Ella - it was the cover mw who said it to me on Thurs. Best position is baby's back to ur front.. My normal mw has never said anything about it before now.. I'm 36+1. What about u?

KatharineClover · 17/08/2014 20:26

Head down, baby's back to your front is the best position to descend through the pelvis as smoothly as possible. Back to back (posterior presentation) can give you labour pains in your back as a wider part of your baby's head is trying to get through your pelvis. The spinning babies website explains there are certain things you can do to help encourage your baby to turn into the best position - and all those old wives tales of getting on all fours to scrub the skirting boards help too!

cookielove · 17/08/2014 20:34

Hello all, oh its so exciting to see you all gearing up for your new lo's!

bug and ilove any news!

Boo, Elijah lost weight but we were expecting him to, still I was hopeful he wouldn't! He also has jaundice bah, so no cuddles for me today! Dh goes back to work tomorrow argh!! So just me and baby tomorrow, dh is moaning about how much he'll miss him :) which is nice to hear!

BooSurprise · 17/08/2014 20:50

Evening ladies hope that inductees are progressing and congrats cookie as can't remember if I've already said!
I've got a real feeling of dread about my growth scan and diabetic clinic appt tomorrow, my sugars have been wild from very low to constantly high, struggling with my diet too at the moment, which I'm sure is half the problem. But also having lots of tightenings and period pains, and sometimes I'm struggling to tell between movements and just general tightenings. I'm just a bit concerned that I'll turn up tomorrow and get admitted and I've got lots to do at home still! Arrrh just need to get through tomorrow, I know nothing really matters, just that baby arrives healthy but I would like to at least feel ready. Well need to get back to the ironing!!

Teabiscuits · 17/08/2014 21:04

I completely understand ilove. I'm dreading any bleeding in labour as I had a nasty heamhorrage (no idea how to spell it lol) at home with DS because the placenta was coming away. Even having a period freaked me out for a while. Really hope things start moving a bit quicker for you soon X

xxmissbrightsidexx · 17/08/2014 22:54

Made a start on hospital bag tonight, & defo gonna need a bigger bag lol.. I've got a small wheely suitcase & matching small holdall, they're full of nappies etc etc, none of my stuff has been packed yet apart from breast pads & maternity pads, can't see it all fitting in the suitcase it's full of baby stuff lol x

ilovemonstersinc · 18/08/2014 01:18

Good luck with the induction today tea, hope everything goes smoothly and quickly for you. Exciting to think of all the new babies arriving soon Smile

Hope everything goes well with your app boo
Apologies if I've missed anyone! Hope everyone else is doing well Thanks

37 weeks today, can't believe I'm full term already! Last few weeks seem to have gone very quickly, although I'm guessing the next two weeks are going to drag a bit... Baby behaving itself and staying put at the mo, hopefully will stay till the 3rd! I'm getting tired pretty quickly now and struggling to stand up for long as so much pressure down below plus not much room to breathe as baby so high up. Just cleaned the bathrooms and have now collapsed on sofa - could easily to to sleep now Grin

ilovemonstersinc · 18/08/2014 07:21

nazly and bug hope your both ok and holding your babies!

whiteblossom · 18/08/2014 08:32

I didn't know what Moxa was, so I just googled! I plumped for reflexology, which was lovely (and Im sure I would have benefited so much more if I was not so upset and stressed out with my stupid dh) I have rebooked for this week also. I have been shown which points on the body to press to help soften the cervix.

I need to get on the bouncy ball, and clean my hall floor on my hands and knees Grin

Ive been experiencing some weird pains, I think when baby has a wiggle at a certain angle he must press on a nerve as Im getting 'flashes' of nerve pain at the very top front of my thighs. The width of my hand and it stops me in my tracks. Ive had the usual sharp lightening pains also but I don't think baby is engashed. Ive a mw apt on wed so will see. I seam to have permanent reflux at the moment- another reason why I don't think baby has moved down.

Someone mentioned sudden extreme hunger- yup, I wake up in the night so hungry that I feel sick and if I don't eat I start to retch. It can make me feel rather unwell. I really can eat a lot at the moment which is unusual for me. Yes so the weight is piling on and I just don't give a shit anymore!! I just need to get this baby out!!! Im very envious of those with a set date, you have an end in sight.

DH has set up an old mobile on a different network to his current mobile in case I cant reach him on his normal one Grin bit like a bat phone for emergencies. haha

I finding the babys movement very painful. He stretches out and moves limbs across and pushes out, all of which you can see very clearly, I have to hold on and ease him back in.

sorry for the essay!

ilovemonstersinc · 18/08/2014 09:10

Blossom I was told hot baths, a good shag and walking by midwife support worker. A few fami friends also recommended pineapple and fresh mint Confused hot curries and lots of sex.

Who can have 'lots of sex' when they are due Confused
im absolutely massive and managed around 4x in a week and made no difference (I was 2cm before and still am) had lots of hot baths too and did some walking. Buuut that doesnt mean it wont work for others.

Ive come to the conclusion that my body doesnt do giving birth. Like some women have problems getting pregnant I have problems delivering. Its not my fault and I cant help it so its just tough.

TheOnlySeven · 18/08/2014 10:31

ilove sorry to hear you're still not progressing, have they got a plan to get things moving? Really hope you've not got long left.

Based on when my 3 DCs were born on average I should go into labour today. I don't feel quite myself but can't put my finger on why. Getting fed up of waiting already!

TheOnlySeven · 18/08/2014 10:35

ella certainly sounds like baby could have dropped. I wouldn't be happy with him nosying through the baby's things either, can't MIL tell him not to?

Is it ridiculous that despite this being DC4 I'm really nervous/anxious about going into labour? Been having a few tight funny sensations over the last few days, when I wonder if it could be the start then I think I can't even remember what proper contractions even feel like. Someone please remind me that when it's labour I'll just know.

Teabiscuits · 18/08/2014 11:02

ilove thinking of you hope something happens today X

bug hope it's all going well.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. Apologies for all those I have missed. Brain is a bit fuzzed, can't remember what I've just read!

So I'm in, have a bed, on monitor for a bit before they examine me and decide on induction method. All good for now. I'm pooping myself though. theonly you are not the only one bricking it with number 4!

ilovemonstersinc · 18/08/2014 11:15

I dont want a section due to recovery times and having the boys and ds sn. But will have 1 if its needed in an emergency. Which hopefully isnt the case.

Ive let them know ds has been playing up as his routine and has had a few meltdowns. Feel horrible that im sat here and hes suffering at home and im not there to helphim. Hes the autistic one.

Im first on the list still which is good and will hopefully be down soon

TheOnlySeven · 18/08/2014 11:29

Good luck tea.

ilove hopefully it won't be long now then.

BexBoo12 · 18/08/2014 11:45

Ilove you're such a trooper going through all this. Kudos to you as many would have crumbled by now and asked for c section. Hope it begins to go a bit more smoothly for you.x

Tea, good luck today! Be thinking of you!

Still no news from nazly? Hope she's far too busy enjoying her cuddles with baby to come on here Smile

Can I ask about reduced movements? Baby hasn't been moving the same for about 2 weeks now, with quite a noticeable decrease in movements over the weekend. I was literally on hold to hospital on Saturday night as hadn't felt baby move between 10am and 10:30pm but then he moved whilst I was on the phone so felt stupid and put phone down before I got through but I have to be honest it's playing on my mind. I'm 37+1 today.

Also, I've read a few of you having problems with in laws, I have one too Confused my mil is convinced she is going to be straight round the moment we are home from hospital. She's been dropping a few hints about this for weeks which I've just done my best to ignore. But this weekend she actually took it a bit too far I think by saying "you have to practically drive past our house on your way home from hospital so you can just pick us up on your way home" Shock I was horrified!! DH thinks she's joking, I'm not so sure, I'm convinced that was her asking seriously for us to pick them up on our way home from hospital! Argh!! Shock

TheOnlySeven · 18/08/2014 12:36

Seriously what is it with parents/in-laws where babies are involved?! When DS was born my parents actually turned up at the hospital while I was still in the delivery room, and the hospital let them in without even asking me! Poor DH had to ask if he could hold DS before they did Hmm. Thankfully with the other DC they've been on childcare duty and can't just turn up.

BexBoo12 · 18/08/2014 12:48

Shocking isn't it. I know they are excited but surely with it being our baby we get the final say?!! Wink

holls2000 · 18/08/2014 13:54

I think I must be a terrible person cos I am quite relieved at the thought of my mum or mil being there--- starting to feel like I have no idea what to do.

on another note saw mw today - my mw and hospital are in different trusts. Looking at my file I thought I would see mw up to 40 weeks. I am 34 +5 and ahe filled in the 36 week page with today's info then said she would probably not see me now till after baby had come. that means she thinks I will be going up to hospital for my checks now - which for some reason (mainly cos I am being pathetic) has totally thrown me!!!!
