Hiya so this will probably be our last ante natal thread GrinGrin Really hope that our postnatal thread is as busy.
You ladies have been a great support, and it's been fab going through pregnancy with you all. I honestly don't know how I would have got through the last 6 weeks of 4am wakings without you.

I'm not due till 24th and have no signs baby is still coming early so will probably be the last one one here - don't forget me!

Anyway will love you and leave you - actually will now pop back onto our regular thread for a chat Smile

Happy birthing Thanks

Collie - that's perfect poo!
Yellow mustardy colour is what a bf baby's poo should look like - if you change him as he does one it will look quite wet , especially if he does a wee at the same time.
(if you change him a while after a poo the nappy would have absorbed some of the liquid)

Once the meconium is finished and poo colour settled on mustard, colours you have to worry about are black, white or green (that is until they start on solids)

So yay, he is doing great! Do you also see little whitish/yellowish bits that look like sesame seeds?
If you do that's perfect. That's how his poop should look like

ZingGoesPop · 25/07/2014 08:17

Howly - I recommend having sex soon after sweep.
I swear that's the best combo - 50% chance of labour starting/baby being born within 48 hours, IF the cervix is favourable/ripe and sweep could be done.

I actually had one of them within 12 hours from sweep, but I was 9 days over due and it was my 5th baby.

But even with DS3 he was born within 48 hours - having had 2 before who had to be induced it was very much unexpected!

Good luck today - come on babies, we want to meet you!
And whoever is born on Sunday will share their birthday with DS1 (he'll be 13!)

MrsA2 · 25/07/2014 09:38

Plate, good luck today. The pessary alone got me into labour so I avoided the drip. I did end up with EMCS but circumstances meant that would have ultimately happened whatever labour I'd had, so unrelated to induction, and actually the CS was completely fine and I'm recovering well anyway. Lovely that your NCT buddy is there too.

Hayley, I would be equally frustrated if my Mum was sorting through my cupboards!

Zing, DD spent her first five days falling asleep during feeds. We tried everything with limited success - passing to Dad, nappy changes, rubbing her cheek and circling her arm while she was latched on, tickling toes, rubbing little hands, blowing on her cheeks. I think she was just shattered in those early days and in time, with milk in her belly, she started to stay awake longer. In the meantime I was expressing and feeding her through a syringe while in hospital (just make sure she is sucking well on your finger before putting any syringed milk into her). Glad you are back home.

Emily what a nightmare with your plumbing, sounds like moving in with Mum might be a good plan.

Auntie, sounds like your DH is struggling to adjust but do try to get him to help you - nappies at least are an easy job he should be doing. The longer he doesn't help, the less confident he will be and you so need a break for a shower and food if nothing else. Sounds tough.

AuntieMaggie · 25/07/2014 09:41

Thank you ladies. Normally he doesn't shy away from doing nappies and has been good with housework and things but just really upset me that he assumes he can go and do what he wants and not even have a conversation with me about who will look after the baby. I still feel shit so I wouldn't be lying about almost passing out because the tablets I'm on make me feel funny anyway.

zing what benefit do you see with cranial osteopathy?

I've had barely any sleep as ds has been awake pretty much every hour since 3 am but he has started making some really cute baby sounds and smiles which I know is probably wind but cheers me up anyway.

nancy the HV meant leaving ds to cry until he stops/soothes himself not just for 5 mins to work out what he wants. But 10 mins whilst I was on the loo this morning he was still screaming and only getting more distressed!

MrsA2 · 25/07/2014 09:56

Auntie - sorry I forgot to say thank you for the pram article, that's scary. My pram can unzip at the back too to let air in so I think I'll only use a thin muslin to cover the small area the sun hits (I wouldn't drape it all over the front) and only when the back is open and the sun really warrants it. It's fine when we stop as I put her in the shade but it's what to do when walking that is so tricky.

Emilybunny · 25/07/2014 09:57

I'm hoping no news from plate means something is happening - good luck!

Hayley - I just think men don't understand what's it's like to grow a baby and be a mum... Maybe your DH isn't trying to be selfish it's just that he just doesn't understand. I think the suggestions above sound good, maybe you guys need to find a way to sit down and talk, is there someone who can help out with the baby for 20/30 mins or make you both some food or is this totally unrealistic?

X

Emilybunny · 25/07/2014 10:00

Oops! That should have said Auntie not Hayley!!!

Howly · 25/07/2014 13:44

The midwife didn't manage a sweep today as cervix closed at the back still!!! She did manage to massage my cervix Hmm and say it was soft!! Baby head is still engaged and she is in a perfect position with a strong heart beat so that is good!

I really want to avoid induction so fingers crossed she come soon!! Time is ticking!

ZingGoesPop · 25/07/2014 14:00

MrsA - that's it, that's the problem, no matter what I do he just can't keep awake for feeds. Then halfway between last feed and next feed he wales up, looks around for 10 mins or burps and sleeps again.

I never had a baby like this. I'm reluctant to say I miss the crying because it's been nice and quiet here, but I actually wish he cried more and was properly wanting food.

I just don't know why he is so sleepy, unless of course he now has enough from the top ups so he isn't hungry.
And that's my worry. H

mupperoon · 25/07/2014 14:02

Hope you're doing well Plate!

Howly that's encouraging news! Was the massage uncomfortable or actually painful?

I'm booked for a sweep on Monday (will be 39+6) and very much hoping there's signs of progress. Eating a lot of chilli-based food which is giving me serious heartburn. And dates. So bored of dates.

Lovely cooling wind and rain here at the moment. My beloved ordered an aircon yesterday so obviously we've ruined the weekend weather for London.

ZingGoesPop · 25/07/2014 14:30

Auntie - I can't explain all the benefits of cranial osteopathy, but by gently manipulating the cranial plates a lot of problems can be identified and sorted.
Some babies cry constantly because of pressure of the plates on brain create the sensation of constant hunger.

Some have uneven shaped heads - as the plates might be overlapping or squashed a bit it's relatively easy to "put them back where they belong".

Or there might be a slight damage from forceps or ventouse delivery which can be corrected.

Or in DD's case it was discovered that she had an unusually highly arched soft palate that prevented her from being able to sufficiently bf.
By helping the jaw bones to settle into their right place through the connections of the cranium this was corrected.

And so on...

Babies who hiccup a lot are very likely to have some sort of tightness/overlapping of cranial plates - hiccuping is the body trying to sort itself out by giving a little jolt to pop things "open".

I really am not an expert though.
The way I understand it is if you have tight, cramping muscles causing you pain a good massage (or a few) will sort them out.
Cranial osteopathy will do that for the cranial plates.

I personally think all babies should have a check up anyway, just to make sure everything is in the right place.
DS1 was forceps delivery and it was an obvious thing to check if everything is fine with him, then I took all of ours around 3 weeks old after that.

GrouchyKiwi · 25/07/2014 14:49

Hope all is going well with Plate.

Went for a short walk with DH last night - just to the supermarket and back. It was definitely more of a waddle than a walk, and the further we went the harder it got. I think baby moved down a fair amount during the walk because dude, bowling ball!

Everything is still quiet. Went shopping today with MIL and I'm sure when people asked when I was due they became worried I was going to pop the baby out there and then!

I've got a sweep booked on Tuesday. DD was born the night before I had my first sweep booked with her so fingers crossed for the same thing!

Howly · 25/07/2014 15:25

mupperoon it was uncomfortable but not painful, I had to take a couple of deep breathes to make sure I relaxed fully but I would say a smear test hurts more!! I bled a little after but that's all it was fine!

Emilybunny · 25/07/2014 16:37

Do you have to wait until 40 weeks for a sweep? How do they decide when to do it.. I'm 39+1 and so impatient.. Keep imagining it will be another 3 weeks :(

Howly · 25/07/2014 17:17

Emilybunny Where I live they offer it at your 40 week midwife appt. I have been so impatient for weeks and the best thing you can do is just try to occupy yourself; meet friends, go window shopping, go for walks, read books, knit something... That's what's getting me through, just taking my mind off the baby!!

AuntieMaggie · 25/07/2014 17:18

Thanks zing my osteopath recommended it but I don't know anyone that's done it to know if it's worth it.

Plateofcrumbs · 25/07/2014 19:19

We have a baby!!! A little boy called Joshua, who is the most gorgeous thing.

Labour was a bit of an ordeal, will give details when I'm slightly less dazed. But already over it and head over heels in love!
