Gah, fat fingers.
Anyway, told DH I couldn't physically get home fast enough for an earlier appointment and think he was quite put out, gah, I know comparing cats to kids is crazy but it hit me again this avo the amount of time he spends out of the house other than work what with football and band, harrumph....

mum2kiss · 14/07/2014 17:50

Kirsti I think a lot of men just don't get the thinking of a pregnant woman! My dp doesn't have hobbies but I know if he did he'd be out doing them regardless of whatever else was happening in our home! Yesterday he sulked all day because hi car still wont work. We've spent £1100 so far (oh my gosh the baby things I could have bought with that!) And still no resolution. The house was a war zone and we were supposed to get it all back in order but as he was sulking he sat on the sofa and played the win with Dd all day!! I was washing, cooking and cleaning all day and he refused to move except when I refused to serve the food until they had cleared and laid the table!

gunwalloe · 14/07/2014 18:27

yellow yes I will be breastfeeding no way would I do a long haul with a tiny baby I know that if she starts I can use me as a dummy and food supply :)

Your trip sounds fab I would love to go skiing one day.

YellowWellies · 14/07/2014 18:35

Gun I'll be doing apres ski (well food not booze!) and sledging with J - am a wuss when it comes to downhill. They also do a torchlit procession in the snow for New Years and Burns night. Might try some dog sledding and cross country skiing. Maybe. Realistically I'll be BF in a cosy lodge with a wood burner whilst the boys do the action hero stuff!

YellowWellies · 14/07/2014 18:40

Gun I flew solo with J at 12 weeks and he did exactly that, slept and nursed in a sling the whole time - even through baggage collection! Much easier than travelling with a toddler. Earlier than 3-4 months I'd (personally - due to fecking CMPI) be wary as if this baby has reflux / 'colic' I'd worry about them screaming the plane down but by Jan I'd hope to have that sorted with meds and diet changes if needed. Just make sure your accommodation has AC as that's the only other real worry I can see?

Bumpforme2014 · 14/07/2014 18:47

Hi all, gawd I hate this weather I get so hot on the tube feel like I can't breathe and it's getting hotter this week :-( makes me so tired as well.

My little miss has not been kicking nearly as much these last few days, it's hard not to panic. I am 27 weeks so putting it down to growth spurt, she has stopped kicking and just wriggles now every few hours or so. Also have burning sensation round belly button which I think is my skin stretching?

mum2kiss · 14/07/2014 19:19

From my own personal experience I will not be taking a toddler on a plane EVER again! 4 month old? Perfect! 1 year old? Not too bad! 2 year old?! Utter hell!! She didn't see another plane until she was 5 lol!

porcito · 14/07/2014 19:30

Glad everything's OK taking!

I'm planning on taking the baby back to UK for Easter next year...was thinking about Christmas, but I think that might be too ambitious. Plus experience tells me getting paperwork done in time from the embassy here won't be a speedy thing...

My house is a disaster. We've just moved to the new place and I'm surrounded by boxes and filth. I hate the fact that I can't do what I could before and have to rely on DP to do all the lifting etc. Yesterday I had to wait for 3 hours while he laid on the bed looking at the bugs on the ceiling. ARGH. I built 5 boxes of flat pack furniture while he built one and broke it in the process. Next time we move, I'm sending him on holiday!

fedupofrainydays · 14/07/2014 19:32

bump me too. I've got a 1.5 hour commute involving 3 tubes and it's HIDEOUS! So 3 hours each day :( bring on mat leave hey :)

Oooh well I'm tempted by skiing next year too but think it's not worth the expense if am still breastfeeding (which I hope to be) as will not be able to head off for long without needing to feed bubs! We went to Austria when ds was one and a bit and he had a lovely time in the crèche but he's a confident chap and loves those kind of things. Got a feeling this baby is going to be shy and moody as I had such a stressful start to pregnancy and anxious! But ds will be 3 and able to learn to ski - he's going to love it (not sure my nerves will as mr kamikaze goes straight down everything!)

And I found / find flying hard. Better now he's has his own seat but I think about one year old was the worst when he would not stop moving!! iPad is the only answer for us. He watched peppa and Dora and prob made me a bad parent but it made it SO much easier!! Oh and when he was 9 months he had a sudden vom bug - really not what you want on a plane! It was awful!!! Probably picked it up from the airport and kicked in by time got on plane!!

Kirstipops · 14/07/2014 19:34

Well football practice was cancelled due to the pissing rainGrin and DH had tidied the kitchen and ordered us some lovely swish garden furniture while I was at work so I'm biting my tongue for now hehe.
All this talk of travelling with babies is getting me so excited for New Year, we're heading down to the Lake District as we usually do with close family and a couple of friends, it's going to be so different this year though :)

ohthegoats · 14/07/2014 20:23

I want to ski in Jan/Feb, and sailing club holiday in May. These are both 'wants' rather than 'likely' though, but down to money rather than anything else. We've just had final quotes for our building work, and won't be spending any money for a little while! Makes me want to go back to work full time so we can afford to actually live. Urgh.

I hate the fact that I can't do what I could before and have to rely on DP to do all the lifting etc.

This is my main issue. Especially at the moment. It took me a week to decorate a bedroom last week - normally I'd do two coats of walls in one night, then woodwork after that. 5 nights to just do the walls. It's SO frustrating. Keep needing to sit down at work too. Work is essentially massively shit, I'm hating all the kids in my class (who are stroppy and argumentative and sweary and unpleasant because they are leaving on Friday and starting to get scared), and just about everyone else too since they won't even let me stand on a proper standing-stool to put things on wall displays etc. On top of that I'm exhausted with just not sleeping very well. Can't wait until 1.31 on Friday...

binkybunny · 14/07/2014 20:25

yellow have you been to the Reindeers in the Cairngorms? We went 4 times last year just love them! Planning on wrapping our baby up and visiting end of Nov. We're planning 2 or 3 nights in Nethy Bridge last week of November. We'll be staying in a wood hut with limited elec supply (fridge only) and an outside loo and shower. Its such a wonderful place but not sure how different its going to be with a baby!

YellowWellies · 14/07/2014 20:37

Binky that sounds perfect! I lived in Finland so loooooove reindeer. Not sure we'll be ready for travel by November though as I'll be juggling newborn and toddler (though second time Mums seem a lot quicker out the house than I was first time judging by the fact they're back at toddlers within a week). If you're BF then no electricity is no problem (night feeds by candle light would be fine!) if you need to boil a kettle and wash and sterilise bottles it could be ball ache. And in terms of heating if baby gets cold - they'll tell you and its easy enough to put an extra blanket on.

binkybunny · 14/07/2014 21:08

Heatings not a problem in the hut. Theres a wood burner so its prob going to be the opposite- making sure its not too warm! The reindeers are in the Cairngorms all year. We went at New Year and it was lovely. They do a hill walk where you feed them out of your hand, might not be so feasible for you with a toddler and baby though!

AnnoyedByAlfieBear · 14/07/2014 21:21

Just looking on the Oct thread on Babycentre (not the best forum tbh) and the 1st baby has been born at 25+6! Shock Most definitely thinking of them!

fedupofrainydays · 14/07/2014 21:57

Ps love the name, Alfie bear is so annoying!!!

I think so but there's not info other than weight (1lb 2oz iirc) and that she'll stay in neo-natal til her due date They've transferred her to another hospital that caters for pre-28 weekers. Everyone was posting 'congratulation' messages but I didn't think it seemed appropriate tbh.

Our Alfie bear's on/off button got jammed and all I got for ages was that damn giggling and hello/bye-bye. DS loved it unfortunately.

fedupofrainydays · 14/07/2014 22:10

Oh goodness. Yeah, am not sure of its congratulations either when it's so serious when so young. Poor parents must be worried sick

Similar thing happened to my Nieces Alfie bear when I was looking after her for the weekend. Thank goodness no one bought it for ds as a gift!! We instead have a car thing that has a mind of its own and sings at you when it's turned off in the toy box "let's go driving, let's go driving"!!!

YellowWellies · 14/07/2014 22:14

24 weekers have a 20% survival rate, 25 weekers a 33% - Alfie you're quite right its too early to be congratulating Sad . My 27 weeker niece had 40% odds and the journey to get her home was a rollercoaster and she was 2lb. Even a simple cold can be fatal. And the parents will be in tearful shock not celebrating. Poor them its such a shock and heartbreaking that they won't be able to touch let alone hold the baby for weeks. If as a group we can all get to 30 weeks I'll be having a wee glass! Post 30 weeks everything is much easier. But its so hard for folks to know what to say - my sister got congratulations cards and condolences cards when her DD turned up and some folks stayed silent as they didn't know what to say. Better to say something than ignore.

Kirstipops · 14/07/2014 22:19

Yipes :-/
We've had the "When will you pack your hospital bag" chat on here, when would you all be starting to carry your hospital notes around with you?

Kirstipops · 14/07/2014 22:22

Oooft I've had my last message sitting waiting to go for ages and just seen the rest of the posts, 25 weeks :( Hope the little one is OK.
Yellow, "condolences" cards? I wouldn't know what to think if I got one of them :(

Pregnantagain7 · 14/07/2014 22:25

I never carried my notes round with me Confused are we supposed to? You would never guess this is my fourth Grin
Anyone else sobbed at my long lost family tonight?!

YellowWellies · 14/07/2014 22:36

I'll carry mine on longer trips from 27 weeks on. To work etc I won't bother as its five minutes from home and hospital.
