Thank you ladies. It was a bit scary last week when the MW advised we go to the hospital and take bags for me and baby! The words "just in case" don't make that sound any better. I'm 37 weeks tomorrow so could be stable til he comes on his own or if I am induced/he's delivered early he's got every chance of being very healthy.

Good luck ilove. Hope all goes smoothly and looking forward to an update. My OH was particularly snuggly last night too and has been up since 6am making flat pack for our newly decorated lounge. So proud of him and his insanely efficient nest feathering =)

Teabiscuits · 16/08/2014 10:27

Hope all goes well ilove and bug. Keep us posted!

It can be hard to avoid too many visitors in the first weeks. Luckily, we are really close with both sides of the family, and I can happily answer the door with

'Come in, stick the kettle on will you? And while your at the sink could you do those dishes? Would you just look at this beautiful picture/bead necklace/nappy full of poo that DC1/DC2/DC3 has just made. I'm sure they want to tell you all about it while I lay down in a dark room see to the baby'
I am blessed with helpful relatives who know when to bugger off.

If you aren't so lucky as me, don't answer the phone and set up a polite but firm answerphone message saying that you will welcome visitors when you are ready. Put a similar note on the door and try not to give a toss if it offends anyone.

RedToothBrush · 16/08/2014 10:34

Good luck ilove and bug!

topmammy · 16/08/2014 11:12

Good luck ilove and Bug :) xx

Had Jessica weighed yesterday and she has gone from 6lbs 5oz to 6lb which the MW says is normal. I never thought I'd have such a dinky little baby! Smile

My mum is coming round today to show me how to bath Jessica for the first time. Seems like a simple thing but I'm actually not sure the best way to do it lol.

Well everything is ok here, just getting to grips with bf - nearly got the hang of it, but if I get the latch a bit wrong it reaaaallly hurts lol.

Hope you're all ok. Sorry you're still feeling stressed out missbright Thanks

dontevenblink · 16/08/2014 12:28

Good luck today ilove and bug, hope everything is going well.

top glad to hear Jessica is doing well, I remember being amazed at how tiny my dd Jessica was, she was 6lb 14 at 39+4, was scary having to look after something so small Smile Make sure you take her off and reposition her if feeding hurts, I never did this with ny first and it used to make my toes curl when she latched on sometimes, ended up with bleeding nipples, yuk. With ds1 and 2 I always took them off (put little finger in their mouth to break suck gently) if it hurt, and repositioned them, and I never had any trouble at all. So tricky when its your first though to know what's best, I think I was fairly clueless Grin

Hope everyone else is well x

Elijah was born at 11.30pm on the 13th September, he is in the neonatal nursery as we are teaching him how to breastfeed! He weighed in at 5lb 9oz's and is seriously cute!

I went into hospital via ambulance on Sunday with extreme back pain, I never felt pain like it before. The ambulance men were un impressed and told me I could of got a taxi! hmm

Once at hospital I was eventually diagnosed with a severe uti which I had been given the wrong anti b's for on wed, I was eventually given codine and allowed home. On Monday the codine had stopped working at 11am ish and around 12 ish I went to the loo and wiped a hell alot of mucus plug, I called triage and they said to come in and get checked.

I had to wait for a lift but got to triage at around 2-3pm, they assessed me and said I was fine, it felt like contractions but the monitor wasn't picking them up (hurt like hell) when she checked to see if my waters were intact I was already dialated 1-2 cms. It became quite apparent I was in early labour, i was moved to a delivery room which suddenly became very busy and
A drip waa started to stop the contractions, I was given a steroid injection, which has a nasty sting! And basically I waa monitored for 48 hrs, I could only lie on my back as they lost his trace on my side, so I was on my back on a uncomfortable bed for 4 nights and days!

On Wednesday morning they removed the drip, I was free, i was given 2nd steroid injection but by then though I had become quite constipated (tmi) so was given fibrogel and had also been struggling to wee for ages, they told me to keep drinking. I managed breakfast and sneaky sausage and egg mcmuffin at 10ish then I really started contracting, at 11.30 ish I managed to get a scan on my bladder and kidneys, baby was on my right kidney.

No clue on time but eventually they checked me and I was 4cms dialated, they put in a cathether which filled up almost instantly and offered me an epirdural. Which I gladly took. Luckily I didn't contract at all during epidural insertion.

After 4hrs they checked me again, i was still 4cms so they decided to break my waters, which went with a pop, I was contracting all this time but they were unsure as the toco wasn't picking it up, they didn't check me for a while and decided as I wasn't progressing to give me a c-section, they quickly decided to examine me and I was fully dialated so they let me push, they finally changed the toco so they could see I had been contracting all along and then they got me ready to push, I pushed for 5-6 contractions and then they put on the focrceps and he was out. They seemed quite shocked as was I. He waa breathing well so I got a good cuddle, but then they took him away to be assessed I was then stitched up!

KatharineClover · 16/08/2014 15:06

Does anyone else gave separated abdominal muscles? I felt a weird, twanging in the centre of my stomach muscles like a zip undoing a couple of months ago. Now I'm certain they've separated about 2-3 finger widths Sad my stomach goes pointy when I sit up/lie down. It's vain of me, but I hope they go back together well after birth, I didn't have this last time, not sure if there's anything I should be doing now to help or if it's just a case of wait and see and do exercises after baby is here Confused

Hope all goes well today ilove and bug

tea I am lucky enough to have similarly helpful relatives, especially MIL who is wonderful (although Dsis (no kids) is judgemental and tends to rile me up a lot - DH thinks this is because I never confront her, but after 34 years it's hard to start).

polkadotdelight · 16/08/2014 15:14

Wow congratulations cookie you've been through the mill. Fab name, give him a cuddle from all of us!

TeamEponine · 16/08/2014 15:38

Congrats Cookie!!! Sounds like you've had quite a few days of it, but it must be fantastic to have your little one for cuddles now.

Topsyloulou · 16/08/2014 15:45

Good to hear from you Cookie. Loving the name. Sounds like you had a tough time. Hopefully he'll be out of neonatal soon & you can all settle into family life.

polkadotdelight · 16/08/2014 15:49

Has anyone heard from Nazly?

bugoven · 16/08/2014 15:53

Congratulations cookie and thank you for the birth story. Also love the name =)

My blood pressure seems fine (which is amazing seeing as I am incredibly upset because my cat was shot with an air rifle this morning and will be ok but is in the vets til Monday) but still have protein in wee and bloods are being checked again. A trace showed baby's base line heartbeat is quite low but probably normal for him. He's very active and I had 6 contractions in about 40 min. BH of course but they are definitely getring stronger. Been here 4 hours so far =/

lucidlady · 16/08/2014 16:29

Congratulations Cookie! Love the name and hope you are managing to get some rest!

TwosaCrowd · 16/08/2014 16:36

Congratulations cookie ! Good luck ilove and bugoven sorry to hear about your cat - that's terrible!

I'm just so fed up of being pregnant, after losing some mucus and starting what I thought were tightenings/contractions it's all gone quiet again.

CumbrianExile · 16/08/2014 16:37

Wow Cookie you have certainly been through it. But congratulations, lovely name Smile

Sorry to hear about your cat Bug, hope s/he makes a quick recovery.

lilone1234 · 16/08/2014 17:22

Elijah is a lovely name cookie - glad you are both doing well despite his fairly dramatic entrance in to the world! It worries me a bit that they weren't even picking up your contractions though and could have unnecessarily given you a C section if they hadn't gone ahead with the last examination!

bug Glad you're doing ok! Sorry to hear about your cat though - can't stand that sort of cruelty to animals, makes me so angry!

Two I think most of us are starting to feel this way now. How many weeks are you? Hope things move along for you soon! I'm pretty much ready whenever baby is but am 36+4 so think is probably best for baby to cook a bit longer, and feel like I should actually spend some time relaxing while I can now i've got everything pretty much sorted!

Hope things are going well for ilove!

TwosaCrowd · 16/08/2014 17:26

lilone I'm 36 +4 too! DS was born at 37 weeks so I'm hoping this one goes the same way.

ilovemonstersinc · 16/08/2014 18:14

Im in bed, on monitor 2ish cm dilated but cervix still high so needed the gel to bring it down. If it would have been a bit lower then could have gone delivery for waters to be broken.

Contractions are now painful need another 10 mins on monitor before I can get up anf move around

Bug glad to heat bp was better and hope your cat recovers quickly.

Cookie thats a lovely name and a brilliant weight for his gestation

top glad Jessica is settling in

Sorry to ask this Ilove but i've skimmed back through thread and can't find out, how come you're being induced?

cookielove · 16/08/2014 18:47

Hello, busy pumping so thought I'd post. Nope it wasn't easy but it was worth it. I just love him so much and can't wait to get him home!

I am however in oddles of muscular pain, waiting for an appointment in triage as I am struggling to walk and eat now!

Oh labour, such fun times!

KatharineClover · 16/08/2014 19:55

Congratulations on baby Elijah cookie x

Acorncat · 16/08/2014 20:02

Congratulations cookie

All these births are terrifying making it very real! It's good to read about ones that aren't so straight forward but still have been good, if you know what I mean.

KitKat1985 · 16/08/2014 20:41

Just checking in to catch up. Congratulations to cookie on baby Elijah. xxx

Also wishing lots of love and luck to ilove and bugoven. xxx
