Hiya so this will probably be our last ante natal thread GrinGrin Really hope that our postnatal thread is as busy.
You ladies have been a great support, and it's been fab going through pregnancy with you all. I honestly don't know how I would have got through the last 6 weeks of 4am wakings without you.

I'm not due till 24th and have no signs baby is still coming early so will probably be the last one one here - don't forget me!

Anyway will love you and leave you - actually will now pop back onto our regular thread for a chat Smile

Happy birthing Thanks

blue that sounds good - I hope things properly kick off soon! Smile

Ive had runs of contractions all day and period type pains but not as regular or strong as last night! Reckon this could go on for a while unfortunately! Confused

MrsA2 · 13/07/2014 15:56

Just a quick update from me, back home with the pessary inserted. Have constant fairly bad period pains but definite peaks to them too which I'm wondering whether are contractions or just pessary pains. They start in my back and then under my bump. They are fairly frequent though but I can talk through them so thinking they may just be pessary side effects? Bloody painful if so though! Gone for a lie down and will see how they are after that. Might fire up the tens if they don't ease - paracetamol has done nothing.

The midwife inserting the pessary said it's unlikely this would tip my into labour on it's own as a first time mum so I should expect to need waters breaking and the drip tomorrow. So that's making me think it's probably just pessary pains too.

Baby is jumping around which isn't helping with the discomfort!

Plate I'm with you too on the nervousness. In all honesty, right now I'm shattered and the idea of having sleeplessness nights and feeding challenges with a newborn within the next couple of days is really not appealing - even though this was a much-wanted baby.

GrouchyKiwi · 13/07/2014 16:50

Losing track of everything I'm so tired. Hope that everyone who's got stuff happening/really wants stuff to happen is getting on well.

Wedding yesterday was lovely, but loads of standing around, so my poor feet looked like the Queen's (complete with her style of shoe because I can't fit anything else). DD didn't get to bed till after 10pm (really late for her) so has been pretty horrible today, though she did have a nap. DH is being magnificent and has taken her out so I don't have to deal.

Now that everything fun is out of the way I really want this baby to come now so have stocked up on necessities. Even going to go for a walk every day, despite the SPD. Fed up of swelling and heartburn and stuffy nose and being pummelled, and I just want to meet this little one. Feeling even more urgent about it as a friend who was due a week after me had her wee girl today. Still have (at least) two weeks to go, though, so know I'm being ridiculously optimistic.

MrsA2 · 13/07/2014 17:07

Definitely contractions now, have put tens on - well that's a bit of an odd sensation - and started timing. Not sure whether the normal timing rules apply with contractions with the pessary, guess once I know they are every 5 mins and a minute long I'll call labour ward for a chat just in case.

It's the dull pain in between them that's most irritating actually as I can't get comfortable enough to relax

icklekid · 13/07/2014 17:44

Good luck mrsa how exciting!

kiwi rest those poor feet!

ipsum hope things move quickly!

I need to get better at sleeping when baby sleeps! Dh has been out for hours as has baby (on between feeds and nappy changes) and whilst I have rested not really slept- sure a couple more sleepless nights will change that!

GrouchyKiwi · 13/07/2014 17:55

Oooh, good luck MrsA!

mummytobejuly2014 · 13/07/2014 18:49

zing or any other experienced mummies; been losing clear jelly all day & strongsih period cramps that stop me but i can talk through. jelly had a streak in it one point. have had to put a pad on as i feel so gross & soggy. loose bowels this morn. went a walk round two shops at outlet & struggled to walk far, felt like i was guna wet myself the whole time from the pressure. OH is begging me to hold on til match is over & im not allowed to move incase i encourage it sooner. my vision has gone quite blurry, not sure it this os tiredness as i feel ok. is this all the start of early labour? (am 2 days overdue)

GrouchyKiwi · 13/07/2014 19:53

Sounds like things have indeed started. Kick your OH and tell him that baby is more important than the football and he'll just have to cope. Grin

Re blurry vision: I remember feeling very out of it so wouldn't be too surprised if that's another symptom of labour.

If things get stronger there's nothing you can really do to stop it and I don't advise trying to do so. Plus you'll probably get to a point where you NEED to move because it's all so bloody painful.

Hope all goes well.

BlueC2 · 13/07/2014 20:02

mummy sounds like it! though how bad is your vision? Have you timed the pains? Try to have a lie down and rest during the match to see if your vision improves but otherwise think you should give triage a call about that.

Woohoo mrsa so glad pessary seems to be doing it's stuff...I think in terms of timing they should follow the same pattern as usual as my understanding is that the pessary is just to kick start your body into doing it's thing.

ickle I found it difficult to sleep and rest properly in the first few days, think hormones don't help with that but then there's the big crash into baby blues at day 5 which is fun! I used to just cry randomly at anything and everything and was suddenly exhausted and could sleep whenever!

kiwi hope it all starts soon for you but not until you've recovered from the weekend!

ips I feel your frustration!

So I'm battling in myself not to utterly lose the will with this stop start labour!! Had v painful minute long contractions all day but ranging from 20 to 10 minutes apart with no consistency. Was hoping it'd all just pick up again this evening once DS in bed but not so far. Just really fed up with the are we / aren't we nature of this and worried I'll then leave it too late to fill the pool, call the MW etc. Grrrr...

BlueC2 · 13/07/2014 20:04

Ps mummy agree with kiwi your DH will just have to manage and miss the football if needed!!

mummytobejuly2014 · 13/07/2014 20:39

vision finally cleared now. no idea what was going on but it was scary. had a small dinner to try get carbs in me & a 7up. bouncing on the ball at mo to try help the cramps, tempted to go for a bath & a shower to wash hair so if we do end up in hosp overnight im half clean to begin with.all cramps are belly button and below,is that normal? would love it all to happen over night & have new baby in morn so dont have to tell anyone during labour as they'll be txn all night wanting updates

BlueC2 · 13/07/2014 20:58

Glad vision cleared mummy bath or shower would be good anyway as will help relax you with the pain and give added 'clean' bonus! Belly button and below sounds right, all the work at this stage is opening your cervix so definitely down below... Have you got any back pain as well? Labouring overnight is nice (I did it with DS) as no distractions.

AuntieMaggie · 13/07/2014 21:27

mummy please call triage and tell them about the blurry vision - may be nothing but its one thing they kept asking me about when I was in hospital

GrouchyKiwi · 13/07/2014 21:54

How are you getting on, mummy?

Can you ladies remind me whether itchy nipples is one of the signs of labour being close? Or is it just another of those annoying pregnancy things?

Suspecting I'm stretching... Grin

Incapinka · 13/07/2014 22:06

I've had seriously itchy nipples through most of this pregnancy. I didn't First time round but this time it is though they remember what they will be asked to do!

BlueC2 · 13/07/2014 23:05

Given up on the football and come to bed to try and sleep but contractions keeping me awake, not a bad thing though. But also had text from a friend to say her 7 month old been in intensive care since Thursday after having two seizures totally out of the blue and now on breathing equipment as can't breathe by himself :( :( friend and her DH understandably in bits at the moment and I'd love to go and see them but too far for me to travel at the moment :( Docs can't work out what's wrong either and he seems to be getting worse rather thn better :( Certainly puts my frustrations with labour into perspective!!

mummytobejuly2014 · 13/07/2014 23:24

everything quietened for now here. guna try sleep but know as soon as i hit mattress it will likely kick off. thanks for everyones advice/thoughts :)

icklekid · 14/07/2014 00:30

Good luck mummy and blue

One fast asleep baby on me! It's all worth it ladies!

MrsA2 · 14/07/2014 01:02

Sorry for not reading and replying, I'll catch up tomorrow, but just a very quick update to say we had a daughter at 9.24 this evening. It ended up being a little more dramatic than we'd hoped for both we're all doing brilliantly now so that's all that matters.

Once we're up and running I'll be back with more details, good luck to everyone else imminent. It's wonderful and I've already forgotten most of the trickier parts.

BlueC2 · 14/07/2014 01:12

Woohoo mrsa that did go fast! Hope to follow suit soon :)

NancyinCali · 14/07/2014 01:20

Congrats mrsa!! Enjoy those newborn snuggles.

Now my birthday is done my little miss is welcome to join the July party any time she likes... I know it would be ideal to wait until my DM is here to look after DD but I'm ready now!

mummytobejuly2014 · 14/07/2014 01:46

wakened with the pains. have retreated downstairs to sofa/ball. have told OH i'll come get him if need be. prob little chance of sleep

icklekid · 14/07/2014 02:22

mrsa huge congratulations do you have a name yet? Enjoy your cuddles and we can share horrific birth stories if you wish!

mummy good luck, fingers crossed!

NancyinCali · 14/07/2014 03:27

Good luck mummy!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday · 14/07/2014 03:29

Congratulations mrsa!

Good luck mummy - I was also asked about blurry vision while in labour as I got a bit of a headache at one point so do ring triage if it happens again.

I tried to post multiple times yesterday as we had a textbook terrible day as my milk came in and my hormones went crazy - Leo started refusing one of my breasts, I had to hand express for ages and try lots of positions to get him to latch - and all this after the MW told us we needed to get as much into him as possible :(

However we seemed to crack it about midnight and he then slept for 3 hours and is feeding well again now, so hopefully he's got used to the extra milk and flow. Cannot recommend the Breastfeeding Helpline more - the volunteer there was great at calming me down and offering practical solutions when I tearily described what was happening.
