Hi cactusnic - thanks for that. I am low risk (which is why I thought they might skip the NT test). I think I will wait until next week when I will be 10 weeks and if I've heard nothing I will call my GP and ask when I will hear about my NT test and 12 week scan...

freneticfox · 23/07/2014 13:23

I think it's time to get sized for a new bra... wondered why I was getting funny looks this morning, went to the loo and realised my nips were poking out over the top of my bra.

Yep, denial time is over.

Memphisbelly - thanks, that's what I hope will happen to me too. I think I'm being unduly paranoid...

Memphisbelly · 23/07/2014 13:47

Frenetic I need decent bras I bought one, just put a summer dress on and the bra/boob situation is so big now it just engulfs the dress, It is horrific!

freneticfox · 23/07/2014 13:49

Yeah, I kind of buried my head in the sand while I was off sick with wearing sports-type bras, but since being back at work Monday, I'm noticing a definite 'overspill'!!!

Speaking of work, having some issues, they really are fighting to be as unhelpful as possible to compromise on making work better for my disability and pregnancy combined. They requested writing to my GP for confirmation that I am ACTUALLY suffering! My GP said that the law is on my side and any information they supply can be checked by me first so I am protected.

I'm so upset and disappointed with how I'm being treated :(

Frenetic this is itterly shit of the, and also very dangerous for them if you feel victimised go to CAB and grt advice, they will crap themselves at your work because it is frowned upon so much to discriminate against disabilties and pregnant staff

MrsCK · 23/07/2014 18:01

Hiya! Haven't posted in an age I'm so sorry! Had my 12 week scan today. Any gender thoughts?

LittleMissSunshine33 · 23/07/2014 19:32

Aww Frentic must be horrid but you're definitely more protected by law being pregnant eg they have to honor appointments and time off due to pregnancy etc but def seek advise! Totally agree on the boob spillage though lol!

Question ... What is NT?

thingsarelookingup · 23/07/2014 19:55

Frenetic that is rubbish. I really hope the come to their senses and realise they can't get away with treating you like that.

I've also started looking at maternity clothes. I do have a bit of a bump but I'm mainly just trying to get stuff now while I'm on holidays because I have no spare time or energy for anything during the academic year.

One great tip I discovered last time was a bump band which is basically a stretch of fabric that goes over your middle to cover up if your tops don't quite reach your trousers (or if your trousers are undone) so you don't flash belly in normal clothes. I also had a special extra button so you can expand your trousers and still do them up. I don't know if that makes any sense.

Epic post today and still want to scroll back and answer some questions Smile

thingsarelookingup · 23/07/2014 20:01

Frenetic I really hope these meds work for you. That must be awful. I'm struggling with just the exhaustion. I'm hoping I might be starting to turn the corner with that now at 10 weeks. Let's see how things go over the next few days.

And London thanks for the reminder about kegels. I've just done 10 for the first time this pregnancy. I think I'll aim for 10 each day from now. Such a simple thing but boy does it make a difference.

thingsarelookingup · 23/07/2014 20:04

And welcome march. I got my nt scan booked by my mw at my booking in appt so I would definitely say call if you still haven't heard by next week. Do you have the number for the hospital that will be doing the scan because I think that would be better than calling your gp. I have a direct number for the obstetric ultrasound reception on my blue book.

freneticfox · 23/07/2014 20:12

Thank you all for the well wishes; I heard that some people have a peak of symptoms weeks 9-11 so maybe it's just getting worse before getting better?

I don't know how the HG gals do it. Nausea alone is tiring enough.

Little miss NT is looking for downs screening. (i think)

I have found that have company who do the 3d scans are doing half price offer on gender scan, most will do it from 16 weeks but they say from 20 so im going to call and see if they will do it earlier...if not I have found one a few miles away that will....just need to convince dh, My gut says a girl, ds only wants a boy, dh also thinks a girl.

MarchEliza · 23/07/2014 20:43

Thingsarelookingup - yes, I've got the hospital's number so will call there next week if have heard nothing - I sort of expected it to be booked at the booking appointment too so will check Smile.

Yup Littlemiss, NT - the Nuchal Translucency test measures the foetus' septum and neck to detect early signs of Downs Syndrome. You can get it done between 11 & 13 weeks and 6 days, but not after.

Memphisbelly · 23/07/2014 21:03

March one thing my sonographer said is if the baby is in the wrong position then they don't see it as a problem and wouldn't re scan to get a better picture and normally just go by bloods anyway. Try mot to worry

GeekyHybrid · 23/07/2014 21:09

March - I'd keep chasing though I'm 12 weeks on Saturday and still haven't heard from ante-natal dept about my '12 week' dating scan! I'm not having NT as my age (38) means the 'chances' are fairly high anyway no matter what the NT 'measurement'. I chased on Monday and was told I'd get a call that day or tomorrow. I'm going to chase them again tomorrow. NHS can be so frustrating at times. I ended up breaking down and paying (£39) for a private scan, was worth it as now confident about telling people on my hen night, which is this Friday :-D

Other updates. I'm definitely going to have to break down and buy some maternity trousers for work as my uniform ones are getting well tight by mid afternoon. Again, feel confident enough to do so now. Gained 4kg whilst 'eating through' the MS, oops. Luckily the boobs are only up 1 size, considering I'm already a DD it's not that noticeable, yet. Fingers crossed.

And excitingly, just booked out honeymoon, to the Azores!! OH found an amazing online deal so we've snapped it up. Going to need a holiday after stress of 1st trimester / organising wedding etc..

LittleMissSunshine33 · 23/07/2014 21:43

Ah Ofcourse thank you ladies I am opting to have mine at my 12 week scan which I got through today is 4th August Eeek!

I got maternity trousers at 8/9 weeks lol my trousers were tight anyway so didn't want to squash my tummy but thought well at least I can grow with them haha! Note to self don't eat for two!! Eat for three instead Wink

Bimberley · 24/07/2014 08:03

Morning everyone! Feeling very pregnant today! I'm exhausted. 12+3 today. Have my scan tomorrow! 11.55! So excited but so nervous. DH may be able to get out of work to come with me, so I'm happy I'm not going alone.
Have a good day all!

hanflan · 24/07/2014 09:01

MrsCK lovely scan pic, glad it went well! Looks like a boy to me :)

freneticfox · 24/07/2014 10:25

I actually slept for more than a couple of hours last night! I still got up a fair few times to pee, but it was an improvement on the half-hour stints of sleep before retching woke me up. Not going to get too hopeful that it's a corner turned, but I'm just really grateful for one decent night!

11+2 today

LittleMissSunshine33 · 24/07/2014 17:02

Oh no one day into my Summer holidays and I'm already looking at things I shouldn't! I was merrily looking at 12 weeks scan pictures online where I came across the 'nub' theory DO NOT LOOK IT UP IF YOU DONT WANT TO KNOW THE SEX OF YOUR BABY!! I didn't want to know but now think I will be looking for at on my 12 week scan! I hope I can't see! Silly me!! Blush

Memphisbelly · 24/07/2014 17:11

Mrsck I also predict a boy for you now I have finally got on desktop and seen pic!

Little miss I am certain I am having a girl I can sed whar sonographers call 'the burger shot'

thingsarelookingup · 24/07/2014 19:04

Argh pregnancy brain truly hit today. Took DS to the aquarium, arrived (after an epic bus journey that crawled for almost 2 hours) to realise that I had completely forgotten my pin number. I had no cash and I still haven't remembered it. I've had to order a new one to be sent. Thankfully they took a manual credit card payment instead so I still managed to get in but only had 90p to my name all afternoon so couldn't buy DS any treats!

To top it off I got inside to find only 1 toilet near the entry, I reasoned that there must be more not too far in given that it's packed and a family place but boy was I wrong. I had to make a swift return and a nerve wracking 10 minute queue for the 1 toilet with a newly toilet trained toddler.

On the way home I tried to go to the paddling pool only to find it closed. It really wasn't my day. I hope you've all had a better time!

Memphisbelly · 24/07/2014 20:17

Thingsarelookingup...wow what a day you have had! i couldn't add up all day and one patronising woman said I think you should write it down I don't want you over charging me....this on top of a drunk man taking a dump in the shop doorway next door in broard daylight today has finished me off and am going up to chill in bed with the ipad as dh is away!

GeekyHybrid · 24/07/2014 20:23

Yay for a decent nights sleep frenetic, here's hoping for another one for you tonight.

Tried to chase my scan again today, got through to the lady who is going to be my midwife. Meeting with her on Monday and hopefully in the meantime she'll be able to sort something. Fingers crossed.
