me it was boring so maybe it's just exciting for me!!!

Honestly I think he just wants the baby here now...It probably hasn't helped that I've had pgp for so long and every day is a whingefest of me complaining about all my aches and pains!

There will be a 6 year age gap between Dd and this baby. I always knew I couldnt cope with 2 babies. It's still very tiring though with school runs and extra curricular activities!

not sure it was that gave the heads up about m&s but I picked up a thin dressing gown today so thanks :)

Grannyapple · 18/08/2014 16:55

Hi ladies...yes I have a small age gap with DD & now this next one...15 months...eek! We've had lots of "is there no tv in your house?!" type comments. Family are really pleased tho I was in shock when I found out I was expecting DC3...DD was only 5.5months when I found out! But the age gap between DS & DD ins 2.5yrs which had worked out quite well...now she's 1, they're really cute together & she dotes on him! I keep telling myself that I'll have 2 more years of pain/sleeplessness & then I'll be fine!

But yes, totally sympathise being preggo with toddlers/other kids in tow...DD isn't walking yet so is a bit of a mission carrying her everywhere & DS still needs help with potty etc. DH was more helpful last time I was preggo but I think he us as shattered as me looking after the kids!

I had DS just before I turned 35, DD at 37 & now DS2 at 38...defo feeling it more this time round!

LondonJen · 18/08/2014 16:56

Mmmm crisps. I'm on the McCoys.

Sorry Jelly that sucks. Not in the same situation but my dp calls a spade a spade and sometimes I just wish he could even just nod and do an interested noise. Like when I had my first 'tightening' last week so looked up Braxtons and then showed him the book. He said "I'm not interested in that". My lip did wobble! 5 minutes later he said "I'm sorry I'm not interested in Braxton Hicks" all genuinely apologetic. Don't be sorry just read the tiny paragraph and say 'oh, yes, I see' !!

My tiny little pile which didn't hurt or bother me at all has either grown or been joined by more and feels SO uncomfortable. Not happy.

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 18/08/2014 16:59

Yellow I think the inversion is just supposed to stretch the uterus to give the baby more space to turn in. It may of course also stretch muscles like the psoai (which run from the ribcage to the pelvis) or others where you might be holding tension and which might be reducing the space available for the baby.

STIGZ I can relate to that feeling of guilty aargh when your child wants something. DD has gone back to kindergarten today. I feel bad that I've enjoyed having time properly to myself again quite so much, but being able to sit down to concentrate on something without being interrupted by "Mummeeeeeee, where are you/I want to play with someone/what can I eat" is fab.

I feel worse thinking about how much more grumpy I'll be when sleep-deprived, though. I hope the family will help me by prioritizing DD and letting me concentrate on the baby. DH will automatically, I think, but as generous as MIL is with her time, she lacks any common sense and whether she will be able to drag herself away from cooing over the new baby to focus on DD is anyone's guess. I shouldn't complain, though, having lots of supportive people around who all just want to help is hardly a problem!

If anyone is still looking for a thin dark coloured dressing gown I saw one in Sainsburys today - dark purple stripes - I'm sure there are others, I got a grey one, very soft but cotton thin.

Grannyapple · 18/08/2014 17:07

Ugh...anyone else having major hot flushes?!?!

binkybunny · 18/08/2014 18:23

Just home from work and feeling miserable and fed up. I'm soooo tired! Had originally planned to finish up this Wednesday for mat leave as on hols until next Thurs but decided I'd rather have the extra weeks pay when I get back. I'm so regretting it now as struggling to make it in in the morning, then feeling sleepy driving home. I also can't be arsed doing any actual work while there as it is still quite a stressful time but I don't have the energy to stress.

On the bright side have 7 working days left and enjoyed an hours shopping in Boots at lunch time buying a few more hospital bag bits.

Just nursing bra, nightie, slippers and dressing gown to get now Smile.

binkybunny · 18/08/2014 18:25

grannyapple mainly my hands and feet, although I have to admit to using some breast pad under my arms last week when going into a meeting and I had a hot moment. I was wearing a top that particularly enhanced sweaty patches Blush. Worked a treat though!

Missus2ndwife · 18/08/2014 19:07

Granny apple - I had one whilst eating lunch yesterday!! I've never experienced it before and was completely surprised by the sudden heat. So pregnant, old, with heartburn and now hot flushes... Whatever next? Lol

SweetPeaPods · 18/08/2014 19:27

Grannyapple we will have a 16m gap so very similar.
We have also had the no TV comment!!

Shirehobbit · 18/08/2014 19:33

I'm glad there's a few of us that will have them close together - certainly feel like a rarity in real life!

Captainmcgraw · 18/08/2014 19:49

Jelly that sounds like me - I'm so naively optimistic that this one will just be a content, sling loving, smiley baby who loves sleeping despite the fact that my DD was a far cry from that and I really didn't enjoy a lot of the little baby time.

Feel crappy today. 34 weeks tomorrow and feel like I'm getting morning sickness back. Sickness feeling and back cramps and upset tummy. 4 weeks left at work and I just feel exhausted - I'm utterly useless there as well, was honestly thinking today that my empty chair would have been about as productive as I was!

Happytimes31 · 18/08/2014 20:05

Really sore SI joint and SPD today Sad not looking forward to commute tmw! On plus side furniture done and looking lovely Smile.

STIGZ · 18/08/2014 20:16

mum im totally with you about leaving an a bit of an age gap .. My dd will be 4 n half when dd2 is here, ... My stress levels couldnt have managed two under two!! So i really do respect how other people manage when they have a small age gap!!

A parent in the nursery where i work had a wee boy of three then fell pregnant with twin boys then the year after fell pregnant with twin girls so she had 5 under 5 !! .,, i am in total aweof her as she works part time and still manages the playgroup:nursery:school runs ... when i was moaning to my collegues about sleepness nights etc she would walk in and it would give me a kick up the backside and remind me to shut the F up :)

Shirehobbit · 18/08/2014 20:23

Five under five?! Shock

binkybunny · 18/08/2014 20:26

OMG five under five Shock

Its the fear that next time it could be twins that is also making me think Hmm

SweetPeaPods · 18/08/2014 21:22

Never mind 5 under 5..... I'm struggling to comprehend having 2, never mind 5!!!

MrsDinoRawr · 18/08/2014 21:27

Hot flushes... yep!! I went shopping for the last of my hospital bag bits today and was melting in the Primark queue. I can't remember if it was on here, the FB group or somewhere else online but I read that if you are pregnant you do not have to queue in Primark. Well I can clarify that is not true in Birmingham! This is what I have in my bag so far... hospital bag list link I have a separate one for baby clothes and stuff I will need if I stay in. Do you think I have everything? Or have I missed anything major?

I think you are all brave having children close together. I agree there are pros and cons with any ages gap. I hope after giving birth I still want a second child!!

Grannyapple · 18/08/2014 21:33

Wow 5 under 5...I'm worried about 3 under 4!! Mind you we were lucky this pregnancy wasn't twins (mum was a twin)...if so, we were planning on moving back home to Scotland!

Yup those hot flushes just suddenly come on...it was cooler today but those flushes coming on, you'd never have guessed!!

Ooh think I had a colostrum leak on my right nipple today...was wearing a cream chiffon top in work today too...thankfully I didn't speak to too many people in work today...
sweetpea was your LO born in July last year then? Thought unrecognised your name from a thread last year?

MrsBadCrumble74 · 18/08/2014 22:21

34+1 today and really feeling tired. Had a scan today to check on my low lying posterior placenta and it hasn't moved at all - still abutting the cervix. My poor little chap is in such a great position but as it stands will not be able to get out via the standard exit so a sun roof delivery is looking very very likely at 39 weeks. My consultant put placenta previa in bold red in my notes which scared me a little although he seemed pretty chilled about the whole thing. I will have another scan in 2 weeks to make a final decision. Has anyone had an elective CS on here or any experience of placenta previa?
Hope everyone is doing well :)

ExcitedCJ · 18/08/2014 22:25

Dino great blog & very comprehensive sounding shopping hospital bag list. I must bring a cup with straw, good suggestion!

ExcitedCJ · 18/08/2014 22:49

Thought the carrier fans would like to see my new Boba in use today... I hope my LO is as comfy!
