Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Sorry to those who are really feeling it. I had one instance of shooting leg pain when walking last week, right in my bum/hip. But it's yet to make a reappearance so feeling quite lucky so far. Uncomfy at night but not in pain. Glad you're okay Mrsb! (Okay-ish, sure it's no fun.)

I had awful 1st tri nausea goats and it has come back in 3rd tri but to nowhere near the same extent. Get it when I need to eat. This week I've been getting it at 11pm-midnight time and having to go snack. But I don't feel hungry, so it's not very enjoyable shovelling in crackers (though that does work and it stops soon after.)

ohthegoats · 07/08/2014 11:35

I need to go in to school today for various reasons. I've been sitting here waiting to either poo or be sick since 9am - frankly I feel that either could happen at any second. The thought of getting in the car is quite unpleasant. Totally wasting a lovely day on sitting around waiting for digestion to work. FFS.

mum2kiss · 07/08/2014 11:38

happy I don't plan on using a second hand pump but I guess if I knew the person I was getting from and could change all the tubing I don't see a problem with second hand. You might also want to consider how long it has been stored for too. If I don't have the pennies to get an electric one when the time comes I'll just get a manual one again as they are pretty cheap at the moment.

I feel totally drained and weak today...not sure if it's my iron levels again. I put some washing on the line and I actually had to lay down straight after as I felt like I would fall asleep!

Captainmcgraw · 07/08/2014 11:47

sweetpea Albie was the name we gave to my daughter (we didn't know she was a girl then) in-utero last time. I think it's very sweet and would consider it for our boy this time if I didn't think of it as my DD's foetus name!

Sorry for forgetting but who was it who put up the link and codes for breastfeeding pillow/sling? I ordered the pillow and it hasn't arrived yet despite saying it was dispatched on 22nd July. It has come from the US though so possibly a normal amount of time. Has anyone ordered either and received them yet?

Moved DD to her new nursery today so I'm having a quiet time at home whilst she is there for her trial session. So nice not to be at work. Only 5 weeks after this one though! Last pregnancy I stopped worked at 34 weeks - working full time until 38 weeks with a toddler at home as well is a very different experience!

Constant nosebleeds here as well although not too heavy luckily. Also I am getting stretch marks this pregnancy and am a bit gutted as avoided them last time. Bought myself bio oil yesterday after being won over by a mumsnet advert. It better work at £8.00 for a tiny bottle!

tak1ngchances · 07/08/2014 11:52

I am also v nauseous today and have unpredictable bowels.
Have to go to work for a few meetings and for consultant appointment. I don't want to do any of it. Equally I don't want to just lie about here. So I have no clue what I do want!

mum2kiss · 07/08/2014 12:01

Does this sound right to you guys?

My sis has very fast labours...her last two births were so fast baby was born before midwife/paramedics could get to her...her consultant in the south east for her current pregnancy advised that they induce at 38 weeks so that medical staff could be on hand as she is considered high risk...she recently moved to the Midlands and has a new consultant. When she went to the appointment she was seen by a midwife who spoke to the consultant on her behalf (!). He has said sorry we don't induce before 40 weeks and advised that she prepare for a home birth. How can he make that decision having never seen her or spoken about her previous births? She's now really worried. Her last baby came after just 1 contraction!

STIGZ · 07/08/2014 12:06

Aw mrs hope you are ok ?

Cant wait for kids to back to school, i have dd's wee friends in the garden constantly as she isnt allowed in the street to play, so i have a constant steam of girls in & out, going to toilets, asking for drink/sweets, tying shoe laces, refereeing arguments.... I am bloody exhausted... Back to work on tues in nursery... Dont know how pgp will be, so will have to play it by ear but think i will have to take my maternity leave early as i dont know if i'll be able to cope with being on feet constantly for another 4 weeks, it was bad enough before i stopped for summer... Dreading it :(

Kirstipops · 07/08/2014 12:43

Mum2 no wonder your sis is stressed out - can she demand to speak to the consultant directly? So she can have a more in depth talk about it and she and the doc can both state their case? I hate it when docs have different opinions over things, just makes me lose confidence!
Had a much better driving lesson today, hurrah! Think I'll cut down to 2hour lessons as I seem to flag a wee bit after 2 hrs driving, not productive as I just punish myself for that shit last half hour hehe. Instructor pleased and reckons I'll have my licence before baby comes, yay :)

mum2kiss · 07/08/2014 12:58

She has an appointment with her community midwife early next week and she plans to let her know her concerns. The even more worrying thing is she's 36 weeks now so needs thus sorted ASAP!

Good call reducing lesson time. My back starts to hurt after about 30 mins of driving!

STIGZ · 07/08/2014 13:15

Glad to here it kirstie !! Well done :) ... Imagine how proud you will feel when you are holding that license!! .,, a big weight of your mind if you achieve this before baba is here!!

binkybunny · 07/08/2014 13:25

Happy have a look in Mothercare, I picked up a maternity tankini for £8 and they had all in one swimsuits for £5. Mine's a bit baggy still at the mo, I got a nice big size as I plan to wear the top if my water birth plan happens. It gets a bit embarrassing in aquanatal class, especially as I work for the company and my nipples have been on the verge of flashing the lifeguard a few times Blush

I personally wouldn't use a second hand pump unless I knew who it was coming from. No knowledgable reasoning behind this, just my personal thoughts.

Kirsti I don't know how you manage a 2 hour driving lesson. Drive 40 - 50 minutes each way to work kills me and that's without having to concentrate as much as when learning. Good on you!

Mum2 I too would ask to speak directly to the consultant. Hope she gets it sorted out quickly.

STIGZ · 07/08/2014 13:33

Does anyone know how much statutory maternity pay is per week ?

mum2kiss · 07/08/2014 13:43

I think it's £136 stigz

STIGZ · 07/08/2014 13:50

mum thanks! Starting to panic now about finances :(

Happytimes31 · 07/08/2014 14:00

Thanks binky will get myself off to mothercare, also need something for water birth (fingers crossed) how many sizes have you gone up from now? Have a feeling we aren't meant to get nursing bras til 36 wks? So that means boobs have some more growing to do in the next 6 weeks...I assume so any tankini or anything will need 'growing' space Smile

YellowWellies · 07/08/2014 14:39

I think the warning about second hand pumps is because the internal membrane can't be 100% sterilised because of the nature of the material.

Also just a thought on sterilising - whilst Milton tastes funny its the only way to ensure thrush fungal spores are killed - they survive microwaving and steam sterilising! Feeding a baby with oral thrush (especially if they pass it onto you and you get thrush in your nipples) is torture. So get a bottle of Milton in just in case.

I had the GTT this morning. Gawd it left me feeling dead woolly. After the fast as soon as I had the sugar drink I fell asleep! Getting a bit back to normal now. I mentioned baby's movements had been quieter and they hooked me up to a monitor. All fine - but I hated the sensation of being tied to the bed and the machines - hope I don't need continuous monitoring in labour Confused

binkybunny · 07/08/2014 15:04

Happy I went up 2 sizes from pre-pregnancy and 1 size from my maternity clothes but I had to take the padding out of the boob bit as I couldn't get it back in properly and it's made it a bit floppier. I'm hoping I grow into, but during labour I'm sure I won't really care!

I'm now gutted as I've just found out the Scottish Mother and Baby Show has been cancelled and DH had got me the VIP tickets to include massages and a good bag Sad I was so looking forward to doing last bits of shopping too!

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 07/08/2014 15:47

Mum2kiss - your sister must be terrified, poor thing. If the midwife can't help, then maybe she can get the previous consultant to fire off an email to the new one. Otherwise I would be tempted to threaten the hospital with the press - it's a brilliant human interest story from their point of view, especially in August - the hospital policy of no induction before 40 weeks cannot possibly be so inflexible that they tell a mother of two that she should prepare for having to give birth alone/potentially in front of her older dc Angry.

crazycatwoman · 07/08/2014 15:52

STIGZ - I just checked with my work and it is £138.18 at the moment.

Just found out my local mothercare is closing Sad

YellowWellies - sorry your GTT left you feeling horrid - I didn't have to have one this time as they assumed I had gestational diabetes again (which I do). There are wireless versions of the heart monitors if you have to have continuous monitoring - push for them (no pun intended), my hospital could only find half of one set for me last time so I was fully wired up!

Didn't know that about milton... hoping to bf again, I'm not organised enough for anything else!

Just treid to sneak a nap on the sofa - bad idea, got climbed all over and covered by every baby doll munchkin could find - she is currently wondering around with one up her dress..

Finishing work on the 3rd Sept, really looking forward to is as working compressed hrs (9 day fortnight) and with an hr commute each way is getting really hard. On the plus side with lieu time and days off only have 15 days to go... and counting...

porcito · 07/08/2014 16:09

goats, my sickness went away from about week 14 and then the past 2 weeks, wham. I think a lot of mine is from sprawling around on my back as I've been really breathless too. I haven't wanted to eat anything for days.

happy, I wouldn't use a second hand pump either, but as binky said, for no reason, just my own preference. In a FB group I'm on, lots of mums seem to do it, as long as they're sterilised well.

captain, I ordered some too and they're not here. Normally here, stuff from the US comes quite quickly (not like from UK where we're still getting Christmas cards..) but nothing. Having said that, our postman literally delivers the mail accompanied by a goat, so not a reliable comparison.

Sorry to those of you who are feeling crap today. I've just got what feels like a bruised stomach. This baby has some sharp limbs!

mrsb87 · 07/08/2014 16:09

Thanks everyone for your well wishes. I made it into work on time, I don't rink I should have been there as my head was spinning and pounding most of the time. Unfortunately our manager is at a conference somewhere and there would have been no one else to open the shop. Bit stuck really. I'm home now though so going to have a good rest.

Happytimes31 · 07/08/2014 16:51

Thanks everyone, wasn't going to as didn't think I knew of one that was available but massively less money. Going to look v carefully at it though and probs replace bits.
Thanks for the Milton tip have put it on the list! Thanks binky fab advice!

magichandles · 07/08/2014 17:35

Yellow - when do you get the results of your GTT? Mine came back within about 2 minutes, which at least meant I knew.

Mum2kiss - If I was your sister I'd been threatening to move into the delivery suite reception from 38 weeks!

ohthegoats · 07/08/2014 17:53

Just had random irrational pregnant person thought - desperately don't want to be pregnant anymore, I'm bored with it. BUT, what if I get bored of the baby too? Panic...

mrsb87 · 07/08/2014 17:58

I get the feeling you won't have time to think about it goats
