Fox and all who are still pg - try and enjoy all the things you can before baby's out, such as going to the loo when you want to, not holding it in because you are still feeding and dare not to move!
Snow - TT buddy, I spoke to a friend of mine who is a bf consultant, she said there are ways to teach & encourage babies to exercise their tongues.
They have been sucking in the amniotic fluid (eek) for 9 months, so all that time they had no ways of using their tongues correctly.
Once the op is done, they need to re-learn what to do.
So - when baby is looking at you stick your tongue out a fair few times (I get all the kids to do this too) - baby is hopefully going to copy you.
Another one is to put your little finger in his mouth and gently press down on the tongue (say half an inch from the tip of the tongue) - then keeping that slight pressure try and slide your finger out, while he will hopefully follow your finger and stick his tongue out.
what it teaches baby is to curl his tongue around your finger and chase it as you pull it out. It will strengthen the muscles and it's the same movement he needs to do to express the milk.
And as before I highly recommend cranial osteopathy, again as he wasn't using his tongue correctly in the womb, the jaws and palate are probably not as well- developed as should have been, one or two session can make a massive difference!
(I live in Surrey, I can PM you details of my osteopath, who is just fantastic.
Or if you happy to PM me where you live he might be able recommend someone, if you need )
Good luck for tomorrow.
