Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Excellent names, cabster! I love how random dreams can be.

STIGZ a friend of mine had a second breech baby recently. I'm sure the risk must be higher if your first is breech, regardless of whatever the reason is.

In my case I suspect my posture/alignment had something to do with dd being breech. I've been working on improving it over the last year and a half, particularly trying to eliminate my habit of tucking my pelvis under (which reduces the space in the pelvis), and indeed, this time round the baby has mostly been head-down at scans. Of course it might well just be coincidence, but since better pelvic alignment and regular squatting are supposed to reduce the risk of pelvic floor problems, I'm going to keep at it!

I'm not sure what tog our sleeping bags are, I'll have to get them out of the loft soon to wash them, so far I've just washed a load of pink stuff to get rid of at a nearly new sale. I'm quite horrified at how much pink we had for dd, considering I thought I'd tried to avoid it Confused.

Kirstipops · 09/08/2014 13:54

Yipes gun I just saw that too on the September thread, I'll be keeping an eye on that thread over the next day or so to hear how she gets on, god how real it all feels!! It'll be so exciting when it happens to one of us :)

LondonJen · 09/08/2014 14:06

Munday I'm in the same boat measuring 28.5cm at 31 weeks. Have to go back next week (32 weeks) to be remeasured but I'm not concerned as everything else is fine and I'm only little myself. If no growth they will send me for a scan though, or the m/w I saw said she would, even though I am in the 3cm range like me said. Be interesting if it's a diff midwife and they don't bother.

Smile Good news Binky!

I've been wearing the mothercare sleepbras already as wanted to wear less to bed in this heat but not happy naked as want windows open and across the street the flats have upstairs living rooms! Just feels like a crop top.

Good point, was planning to use pram for day sleeps, guess it will indeed need fitted sheets??

Me23 · 09/08/2014 14:29

Our sleeping arrangements are swinging crib for our room, would have liked a bed nest but layout of room doesn't allow it. For daytime naps we have the pram carrycot I bought extra breathable mattress so it's suitable for overnight sleeps too. We will eventually buy cotbed nearer time we need it as don't have anywhere to store it.

I have yet to buy bedding but hae always used sleep bags with my two from a month or. Two of age as they were too small to use them from birth. The gro sleepbags and mothercare ones come with handy temp guide as to what tog to use and what clothing to have underneath. I've bought gro swaddle to use straight away.

Still have lots to buy hardly have any clothes! Have nothing for me eg pads etc I'm hoping kiddicare on weds will reap good bargains.

LondonJen · 09/08/2014 15:07

I hope you get a productive trip Me I have never been to a kiddicare, but seems reasonably priced online.

Can I please get thoughts on how many breast pads I need in my hospital bag (assuming not in for a long stay in which case dp can fetch more)? I know it must vary but I have no idea how long a pair would last till needed changing? So can't even do a good guess!

Have got my little suitcase out and all my primark shit hospital stuff all over the bed. Enjoying myself!

And I found some mini Molton Brown stuff from hotel we went to for a fancy wedding and have never used so those will be my snazzy post birth toiletries lol!

MundayCakes85 · 09/08/2014 16:36

London I've no idea how long pads last but mine seem quite thin so I thought I'd probably take about a dozen? That should last 24 hours. I might get my pile of hospital crap bits together later.
Just cleaned the bathroom, now knackered. Off for a cuppa.

binkybunny · 09/08/2014 16:46

oof am shattered and still a load in the washer but feeling rather pleased with myself Grin. Managed to get nearly all baby clothes and bedding washed and dried it took 3 loads and my whirlygig dryer is just not big enough. Also painted the nursery shelves and helped DH paint the shed he's built. Can't move my back and legs any more so think tonight is going to be hot bath and hopefully DH isn't too knackered to give me a massage!

SweetPeaPods · 09/08/2014 17:39

LondonJen you shouldn't need many breast pads in hosp. Your milk will come in around day 3 so shouldn't really need them first couple of days.
Maternity pads on the other hand, pack 2 or 3 packs. You will need loads!!

ohthegoats · 09/08/2014 17:47

People who've done it before, if I just have bump ache - low down, kinda muscular feeling, but not concerning feeling, should I just reckon on that being there until the end now? Is this just what the last weeks of pregnancy are like? Or do I need to mention it to a medical person at some point?

YellowWellies · 09/08/2014 19:08

Goats I had that in the last couple of weeks before birth - I think its just your pelvic floor aching under the weight.

I'm getting sharp scrabbling pains where LO is scratching my cervix with their wee fingers - its taken my breath a few times. J never did that!

I won't bring any breast pads to hospital as milk doesn't come in until day 3 and you don't tend to leak colostrum. I never needed any. I'd get one pack if this is your first baby and if you are a leaker DH can always go and get more. But yeah big mat pads pack loads!!!!

I've got 11 weeks to go but am assuming that I should be ready in 6-7 weeks as that's when I went with J.

YellowWellies · 09/08/2014 19:09

Goats contractions usually start quite high up BTW. Can you sort out one room to be cosy to labour in? A building site and feeling exposed might hamper the old oxytocin x

ExcitedCJ · 09/08/2014 19:57

Hi all
I am loving my anaemia diet I decided to embark on today - apricots, cashew nuts, baked potato, sesame seed bars & spinach yummy yum!

Re sleeping arrangments, I really rate the bambino merino sleeping bags, see link -

www.naturalbabyshower.co.uk/nursery-furniture/sleeping-bags.html?p=2

I used them with DD from birth to at least 1 1/2 you get so long from them and they wash so well & feel so comfy.
I am using Amby Hammock for day time sleeps & hiring a Bednest for night time until 6mths & then will transfer into an IKEA cot in our room from 6 mths.

YellowWellies · 09/08/2014 20:20

We'll be using a pushchair bassinet for naps, bednest for bedtime and s/he'll move into the IKEA cot at 6 months. When j will (dear god!!!!) move into a bed - and no doubt wreak havoc in his bedroom emptying drawers and getting out of bed to play.

fedupofrainydays · 09/08/2014 21:47

I want this baby to come on due date. I need to time before to sort the house and do all my jobs!!
Visited the house today and ds was "mummy, where have all the walls and doors gone?" At least they are the walls and doors that are meant to go!! Got a bit "whatever" about all the ruined walls and ceilings. All the plaster in our room has cracked off with all the wet. But it's all fixable stuff and can make it shiny and new again. Talked through with DH what bits and bobs I want to buy for H's room and new baby's.

YellowWellies · 09/08/2014 21:56

Has anyone else experienced deep scratching sensations in their cervix? A pal has just alarmed me by saying that early cervical dilation can feel like a sharp scratching. Confused I don't remember it with J but then I was having precipitous contractions from 2cm so was a touch distracted.

fedupofrainydays · 09/08/2014 22:01

No scratching, just stabby. Or sharp pain and throbbing in my clitoris. But not scratchy.

So I am sat in maternity ward being monitored for four hours. Seems like we might be all ok, just waiting on blood results. As you might have guessed we have had a but if a crap day to day the least! Got dressed up for a lunch out followed by shopping trip and on route tire deflated. After changing wheel, completely damaged tire, now on route to a garage to get a new tyre we stop at Starbucks to get a drink and cake. Reversing out of the space the car behind us decides to do so at same time but fast. He also had a very large American truck. Lots of rear damage especially to my passenger side. Seat belt snapped on bump, pain in bump since and lack of movement.

pusscous · 10/08/2014 04:18

Crappy felt car need to get a new wheel before we can drive to a bodywork place for quote which will need to be approved.

Just glad this did happen on the motorway - we were minutes away from joining. The outcome would have been much worse for all three of us.

pusscous · 10/08/2014 04:19

Ha fleet car

ExcitedCJ · 10/08/2014 07:12

Pusscous what a nasty day for you. I'm glad you & bump & DP are all OK. How frightening & frigging annoying too. Hope you feel your LO kicking away now & all is settling down after a very hairy day.

mrsb87 · 10/08/2014 08:20

Oh no pusscous I hope you are all okay now? How scary for you all!

Thanks for that link. I think that might be a worthwhile investment!

Yellow I started a thread on lightning crotch the other day. I was getting a pain & didn't know what it was. Feels like someone has kicked me down there. Noticed it when walking.

Puss glad you and baby are ok. What a horrible day but definitely worth getting checked out.

With regards go sleeping arrangements we have a gliding crib for our room which we hope to use birth - 6m. Ds1 slept on one of us for first 4 weeks! Then not sure what to do after that as ds1 will still be in his cotbed possibly. He'll be 22m so we'll decide whether we're going to buy another cot or put ds1 in to a bed.

binkybunny · 10/08/2014 08:43

Oh gosh Pusscous that sounds terrifying! I hope you're all ok now.

I had a bit of a scare last night. We'd had a really busy day so I was soaking in a nice warm bath and started getting what I thought might be contractions but felt quite low down. They were happening quite regularly and with them came a feeling of needing the loo or throwing up. It went on for an hour, DH was getting rather alarmed and then it turned out I just had diarrhoea Blush Glad I didn't call the midwives and go in, would have been a bit embarrassing!

MundayCakes85 · 10/08/2014 08:52

Puss sounds like a horrible day, glad you and bump are ok.
Think it might be a duvet day today with this weather, anyone else on the south coast? My poor cat was a bit bedraggled this morning when he came back for breakfast Smile
