Greenstone - with DC1 having trawled through MN reviews I went for a second hand (so cheap) lactaline dual electric pump. At the time I thought I would be able to sell it on once I was finished having babies and so get my money back. Six years on it is something of an antique so maybe not.

blamber · 17/07/2014 16:25

I think Alita mentioned she had the m&p zoom.

amy83firsttimer · 17/07/2014 17:28

My first foray into tie-dye is going well. Blue stuff hanging on line as we speak and pink stuff dyeing now. We don't know what we're having but babies don't mind wearing the "wrong" colour!!! So exciting.

Yeahhhhhh tie dying!!

I plan to do my lime green stuff next week for rainbow collective...

Alita7 · 17/07/2014 18:00

Yes Twiglet I've bought the zoom, but it's not arriving until October :) I think it's the best budget travel system out there from my intensive searching!

Ahhh 24 weeks finally feels good knowing baby has a chance if things don't go to plan.

I think I jinxed things by detailing all his movement on here as yesterday and today he's been quite quiet.

Sorry to hear about friends and family having mcs, I feel so so lucky that I've made it this far this time, I hope they get a healthy pregnancy next time!

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 17/07/2014 18:19

Hello all will catch up later been pretty tired this wk so not been on

Does anyone have views on stokke xplory am looking at getting one will def be second hand though

amy83firsttimer · 17/07/2014 18:20

I think the pink stuff will have been more successful. DH didn't realise how tightly you'd have to exclude the dye. Will have to post more photos in about 20 mins. Not doing rainbow collective as actually can't be arsed.
Also got my sling through post today. It's just a stretchy cotton wrap type like a moby wrap but was £12.99 on ebay (new). Seriously considering trying it out with a teddy bear later!!!!

LOVE the tie dye! Purple would ROCK!

I wonder how many times you have to wash them before the dye stops coming out?

TwigletFiend · 17/07/2014 19:10

Amy, can we also have a pic of teddy in sling?! Grin Good effort on the dye front though, they look lovely!

Alita, my Rainbow Collective contribution will be winging its way to you early next week Smile

Has anyone got a pregnancy support band? I've been struggling since the weekend with terrible pain in my left hip and buttock, it makes it very hard to walk and sometimes even when standing still I get a clench-inducing spike of hot pain through my SI joint and down towards my knee. I think it's probably just my normal SI problems flaring up worse than they ever have before, but my normal back support isn't very comfy across my bump.

Annarose2014 · 17/07/2014 19:29

Twiglet I have a proper pregnancy belt from a physio. Very strong support, but too uncomfortable to tolerate for long.

I also have a simple length of Tubigrip - thats been the best suprise - comfy and gives support, if a bit hot.

Have you been referred to a physio by your midwife? I was & found it helpful.

amy83firsttimer · 17/07/2014 20:15

I have another shade of blue and green to do in the next couple of weeks with 3-6 and 6-9 months stuff. All that stuff is newborn or 0-3. Teddy in sling would probably need my face on it and don't really want to do that but I'll see what I can do with cropping etc. Sling is purple and I wear quite a bit of purple so baby in loads of purple would be overkill. I have got it one purple thing but that'll probably be it. Ah, just remembered mummy's knitting a berry shade baby hoodie so maybe that's not it!!!!

Twig did you get my address? I did it with my phone so had to manually put in your name.

Alita7 · 17/07/2014 20:34

Those of us doing the berks Surrey meet up shall we head to the thread to arrange things?

amylou85 · 17/07/2014 20:35

I've started feeling movements from about 15 weeks and they're so strong now they're often uncomfortable! Usually if I'm sat forward, she doesn't like it and kicks out to tell me to sit back I think! Bossy little bugger already!

I felt that silvercross looked rather big and bulky, beautiful pushchairs but not great for putting in a boot etc. Going to look at a range of them with DP this weekend and he'll make a more sensible decision I think!

We had our end of school bbq (in the playground) today and the head ordered an icecream van so that was fab! Didn't want to touch the meat tho as I am completely off it this pregnancy, so I had a shed load pf pasta when I got in instead!

Strawberryfield12 · 17/07/2014 20:35

Twiglet I am wearing this one. I didnt have any massive back pain, but thought I would rather have it for prevention when the bump popped out.

Talking about being hormonal. Last night we were about to hang up the custom made curtains in the baby's room and realised that they have messed up the lining - the regular one instead of the blackout one. As it was too late could not get hold of the company straight away and that made me feel as if the world had just crushed. I am not very good at crying, but it was very close to some kind of breakdown. This morning they reacted immediately, the faulty curtains have been collected by courier by noon, so definitely no end of the world here, but no doubt me overreacting.

haventgotaclue1 · 17/07/2014 20:46

Twiglet we're also going for the Mama & Papas Zoom travel system - £300 for carry cot, buggy / chair thing and car seat. Like you, I was a bit concerned re quality (you pay for what you get etc etc), but actually think it's more than adequate and less than half the price of other systems AND you get more stuff. Am convinced that it'll be fine for the months that it's used

pinkgirlythoughts · 17/07/2014 22:17

I tried out our baba sling on a teddy- my mum and sister nearly wet themselves laughing when we realised I'd put the 'baby' in back to front! Couldn't work out why it didn't look right with the feet pointing up towards my head Grin

Those with older DCs, how do I stop the 3 year old from getting into the baby's cot?! He can climb in but can't get out, and I keep finding him laid in it going "I'm a baby, I'm in Biscuit's cot!"

Greenstone · 17/07/2014 22:23

amy83 I love the blue 'ombre' babygro at the far right of the second pic!

Thanks all for the pump recommendations. I'll have a think about it maybe closer to the time or if I see any special offers. weeonion, dd was at childminder's part-time from 4 months so she started early too.
Took a while to convince her to take a bottle but the CM was a real pro and got it sorted quickly. I must say it was great to have the best of both worlds and DD still breastfed loads until 14 months - hope you find that it works out well for you too and that your older daughter can give you a hand! I used to give my little sister a bottle when my mum was working and loved it (sister was still breastfeeding and refused to take it from mum).

Also need to get a new baby monitor because ours is on its last legs.

That's pretty much it though! Everything else can be recycled . There is so much bloody stuff to get with your first and we (I mostly) spent so long organising and weighing up and making lists etc. etc....it's actually a really nice feeling knowing that all of that legwork paid off in the long run. (Though because DD was not a planned baby, we were definitely not thinking about a second all the way back then!).

Mostly I'm just delighted that we don't have to do any buggy shopping, god what a pain in the arse that is! For the record we have an Uppababy Vista travel system which my parents kindly bought for us after getting a great trade discount on it. It is totally fabulous and so comfortable for a baby (and 2.5 year old DD had a lovely nap in it today on a walk) but it's definitely one for country living - not a city-friendly buggy at all. In fact I had to swear at it while wrestling it out the front door this afternoon - we have no porch space to speak of unfortunately.

Twiglet that pain doesn't sound great, it sounds all too familiar in fact. I got a support belt in Mothercare last pregnancy which did give some relief. Try an ice-pack also if you can. A hot water bottle will give lovely relief but in the long run apparently the cold will reduce the inflammation much more quickly. And take it easy!

Kantha · 17/07/2014 23:08

Pink girly thoughts: re the 3 year old in the cot. At this stage I would be inclined to roll with it and let him role play being a baby. I 'm assuming he's not damaging the cot. He should get tired of it before baby comes. I think it helps the older sibling if you let them still be the baby rather than emphasising how they are 'big' now.

TwigletFiend · 18/07/2014 09:55

Anna, what is your belt called please? Or what brand is it? Luckily my mum is a now-retired physio, but she specialised in ante-natal care so I am going down to visit her this weekend for some advice. She gave me some exercises to do via Skype last night and I feel a lot lot better this morning. I'm toying with the idea of asking her if she'll dig out her acupuncture stuff for pain relief during labour too - she has actually done it out of the ward where I'll be having Bean before, she I know they used to permit it. I'd quite like to give it a go!

Thanks Strawberry, I might see if I can go along and try some out. Glad you're getting your curtains sorted too, that would have upset me so you're not alone! I've decided to make my own curtains, but as I mentioned in my massive whinge the other day, still not sure which colour scheme/room to do them for. Getting really quite anxious about it all now, so the slightest hint of a problem with my few set ideas for the nursery makes me feel very wobbly!

haven't, that's what I thought. I think we might go for it.

Greenstone, I am a list maker too. I have a list of all my lists, in fact, to check that I don't forget anything and panic at the last minute! It's so hot at the moment too that the ice pack is a genius idea. I've sent DP out to work today with orders to pick up one of those squidgy gel ones at lunch time so I can mould it around my hip!

Alita7 · 18/07/2014 10:33

pinky sorry but I burst out laughing at you're little one and the cot!

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 18/07/2014 12:42

For those who need a decent support belt my physio recommeded this one and it has really helped: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B007K6CZOG/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 18/07/2014 12:47

I have been doing lots of pram research too and I'm very lucky that my MIL will be buying us an Uppababy Vista. As I (and DH) have back problems it is great as baby will be high up so wont be too awkard to reach down.

I have started pregancy yoga which is lovely and relaxing.

Not hugely impressed with baby furniture thats around - seems overpriced for not very sturdy stuff...the hunt continues.

As soon as I get my MatB1 form I will be writing to southeastrn trains so I can get a free seat in first class - fed up of standing for the journey with damn sciatica (luckily have improved enough to dump the crutches for now at least!)
