Morning ladies, hope everyone's okay x
Growth scan/consultant appointment this afternoon, my anxietys through the roof I've already thrown up because of it :( dreading what they'll say x

TeamEponine · 06/08/2014 11:44

Wow to the batch cooking white!!! I still haven't sorted my hospital bag or birth plan, but after that I'm thinking a whole load of batch cooking would be good.

I've been looking into the postnatal vests, so would also be interested to hear if anyone has used them before. The JoJo ones look good, but from the reviews I'm totally confused over what size to order. They seem to say they are quite small, but I've found everything from JoJo is big, so I'm stumped!

Sorry to hear that some of you are struggling with less than supportive OHs. Mine is almost doing the opposite. Each time I freak out he is just really confident that I can do this and that everything will turn out great. I'm just trying to absorb some of his confidence Grin. He said he only has two concerns: that baby is healthy and how we will cope with the lack of sleep (neither of us are good with that!). He's been great about my weight gain, and actually confessed last week that he thought I'd be far huger than I am. I wasn't quite sure whether to be pleased or upset?! Confused

ilove SERIOUSLY!!! How unbelievably rude!!! Having said that, someone I know made the twins comment the other day. I was slightly snappy in my reply, asking them if they thought they had a greater degree of expertise than four different sonographers across six scans. Inside I also wanted to freak out because she is measuring small and I'm going for growth scans, so how the hell can I be big enough to look like I'm having twins?!

Did a bit of reading up on breech frank position, and am now putting together a list of exercises to help turn baby!!!

red Sorry, but a holiday in Moscow in November did make me giggle a little!!!

ilovemonstersinc · 06/08/2014 11:47

Blossom is that night gown comfy Grin
I did actually tell her I found her comment really offensive and that it annoys me when people jump to assumptions. She was lost for words and apologised. Dh thought I should have left it. Whyy should I??

holls like blossom said men are funny creatures.

Good luck for today missbrightside hope it goes well xx

lilone1234 · 06/08/2014 11:49

Hope all goes well missbright sorry you are feeling so anxious!

Wow sounds like some of these men have a thing or two to learn! I suppose they'll never really be able to understand pregnancy and have their own worries but just deal with it in the worst possible way at times!

My DP on the whole is very supportive, especially as i've become more pregnant and he's come round to the idea a lot more! But I still occasionally get comments about 'my baby' when he's annoyed about things like building furniture!

ilovemonstersinc · 06/08/2014 11:50

Good luck with the appointment missb x

whiteblossom · 06/08/2014 13:10

good luck missb let us know how you got on. fingers crossed for you xx
team Ive got a sausage & bean casserole in the slow cooker as I type. Grin

Though I just nipped out to get three ingredients- which of course they didn't have so had to pop to waitrose...well they are doing up their car park so limited spaces and everyone wants to park as close to the door as possible, but once you drive past those you get directed straight out, so I got caught out as their were no spaces so I just dumped car in a disabled spot- I would like to point out that their are loads of these and not one being used (and would never normally do this) and I just thought sod it, I need three items, so left my maternity pass on view...Only to see when I was paying at the till a bloody parking attendant writing me a ticket! So I knocked on the window and said I would be one minute to which he rolled his eyes, So pointed to big belly and said come on, to which he let me off as long as I only two mins....how close was that!!

ilove lol night gown Grin its actually the floral mat' dress from next that I posted a pic of, whenever I where it all I get is ohhhhh your huge. Yes Im pg whats your excuse? Im glad you told her straight, why should it be you speechless, love it, let her flounder.

Shhhh I bought a weightwatchers magazine...The main article listed on the front page is " bye-bye baby weight Hello fab new body" Its dated September so figured DH cant shout at me for buying it HAHA.

misog2000 · 06/08/2014 15:18

Thanks for all the bra recommendations, I guess I will have to brave the shops, but I hate actually going shopping and normally order everything online, think this is one of those times I just need to brave Lakeside (eugh).

Good luck for scan and appt MissB, I was told I was measuring small at my last appt and will have to have a growth scan if not caught up by my next midwife appt, the problem I have with it is I have never been measured by the same midwife twice in a row so the chances of getting a consistent measurement are slim to none. I think I have been small the whole way through but they just guessed my early measurements hence it looking like there hasn't been much growth since 28 weeks according to the tape measure, whereas just from looking at my bump you can see it has grown massively since then!

I know I have ranted about this before so sorry all, but it just makes me so cross that the fact that I have had no continuity of care means no one really has a clue what's going on with me and what is normal etc.

Those of you batch cooking put me to shame, I can barely boil an egg! Fortunately I'm married to a chef who makes me lovely dinners and has already said he will make me lunch before going to work when I'm on mat leave to stop me surviving on toast alone cause it's easy and yummy Grin

RedToothBrush · 06/08/2014 15:34

Been to Midwife today.

On Friday 1st Aug I had a blood test. This was because my second blood test result was .... normal...

They called me on 31st July to book it so was in quick. I was baffled about the need for the blood test as I'd know about the last result for about a week.

I was told they would get the result today so we asked at the appointment if it had come through. It was actually a little low, but only just - fair enough. Turned out they had a prescription ready for me.

This is where its REALLY confused me. The prescription is dated 30th July... two days BEFORE I even had the latest blood test.

So why did I even need the blood test, if they were just going to give me an iron prescription anyway?!!!

Crazy.

And we wonder why the NHS has no money.

KitKat1985 · 06/08/2014 16:03

Hello all.

Really struggling with this sodding UTI at the moment. Apart from just generally feeling a bit crap with it all (despite having started on antibiotics) the need to pee all the time is doing my head in. Last night I got up about 15 times literally, so barely slept at all, then had to get up for 5.30am for work. Would love to just get signed off sick for a week or so to get over this and get some rest but silly NHS employment rules means that if I go off sick at this point in pregnancy for something pregnancy related then they can just make me start my maternity leave early instead, and I want to spend as much as possible of my maternity leave with baby so really don't want this to happen. Am going to try and get a quick nap on sofa before having to get ready for antenatal class this evening. Yawn.

TeamEponine · 06/08/2014 16:04

misog I can totally understand your frustration as I've also not seen the same midwife more than once! I've been doing a fair amount of reading on "small measurements" recently as I'm having to go for growth scans, and read that when baby turns, this can show up in the fundal measurement. So when head down the measurement can decrease slightly as they are more in the pelvis than sticking out. Who knows! From most of my reading I'm concluding that both fundal and ultrasound measurements are massively unreliable!!! Angry

red V strange!!!

bugoven · 06/08/2014 16:36

red I am also in the balloon feet club. Feet, ankles, legs, hands, arms, everything. I can't believe how painful it is but relieved to be told that nothing seems to be wrong. Lots of sympathy to you X

xxmissbrightsidexx · 06/08/2014 16:52

Thanks for the comments ladies x
Baby's still small end of the centile weighs 4lb 1/4 which is 500g gain since last scan, got low amniotic fluid so now need seeing weekly to have heartbeat traces to check well being of baby, & another scan in 2weeks. My notes say high risk now :( Really shouldn't google things neither, horror stories :(

xxmissbrightsidexx · 06/08/2014 16:56

Was even checked to see if my waters had been trickling, they haven't thank god.

When I went to make the appointment for the traces on baby I was talking to the midwife about it all as I was worried about it all obviously, I said 'the consultant said he wants to see me weekly now because of low amniotic fluid' which he does, she said 'no, he wants to see you weekly because your baby isn't growing' talk about putting the frighteners up me even more :(

TeamEponine · 06/08/2014 17:05

missbright I can't believe how tactless some midwives can be! You would have thought that they would understand the stress and anxiety that pregnant women feel in these situations. Good that baby is gaining weight though. I've also made the mistake of looking to Dr Google over the past 24 hours - really not such a good idea...

topmammy · 06/08/2014 17:22

Loving your batch cooking white A proper little production line you have going there! I keep saying this but I will start doing mine soon haha. This muggy hot weather is zapping my energy at the mo though.

I need to sort out my bra situation too. I've been wearing a couple of non wired maternity bras for most of my pregnancy but they do feel a bit uncomfortable now, I wonder if it's due to my rib cage expanding or something. Need to get measured for a nursing bra but I'm guessing there's not much point of that until closer to due date so I'll hang on another week or two. Although I actually only have 20 DAYS till my due date. Argh Shock My hired tens machine arrived today too. Double argh Shock I'm a bit scared of the tens machine Tbh!

Sorry you're feeling poorly KitKat and having to work too. Wouldn't they have to prove your UTI was pregnancy related to force you to start your mat leave though if you got signed off for a week? As anyone could get a UTI. It's not right that they put you in such a position when you sound like you really need to rest.

Hope you're ok missb sounds stressful for you :( but good they are keeping a close check on you and baby.

Does anyone else's DHs find it difficult to talk to the baby bump? My DH said today he finds it a bit strange 'talking to my belly'. He is very excited about having a baby though so I'm not too concerned but it would be nice if he could bond with bump too.

I've started watching Scandal on sky on demand. Up to season 2. It's pretty good and is passing the time nicely :) Anyone else watch it?

xxmissbrightsidexx · 06/08/2014 17:23

I know, she could see I looked worried enough, left hospital feeling worse than when I went in because of her :(
OH tells me I shouldn't google but I can't help it, would rather prepare myself for things that could happen than not know anything at all x I'm even more paranoid that there's a problem with baby now though, it's been one big worry since the 20week scan when they picked up that there was brightness in the bowel, feel like I may as well live at hospital but I'm glad they're monitoring us x

ilovemonstersinc · 06/08/2014 17:31

Missb its good in a sense they have you under high risk as it means they will keep an extra eye on you.
Worst come situation is they will induce you a little early so they can help her on the outside and see why this has happened x

Red, I think you just summed up how the NHS system works. Zero communication between anyone. It does annoy as it ends up costing them (us!) more money. So disorganised. Misog- totally agree with the lack of continuity, lack of support or info.

kitkat, I think that's really crap that they make you take maternity leave early under those circumstances! You could argue that anyone can get a UTI, you don't have to be pg and therefor its singling you out for being pg which they are not allowed to do. Do you have a hr adviser/union you can talk too. You shouldn't have to work when your unwell.

miss b baby is growing and that great news Smile sucks about the low fluid but that can be managed. They don't seam to explain much to you at your hospital they let you walk away and worry- not helpful. I know a lady whos water went very early (slightly different I know) 20 ish weeks and she was able to remain pg without the fluid or infection/problems for several weeks- they even sent her home.

whiteblossom · 06/08/2014 17:42

cross posted with TOP. A bloke can get a UTI [GRIN] Hows that pg related?! Kids get them....

I love Scandel, now watching 3rd series and its killing having to wait a week, I love watching stuff all in one go.
