Ah... You guys. Now I would like to get a bednest co-sleeper cot & they are soooo expensive. I'm not sure if I could persuade my Mum into spending that much but love the look of it. Rats! Lottery win required.

YellowWellies · 19/07/2014 23:51

Isn't the pulsing twitch your placenta? Its only really obvious if you have a top / anterior placenta if I remember right?

ohthegoats · 20/07/2014 00:06

I don't want to co-sleep properly, as in 'in the bed'. What I'd like to do is have an ordinary small cot attached to the side of the bed (with cable ties if necessary), and either a moses basket in the cot, or something else - hence that Sleepyhead/cocoon thing appeals. Can move it around from the upstairs cot to downstairs during the day, and also it can be a travel cot up to 6 or 7 months. Then can move the cot into its own room when we can actually get into that room! If I get one that has a removal side (which obviously I'd need for being beside the bed), then it could be used as a toddler bed for a little while too.

ohthegoats · 20/07/2014 00:08

Isn't the pulsing twitch your placenta?

Yeah, that's what I reckon. I'm 'anterior high', which would make sense where the pulsing is. Bit weird that something so important is just below the skin.

fedupofrainydays · 20/07/2014 07:09

excited perhaps aim for ebay / gumtree which is what I've done. Half price that way! Not sure I would have spent £300 either. Bit of a rip off really for a bit of wood and some mesh!

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 20/07/2014 07:49

Oh i have been getting a pulsing too & also have an. anteria placenta, wondered what that was! Have read it can also be the baby having hiccups Smile

Anyone else sometimes feel like they a lying on baby? When i turn onto my side s/he seems to wriggle right underneath where my tummy touches the mattress then kicks the hell out of me as if to say "Oi, get off!"

Munday, sounds like your ergo is the real deal, exciting! I have seen people use teddy bears to practice on so why not a cat? I won't be held responsible for any scratches you may suffer though Grin

fatpony · 20/07/2014 08:11

I also read it could be the baby practicing their breathing! It's right around my belly button and is still going on (bit of navel gazing going on here!)
I also get the baby booting me if I turn too far onto one side. It's like a tapping: "excuse me but get the hell off"

Re those who want the bedbest why now just rent it? It comes with a new mattress and sides and they are offering a discount on the rental price till end July....

fatpony · 20/07/2014 08:13

www.bednest.com/
£99 for six months...

Kirstipops · 20/07/2014 08:51

Ooh that's good you can rent them fatpony, handy to know incase I or baby don't get on with the moses basket & rocking stand.

I have an anterior placenta too but no idea where it is as I don't see any pulsing, maybe it's just below my belly button in which case I'd have no chance of seeing it down there haha! (The sonographer said it's well out of the way of the "exit" tho)
Jellybeans yes I definitely get the "hey you're squishing me!" wriggles if I lie on my side sometimes too hehe.
If anyone has a Kindle or the Kindle app on their phone, the Kindle edition of Kate Evans' "Bump - How to Make, Grow and Birth a Baby" is available from Amazon for £1.09, just downloaded it last night. OK we've 'made' it and done a lot of the growing already but I'm sure it'll fill in some of my blanks for a little chunk of change :)

Bumpforme2014 · 20/07/2014 08:57

Yes to getting a punch when I turn on my right side, I think it's funny because she likes to lie on her stomach but so do I and when I try and sort of lie on my stomach a little she isn't happy and boots me to remind me to move (sigh) daughter you can have your own way for now lol

sazzlehopes · 20/07/2014 09:16

excited I've done quite a bit of research as this is child no2 I have nothing really to buy except a decent wrap carrier. Pick got given a Moses basket last time and after the csection really didn't get on with it all but didn't bother to buy anything else and just sort of muddled through for 4 months, but I found lifting and putting baby back into the Moses basket really tricky with the angle. I'd also like baby that bit nearer without actually having them on our bed.
The bednest is excellent value I think rented or off eBay because the resale value is good, from the ones I'm watching they seem to go for around £150 and then you need a mattress on top. The snuzpod seems like it does a very similar job but for a fraction of the price, plus I like the fact it's made with Eco ply with no nasties, and the rocking motion might come in handy.... And I'm obsessed with grey things!!!!!

I've been given my old cot and crib that Mum saved for me- planning on sanding and varnishing today. But love the idea of the pods attached to the bed- we've no room though!
Baby has always been transverse so a lot of times I get one or two lumps poking out of my sides as it stretches- it's really weird to watch Grin

ohthegoats · 20/07/2014 09:25

Anyone else sometimes feel like they a lying on baby?

Yes, especially because I'm still sometimes waking up on my stomach. Erk. I don't know how long I've been lying like that, but by the time I notice it I'm getting kicked a LOT.

First cool night since school finished, in bed alone and I slept for 9 hours, with only one wee break. This is exciting stuff... normally I'm at 6 hours with 7 wee breaks. Yay.

fedupofrainydays · 20/07/2014 09:35

The only thing about the snuz pod was it looks quite cheap
(Price wize) but once add mattress and bedding it's at £250. And too new to find any on ebay yet.

I shall report back on my bednest purchase once collected. It's £165 but comes with 2 mattresses (will see if I want a new one) and loads of fitted sheets so hopefully no extra purchases. Let's see. Hope not been ripped off if others get them for £150!!

mrsb87 · 20/07/2014 10:21

Loving the snuzpod! Really want one! I too slept a lot better now I'm home in my own bed. 1 wee stop at about 6am then straight on til 9:15 and only one wake up due to cramp, bliss!
On the other hand today I have a mountain of washing to do and a food shop. Feeling very lethargic and snoozy because of the humidity.

tak1ngchances · 20/07/2014 10:57

Is anyone else feeling ridiculously clumsy?

We had a dinner party last night and I dropped and spilled do many things! Shock. Also I keep banging my hips/elbows/knees/toes (owwwwww) off things that are really not in my way.

It's a bit how I get when I am premenstrual and has just come on in the last week. It's like I have zero hand- eye coordination, fine motor skills or spatial awareness.

Is it a third trimester thing? Hope it goes away soon!

BingoBango85 · 20/07/2014 11:00

26 weeks & back to feeling generally sicky again like first few months. Anyone else find this?

magichandles · 20/07/2014 11:05

tak1ng I'm being really clumsy as well, exactly like I get when I'm premenstrual - I find I keep dropping things and it's annoying me as it's starting to get really uncomfortable to bend down and pick things up again.

Is anyone else getting really tender patches on their bump when they press it - I'm assuming it's where a head/ bum is pressing up against me as it does stop after a while. Its really uncomfortable some times, I don't remember it with the others so I'm wondering if this one is breech at the moment.

YellowWellies · 20/07/2014 11:19

We've got my sisters old bednest its done her two, my cousins two, J and this will be baby number six. So for us all (we all chipped in) its been cheaper to buy than rent!

ohthegoats · 20/07/2014 11:33

Oh for goodness sake! We have about 4 girls name possibles right, one of which is the favourite and is a bit more unusual than the others - a west country name, so more common in Cornwall, but I don't know any others personally. We've never discussed this name with anyone.

My friend had a baby yesterday... and guess what? Same name, different spelling. Ridiculous. Haha... just as well my boyfriend keeps coming up with other random options that he suddenly LOVES.

Pregnantagain7 · 20/07/2014 11:49

Oh no goats that's just typical! I have had any pulsing but the other night I thought the baby had been a bit quiet so I had a cold drink and lay down for a bit, I looked down at mt tummy and it was moving but I couldn't feel a thing it was obviously behind my anterior placenta but my god it was weird.
I had a lovely evening and lie in this morn my mum had the kids for a sleep over last night so me and dp went for an amazing Indian in rusholme (famous area for curry in Manchester) and lay in this morning, dp brought me breakfast in bed which I don't think he has ever done before!!
Am going to have a nice long showers in peace blow dry my hair properly for a change and dps taking me for lunch before we pick the kids up.
Hmm my whole weekend has been spent eating!!
Hope everyone else is having a good weekend :)

HopefulHamster · 20/07/2014 12:21

Names are so hard - I have been dithering between two or three frontrunners for a month or so and still can't decide. If someone uses them before October I'll cry!

mrsb87 · 20/07/2014 14:28

tak1ing I just slid my bacon sandwich off my plate whilst in the process of placing my orangeade on the side table and then that went flying on the floor too Sad

And yes sickness Is coming back even with my ondansatron, last night hurled my dinner up and generally nauseous. The heat probably doesn't help!

tak1ngchances · 20/07/2014 14:35

Oh no mrsb! Could you save the sandwich at least?
I was sick up to 26 weeks but touch wood have not been sick since. Let's see what this week brings. I think heat & fatigue are major factors

mrsb87 · 20/07/2014 14:53

Haha yea the sarnie was salvageable! Thank goodness else I might have cried. And dh was very quick to clean up after me, bless him! 30wks and still being sick every day isn't much fun and now I'm worried it's getting worse again.
