oh my God, what has happened to my feet??
I used to have nice feet, slender and well shaped, about the only bit of my body I was perfectly happy with. Now I SWEAR they have changed shape since I last saw them. I took the girls swimming toiday and when I looked down at them they looked like hobbit feet but without the hair .
What's happened?? I look I've got bunions and my toes have spread out. I know my feet get bigger and fatter with each preg, but this is ridiculous ALREADY. God what else is going to happen?

Glad you've decided to stay Kiwi

Good luck with the check up tomorrow Leo, will they give you another scan?

divastrop · 21/09/2006 19:56

sassilils-i dont feel guilty about ds2 going to nursery and i dont really miss him anymore i just got upset this morning cos i was trying to play with him but was too tired.

rosy-i dont really think of high bp as being dangerous,i try to put that out of my mind, which is probably stupid but i would only worry too much and make my bp worse

i am still spotty and now i am also swollen,in my fingers and thighs and feet.i feel like im about to come on my period but i know thats not going to happen!

onilly · 21/09/2006 20:52

hi all

DollyP - sorry to hear that. Hope you are ok.

Midwife appointment was not really a great one - DH came along and we both agreed we did'nt gain a whole lot from the session. She has advised that I am probably too late for a triple screening as I have to send off for one ?? and pay for it ?? She was very opinionated about the Nuchal Fold test being the be all and end all of tests and frowned upon me digging any further, and didnt hold back her view of Amnio either.... interesting.... she basically started to judge me on what I might do should we find out adverse results. I have to admit, not to be controversial but as expert as she is, surely she should be neutral on the subject ?
It was bizarre - we didnt get any subjective advice whatsoever!

Have to say - my skin has never looked better on its new diet of mega progesterone. This is the one great benefit for me. My "period hormonal" skin cleared up overnight, it literally was the first thing I noticed about being PG. Fab.

Just to close the subject now !! Have also discovered, the healthier I eat, the gassier and smellier my farts are... this one is for you Fatfox - the more fruit and veg I have the gassier it all gets. That cant be right !!! If ever there was a reason to eat chocolate!

eidsvold · 22/09/2006 03:27

dollyp - sorry to hear about your dad - hope it all works out although it does sound positive.....

Kiwibelle - I am an aussie. Was living in the UK for four years but came back ( with dh and dd1) Jun 04.

eidsvold · 22/09/2006 03:30

onilly - intersting midwife appt - did she tell you that nuchal fold screening alone is only approx 75% accurate - tie it in with blood test - up to 85% accurate and really not the be and end all of testing. I would have love her to be my midwife - she would not have known what hit her ( sorry antenatal testing is a bit of a hobby for me!)

A friend of mine is doing her doctorate on this sort of topic - regarding whether woman do give true 'informed' consent when consenting to antenatal tests - and the information that the medical profession provide them with. Some of things she has related that medical professionals have 'shared' with parents is gob smacking!!

onilly · 22/09/2006 09:36

Eids - thanks, thats my understanding too - I'd already researched it, and was going to have my triple screen analysed along with Nuchal Fold (sent to a private clinic) to get roughly 80% accurate reading. I apparantly now have to send off for the triple blood test, make an appointment for someone to draw the blood and then send it back to the lab for results.... oh and pay £100 for it! Never mind I am a higher rate tax payer and havent used the NHS for anything ever - I have private health care at work.... sorry, dont want to sound like a bitter old bag - but honestly! Fine - ok I will pay for it - but to get such a load of crap advice along with the lack of services does'nt help!

I think I will have to go private on this one. Which winds me up. Sorry to moan everyone. I'll get over myself in a moment.

Frankly, I dont know what we'll do with adverse results. But DH and I both have this personality trait, to research the hell out of everything and understand our options! Call it control freakinism...

Rosylily · 22/09/2006 09:57

oops sorry Diva don't want to put your blood pressure up! I guess its only dangerous if its left unchecked which is why its always a big deal to mw's.
I'm surprised my blood pressure wasn't up because yesterday I was screaming 'you stupid cow' at a car that had splashed me by driving through a puddle. And I was wearing my brand new pale pink maternity trousers and cream top.
Kittywits I always admire peoples pretty feet. I'm permanently in the hobbit category!
I hope your pretty feet come back one day, I'm sure they will!
We had no electricity all night because of the tail end of hurricane gordon. Amazingly I found candles and matches in my tip. But the kids kept waking with the sound of the wind and I'm sleep deprived today.

divastrop · 22/09/2006 11:18

morning!

rosy,i think alot of us were in that mood yesterday.every time i spoke to dp or the kids i sounded like i was having a go at them.even stuff i typed yesterday sounds narky

im getting paranoid now cos although im sure i felt the baby move last week i havent felt anything since sunday.logic would tell me that either it was wind i felt or it was the baby and i just havent noticed it due to being busy this week.but im starting to wonder if theres really a baby in there after all.
i dont see my m/w till next friday.does anybody know when they do start listening to the heartbeat now?

hope everyone has a good day

15+2

SassiLils · 22/09/2006 11:26

Morning

Maybe it's the FullMoon that is affecting Everyones's mood?? That is what we have out it down to at work. We have had a week of nasty customers!

I had my midwife appointment last week at 16+5 and she listened to the Heart beat then, but I'm not sure if this is standard or not?

Have a good day and an even better weekend! Yippeeee it's Friday

leogaela · 22/09/2006 12:15

is it full moon? ds slept really badly last night (had me out of bed endless times), and often does when its full moon.

Lol about your troll feet Kitty - sorry not giving much sympathy am i!

Divastrop - you may have felt the baby move, I feel mine move sometimes but only when they kick on certain places, then I don't feel anything for ages, but I am not convinced its the babies I am feeling, it will probably take some time before oyu feel regular movements.

I had a check up today and also feel pee-d off like you onilly. I had another scan and wanted the doct to do all the measurements and stuff to give me an idea if everything looks OK. his scanner is so poor quality that its not really possible to see much at all , I asked before if he would send me to hospital for a scan where they have better equipment but he seems to be possessive of his patients and reluctant. I want to know if something is wrong (alhtough not sure what i we would do either) so have booked an amnioc. for 10 days time. I've got until hten to think about it and decide if its really what I want to do. Triple test with twins is meaningless.

The only thing he did confirm is that the twins seem to be growing at the same rate , are almost definitely identical, i am healthy and my uterus is the size it would be at 24 weeks with a single baby , that's a bit frightening!

Think I should have changed my doctor, but I was clueless before and thought he was ok, actually I still think he is a very good, very experienced doctor.

Onilly, surely if you call the private clinic they would get you in on time for triple test?

Home alone now, ds is in nursery, so I'm off to bed!

Twins, 15 + 3.

Don't come to my house cazboldy, apples are one of the only things I can eat! Have to be chooped up though, as biting in to one makes me gag. Don't you just love being pregnant?????

anniediv · 22/09/2006 12:31

chopped, even!! Blame the full moon

divastrop · 22/09/2006 13:43

thaks sass and leo,i know its normal not to feel the baby move every day,but it doesnt stop the worrying.i was the same in my last pg,i dont think i settled down till 28 weeks when i got kicked in the ribs every day without fail

im surprised how different ante-natal care is in different parts of the country.its all simple and straightforward here, the m/w clearly explains everything like tests, scans etc at the booking appt at 10 weeks, and the hospital are very good at getting appointment letters sent out.
i lived in a different area in my first pg,and i never had a clue what was going on from start to finish, nobody told me anything,i didnt even know i had choices when it came to testing etc

onilly,it sounds like ur doing the right thing and trying to find out everything you can for yourself so they cant fob u off!

fatfox · 22/09/2006 13:52

Annie/Caz - I have a bit of a craving for crunchy apples at the moment

Kitty - you're right I can't keep away. I had serious withdrawal symptoms yesterday when I couldn't access a PC - have you been on the new smacking thread yet?

Kiwibella - are you part Italian - "bella"? I'm in the same boat as you re EDDs, mine vary between 26 Feb and 3 March, but much prefer this thread.

Eids sorry to hear about your FIL, that's really sad
DollyP - you poor thing, you must be worried about your Dad. The outlooks seems to look pretty good though doesn't it?

Onilly - hey you - I'm a red head . Actually I got bullied when I was 5, but so did other children who had glasses, buck teeth, ecsma or anything else which made them different. TBH red hair is much more fashionable nowadays than it was when I was young, so don't think its an issue for children. Also, we're a much more tolerant and multi-cultural society, so there is a much wider range of different looking children in schools andyway I'm kind of hoping this one might have red hair

Leo - I love you, you fan of red heads
TBH I think nurseries are great for children once hey get to about two. I would have had a lot more confidence at school if I'd been to nursery - they really do teach social confidence, so hang on in there with DS - once he settles he'll love it and will form his own gang of friends.

Sassilils - what do you do for a living - do you work in retail, or for a council?

Diva - I'm so glad you said that - my baby moved a lot between 14-15 weeks and I haven't felt it for 10 days now - I guess they're still tiny and have just moved position so we can't feel them again until they either grow or move again.

Onilly - your MW sound s a complete pain - I went to the Fetal Medicine Centre for all my tests as they're much more cutting edge than the NHS and just know so much more - they make Queen Charlotte's look positively amateurish TBH.

pennygaff · 22/09/2006 14:21

Hi everyone, sorry to read sad news for some.
Glad to hear about all those lovely scans and mini kicks, Keep it up baby bumps!
Although saying that mine hardly moves, Had to have 4 trys at a scan because it refused to move move a muscle, had to have a break and a coffee from hospital shop in the end, and it raised both arms and kicked me in thanks.

anniediv · 22/09/2006 14:22

Just been reading through the posts and plucked up the courage to make a MW appointment. The first one available is 25th October!!! Glad I'm not a first timer

SassiLils · 22/09/2006 14:22

Hi Fatfox,

before I begin I feel that I should tell you that I LOVE redhair! It's fab, although have to admit it is far more attractive on females than males.

I work for the council. Do you too? I have noticed before you mentioned a meeting with housing officers and anti social behaviour etc.

I wasn't sure about movement last week, but this week it feels more definate, but more of a little pain that a flutter. Bit weird but can't remember from last time so not sure if it's normal or not?? I find the whole pregnancy thing a huge worry and time of uncertainty. I had blood test last week which I understood to be for downs?? I have to call next week for the results. I have a scan booked at 21 weeks but they have called this a detailed scan and there is no mention of nuchal folds anywhere. Will they check for this sort of thing anyway?

pennygaff · 22/09/2006 14:24

14+1 today, when does this second trimester glow happen again?
OH OH I really want to ask if anyone has reached up a little bit of blood before? I was a bit scared after it happened this morning, what's that all about?

SassiLils · 22/09/2006 14:24

Good luck anniediv. It does seem like a long wait though. Are they aware of how far along you are?

anniediv · 22/09/2006 14:25

Pennygaff, I have done this before when I had hyperemesis. GP said can happen as you sometimes 'strain' your throat so hard while heaving. Sorry TMI. Mention to MW if you're worried.

fatfox · 22/09/2006 14:25

Sassi - I work for a housing association - so have similar shouting type customers. We give them fab houses at cheap rent and all they want to do is shout at us

The cut off for a nuchal is 13+6, so they'll give you an anomoly scan

anniediv · 22/09/2006 14:26

Sassilils, yes they know how far along. I just find it hard to believe that there are that many pregnant women at one GP practice (MW only attached to the one practice)!! Oh well, like I said it's not like I've not done it before......

SassiLils · 22/09/2006 14:29

Fatfox, yeah same here, they seem to blame the council for all of their problems. and being front line we get the most abuse. hey ho, suppose that's what we're paid for.

My next scan must be anomoly scan then. I'm hoping to find out the sex

SassiLils · 22/09/2006 14:31

anniediv, I can't believe that either! Quite shocking that you should have to wait so long. I know that you aren't a first timer but you still deserve the same care and attention IMO. Just because you have done it before, doesn't stop you worrying about stuff. I had a long wait for mine (not as long as you mind) and they eventually, after many phone calls, did me a home visit.
