Thanks everyone. Just in case it happens to anyone else, definitely go in and get it checked. They did the usual blood pressure, urine, measuring and then hooked me up to a machine to monitor the baby's heartbeat & movement, uterine contractions etc for 20 mins. Finally they looked at my cervix with a speculum to see if there was any fresh bleeding.
When everything looked fine I was allowed home (yaaaaayyyyy!! The relief) but they did say to come back in with any further spotting at all, also reduction in movement, loss of amniotic fluid. It's always being said on here but it's so true - they would much rather you just go in & get checked.

Kirstipops · 14/07/2014 08:01

Phew glad you got a quick discharge and all is well Taking, must have been a nervewracking few hours tho.

Oh the boba 4g looks good! Off to Google again Grin....

mrsb87 · 14/07/2014 08:16

Just a short note to say I hope all is well with you taking. I'm glad they were so quick to see you!
I'm having a lovely time away with my doggies but I'm suffering with such awful swollen feet and ankles, I have officially reached that "old.lady" stage now.
Also my hips are killing me from sleeping on my sides. Does anyone have any tips? It's bad enough being kicked about all night without that too!

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 14/07/2014 08:30

Glad all was ok tak1ng, definitely true that the hospital would rather you come in than sit at home worrying, that applies when your baby is teeny tiny too & you're worrying because the cord has been knocked off!

MrsB87 i have been getting sore hips too, the pregnancy pillow helps but sometimes need an extra pillow under my knees as well to take the pressure off. I will be so happy when i can sleep on my back again!

mrsb87 · 14/07/2014 10:00

Thanks jelly will try that tonight. I'm having to nap every day at the moment because of not sleeping properly. I hope it works, I'm such a fidgety sleeper I always worry the cushions will end up on the floor!

Georgebythesea · 14/07/2014 10:32

So glad everything is ok Tak1

What have other people been told about charting baby movements? My midwife says very clearly(I quizzed her about it) 10 movements a day are fine but online it seems to say 10 movements every 2 hours so I'm a bit confused!

HopefulHamster · 14/07/2014 10:44

re. carriers, I only ended up with 8 because I kept the ones he grew out of in case I had another baby :D.

I think stretchies are best for newborns, though some sscs can carry them too. Then some people move on to wraps, which you can do loads with but I never got on with them.

Mei tais as above are flexible and you can generally tie them to suit your body and adjust for the baby. Whereas SSCs are a bit more hit and miss. If you get one that won't go tight enough on your waist or shoulders you're screwed, but when you get it right they feel lovely and secure and are less faff than messing with loads of ties.

Finally got my husband to start properly tidying the baby room yesterday but don't think he realises we haven't got that long left to paint it, do the carpet, build the furniture, wash old baby clothes, buy any new stuff we need et etc.

I have a DH who likes to play the competitive tiredness game too, and he'll drop off on the sofa even though I'm the one who's up three times a night! But generally he's pretty awesome so I won't complain (too much).

Glad Taking is okay! Hope everyone else is too.

Happytimes31 · 14/07/2014 12:08

Ok, hot off the press... I have just rung triage as baby hasn't kicked nearly as much as usual today (only 10 ish kicks rather than more than double that by now) and the midwife said that almost 27 wks is still early for established movement and as long as you are feeling the baby regularly (and have no other issues) then that is all we need to think about. She said counting kicks and things will just make people worry. Baby movement changes all the time. She said we can always ring them but really if you don't feel the baby at all for a good few hours that is when you might want to worry, unless you have pain or anything like that. Hope that help Smile

sazzlehopes · 14/07/2014 12:12

excited and jelly i too am carrier obsessed. Last time I didn't do so well and this time with a toddler in tow and generally having more confidence that the baby isn't just going to fall out...I'm looking at loads of stretchy wrap ones. We have an ergo and I do love that when they are a bit bigger, but this time I'm looking at wraps.
Has anyone got a Close Caboo one like here? Is it any good? Looks a bit easier to get on than the ones with just fabric?

bugs i'm so excited for you too...obviously i'm excited for myself, but well, your effort to get here, it really does make me happy for you. Glad the 3D scan was good too x

Magic I'm getting blocked ears every now and then too! Who knows if it is preggo related.

Oh and my midwife rang and said my latest bloods showed my iron was pretty low, although I feel fine and not tired really... but if I do want to take something what should I get?

Hi all, back to work today after a lovely week off, I haven't caught up on this thread yet- it moves too fast. I tried whilst away but 3G and WiFi was really hit and miss.

I am missing my afternoon naps already as like Mrsb my hips are agony so can't sleep more than an hour at a time before waking up in pain Sad I've tried pregnancy pillows, normal pillows, going to bed really late to be exhausted but nothing works! The next person who tells me it's good practice for a newborn will be slapped as at least when I have a newborn I won't be trying to work as well!

Will have a good read back later, but in the meantime taking glad all's ok and enjoy your break Mrsb!

gunwalloe · 14/07/2014 12:55

Eeeeeek I just went for a nose on the September thread ( where I should be as dates moved and having a cs at 39 weeks but anyway....)
theres a lady who looks like she will be delivering soon. Im no where near ready all ive bought is a few clothes I need to get into gear!

JellyBeansHaveNoAgeLimit · 14/07/2014 13:16

Sazzle the close caboo was my first carrier, really easy to use & a perfect intro to babywearing Smile only thing is, DS was too heavy for it by about 4 months. A stretchy wrap will last longer as you can get it tighter to your body than the caboo. It is more faff wrapping but the beauty of a stretchy is you can pre tie it then put the baby in & also whip them in & out without undoing it. Can you tell i am a wrap fan? lol! Might change my mind when i am trying to chase a toddler & wrap at the same time though Confused

ExcitedCJ · 14/07/2014 13:52

Sazzle just get plain old Ferrous Sulphate 200mg from Pharmacist, should only cost max £2 & take 2 a day after food & see how you go. I'm currently taking them & seems to be OK with my tummy. Either that or 2 Spatone sachets a day but that is a much more expensive plan!

ExcitedCJ · 14/07/2014 13:53

I'm on day 6 at work & about to fall flat on my face!

sazzlehopes · 14/07/2014 14:02

Thanks Jelly that's good to know - i don't mind too much if I only get 4 months out of the Close because I can move onto the ergo by then I think? I'm loving that you are a wrap fan! I love people that get super excited by something, I'm the same as you but my love is reusable nappies!! I could go on and on!!!

Excited cheers will look out for that - was hoping to just adjust it through diet but I may take the stuff just in case!

Pinkie2103 · 14/07/2014 14:29

I'm keen to try the Close Caboo second time around and might then switch to a Tula (and sell my Ergo). Have already spent waaayyyy too much time researching this (it was cloth nappies with my first pregnancy) but I'm thinking about utilising a sling library so I don't spend too much money. There are also some great FB groups for buying second hand wraps and carriers

I attempted to use a 'Peanut Shell' with my son but it just never felt right (looked lovely though) so went to an Ergo with newborn insert. www.thepeanutshell.com/Products/Baby-Carriers/Adjustable-Baby-Sling

25 weeks yesterday and sick of people asking if I am expecting twins!

Happytimes31 · 14/07/2014 14:32

Pinkie same here and it is only my first! 'Are you sure there is only one in there..?'! I don't think I am THAT huge..

Happytimes31 · 14/07/2014 14:37

Will be 27 weeks this week Smile

sazzlehopes · 14/07/2014 14:56

Ha pinkie i too spent far too much time reading reviews on cloth nappies the 1st time round and now it appears i am 'into' slings...

And yes why do people think the twin joke is so funny? I doubt very much that you are looking large happy or pinkie
I know I can't be, i'm measuring ok by my midwife. In fact a friend said to me the other day (who is also pregnant) "wow you've really popped out" i was like, cheers, really helpful comment....I don't think I have at all. Then went to my midwife appointment and measured bang on 28 weeks, then she text later to say that at her 28 midwife appt she was measuring 31 weeks......so why did she need to say I looked big???!!!!

Kirstipops · 14/07/2014 15:06

Sazzle I'm glad you're so into reusable nappies!! I've lost count of the amount of "oh god you're brave/you don't have a clue what you've let herself in for" from disposable nappy mums :( Don't actually know anybody else who uses/used washable nappies so its good to speak to people on here who do!

sazzlehopes · 14/07/2014 15:27

kirstie i'm one of the few of my close group of friends that does. However, i get why they want the ease, and disposables are very easy...but reusables aren't harder. They just need you to be able to get into the swing of a routine for them like anything...wash, dry and stuff, so more work and organisation, but NOT harder.
On the odd occasion that I've gone away on holiday and had to use disposables, i am always like oh wow these are so easy, but i have always gone back to the reusable when i get home because it is no big deal at all. Anytime you want to ask me something then please do PM me...I'm not on Facebook, but more than happy to help you out with questions, advice etc. And when these babies arrive we can chat more about how to use them!! x

mrsb87 · 14/07/2014 15:50

I too will be doing reusable nappies. I'm on a couple of sales groups on Facebook, if you want to links let me know. My plan is to hire from the local nappy library for a while to see how I get on with different brands etc and it will give me a chance to stock up too. Both my sister and sil did reusable and got on great. Plus I like the long term savings especially if you have another child!

YellowWellies · 14/07/2014 16:31

Kirsti My sis used reusables for her firstborn until six months (solid food poos are more grim to deal with). Loved them. And she managed the additional washing (its not much compared to baby clothes) despite having a baby who did not sleep!

Gun J was born in October, I remember vividly that it was end Jan / early Feb when I really felt on top of things and up to adventures. So a January holiday isn't daft. A long haul flight might be pushing it unless you're BF though. We're planning a ski / walking trip to the Cairngorm's in January - but we're limiting ourselves to no more than 3 hours travel more for the toddler and dog than the baby.

We had a great holiday. Castles and boat trips are much fun for a toddler even if mum and dad won't let you fling yourself over the side....

fedupofrainydays · 14/07/2014 17:03

Well... Last night after having spent 140 on an ergo because I'm not planning on using a buggy - DH asks when are we buying the buggy? He hates our current one that much clearly!

Kirstipops · 14/07/2014 17:23

Thanks sazzle and mrsb :) My mum and I have been buying some Bumgenius,Bamboozles, Motherease Rikki wraps and muslins here and there from EBay and Gumtree. Hoping to use the muslins and XS small wraps from birth and see how I go.
Had a minor tantrum to myself earlier because DH wanted me to chang cat's vet appointment today to an earlier time as he'd be late for football training otherwise. He plays football twice a week and has band practice twice a week too
