Read the AIMS booklet "am I allowed? " is fantastic and actually gives you both sides of the story. Like, for example, the risks of rupture associated with induction which women are rarely informed of even though they're higher than with VBAC

Hi all,

Had my booking in appt this morning with mw who was so lovely!

I will need to be seen every 3 weeks due to hospital admission which highlighted risk of diabetes (just what I need!) plus usual risk factors such as age (I'm 40), family history of high bp and diabetes (my bp is currently v low). Any apart from that all is OK. Not feeling sick at the moment and mW said enjoy it as reduced ms or no ms is no indicator of mc at all (on!y severe pain and bleeding) so don't worry ladies if you have a day where you have no ms, just enjoy the relief!!

Hope everyone is having a good day Smile

HollyBen · 13/08/2014 13:17

Thanks eatscake I will take a look at that

Glad to hear I am not the only 'oldie' durham

muchostinky · 13/08/2014 13:22

Ahhh, that pillow looks fab - might have to brave a visit to Kiddicare to see if they have any!

I had my booking in appointment last week and they confirmed (as I already knew) that I was old and fat and would need looking at more closely during this pregnancy. It was my plan to lose some weight before getting pregnant, but my body thought different - so what can I do about that?! Really need to try and watch what I am eating though as I don't want to put too much on, my DS was 9lb 12oz and I would rather a smaller one this time!

Had my bloods done on Monday, took off the tape and cotton wool and tape off yesterday and that hurt more that the actual blood test. It is crazy!

My scan isn't until the 12th of September, seems so long away. You all who have your scans soon are very lucky!

With regard to the finding out the sex or not debate I think we are going to. It will help us know whether we can keep and use all of DS's old clothes and bits (only from 12 months onwards anyway as I sold all of his little stuff) or whether I need to sell them to get some bits for a girl. My Mum has categorically said that she doesn't want to know the sex though, so that means we can't tell DS either as he is only 7 and will be guaranteed to blurt it out!

Sorry for the essay! Blush

DurhamRed · 13/08/2014 13:26

You're definitely not the only oldie here Holly Smile

PickledPorcupine · 13/08/2014 13:31

I've got into bed for a pillow test drive and I am never moving ever again!

Lifeisabeach · 13/08/2014 13:33

The bounty thing is a "Pregnancy information folder" and in mine is a magazine type thing called You and Your Pregnancy, some money-off vouchers, the pregnacare tablets, and some decaf PG tips! It says you have to join the bounty club online and then you can pick up the mum-to-be pack, followed by the newborn pack and the family pack.

coastergirl · 13/08/2014 13:36

muchostinky that made me giggle so much about being old and fat. I'm probably not considered old but I am fat! I know they are going to comment about my weight when I go, but like you, I intended to lose weight first but body had other ideas. Husband is convinced he has super-sperm and it seems I ovulate whenever my body fancies it! It's mad that when I was born 30 years ago, my Mum (who was 30) was considered a really old Mum and monitored loads.

Has anyone got the free packs that you get vouchers for through Emma's Diary? I got hub to print out the vouchers at work for me and I'm about to go and get them, although it seems he's printed them wrong and I only have the bump to baby one. I'm dying to know what's in the others!

pinkandstripey · 13/08/2014 13:42

foscar that makes sense! :)

Bounty gives me the rage, I got my Bounty pack at 1st scan last time. I'll be refusing it this time.

muchostinky · 13/08/2014 13:58

Ahhh pickled I definitely want the pillow now!

ELA88 · 13/08/2014 15:24

Has anyone else's ms just completely disappeared? I woke up on Monday morning (8weeks) feeling normal for once and the ms or all day sickness as it was for the weeks before, has completely gone? I said to DH earlier I almost want to poas just to check I am actually still pregnant?! My boobs are still incredibly painful though! Xx

DurhamRed · 13/08/2014 15:54

ELA88 My ms has disappeared today, mw at booking in appt today said to enjoy the relief as it does not mean anything is wrong.

I think for me the iv fluids and anti sickness meds while on hospital have helped stabilise my sickness so I can eat and drink, so I think that's helped my ms. Going to enjoy it while it lasts!!

Still have sore boobs and feeling oh so tired!

coastergirl · 13/08/2014 15:57

Argh ffs I'm sat here crying buckets at Glee. The cat thinks I've lost the plot. So do I.

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 13/08/2014 15:59

Just got back from my GP appointment as he had to refer me to the midwife Hmm

He looked about 12 & was drinking Vimto Grin.
anyway I have been given folic acid and my bp is fine , told to go back if the sickness gets any worse I'm to go back.

I asked when I would hear from the midwife and he said it will be at least 3 weeks as they are busy , I'm already 9+3 so it will be nearing mid to end of September before I get my scan so I'll be 14/15 weeks which doesn't seem right at all Sad

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 13/08/2014 16:01

I really need to start proof reading Blush

madasacatter · 13/08/2014 16:29

Panda that does seem a long way away. Could you call the midwife unit/surgery and pester them so they know about how far along you are?

pink what's wrong with Bounty?

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 13/08/2014 16:46

I'm not sure how to contact the local midwife unit , my GPs receptionist isn't the most helpful tbh

lotsoftoast · 13/08/2014 16:58

Google mumsnet and bounty. Then you will see what's wrong with Bounty.....evil company

lotsoftoast · 13/08/2014 17:01

holly you don't HAVE to be induced. Your placenta doesn't automatically become crap just because your 40. Imagine if you gave birth at 39 and 364 days old - you'd be 'eligible' for mlu. Then one day later you aren't? There is a teeny tiny increase in risk of pregnancy at age 40 and beyond - you have to weigh up the risk of that vs the v real risks of induction etc

lotsoftoast · 13/08/2014 17:02

*you're 40

HollyBen · 13/08/2014 17:10

Accordong the list I was given today mypanda the dating scan should be done between 11 and 14 weeks. So worth following up

pinkandstripey · 13/08/2014 17:16

Bounty are a revolting excuse for a company.

www.mumsnet.com/campaigns/bounty-reps-campaign-index

(And the packs are full of crap!!)

MyPandaisasecretmonster · 13/08/2014 17:27

Thanks Holly I think I'll chase it up tomorrow & hope they don't think I'm a loon

m33r · 13/08/2014 17:54
