Onwards into the 2nd trimester, where hopefully the bumps will overtake the poo factories!

Stats here.

That's great news mummyk8 you must be so relieved. Glad you heard a strong HB too, Mad

Lulu I keep trying to decide if I can feel movement - I'm not sure if it's just bowels/general innerds moving (urgh TMI). And every time I've lay down and blocked out everything else to concentrate on the movment, I've fallen asleep!

Weirdo dream last night, I was going on a date with Sam Rockwell and he was waiting for me at the front door while I was getting ready. None of my clothes fit me and all my tights had massive ladders and holes in... I was flailing around my room stressing and trying to find something for 3 hours till eventually he came in and said the restaurant was shut now! Confused I was bloody shattered when I woke up....

Loobyloo893 · 28/07/2014 17:37

Glad mw was reassuring mummyk8.

Also for baby groups (although not until they are 6months) sing and sign is fantastic. My DS went from 6months to 18months and absolutely loved it. We only stopped because we moved and there aren't any near us. They teach baby signing through nursery rhymes and play. DS picked it up really well and still signs now if he's tired and can't be bothered to talk lol. But it really helps with communicating when they are little.

I've not been told that Mads cos this is my first... but my Mum did tell me they are less bothered about seeing you with each subsequent pg! She said by her third, they basically said "just come back when you're giving birth!" haha!

LulusMiniEgg · 28/07/2014 18:44

Vivi I was the same but unless I'm gurgling a lot it's defo baby (not that I have previous experience!). It's too tickly to be digestion!

rumisyum · 28/07/2014 18:50

Hurrah K8! Hope you're feeling a lot better now.

And yay for strong HB Mad! Although OMG at not needing to come back till so late. Aren't there things they're supposed to screen for? I guess they figure you've got it sussed if you've done it once before? Confused

Dec- yeh I wanted the citi jogger but we already have a britax car seat (so we can add it to the britax ) and that was the deal breaker for me! Plus loads cheaper. I think the city jogger is fab though.

Minibagel · 28/07/2014 21:15

I just looked at when my mw appointments are and I think they are the same weeks as with our first, she hasnt given us fewer appointments like I was expecting. I'm quite happy about that though, I like seeing someone regularly, it passes the time.

Baby groups I've loved are mostly at surestart children's centres. They are very supportive there, offering an ear to talk about baby things like sleep and feeding.

Minibagel · 28/07/2014 21:17

mad I think I would keep going regularly. Two pairs of eyes are better than one, so there's no harm in beinf consultant led and still seeing your mw.

I think if mine had said I don't need to come as often I would have asked if I could anyway.

RPopz · 28/07/2014 21:46

My cat is home!! Stinks of fag smoke and has a new name but.... YAY! Grin

RPopz · 28/07/2014 21:46

Sorry for the week long solid whining....

RPopz What great news. I'm so happy for you. As for week long solid whining.... utter nonsense I would have been the same, not to mention thats what we are all here for I think I won the prize for winger of the week this week - hehehe.

ViviPru · 29/07/2014 03:34

I'm so fed up. I got up (silently and in darkness) to the loo at about 2.15 and noticed DNs bedroom light was still on. 15 mins later I heard her get up and use the loo, and I could hear her banging doors and turning the lights on and off as she went. I wasn't surprised to then hear the dog whining and scratching at the kitchen door, at night we're careful not to make any noise or turn on lights as the dog sleeps by the glass kitchen door and it can disturb her. She's now been whining and scratching at the kitchen door for ages, she saw and heard DN and she's excited and wants to go and play.

I have already got up to go and try to settle her but she's past the point now and has been crying and banging the kitchen door for 45 minutes (not helped by the fact she could see that DNs bedroom light was still on so the dog knew she was up and things aren't normal). Now it's woken DH up, he's verging on insomniac and once he's awake he's buggered for getting back to sleep. He's flat out at work atm and needs all the rest he can get but he's just got up to go and try to settle the dog.

Of course I don't mind DN getting up to use the loo in the night and I don't expect her to do it in silence and darkness in an unfamiliar house... but I doubt she'd have needed to were she not up at 2.30am chatting online.

Is it Friday yet? Sad

Babysprout · 29/07/2014 06:55

Oh vivipru I feel for you - DH and I don't enjoy people staying over midweek for that reason. We, like you, have our own techniques to make sure we make as little noise as possible so we don't wake each other up but when people stay over it can feel like they're completely thoughtless about noise and light!!

If I were you I would try to tackle it today so you don't get this all week. Explain that you don't mind her getting up but could she use her phone as a torch to avoid turning on lights. I don't know how she would take it though!!

I hope you're giving her an early morning wake up today!! If my mum wanted me up she used to clang pots in the kitchen or do the hoovering outside my room - a hair dryer is pretty annoying too!

Hope you got back to sleep!!

ViviPru · 29/07/2014 07:45

Oh thanks so much Sprout good advice. We finally all got back to sleep at about 4am. Feel rough this morning! DH went in last night and asked her to turn the light off (off his own back - I was quite surprised!) so hopefully we won't have a repeat performance tonight.

CallingAllEngels · 29/07/2014 08:21

Dropped off last thread while on holiday and only just found you! Bbl to catch up.

RPopz · 29/07/2014 09:05

Ah Viv - I feel your pain. We have to have a strict "no leaving the bedroom after 4am unless you are planning to get up! rule... If it looks remotely like morning and the animals hear us being awake it's game over. The dog starts whining and scratching/ gouging at the kitchen door (nice soft pine...) and the cats start yowling to be fed. Not sure how shits gonna go down when the baby is born!! No wonder she didn't get up til late if she's staying up til that time. How annoying for you Sad. X

Thanks RPopz, unsurprisingly she hasn't surfaced yet. I have a lovely 1.5 year mileage record backlog for her to enjoy when she does. Wasn't going to foist such an interminably dull task on her but she's earned it.

I figure when the baby is here the dog will just slowly adapt to a different routine, it'll probably be tricky at first but over time things should settle. If I'm up anyway with the baby, it won't be such an issue if the dog is up too unlike last night when I had no reason to be awake other than 20kg of canine wailing and throwing itself at the kitchen door Confused

tams1uk · 29/07/2014 09:48

Oh my goodness - just been having a catch-up after a few days away and read the birthing story someone shared. I was crying with laughter - I can so picture myself being like that - completely insane. Going to get poor DP to read it so he has an inkling of the mayhem he's in for, lol

Rpopz, glad kitty has returned safely - I would be devastated if my cat had been gone so long - he's my baby (for now)

Viv, hope your week with DN improves, although sounds like you may have to have a little chat to her, just to make her aware really. Teenagers can be a little oblivious sometimes.

Hope everyone has a good day!!

Saraswati · 29/07/2014 10:18

morning all! hope your DN enjoys the task viv I'd get her doing some proper nasty jobs to make up for that! My dogs are exactly the same, except they sleep in our room (got to change that before baby comes eek!)

I'm properly knackered today and also having an outfit crisis before the wedding i'm going to on thursday. I'd bought a dress a few weeks ago but I have now of course decided I dont like it. I'm too small for maternity but look like a weird egg person on sticks in normal clothes. I think i'm going to buy a burka and be done with it. I've also got horrific eczema on my legs (as well as the ringworm) so will have to wear tights and closed toe shoes, in the heat, argh. I'm going to shop at lunchtime and just throw money at this problem!

RPopz · 29/07/2014 10:28

Haha Saras throwing money at it sounds like an excellent plan - enjoy Smile

We sometimes bring the dog up to bed if we want a lie in and he's making a commotion downstairs (and for the sake of our poor doors...). He'll settle down for a bit longer with us. He sleeps all night in the kitchen though... from day one I was adamant on that, I'm a rubbish sleeper as it is without a clumsy snoring dog!!

Morning all! Just had my 16 week appointment and all is good, very quick scan with the obstetrician and it's growing nicely with a strong heartbeat. Roll on 20 week for my next look!

My dog sleeps downstairs in the kitchen, I vowed that he would never sleep on my bed, way too much black hair for my white sheets! My only worry with the whole baby thing is him! I don't want him to think I don't love him anymore!!

Had my 16-week obstetrician appointment this morning too and all good, HB strong. Annoyingly my cardiology hospital haven't bothered to write to them yet about my appt over a month ago, so I have to chase them up yet again. Thankfully the hospital I plan to give birth in seem a little more efficient...
