If you have a low salt diet then up that too. O used to get terrible cramp all the time and so upped my salt and it totally dissapeared. Damn pregnancy for making it come back (not nearly as often or as bad as before)!

tak1ngchances · 10/07/2014 11:09

First day of 3rd trimester today! Smile

It has been thus far not an overly pleasant start to trimester 3 with nausea, churning stomach and diarrhoea. Am lying down and wishing it was a Saturday. I'll be dialling into meetings AGAIN

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 10/07/2014 12:24

Sparkle i get that too, its so painful! I find if i straighten my leg & point my toes upwards just as i amstarting to feel the cramp it goes away before it starts. It feels a bit counter intuitive but it does work!

LondonJen · 10/07/2014 13:04

Man that test sounds harsh. Sorry to hear it and wise words to take tasty treats for after to all those yet to have it.

PILs left this morning. Is anyone else planning to leave their baby outside for long periods of the day?! Am so tired of hearing about how babies used to sleep outside in the front garden and do we not want a cover for the pram to stop cats getting in when our poor kid is parked outside in the snow whilst the neighbours report me for neglect Confused Grin

mum2kiss · 10/07/2014 13:35

A friend of mine was forced to leave her young baby outside in the pushchair by her dh and mil...It may be totally unrelated but he was sooooo ill for weeks after that my poor friend felt so guilty! Maybe you should suggest they they take naps outside with the baby and see how they like it!

Kirstipops · 10/07/2014 13:48

Sleeping outside is a thing as well then?? Jeez every day is a school day with this preggo lark, hadn't heard of that either, maybe because I live in the west of Scotland so not really conducive to much outdoor napping! I do love napping on the beach on holiday, I think the lulling sound of the waves is a big part of that though.

Pregnantagain7 · 10/07/2014 14:22

Hi all, just back from my gtt things not looking great my fasting blood sugar ( the finger prick) was a bit higher than it should be. I'm really high risk for it anyway but somehow managed to escape it on my last pregnancy I kind of hoped the same thing would happen again.
I know I shouldn't moan as people have to deal with it all their lives and have much worse things to cope with, but it's made me feel a bit :(
Will find out tomorrow have a number to call if not heard by lunchtime. Dp talking me out for dinner tonight not very responsible but am looking on it as a last supper!!
I remember how hard the diet was last time so not looking forward to that, also would mean an induction at 38 weeks so the baby would here in 11 and half weeks. At least it's made me get my bum into gear am starting to get organised with baby stuff.

ohthegoats · 10/07/2014 15:22

Pregnant - maybe the heartburn will limit your diet anyway? My GTT was alright, but now I've got the burn so badly that there is no way I'm eating any sugar voluntarily! Or fat. Or anything fun. Actually, that's a bit of a lie, the icecream thing is still a 'thing' but eating much, much less of the fun stuff. Plain veg after 3pm only.

The sleeping outdoors thing is from the 40s and 50s I think.

Pregnantagain7 · 10/07/2014 15:53

goats yeah maybe but to be honest it's the lack of carbs more than the lack of sugar that's hard for me. If you are really struggling with heartburn your gp will give you stronger antacids omaprazole (sp) is amazing stuff totally gets rid of it and is safe to use also another one which you can buy over the counter but they won't give it to a pregnant woman but your gp will prescribe it (totally ridiculous) or send dp in for it, called something like ranitidine is really good too.

Pregnantagain7 · 10/07/2014 15:56

Oh and the sleeping outside thing was really good for dd1 she loved being in her Moses basket outside the kitchen door, however she was born in April. Not a chance I will be putting this one outside it will bloody freeze!!

crazycatwoman · 10/07/2014 15:56

Hello ladies, I've been sort of following the threads but not posted yet. I'm due early Oct with my second, but will probably be delivered late Sept due to gestational diabetes (started up straight away this time which meant that I didn't need the GTT). Thought I'd say hi.

Pregnantagain7 · 10/07/2014 16:12

Hi crazycatwoman gd from the start must have been really hard! feel bad for moaning now!!
I'm due 13 oct but possible earlier if test comes back positive tomorrow this is dc4 for me.

STIGZ · 10/07/2014 18:27

Is anyone else getting horrendous trapped wind & bloating after eating? ... I have tried lots of things to shift it but it just starts as soon as i eat again!! Actually putting me off eating as its so uncomfortable!!

Any miracle cure i dont know about?

YellowWellies · 10/07/2014 18:36

I used to live in Finland where it's normal for babies to nap outside. Even in -35c. Cold honestly doesn't give babies colds or bugs. That's bacteria and viruses. As long as they are wrapped up in a cosy pram suit in the winter babies actually sleep much better outside. Sounds crazy!

Omeprazole rocks. DS is on it and it saved our sanity from reflux hell.

Leg cramps - I find a wee glass of tonic water (has to be Schweppes's as that's the only one with quinine in) is magic!

fedupofrainydays · 10/07/2014 18:57

Sooooo tired. Feeling like an old obese person walking around at the moment. Constantly tired and out of breath and a bit creaky. I'm only 32!

I use windeeze for trapped wind stigz but that only helps with the after. Is it certain foods it gets worse with?

Feel sick. Promised client would get them something today and have t finished it :( need to put ds to bed then finish it when all I want to do is go to bed

I was in Norway in March (very cold) & witnessed babies in prams sleeping outside, I also remember my Granny talking about it regarding my Mum.

Pregnant sorry hear to hear that you may not pass the GTT, completely get how you must be feeling; was really upset when I did not pass the pre gtt screening test they do here. Slightly jealous that you had a finger prick test for the fasting.

MrsDino- might be optimistic to go back to school; didnt feel completely right until the evening of the following day. Felt that mind was not comprehending everything, though DH said my talk was logical... Am a secondary teacher and would not have gone back into school after the test, if I had been working- the risk of something happening to the children combined with poor delayed reactions from me, would be just the opportunity for Sod's law and something bad to happen. But thats just my take on it- I have bad reactions anyway to blood taking and vaccines and have taught a number of high risk pupils- medically and behaviourally. Hope it goes ok for you.

Bumpforme2014 · 10/07/2014 19:54

I feel sad today, my sister had her 12 week scan and downs test came back 1:40 so high risk. She has to wait two weeks now to find out, I know it might all be okay but it's so scary and I feel extra sad being pregnant myself. Anyone know anybody who had this risk level and turned out okay?

YellowWellies · 10/07/2014 20:24

Bump I don't know anyone with that high a risk who had the test done. But theoretically 39 out of every 40 women who get that result have a baby without downs so (easy to say!) its still a relatively low risk. Good luck to her.

I'm sorry Bump I hope it will be OK.

Q for any ladies with c-section scar, is it aching/sore? My scar has started to feel tender & painful on the outside, freaking me out a little. It is pretty sensitive to touch over the last few days. Should have said to MW yesterday but was more concerned about wether my BP would be elevated.
My little bub has turned from head down to transverse in last 2 days, wee blighter! Wondering if that is stretching things a bit? Need to get him down again, any tips?..

ExcitedCJ · 10/07/2014 22:03

Bugger most of my low rise numbers fitted for entire preg last time, seems likely will be same this time.

YellowWellies · 10/07/2014 22:04

Buggerlugs I needed them post 30 weeks last time - once in the last trimester you tend to put on 1lb a week. Virtually everyone needs them post birth - either because of CS scar, stitches / sore bits, or just being a more roomy to accommodate the massive maternity pads needed in the first 1-6 weeks to stem lochia (post birth bleeding).
