Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Last Friday I got so cross with DH that I took myself off to a hotel for the night.

Generally he is brilliant but it was hard at the start when I basically looked the same but acted like a wet rag.
Now I'm just on a v short fuse with the hormones and discomfort and anxiety about becoming a mum!

binkybunny · 12/08/2014 10:43

goats I think you've got it spot on there, I think she can't understand what's happened to the usual active wants to do things person I used to be. I just seem to whinge a lot now and never feel 100% well!

mum if we come up with a solution we'll be very rich people!

Tak1ng a night in a hotel by myself seems bliss right now!

I'm a bit scared that all this complaining of dh is turning me into my mother, is this what happens when you have you're own kids Shock.

I can relate on the dp front. Sometimes he does do lovely thoughtful things but you would think I was asking for the world trying to get him to smooth the doormat so I don't trip over it. It hurts for me to bend down, and takes him 2 seconds to do it for me. He still spat his dummy about it yesterday.

I got a fan off amazon for him to waft me with in labour! it just arrived and is ace, only £3. I hope it makes him arm ache, that will be some comfort Wink

Does anyone have a gym ball and is it 'antiburst'? I read that if you use one for pregnancy you should make sure it is. But there's a cheap one on Argos with lots of pregnant ladies in the reviews saying it's great and it says it takes a big load, but it doesn't mention 'antiburst'. What do you think?

Me I do not blame you wanting some modesty in front on colleagues! What a situation! Can I ask you about birth weights? With me measuring slightly on small side, but thinking, well I weighed 6lb11oz at birth so I've not been worried. But actually I was 17 days late. Do you think if I had arrived on due date I'd likely have been much less? Maybe I should be expecting quite a wee thing myself? TIA

mum2kiss · 12/08/2014 12:01

I was wondering about gym balls...saw a cheap on that said it was 65cms but I have no idea if that is big enough! I remember it coming in handy last time around when the sofa became too uncomfortable to sit on.

My dp said "i need to start helping you out more" in the middle Of the night...For now I have assumed he was dreaming lol!

So I'm on the look out for a maxi cosi car seat. John lewis have the cabriofix and easy fix base for £170. Anyone seen these cheaper elsewhere? Has to be maxi cosi as that's what's compatible with the buggy...

ohthegoats · 12/08/2014 12:30

I have a gym ball that I used for exercise pre-pregnancy, and stretching my back out. It's quite small, but then so am I. I haven't sat on it much yet - one day about 6 weeks ago when I'd had a few days of random back pain it helped, but since then I've not felt I've needed it.

There are a few gym balls on Amazon for about £6 that I have considered getting, they say they're suitable as birthing balls. Didn't realise they had to be antiburst and are different sizes, better have another look before buying!

ohthegoats · 12/08/2014 12:51

I would have thought a 'burst' feature on a gym ball would be bad in general!

LondonJen · 12/08/2014 13:39

Exactly goats ha ha! I am pretty sure the ones we use at Pilates are 65cm, they have some smaller ones that just seem to gather dust. The one I've seen is 65cm. Think I'll just get it and see. Am hoping that doing circles on it will help the pain at the top of my leg as it always seems better after class.

We got our Maxi Cosi & easy fix base off Amazon. It was a while back but pretty sure it was less than £170.. I could be wrong.. but think so.

ROFL re dreaming Mum2 but fingers crossed for you!

fatpony · 12/08/2014 13:40

littlewilliam - snap on the due date and gender!
I'm still gyming it about three times a week - I do 30 minutes uphill on the treadmill (walking fast) and then about ten mins split between cross-trainer and bike. Still feels fine although did some kettlebells at home the other day and pretty sure my back is sore from that (could have slept funny though). I've fallen out of love with swimming as find it a bit boring but should probably begin switching away from gym cardio and into the pool so it is less impact. I'm eating so much I kind of need the exercise!

littlewilliam · 12/08/2014 13:45

fatpony how funny! I think they say you have more energy with boys...could be a myth but maybe there is something true about that!

I do hill walking, stationery bike and a few leg weight machines. I too got slightly bored of swimming but husband keeps telling me I should be backing away from the gym and just swim instead..whoops! I guess I will just carry on until my body has enough. I keep telling myself that if I put the effort in now it will help have a easier labour......wishful thinking maybe!!! fingers crossed its not long now!

Kirstipops · 12/08/2014 13:49

I have a 75cm gym ball from Argos that I've had for years and is still going strong, luckily my hospital has them in each birthing room so at least I don't need to remember to bring my own!

I think my scientific explanation of why I'm so slow/achey/easily tired helped (he's very logically minded), he is now well acquainted with "relaxin"....my scientifix

Kirstipops · 12/08/2014 13:51

Oh ffs. My scientific explanation was more of a rant tbh after he dared to compare being pregnant to just being fat!

ohthegoats · 12/08/2014 13:54

I had to stop with the gym - I was walking uphill and doing some core weight stuff, but am now just swimming and going to aquanatal. Since school broke up I've also done much less general walking around and standing, I don't care - it feels nice to sit down more. I don't seem to have put on much weight, but my appetite is a bit weird, so that feels about right. Swimming isn't very exciting, and I find the pool freezing some days, but aquanatal is great fun. Ridiculous, but great fun.

YellowWellies · 12/08/2014 13:56

No you have less energy and more hunger with boys. Boys are physically harder to carry but girls are meant to be emotionally harder. I've always been told tired=boy, moody=girl.

Me23 · 12/08/2014 13:58

Well I didn't do any housework I fell asleep instead! Just made lunch and it's tired me out. So exhausted just checked my pulse and it's 105 Bpm at rest.

london at term baby apparently gain 1/2 pound per week,, so you may have been a pound lighter yourself. However don't worry about measuring a little under many women do as give birth to average size or even bigger babies.

ohthegoats · 12/08/2014 14:00

What if you're tired AND moody?

littlewilliam · 12/08/2014 14:01

well that's my theory out the window then! hunger bit makes sense though!

I think maybe I will increase the swimming and Pilates. My body will probably thank me for the rest. :)

binkybunny · 12/08/2014 14:10

Ha ha I'm all of the above, hope there's not been a twin brother giving on the scans Shock

Having too much time doing nothing is dangerous. Have spent the morning researching family ski holidays and found out Esprit Ski have creche facilities from 17 weeks so I am now dreaming of a ski holiday next year... better go and check my lottery ticket Grin

binkybunny · 12/08/2014 14:11

hiding not giving . New phone with autocorrect is doing my head in!

LondonJen · 12/08/2014 14:23

Thanks Me, it's all very interesting. Still fascinates me that all bumps are supposed to measure pretty much the same size even though everyone's looks so different. Will see what they say at tomorrow's tape measure appointment! Regardless, I imagine this is not going to be a very big baby. Grateful as dp was over 9lb!

That's good to know Kirsti. Good job -don't know if you'd be able to see out the window with a ball on the back seat!

tak1ngchances · 12/08/2014 15:14

I am also tired and emotional and having a girl. And insanely nauseous STILL even though I'll be 32 weeks on Thursday.

Had my 32 week scan today and we saw the baby in 3D! She is sooooo sweet. I absolutely melted looking at her. She is also measuring pretty much bang-on for dates with the exception of longer femurs and weighs approx 4lb and 3ozs.

My placenta is still far too low-lying though, I was diagnosed with placenta previa at the 20 week scan and we were hoping/thinking it might move up. But today it was 7 - 8mm away from the cervix which means definitely a c-section for me. Seems it needs to be 2cm away to attempt a vaginal delivery.

I have very achey back, bum and backs of legs today. Feels like I have done a hardcore workout (but really nothing could be further from the truth...)

fatpony · 12/08/2014 15:22

Tired and moody? Gender confusion :)

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 12/08/2014 15:29

Sorry to hear about your placenta previa, tak1ngchances. Are you feeling okay about the cs?

Has anyone else been feeling their baby do a sort of shiver every now and then? Lasts 1-2 seconds and feels like he's having some sort of seizure. I don't remember dd having done it, but a quick google last night reassured me that it's quite common and nothing to worry about. Still want to ask my midwife about it at antenatal class this evening though.

tak1ngchances · 12/08/2014 15:39

Yes I totally have the shivering and shaking and looked up seizures in utero...but seems it is completely normal.

I am fine with the C-section, as it is planned and so I can prepare for it. Better than an emergency one after a long time pushing!
