OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Happytimes31 · 12/08/2014 15:59

me or someone medical or anyone...probably a silly worry but I have just caught my bump on a door handle and it has left a red mark, doesn't hurt now though but was a bit of a bump. I am rhesus neg, do I need anti D? Had my jab as usual at 28 wks (now 31). Am assuming too minor to worry but....

Me23 · 12/08/2014 16:02

Yes shaking and shivering in utero is quite normal my little one does it a lot.

Had mw appt measuring fine though 2 weeks ahead thought I was.

Have to go to day assessment tomorrow for rpt bloods to see if iron is working I still feel awful and I'm symptomatic so doubt it. I had planned to spend the day with OH getting baby and maternity stuff but this is more important obviously.

JustGotMyBabyOnBoardBadge · 12/08/2014 16:03

Can't help you happy but I hope someone will let you know soon as i am bound to do the same fairly shortly...clumsy when NOT pregnant so over cautious now!!

Me23 · 12/08/2014 16:05

happy I very much doubt that would have caused any sensitising event plus the dose of anti d will still be in your system however hospitals have different guidelines so I would call yours up to make sure.

Happytimes31 · 12/08/2014 16:16

Thanks very much me will call them but feel reassured at least Smile

tothesea27 · 12/08/2014 16:16

I have the shaking/shivering thing, too, and vaguely remembered reading it was normal but sometimes got a bit worried over it so I'm glad someone else asked about it! I sometimes second-guess myself a bit, too, at appointments when they ask how the baby is moving, and I always say he moves plenty because that's how it seems to me, but still, this is my first baby, what do I know? But I've also grown so used to kicks and rolls and elbows that I don't even fully notice them all anymore, and sometimes my husband will have his hand on my stomach and he will jump as the baby does some strong movement that I've barely noticed.

I was at a party last night and some people I don't know showed up with their 4 day old son. He was born at 37 weeks and only weighed 5lbs and he was ridiculously tiny. It was a bit terrifying, actually, thinking that my baby is only like a pound or so smaller. He was very sweet and slept the whole time, though, and my husband and I talked about how impressed we were that they were out and about 4 days after giving birth. One of my friends at the party is Korean and we talked about how for her, mothers aren't expected to leave the house at all for the first 21 days, and everyone else comes to you. Sounds sort of nice in a way, but I think I need to leave the house more often than that or I'd go a little crazy.

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 12/08/2014 16:33

Rant Altert: I've had it pretty easy as pregnancies go but am all of a sudden feeling VERY pregnant! I feel like I no longer look like a serene pregnant lady with a lovely bump, I think people now see me and think "christ, that's a big belly"! Starting to waddle now too which is SO not attractive, I managed to get to about 39 weeks last time before I waddled and am not impressed Angry. I have just realised I am down to single digits now and that is pretty terrifying. I am surrounded by teeny tiny baby clothes atm that just look too small to have ever housed DS, can't quite get my head around the fact that they will be full again soon.

I know there are ladies on here having a lot more to deal with than me but I am feeling very sorry for myself this afternoon Sad

HopefulHamster · 12/08/2014 16:38

Tak1ng - I had a 32 week scan today too for my little girl, also bang on with dates/weight :). Also having a c-section - my placenta had actually moved up but after a bad experience last time I wanted an elective. A very tough decision but I think it's the right one for me and at least I can prepare. Good luck with yours!

pusscous · 12/08/2014 16:45

Just wanted to say thank you for all the lovely messages on the weekend. Was discharged after four hours. Bump still aches, especially hard to move from sitting to standing. We think might be bruising from seatbelt but had no comment from staff on that. We have both felt very tired, emotionally and physically since Saturday. And also feeling it would be so much easier to deal with back home, the only support we have here is each other.

mum2kiss · 12/08/2014 17:29

Glad you're heading home puss. I can imagine you'll be sore for a while.

jelly go ahead and rant! I've been waddling a feeling heavily pregnant for ages. Don't remember that before 35 weeks with Dd! I've put everything down to me being too old lol!

I had a physio appointment today. She said that I should continue not doing much at all if that minimises my pain. She has also sign me up for weekly half hour sessions in the hydrotherapy pool which will likely go on until my due date. She also did some stretches on my pelvis, lower back and hips. She said I should expect to feel sore after the first couple of sessions but to persevere!

Thanks for the amazon suggestion...I'll check it out for car seat

fedupofrainydays · 12/08/2014 17:38

Hmm. Really struggling with the tiredness today. And my arm hurts loads from whooping cough. Plus feel sick.

I know it's prob too early to be stressing but all my movement is right hand side - has was last time - that resulted in baby being in awkward position and meant tearing and episiotomy and ventouse. Starting to panic that's coming my way again... Have a growth scan at 38 weeks to determine if going natural / c section but would they understand if even if baby isn't any bigger than ds, if I said the position of the baby would make me want to elect for c section? (I'm not supposed to be given any rotation in labour in case I tear again in my arse). Feeling bit scared now. Makes a change from stressing about the house in any case!

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 12/08/2014 18:29

Thanks for the reassurance about the shaking thing.

jellybeans if you can't rant on here about being heavily pg, then where can you? A woman let me go in front of her at the till in a shop today, saying "it's not good to be standing so long". I wasn't about to complain, but I wasn't actually in any discomfort apart from a bit of pressure on my bladder - I obviously look close to popping, despite having 10 weeks to go.

tothesea my midwife strongly recommends not taking the baby out until it's 10 days old. She was ranting last week about a couple who had gone shopping with the baby the day after the birth. I guess if I felt up to it I would go to a party before the 10 days were up though if it was a special occasion.

Lulu298 · 12/08/2014 20:12

Have got my whooping cough jab tomorrow morning and worried I'm going to feel crap at work for the rest of the day. Hope you feel better soon fedup.

Random TMI question coming up.

My pants often feel damp. I don't feel like I'm letting wee out. Is it sweat or amniotic fluid leaking? How can I tell? Or can
I not and actually need to get it checked out? First baby so am not sure what's normal...

BingoBango85 · 12/08/2014 20:20

Lulu I think this is just a pregnancy issue; more fanny fluid! I've needed pant liners since becoming preggers & recently needed to expand to the extra long ones! Glamorous!

Shirehobbit · 12/08/2014 20:28

Hello ladies, may I join you?
I'm around 31wks with DC2 (my due date has been a bit of a mystery, as we have nothing to date from - our DS was born Oct13 and I didn't have a cycle before discovering I was pregnant again Grin )
I'm having one of those over-emotional, fed up of being pregnant and feeling huge days, and couldn't think where else to find people who would just get it Wink

overthinker88 · 12/08/2014 20:30

Heads up ladies I just ordered a triple pack of nursing stroppy tops from new look for £8 in the sale - they have the clips on the strap to drop down.. figured can't really go wrong for that price as much much cheaper than any others I have seen with the clips.

STIGZ · 12/08/2014 20:41

Welcome "shire" you are deffo in the right place(",)

Shirehobbit · 12/08/2014 21:38

Thanks, STIGZ Smile

I have been self-medicating with chocolate; doesn't help with the whale-like status, but has certainly made me feel better.

Lulu298 · 12/08/2014 21:49

I've been using Carefree panty liners bingobango but think it might be time I graduate to Tena liners! I think I'd feel less disturbed if it was thicker in consistency!

Pregnantagain7 · 12/08/2014 22:04

Hi shire yes you are in the right place! My Ds was born sep 13 so a similar gap bizarrely my due date is 13 of October cue spooky music Grin

I've got loads done today but my god my back is killing me tonight have to face facts I can no longer spend all day cleaning and sorting out without really suffering at night. I have an overwhelming urge to get everything sorted suppose it's nesting instinct finally kicking in.

lulu I wouldn't worry it's normal to have loads more discharge mine is definitely getting worse also wee when I sneeze! Nice!

jelly totally understand how you're feeling I got talking to a woman at soft play the other day who was pregnant I thought she was about the same as me but turned out she was 5 days over I am officially huge Blush

Shirehobbit · 13/08/2014 06:10

He was due on 13.10.13 pregnantagain but decided to get to the party a bit early Wink
It's now a gamble as to whether number 2 arrives before, after or on his birthday!

binkybunny · 13/08/2014 06:42

Going into work today as feeling better and actually had a half decent nights sleep... Just trying to convince my body to get out of bed. At least it's only 2 days this week, I'm off work on Friday Grin but baking my sister's wedding cake Confused

mum2kiss · 13/08/2014 07:41

Good luck with the cake binky! That sounds like a tall order!

I'm working from home today. Up early as we're picking up the new car later this morning! So glad this whole situation will finally be resolved!

Can't remember who gave the heads up.about the nursing tops from new look but thanks. Just what I've been looking for ;)
