Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mrsb87 · 05/08/2014 07:07

Just a small winge to start the day....

I have 2 pairs of shoes that fit. 1 pair of espadrilles and a pair of flip flops. Not a lot of choice but with the weather being so sunny I've coped okay. Today its going to rain...A lot! Soggy feet it is then. Great!

I can't blooming believe it! I slept the whole night long! I slept from 9ish pm until 5:30am when DD was yelling but then went back to sleep until 7am! Yayyy!

binkybunny · 05/08/2014 07:36

mrsb at least your feet dry out quick when the sun does shine! I have lived in flip flops and sandals for months now. I put a pair of heels on for a networking do yesterday morning and thought my ankles were going to break! I'm supposed to be wearing them at my sister's wedding in a few weeks but think I'll be going a bit more boho in flats!

MundayCakes85 · 05/08/2014 08:05

I had to buy a pair of crocs for work as my feet are so swollen they won't fit anything else Sad

Pregnantagain7 · 05/08/2014 08:38

My feet started to swell a couple of weeks ago and I bought some Birkenstocks there not really me but a friend of my who works in fashion told me I'm very on trend! Ha ha don't care as long as I can walk!
I got the ones with two straps and I don't know if it's the shoes or just fluke but I no longer have swollen feet my mum even commented on it yesterday.
I've just had a load of bedroom furniture delivered for my eldest daughter all the kids are changing rooms to make space for the baby feel like things are happening now! I'm officially on single figure countdown now 9 weeks 6 days til due date.
OMG I'm actually having another baby aaarghh!! Grin

Me23 · 05/08/2014 08:39

I bought a pair of Nike airs the other day! So comfy.

Re isofix I had some as yellow when we had a non isofix car we bought the easy base 2 it is an isofix base that you for with the seatbelt made things so much easier base just stays in the car and seat can easily click on and off so no faffing around with seatbelt every time.

Re nursery dd is 9 so at school and Ds is 3.5 and currently in a fee paying nursery now I'm off he is going 3x week we get early years funding and tax credits but still expensive as granny says. However he has now got a fully funded nursery place to start at nursery attached to Dd's school in sept so that will really help.

Pregnantagain7 · 05/08/2014 08:48

I've just been looking for a post I read a couple of days ago about a car seat think it was a pebble. I can't find it and sorry but can't remember who said it, it was something along the lines of the pebble being suitable for being used on a plane the person who posted said they liked the idea of the baby having a seat that wasn't their lap on a flight. Was just wondering how that works as we are going to book a hol ASAP after the baby is born and with three under four on a flight the idea appeals to me too! Am confused though where would you put the car seat? Wouldn't you have to pay for an extra seat Confused

mum2kiss · 05/08/2014 08:53

Yes pregnant you pay for the extra seat but when I did it with Dd it didn't cost much for her seat because she was under 2

ohthegoats · 05/08/2014 08:54

I wear Birkenstock Madrids (the one strap ones), from Easter to October every year, then biker boots from October to Easter. Not planned that way, it's just the way things have turned out - I need to stand all day at work, so need comfy supportive shoes. I have 6 different coloured Birks, and 3 different coloured same style biker boots. I have a variety of other shoes that hardly ever get worn. The Birks dry out pretty quick - I wear them in the rain, and did a big chunk of the Inca trail in them too, they are the best shoes ever.

Only got up to wee twice last night, slept brilliantly in between with no screaming heartburn, and actually feel alright today. When I say alright I mean 'sick and not interested in food', but that's every day at the moment. Going for lunch with one group of mates, a gentle park walk with another mate, then to aquanatal with the NCT women tonight. A day off!

Actually, on the subject of aquanatal and NCT - there is a facebook group for these, and as people have their babies, they post photos etc - out of the last 5 babies born, ALL of them had the mums go in to labour straight after the aquanatal class, but ALL have ended in EMCS 24+ hours later. Isn't that weird? How come so many CS? Makes me nervous.

tak1ngchances · 05/08/2014 09:47

Congratulations on the sleep cj! We need a like button Smile

I have woken up with aches & pains and feeling terribly hot. Sort of sinusitis feeling. I have taken 2 paracetamol now trying to drag myself into work. Woe is me!

Missus2ndwife · 05/08/2014 10:30

I LIVE in Birkenstocks. They are ugly but SO comfortable.

So last night in pregnancy yoga one of the ladies questioned whether she should have the whooping cough injection vs waiting until the baby is born. Apparently there is a homeopathy course you can use too ...
And there was also mention Vitamin K drops vs giving the baby a shot

I am not new age of anything, just curious about natural alternative options for my baby. Has anyone else investigated or is this too controversial to raise a subject like this on MN?

STIGZ · 05/08/2014 10:41

Just found out my uncles cancer has returned, im bloody gutted:( the past two years have been horrendous for my family with him being diagnosed 2 years ago and my gran dying a year in october, i feel like its never ending worry and i am trying so hard to keep my anxiety disorder at bay during this pregnancy without the need for medication, but i know something like this is enough to trigger it and dont want to harm my baby with my anxiety & negetive thoughts plus pregnancy hormones thrown into mix!!! I
Am also worried as i actually suffered stress related alopecia through losing my gran !! ... Sorry for being a negetive nancy but if anyone has any advice on this it would be much appreciated!!

Happytimes31 · 05/08/2014 11:17

Hugs stigz hopefully someone will be along soon with some advice.

Anyone thought about breast milk bags? Maybe second-timers? Hoping to bf but no idea what brand to buy. Thanks

Stigz sorry about your uncle - no advice unfortunately :(

The Maxi cosi pebble looks good but then the isofix bit is as much or more than the seat itself? Is that right? Mothercare is showing £119 for the seat and £150 for the isofix. There's also a 'family fix' base which is much cheaper - wonder what the difference is...

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 05/08/2014 12:22

So sorry to hear that Stigz Sad. Have you thought about hypno birthing at all? Not tried it myself but hear it as many uses that aren't just birth related. Might be a nice way to relax & just focus on yourself and baby. Sending unmumsnet hugs, must be an awful time for you.

STIGZ · 05/08/2014 12:42

Thanks ladies :) i will speak to midwife and see what she suggests, i thought this baby was a sign that things where turning around but obviously life hands you a big dollop of shit when your least expecting it... Hopefully i can get something in place before it starts to esculate & atleast i can get back on medication asap after baby is here which is in about 10 weeks ... Fuck just realised im nearly done to the single figure countdown !!! ... Better start organising my hospital bag!!

Missus2ndwife · 05/08/2014 12:55

Oh Stigz, I do feel for you. My dad died the same week I found out I was pregnant so I can relate to all the anxiety & stress. Everyone goes on about the circle of life but it doesn't make it better.

I don't know about you but I struggle to breath at times so I'm doing yoga (which will help with the birth too) and then was recommended a free app called headspace for mindfulness & meditation which looks interesting too.

Good that you are going to speak with the midwife as hopefully she can provide extra support for you.

FrauEnglischLehrerin · 05/08/2014 13:58

Stigz - sorry to hear that you've had that bad news. I use a relaxation technique called Progressive Muscle Relaxation (Jacobsen) to prepare for solo concerts and reduce performance anxiety. A friend of mine said he'd been taught the same technique while being treated for depression in hospital. It has the advantage of being extremely easy to learn and you should be able to teach yourself it using the internet. Otoh going to a yoga class or similar might be more effective at taking your mind off your worries.

Also, don't feel guilty about feeling sad or worried. Your baby will be fine.

CellyD · 05/08/2014 14:17

Stigz - just popping on to say sorry about your bad news. I'm sure your midwife and GP will be able to help. I had stress related alopecia - not during pregnancy though - and found relaxation / breathing techniques from yoga really helpful. Maybe you can be referred by your GP?

Kirstipops · 05/08/2014 15:09

Sorry to hear about that Stigz, I agree with the others that yoga and breathing techniques like hypnobirthing/natal hypno or the one that Frau suggested may help as well as you looking to your mw for some support.

"Breast milk "bags" - this thread really is a mine of information!

I've been wearing alternating between Converse and sandals this summer, not looking forward the weather turning as I seriously doubt I'd get my boat feet into any of my usual ankle boots! I miss wearing nice shoes!

Got my whooping cough jab this avo, oh joy.

hefner · 05/08/2014 15:20

Sorry to hear about your uncle Stigz. Don't worry about the anxiety harming your baby, it will be fine, just concentrate on taking care of yourself. I find progressive muscular relaxation helpful (as Frau has already suggested), or distracting myself by listening to music or doing puzzles to keep my mind busy.

Sparkle, I used Lansinoh breast milk bags last time. They are good but quite expensive so I bought them whenever mothercare had them on offer. And on the subject of dresses I wore a £10 flowery dress from primark to a wedding recently! I intended to buy something else for the wedding but ended up wearing that one as it was so comfy. It only has very short sleeves though. Its the floral tie dress shown here in case you need a back up choice!
