Geeky with all the stress of the scan etc and your upcoming wedding I am not suprised you haven't thought sbout other stuff, at least you get another scan this week!

freneticfox · 28/07/2014 18:57

Geeky you're not alone in not having embraced it yet.. I'm so tired/nauseated/bloated/worried et al that I'm already firmly saying to DH that I won't be doing this again, and I'm only 12w! I hope I feel differently at some point, but I'm physically and mentally dreading the next six months!

Frenetic if I felt like this in first 10 weeks of pregnancy I would never, ever have done it again! I don't even think I could have carried on with pregnancy first time round, hoping you improve soon

JacktheLab · 28/07/2014 19:13

I can honestly say that you will forget about all the hassle by the time all the babies are here, I really struggle to remember all the details from last time round - might be my age too though!

I'm doing a fairly good effort of persuading ds that this entertaining while I have some horizontal time onthe sofa this evening Wink

Memphisbelly · 28/07/2014 19:15

Jackthelab totally agree, we will be saying 'oh that 9 months wasn't so bad' Grin
Saw my friend today who is 6 months pg and I am bigger than her! Shock

GeekyHybrid · 28/07/2014 19:18

Thanks guys. And I do hope it starts getting better soon for you frenetic, I should at least be grateful the nausea has eased off. Right. Positive thinking. Just made a few calls / done emails re: wedding. Now, must tidy / sort house for imminent mother / sister arrival.
Jack horizontal sofa time sounds good, enjoy!

Davidtennantmistress · 28/07/2014 19:42

Hi all found you again I've got the terrible hormone rages coming on, prob as I'm slowly stopping my royal jelly, my poor poor family!

Our scan is through for two weeks and I'm 10 weeks now, still knicker checking regularly, and not quite wanting to believe it, I do feel a bit disengaged and detached from things, which is sad as I know this is our last pregnancy.

Thought abut names today hubs has kira Beatrix and Freya I like the last two. No boys as of yet though. We have two boys already so maybe trickier for a boys,

Memphisbelly · 28/07/2014 19:43

David oooh I love Beatrix!

Rozbos · 28/07/2014 20:43

I did about of hypnobirthing with my second - went slightly out of the window with my first! I found it really helpful, definitely kept me calm. I've had two home births as well though so maybe I'm a closet hippy! Wink

Viperama · 28/07/2014 21:03

My bestie had a baby in March with hypno and it was the best labour story I've heard. She's a pretty chilled person though so I think it wouldn't work for all. There were points that they were cracking up during labour at the craziness of it all. I want that too!

I think we have our names, Isabella Grace and Giorgio Nelson. DP is Italian so we want cross over names, they don't do middle names in italy so I've been given free reign with those. Had to go single syllable with girls as first is so long, and boys I want Scottish, but can't find anything we both like, then mr Mandela popped into my head and I thought what a lovely role model, so think we'll go with nelson unless something better comes up. Either way this baby is going to be kick ass Grin

BanglesSpangles · 28/07/2014 21:04

Now this is probably a vaguely insignificant question about home births, but humour me!- who on earth cleans up all the mess?!

Viperama · 28/07/2014 21:05

Rozbos I'd love a home birth but my flat is so small there'd be no peace!

Rozbos · 28/07/2014 21:18

Bangles, the midwives clean it all up! Seriously, mess free! X

BanglesSpangles · 28/07/2014 21:29

God that is so obvious now you say it! I had visions of a dp, rubber gloves and a bucket of bleach!

Memphisbelly · 28/07/2014 21:39

Really Roz? My niece gave birth at home 4 months ago and they just threw all the towels and sheets into the bath for her to sort after! My sister ended up having to mop and do the washing for them.

JacktheLab · 28/07/2014 21:43

I sort of would have liked to have had a home birth last time but DH said absolutely not, so that was the end of that!

I think I want to be back in the labour ward I was in last time this time, so I have the theatre close by if we need it.

An antenatal friend had a water birth at home, I remember her being concerned about where her husband was going to drain away the pool contents!

Catching up with one born every minute, not a brilliant idea with me hormones as they are!

Memphisbelly · 28/07/2014 21:48

Jack I am watching long lost family, way too emotional!
I want a ward birth, ( which is lucky as I have to have a NICU and a Cardiac unit on standby for me and two of my consultants) I like the idea that people can't drop by as soon as baby pops out and that I can eat toast and drink tea all night if I want too (toast tastes like the food of the gods after childbirth for some reason!)

freneticfox · 28/07/2014 22:25

Memphis I sure hope so too. A lot of people say 12 weeks is a myth, which is a shame as I'm 12 weeks tomorrow. I really hope some down time is going to help me though.

Sending lots of positive vibes that we all start feeling better soon. I honestly can't remember feeling this bad last time but also can't remember what food worked for me. I was veggie last time but breast feeding got me back on the meat!

I also had a home birth Roz! We got a bit of help with clearing up but DP at time did some too. Unfortunately, having managed a home birth, I then went into hospital! Actually prob quite good to avoid clearing up!

This time am thinking poss in hospital but there's a midwife unit with a swing(!) so could be good!

Lovely name suggestions going on, my head can't get there yet. I think I'm about to move into heartburn phase - bring on the gaviscon!

Bangonthedoor · 28/07/2014 23:48

Gosh I'm joining late but just found you ladies Smile

Currently due 6th February but having my scan on Thursday so expecting the date to change slightly. This will be our 2nd and the last! Grin

Reading the posts it all sounds like we are feeling the same...I really don't remember feeling this way first time round! Maybe we're just tired and struggling because we have extra children to care for now? I promised myself I'd embrace every moment of this pregnancy as it will be the last time I do it...not really much embracing gone on so far!

Viperama · 29/07/2014 06:26

Help I've woken up to a menstral like ache this morning. I know things are shifting over to placenta now...is this normal? No blood so far. But I'm travelling to Bristol from London for the day today for work, not ideal!

GeekyHybrid · 29/07/2014 07:04

Fingers crossed viper that it's just another ache / pain / symptom to add to what seems an endless list! I seem to be all moody / hormonal again. Hopefully once scan is done on Wednesday, wedding is over etc.. I'll start relaxing.

donkir · 29/07/2014 07:30

Morning everyone. Sorry some are still feeling rotten sending love to you all.
Viper I have had days where I've had period like cramps it's just everything stretching and moving.
The day has finally come and have scan this morning. I should be so excited like I was with ds but I'm petrified something bad is going to happen and I know I have no reason to feel like this but I've waited 12yrs to have another child everything just seems too good to be true. Fingers crossed.

Bimberley · 29/07/2014 07:50

Good luck donkir! Everything will be fine :) I know what you mean about feeling it's too good to be true.
I've woken up with a backache and tight belly. But I suffer with kidney problems so hoping my pains are related to them. Will be drinking lots and lots of water today!

Memphis.. Yes the toast after birth is amazing!! We will be having hospital birth again. I would like a water birth this time.
Hope you all have a good day. Not much going on here today.

Memphisbelly · 29/07/2014 08:32

I have been up ill think I have a bug so taken ds to nursery and having day in bed/on the toilet.
Hope you all have a good day
