Sounds like a good idea mum. Nom!

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 08/07/2014 16:15

Crickey late to the party again, didn't notice we had started a new thread!

I love being pregnant & feel like its one of the only things i am good at lol! However i am feeling very tired today & as result am sat next to DS who is glued to cebeebies Blush

the midwife said baby was head down last time but i can't tell the difference. DS was head down from very early on as i remember so maybe this one will be the same. To anyone worrying about positioning though, don't! I have heard of babies moving as late as 37 weeks & some who have moved in labour so try not to stress Smile

Hoping all the ladies struggling get a second wind soon & can be lovely glowy pregnant people!

HopefulHamster · 08/07/2014 16:17

Hello October peeps. Anyone else still not got a nursery ready? Ours is full of junk that my DH keeps promising and failing to clear out - and he's away this week. Maybe next week... wouldn't be so bad but I want to paint the room and possibly replace the carpet too before getting the furniture in. I'm not even thinking about a hospital bag until the room is done because the baby stuff is spread all over the house.

re. exhaustion, I was absolutely shattered yesterday and could barely operate at work, yet I've got another 8/9 weeks before I stop. Today is better, but tomorrow I have to travel into London for a midday meeting that I really can't be bothered with.

Anyone else gone a while without scans etc? I had my 20 week scan, then heard heartbeat at 21 weeks. Now 27 weeks and had nothing since, but I have a midwife and whooping cough jab next week at 28.

cabster · 08/07/2014 17:31

I'm not expecting to be scanned again, heard heartbeat at 24 weeks and have mw next week for Anti D injection.

Not that I'm not getting my money's worth from the NHS.... Was spray cleaning the coffee table this morning before a friend and her DS we're coming round, put the bottle down to give the table a rub, turned round and there's DD sucking the spray bottle Shock cue us running to the GP round the corner in a mad panic but there's no harm done, thankfully. DD now has a sticker saying "I was brave for the doctor" Smile

Having a second seems like SUCH a good idea right now!

YellowWellies · 08/07/2014 17:48

Hopeful don't worry baby may well be in with you for the first six months (it reduces SIDS risk) so don't stress about the nursery. My DS is 21 months and his room won't get decorated until his sibling arrives.

Gunwalloe yes they do backdate MA. I got a fat cheque for £2.5k when J was 3 months!

fedupofrainydays · 08/07/2014 17:50

I've had mw appointment at 16 weeks, consultant at 18, then anomaly scan at 20, then NOWT til 28 weeks. I feel with second child they really leave you be and I think they should include the 24/25 week appointment even just to check BP and urine.

Do I need to organise my own whooping cough or will mw do that for me at 28 week apt? What point do you need to have the jab by?

Got call from childminder saying ds is ill so heading back to collect him. Takes me two hours to get back to him hence why I so need to leave this fecking job!

fedupofrainydays · 08/07/2014 17:52

Ps. hopeful our 'nursery' is currently a building site so I can safely say "no" to your question!!

magichandles · 08/07/2014 18:02

Same question as fed up about whooping cough - I'm 24 weeks and have had nothing since my 20 week scan (other than the private mini-scan and bloods) and won't be seen until 28 weeks when I've got my next GTT, midwife and Anti-D all on the same day. I do have extra NHS growth scans booked at 32 and 36 weeks though.

ExcitedCJ · 08/07/2014 18:05

Having a tough day! Had to call midwife to come out this evening as barely felt baby move since yesterday. She reckons he is just having a sleepy session as HB all fine but will check me again tomorrow at GP surgery. Feeling really rough & tired after early start & to make matters worse someone in the house left the freezer door open & my cornetto & nobbly bobbly ice cream stash has melted!

HopefulHamster · 08/07/2014 18:14

I was just given a leaflet about whooping cough and have booked it myself for the same day as my midwife appt - think you can have it from around 28-32/33 weeks maybe?

Glad to know I'm not the only one with no nursery! I know the baby won't need it at first but I want somewhere to store all the clothes etc :D

ohthegoats · 08/07/2014 18:18

The nursery in our house is currently the storage room for nearly all our belongings while we are a building site downstairs. So, not ready. It's me and kid in our current bedroom until Christmas anyway, with boyfriend in the spare room, so no need for it to be finished just yet. No doubt our room will end up full of baby gear until then. Although that room currently has no ceiling... it's nice round our way. Ahem.

I'm currently trapped in my car by rain - sandals and it's slinging it down, and I have to park on a building site front lawn.

mum2kiss · 08/07/2014 18:48

No nursery here...but we don't have a spare room so won't be doing one lol! We need to get a new set of drawers for baby though...at some point!

My spine is Threatening To Snap Clean In Two today! Paracetamol is not touching it!

Me23 · 08/07/2014 18:49

No nursery here we will have 3 kids in a 3 bed so younger kids will be sharing once baby is 6 months.

Re whooping cough you can have it from 28 to 38 weeks best to have it nearer 28 so enough time for immunity to cross placenta. Some mws give it some don't it depends on where you are- I need to book it with practice nurse.

fedupofrainydays · 08/07/2014 19:27

Torrential rain and no proper roof. Leaking into living room and landing. Love this building work I really do :(

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 08/07/2014 19:42

Our nursery still has DS in it so we will just need to put a toddler bed in there once the baby is old enough to move out of our room. DH seems to think the baby chest of drawers we are using for DS will also house the new babies clothes as well. Not sure how that one is going to work out!

I guess appointments are different from area to area, i saw my midwife at 22 then 25 weeks & think I'll see her every 3 weeks until i get closer to the birth when she does home visits. I think i would be phoning up for appointments if i had to wait 8 weeks after my scan!

ohthegoats · 08/07/2014 21:56

fedup - same here! Running through light fitting in the bathroom. SAFE.

fedupofrainydays · 08/07/2014 22:13

Oh no goats - not ideal.
Here we have a new Water feature in living room Angry

At least rain has eased and ds all tucked up asleep.

Off to bed with my awful leg cramps.

ExcitedCJ · 09/07/2014 05:53

FFS!!!! My house is awake at 5:30am again! DD & DH trooping round the house like elephants! I might move out for the next 3 months or better still ask them to!!!!!!!!
I need a nights sleep.

ExcitedCJ · 09/07/2014 06:28

And now the songs from 'FROZEN' are starting at the top of her lungs!
This has been 4 months of crazy! I'm going to be an empty shell of a woman by the time my DS arrives in another few months.... :(

Bumpforme2014 · 09/07/2014 07:00

Oh dear excited that sounds like a nightmare but that's kids for you. Had terrible night sleep myself, our bed broke within an hour of going to bed (it broke yesterday morning but we thought we had fixed it). Couldn't get back to sleep then woke up with the mother of all leg cramps at 4am!

fedupofrainydays · 09/07/2014 07:04

Well we haven't flooded overnight. Phew. Dreading when they break through into kitchen. Already eyeing up the travellodge for the month of August :(

Ds is up at 5.30 a fair bit at the mo excited so I know how you feel. I'm like a zombie with tiredness most of the time! Said to DH this morn when he was having a little chat to my bump "I think we have forgotten how hard it's going to be with a new born, and will be even harder with an energetic toddler in tow" his response "yep, totally glossed over those early months" great - so totally unprepared in our house!!!

binkybunny · 09/07/2014 08:21

Hi all. Just marking my place as on hols in the North Yorks Moors. Loving actually having a little bit of energy to do some short walks. I keep forgetting I can 't surf/ mountain bike and do all the things I used to just for now so a bit of a tame holiday but nice just not being at work!

Sorry to hear people are still struggling/ suffering. Thankfully its just my back and hips that are agony but I'm trying to ignore it. Oh and I feel like I'm 100 years old if I walk uphill!

Oh my Goddy god. I'm heeyoooj today!

ExcitedCJ · 09/07/2014 09:20

Thanks Bump & Fedup didn't expect the crazy early mornings at this stage! Hey ho, who needs sleep right?
DD is now curled up in my maternity pillow in my bed watching Tinkerbell & I'm off for a long shower to wake up. It's a beautiful sunny day here today so it could be a whole lot worse! :)
Fedup glad you are not flooded out yet! I've had house viewers the last 2 days & more today, hope house gets agreed for sale this week.
Binky lucky duck, have an amazing holiday.
