New thread ladies x

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Grannyapple · 11/08/2014 11:59

Hi ladies...this talk of babies arriving on the September thread had spurred me into action! Getting my Moses basket back off my best friend on Friday & washing will commence next w/e...sorting out our bedroom/my clothes tomorrow I think & defo taking my notes when we drive back home to Glasgow the following week. SIL is a mw so at least she'll be on hand if anything were to happen, tho unlikely at 32 wks (& I'm always a good 9/10 days late with my babies anyway!). Got mw appt on Saturday & will provisionally book the home birth in I think...anyone know how long it takes for mw to come & do risk assessment? Just thinking about timing for ordering pool etc?

Just worked out I only have 21 days of work left before I finish end sept...Grin.

Kirstipops · 11/08/2014 12:04

hefner I felt exactly the same reading the September thread (I'm due on 27th of Sept), not feeling very prepared at all in terms of having a hospital bag ready and baby stuff all good to go, mentally I feel like I'm all set which I suppose is something! It's nice to see DH feeling more bonded with the baby too, now that the moves are so big and unmistakably those of a little human!

Had to cancel this morning's driving lesson due to back pain, been up since before 4am with it :(

Welcome lightup!

mum2kiss · 11/08/2014 12:09

Are you taking any painkillers kirsti? That's sound pretty miserable :(

Kirstipops · 11/08/2014 12:18

Have also been wondering; you ladies who already have kids and went over your due date before - how did that affect your day to day doings, when D-Day comes and goes - do you carry on as normal or were you a bit reluctant to do much!? We've been invited to a wedding, a 40th and DH's band also scheduled for a gig the week after my due date, we've turned down the wedding and "maybe'd" the 40th, and apparently if DH has to pull out of the gig it's not a problem - I just wondered what everyone else's experiences were, if they felt like life was on hold a bit when the due date passed!

Kirstipops · 11/08/2014 12:21

No mum2 there were no drugs in the house, rage, I'll need to remember to pick up some paracetamol today. My back is loosening up so I'm on my way to work to do a half day, so that I can use the time off for another lesson.

ohthegoats · 11/08/2014 12:23

Kirsti - my SIL carried on as normal. We went for a really long walk ON her due date, then were out for dinner the night before nephew was born - think he was 10 days late. Things weren't getting planned until 24 hours before they happened, but things still happened. If that makes sense. For the second one, she was at a family wedding on the evening after her due date - he didn't arrive for another 6 days, but she had her notes with her anyway. Could have been bad - there was massive snow a day later, but it had melted by the time she had to do an urgent dash to the hospital and give birth in triage/almost in the carpark.

gunwalloe · 11/08/2014 12:30

Fingers crossed you can be diet controlled yellow

Lightup there are a few other symptoms of GD that I didn't know about which I have they are thrush that wont go away and infections that also wont budge ive had UTIs and a gum infection that wont go. I had also been having hypos and not realising which could have got dangerous I had mistaken them for anxiety my heart races I get sweaty my vision goes blurred and I feel faint. If you want to eat carefully just incase my advice would be avoid all things white, white breads rolls white rice and obviously sweets/choc. There are loads of other foods that are bad just eat a low carb diet. Hopefully you just have a big baby and pass the GTT.

LightUpLightUp · 11/08/2014 12:43

gunwalloe thank you that's really helpful - given those Sympotoms I think it's pretty likely I have it it... I went to the hospital the other week for symptoms that ended up just to be thrush I didn't even know I still had as I'd already treated myself twice this pregnancy. I also have a gum infection!! And have been seeing a consultant regarding heart palpitations.

My concern is time I getting on a bit and I'm not sure how long test results come through then how long it takes to see someone for advice I'm already 30 weeks and just want to do whatever I can to help the baby. I've rang my midwife today but she's not in so I will try again tomorrow.

Thanks for replies and welcomes!

LondonJen · 11/08/2014 12:55

Oo Yellow not yet!! Scary Mary! Hope things calm down and you're soon back home at the very least.

Lol excited I was thinking the same re percy pigs!

Binky that's what I got in Primark too, mine is bright pink! What do you think you will wear (if anything!) in the pool? I am think of buying a cheap bikini top, not cos I care about being naked but because my boobs sitting on my bump feels horrid now, can't imagine it will feel any nicer in labour. Bleurgh.

Baby has been doing this thing that makes my entire bump wiggle! Perhaps a stretch? I wonder if room's getting tight in there now?

Loving the cooler temps I slept so well last night only woke up for loo.

I just bought some Fairy washing powder for the baby clothes. I don't know why I felt the need for it to be Fairy and non-bio but it seemed very important to me and my hormone addled brain so have gone with it!

Me23 · 11/08/2014 13:03

I vommed spectacularly this morning, not long after I took my iron it is not agreeing with me.

My dd has gone to stay in Dorset with her granny we will join her on Thursday it's the first time her brother (3) has been away from her he refused to say goodbye to her as he was so upset. Poor thing, he woke up this morning asking where she was "is she in the toilet". they are so close even though they have an almost 6 year age gap.

Me23 · 11/08/2014 13:20

lightup sorry forgot to say welcome to the thread. Re fundal height measurements and scans the NICE guideline doesn't recommend growth scan for large baby in a low risk pregnancy some hospital will still scan if measuring large and certainly all will if polyhydraminos (excess fluid) is suspected but if you do have gd then I'm sure you will be offered a scan.

binkybunny · 11/08/2014 13:23

London I have a tankini I'm using for aqua natal at the mo and planning on wearing the top of that. I have packed a bikini top though for now just in case the tankini is in the washing basket as I'm planning on doing lots of floating around the pool when I finish for ML. i have asked my mum to be one of my birthing partners and even though she's going to see a lot more of me during birth I don't like the thought of sitting topless.

Have prevented boredom by reading almost an entire book and also looking at some of the post natal threads. I'm not going to complain anymore about lack of sleep during pregnancy having read some of those threads Shock.

binkybunny · 11/08/2014 13:24

me poor you throwing up and poor ds being so confused Sad.

tak1ngchances · 11/08/2014 13:33

Can I just say that skinny jeans and third trimester do not mix.

I have just been rolling around on my back like an upended beetle rtrying to get my legs into the holes. I can't reach the bloody foot/ankle part without getting all breathless and squashing the baby. I was panting, red-faced, sweaty. I ended up throwing them across the room in a rage.

Have given up now and am wearing wide-legged linen trousers that look like clown pants on me. I think the skinny ones will be going in a drawer until after the baby is born!

ohthegoats · 11/08/2014 13:39

Talk me through 'big pants' - I'm assuming you mean proper granny tit warmers that come right up to your waist, and are low covering your bum?

Like this? www.marksandspencer.com/cotton-rich-jacquard-waist-high-rise-full-brief/p/p20041798

Obviously not for £6 each, but that sort of thing? They look like they'd be comfy with a jelly belly, and good for maternity pads.

gunwalloe · 11/08/2014 13:40

lightup I had my result 3 hours after the GTT and was in the next day getting my testing kit. Once diagnosed you will have a immediate growth scan then 32 and 36 weeks. If your GD can be controlled by diet you will be induced at 39 if on insulin at 38. It's the high sugar that can effect the baby so keeping it down is key my diet is pretty boring at the mo. Scrambled egg and bacon for breakfast. Chicken and salad for lunch meat and veg with small amount of potatoes for dinner if I feel like I'm getting low I have a muller light. Obviously what works for me won't work for everyone but it gives you a idea of what my diet controlled diet is like. The diabetic nurse will go through what's good and bad with you you will also get to see a dietician.

ohthegoats · 11/08/2014 13:40

And in a size bigger than normal?

gunwalloe · 11/08/2014 13:44

Yep goats lovely belly button warmers preferably in black

ohthegoats · 11/08/2014 14:03

Thanks Gun. They look kinda good.. everything I wear comes up that high these days!

Also - that GD diet looks like how I eat nearly all the time! I try to avoid sugar, and can't eat wheat. Boring but true. You might get away with really dark chocolate - more than 90% cocoa. Also things like vanilla Hagen Daz - lower sugar than other options.

Since being pregnant tho, the wheat thing is no longer a problem (yay, temporary bread induced coma!), and I have eaten a fair amount of dirty chocolate. These both give me heartburn now, so almost back to my pre-pregnancy diet boredom.

littlewilliam · 11/08/2014 14:03

Hi, I am new to the thread but have been following it most days. Am due October 10th and having a boy :)

So at the moment I am approaching 32 weeks and things are getting a lot harder. Is anybody else exercising still? I try and get to gym 3 times a week, swimming once and Pilates once and do a 45min walk on my lunch breaks but gosh it is becoming more and more of a struggle!

also I am feeling very emotional lately and just want to meet my baby, I don't want him this early obviously but am finding the time is dragging now!

ldt87 · 11/08/2014 14:18

Hi all, lost the thread temporarily!

How is everyone? I'm 31+4 and have a waddle and heartburn. I've gained about 1.5 stone and my bump is not particularly massive but feeling quite flabby elsewhere.

A friend of a friend had a 31 week baby at the weekend and he is beautiful and doing fantastically from what I've seen on Facebook. No tubes, wires or incubators, and it really gave me a wow moment when I saw him and knew that's where I am at now!

I'm housebound after my oldest had her adenoids and tonsils out on Thursday and she is to avoid anywhere crowded or public to prevent infection. She's been in lots of pain and her sister is bored already of not doing anything so hoping her recovery is smooth!

Happytimes31 · 11/08/2014 14:29

binky I'm with you on the tummy thing, such a nightmare, it struck at the weekend during a special date night, seems to have retreated for a but now. Baby STILL transverse Sad trying to keep calm about it though.

YellowWellies · 11/08/2014 14:30

Gun what about labour? I've got a load of isotonic sports drinks and glucose tabs to keep me going on D day. They're going to be big no nos now aren't they? Confused

My GTT was raised. That was last Thursday, got the results Thursday night. Next diabetes clinic is next Wednesday but I can't make it so won't be seen until the Wednesday after Confused

LondonJen · 11/08/2014 15:05

Sorry Me I bet you wish they'd just give you the infusion and get you sorted. Your son is so sweet!

Good plan Binky yes I would def feel that way if my mum was going to be there!

Agh Taking how frustrating! I was cursing the new pilates teacher this weekend for putting weights on the floor and then telling us to pick them up I can't, woman!!

Oo yes Goats! The term 'full brief' really makes me chuckle for some reason. I got a pack of my current size and the next size (and biggest!!) in the shop. Glad I got the bigger ones not sure I would fit the smaller plus a giant mat pad in another 2 months.

Gosh littlewilliam just reading that made me feel tired, well done! I'm due 8th Oct so as far along as you. I have been doing pilates once a week and I take the dog out every day but I don't have a commute so that's hardly going for it. I couldn't handle anymore. I've been meaning to go swimming for oo, 4 months now? Grin

LondonJen · 11/08/2014 15:07

Eek Ltd! Glad to hear no wires though. It must be strange to see that pic and know you are at that stage.
